Out of the Blue Clovelly is a popular and well know local and has been here for years. The food is good quality and reasonably priced. The burgers are very popular and there are some other snacks that are unique items on the menu. This fish and chip shop is takeaway only and comes with some ups and downs. On the upside it’s location is good, The food is good quality, very handy is a super market next door and a bottle shop across the road. On the downside. This shop gets VERY busy in the weekends with lots of customers ordering over the phone or online. As a result the waiting times are long and regularly exceed more than 30min which is long for fish&chips. The staff is not that friendly either. Check the opening day’s and times. Even while the food is good and above average. The long queues and waiting times are not worth the hassle.

Out of the blue has the BEST CHICKEN BURGERS IN SYDNEY! They have literally mastered all components of a burger. The tofu burger is also a good op and much lighter too. The mayo chilli sauce on the burgers is to die for. I crave out of the blue at least every week and have to stop myself from getting it too much😭😭 it’s just too good. The wait can be long but it’s worth the wait. The staff are always lovely and kind too! Been coming here for years and the quality has always been amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough for lunch or dinner it is just the best 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

Me and my partner enjoy trying out local fish and chips wherever we go, on a Sunday afternoon we tried OTB, the queue were huge and thought this is a good sign. We were advised the wait will be 35-40min and we agreed because curiosity got the better of us. We ordered a signature fish burger and a fish and chips. After a long awaited 45min instead of the original 35-40min we got our order but realized there was something wrong with our burger, the description of the burger had egg and instead we didn’t get egg but slices of beetroot instead. We left the store to eat somewhere down the road so there was nothing we could do so we had the burger, we found the burger was made with a low quality sesame bun which was falling apart before we finished the burger with just your regular iceberg, shredded unmelted cheese, mayonnaise, battered fish and beetroot. I can’t say there was anything special that makes it a signature and the fish and chips was pretty ordinary because they did takeaway only so they wrapped it up so tight the chips was a little soggy by the time we went down the road. The fish was nice but found the batter was hard more then crunchy. Some might say worth the wait but don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

Do yourself a favour and get the Remi's special To all the clowns out there whingeing about turning up in the middle of lunch time on a beautiful summers day and being astounded that there is a queue and they have to wait - phone ahead or go to an inferior merchant and wait less time instead of punishing these guys by taking off stars.

Ok. I have read the reviews, mostly favourable. Others quite negative. So let me start with that. The service is prompt, courteous and friendly. The person taking the order is very attentive and is extremely careful to get the order right. The wait on a Saturday night. Less than McYuk. We took our order home and ate it as our dinner. The chicken burger was ok. The fish burger must have been on a diet, because it was on the small side. The french fries. Fine. The order total $26.00. Is this good value? I don't believe so. But not because the wait times are long; or the service rude or the food is unpalatable. Simply because it is not great.

Super busy but for very good reason! This is a real improvement on the traditional village takeaway with so much flavour injected into the old favourites through sauces and fresh ingredients. The burgers are outstanding, as are the chips and they are happy to customise to your liking. If you have the patience, try calling ahead as you leave the beach so your order is waiting for you when you get there, just be prepared to hit redial dozens of times. If not, enjoy the wait with a cold beverage from the fridge

Really good fish burger and fries! It is not oily at all, the taste is really good. The tartar sauce we added (+$1) on top for our fries was what we needed. Good take away to enjoy on the sand, for a great price $12!

Came here for some burgers recently, the queue wasn't too bad, and the burgers were well worth the 15min wait! We had the fish burger and it was delicious, and huge! The chips on the side were super crispy and a generous portion (plus I love that they came wrapped up in paper old school style!!) We took ours down to the Clovelly cliffs to eat & watch the sunset, perfect ending to a day - totally recommend Out of the Blue and we'll be coming back!

Very busy shop but worth the wait. We ordered fish and chips, fish burger, calamari and pineapple fritter. The fish and chips were cooked very well - still crunchy after the drive home. Calamari rings were small but they threw a few more in to make up for it. By the time we got home and I had the fish burger it was soggy. It's probably best to eat it asap - the flavours were great and the sauce was yum. We'll be back!

My cousin recommended this place as the best takeaway in Clovelly. We ordered burgers and chips and they were phenomenal! Out of the Blue gave me an incredible experience with food that is unforgettable. They have a wide selection with fabulous and reasonable prices. They also have chips that have come down from heaven. Out of the blue are also generally nice staff. My friend and i arrived late for our burgers and didn't hear our name get called out. We had been waiting at the shop for about 5 minutes and then i asked if they were coming or not. The owner said sorry about that ur burgers were ready a while ago and he made us fresh ones and gave us drinks on the house. My favourite fish and chip shop in the East because it offers more than just seafood - the burgers (fish and otherwise) are delicious and different thanks to Merguez (Africa) patties. It can get intensely busy on weekends like all well known joints (don't count on getting a seat - take away is your best bet), but things move quickly. The proprietor takes his job very seriously in a way you may not expect from a casual fish and chip place, and is always updating the menu.

Clovelly is where I first lived when I moved to Sydney and I had had a couple of bad burgers in the area before trying the ones from Out Of The Blue. I was decided that burgers just taste bad in Australia (yeah little 19yo me! You tried two different places, it must mean that EVERY BURGER in Australia must be bad!) but I decided to give burgers another shot when somebody recommended OOTB. And boy, I'm glad I did! That chicken burger blew my mind. It's delicious, fresh, cheap, you can't ask for more! Pleeeease give OOTB a try! It's a tiny little place on the road down to Clovelly beach, but it's IMPRESSIVE.

Food is great, but ordering system is not. This place is super popular which means waiting for half an hour for food. You can order via phone but it is difficult to get through to anyone and last time they answered put the phone down and left me on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. They also only accept cash. If they improved their ordering system they would be 5* as the food is always great as is the staff.

Incredible burgers at a very fair price, easily one of the best burger joints in Sydney. Definitely go there! But I must ask the owner, why won't you introduce eftpos? $10 minimum is fine but to have no eftpos at all is just unfair. It's 2019, everywhere else has eftpos and most people don't carry cash around. Forcing loyal customers to always bring cash just to get fed is a nuisance. I'll always come here because the food is top but c'mon.

Wow. Simply brilliant. This unassuming little takeaway works wonders. The burgers here are the standout. They do fish and chips but seriously, come for the burgers. Julian's specialty fish burger is the star. Battered hoki fillet with so many toppings it's almost impossible to eat! And the star of the show? The chilli mayo! Compliments the fish perfectly. Do yourself a favour, grab a burger and head down to the beach and just enjoy life!

A real gem of a takeaway seafood and burger shop located in Clovelly. This is a well stablished family run business with a very loyal following. Its a small, no frills shop with great staff and atmosphere. They are quite often busy and during peak season the queue stretches outside! This is a testament of how great their food is. And reasonably priced too. The French owners Sophie and Jean-Marc created very special recipes for their food preparation and the ingredients are always fresh. I have been a loyal customer of theirs for over 10 years. Despite moving away from Clovelly in 2010 I still go back there regularly. I have brought along many friends who became instant converts!! I highly recommend anyone visiting Clovelly area to try one of their classic burgers or seafood and chips. My favourite of all is the chicken burger with a juicy crumbed breast fillet of chicken and chilli mayo. It is deliciously prepared, simple and tasty, grilled to perfection and not greasy. Wow, I'm salivating while writing this... Their lamb burger named Merguez is exquisite too! Deliciously filled with spicy lamb, tabbouli salad and delicious sauce. The beef burger is a classic, faultless. For the die hard meat eaters there's the option of a steak burger. To make sure everyone is included, veggie burgers are also on the menu, all home made style. And I can honestly say that they taste great. I have tried it twice since my wife became a vegetarian. However, I am still an omnivore!!! ;-) I hope they will continue to provide this amazing food experience through to their next generation ( Hey Julien! )... I love your work guys. Local institution for burgers. Point of difference is that all burgers are served with beetroot and carrot. Don't like beetroot or carrot? Try it anyway, it'll convert you. If you're getting chicken salt on your chips branch out and ask for some cracked pepper with it. Turn chips in to ritz.

ok, so I haven't tried one of the burgers. I had this craving for something very simple: Crumbed fish and chips. Now this place has a legendary pedigree in terms of a customer base and when I went there on a Sunday evening, there was a ~25 minute between order and hand over, which was fine - I was in no hurry. The main staff member taking orders is worth watching just for his efficiency. The reason for the 3 stars? The food just failed to wow me. It's just ...meh.
