I have heard the shop has recently come under new management. Ordered various fish, calamari and chips for the family. Chips were very good, fish was also nice no problems family enjoyed it would come here again

The owner was very accomodating, battered us some delicious barramundi and hot chips even though he was about to close. Ended up actually being one of the best fish and chips we've ever had. Had a family pack and it was huge. Enough for 6 of us. The fish cocktails were great and the chips were crunchy and just yum. Best I've had in a while. Could be a bit pricey if we all wanted our own meals. Service was quick, even though it was busy, and lots of locals seemed to be going here which is always a good sign.

Had an absolutely amazing fish and chips experience here yesterday. The place was super busy but we got our order quickly and it was some of the best crumbed flathead I’ve ever had. Also loved the grilled barramundi and the chips were perfect. Highly recommend

Great location and sensational chips, had the calamari and fish special. I thought it was a little expensive but the the portion was very generous and price justified. Good covid precautions in place - saw the team washing their hands and wiping all surfaces regularly. Little bit of a longer wait than I wanted but - worth it!

The fisherman's basket was nice. Also tried the chillie chicken burger...personally I prefer more heat, but tasty still! There's lots of outdoor seats as well as in the park opposite...you can also walk across to Werri beach and have a picnic with the delicious food! The staff and service was great...I dropped my wallet and the owner was kind enough to keep it safe for me! Top bloke. Definitely worth a visit.

WOW! Best fish and chips I've ever had! Great service and friendly staff too. We still remember the day we stumbled across this place on our way back from a wedding - what a treat! Best fish and chips on the south coast and none of the attitude you get at some other highly rated chip shops! Like all popular places, particularly ones like this that are located so close to tourist parks, it can get bloody busy. So if you want an evening meal here in the summer my advice would be to phone it in or settle down for a bit of wait out the front. The food is awesome, freshly cooked and delicious and in many, many visits I've never had a bad meal.

Service was excellent. Fish cocktails lovely but the calamari was as tough as old boots. If I may make a suggestion regarding the calamari, it doesn't need to be cooked for long and it is much better done in Panko crumbs

Nice seaside fish n' chip shop, good range of fish and other fare although why go to a fish shop for a burger or chicken nuggets. They'll do both fried and grilled and have a range of drinks. We had a delicious barramundi and the hot chips were nice and crispy. The kids loved the calamari. There's seating outside, with umbrellas to keep the sun off and a covered area that will give you some protection from the wind if you want. Only downside is they charge you for sauce and have a debit card / credit card surcharge (with $10 minimum spend). That's standard Aussie practice but it's rubbish.

Great food and good service. Only criticism would be that it's cash only (no ATM nearby) and sometimes a little too salty. Definitely worth the detour. They take phone orders too if you can't wait for your fresh food to be cooked.

Well this place is a treasure, we have now been using this hideaway for three years and feeding fussy adults and even fussier children and grandchildren. The quality of the food is a delight and it has always been that way. Some items of their menu cannot be shared as we reserve that knowledge just for ourselves. The location is great, either sitting at their premises or across the road. The service is great and knowing that this place has been there for I believe over forty years gives you confidence in the quality of their food.

I only had the fish burger. The deep fried fillet is generous but no larger than the bun. The lettuce, sparse and the mayonaise (I think) sauce is average. For $10 on just the burger, I've had better. Perhaps the fish and chips is better?

Fish and chips was delicious! Don however seemed as though he wasn't happy to serve us. Asked for chicken salt after he had wrapped up the fish and chips...made a comment mate you should have asked before...then put way too much chicken salt on.. At the end bought a rainbow paddlepop ice cream $2.30 and a bubble o'bill $3.30. When I went to pay he said $6.60 I said isn't it $5.60 he said no.its $6.60 ? How no idea... would go back for the food for sure but not for customer service! Also paid $33.90 for a small chips plus 6 fish coctails and 6 calamari plus 2 drinks...

What a terrific find. This lovely little fish & chip shop is both an icon and a well kept secret. Excellent food here; served quickly and efficiently. The owners are proud of their business and it shows in their friendly smiling faces. The business speaks for itself and it has no need of superlatives. It says quite simply, 'I’m a family business eat here and you’ll be impressed’. The shop is only small but it is clean, neat and tidy, and it is only a little way from the highway. Werri Beach Fish Shop was very busy when we got here today at 2.30pm on Anzac Day. We ordered fish and chips ($16.50) and a Seafood Basket ($20). Both were cooked fresh to order and we only had to wait 10mins. Of the two, I favoured the Seafood Basket. It came with 2 x fish, 1 x seafood stick, 1 x huge scallop, 2 x calamari, 1 x prawn cutlet and 1 x whole crumbed prawn. It also came with a delicious homemade tartare sauce. The fish and chips was nothing to complain about but I thought it was pricey at $16.50. Unfortunately, there was a sign on the front door saying that they will be closing down on the 28 April. It’s such a pity as this is a really nice little shop across the road from the beach.
