L. G.Nice tavern with a lovely outlook over the valley. Would have been nice for the fire to be going instead of a little blow heater. Meals were nice..very generous sizes. The service was a little scattered.

R.My Compass hotel....The food excellent and is of top 5 star restaurant quality and just to die for and plenty of it as, well as beautifully served...The band was just a touch to loud for this small hotel venue although excellent professional musician's and played well known older style rock songs...we defiantly will be back again and my friend and I, Highly Recommend Mt Compass Hotel for a excellent lunch or dinner experience...Big Thank You to the staff and owners for a great night.
P. W.What's not to like? Great pub atmosphere, Pirate Life beer on tap, live music most weekends and good food scoring a comfortable 8.5 on the old schnitzelometer.
D. M.We just ate the best Barramundi with Greek Salad and Sweet potatoes. Live music was fantastic and lovey staff .

P. S.Young lady that sat us down, and was at till when we placed our order, seemed a bit frazzled but set up a table for us quickly.
Our meals -
Entree Bruschetta had way too much butter on the bread, and the bread could have been toasted for longer.
Mains- Creamy garlic sauce on schnitzel tasted like it was powder mix.
Kilpatrick topping shouldn't have cheese, would have been better if bacon had been used. If you're going to keep using ham, try to fry it up before putting on top of schnitzel.
Was ok for a cheap schnitzel night in a pub, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend to others. Sorry.

V. F.We came for dinner and I had the 200g burger. It was okay, for 2 store-bought dry patties, and slices of kraft singles cheese, and an overdone egg. Dripping with relish.
I ate it to be polite to my guest who paid.
They had a steak and said it was cooked well so that's something at least. And the chips were good.
Expected some music or something but just the loud shouts of the crowd and staff instead.
Such a shame too, it could be such a nice place if some attention to detail was invested.
I guess the perk of being the only pub around is that you can do whatever and the locals will still come.
Not very accessible.
But clean, and tidy. And the staff were nice. Prices were okay, but a bit high for the quality of the food I experienced.
Maybe we just got them on a bad night.
n.HUGE meals. They have a dedicated fryer for gluten free. GF salt'n'pepper squid was awesome. Everyone was super happy with their meals. Very reasonably priced. They went out of their way to help with dietary requirements, making us confident with our choices. Nice atmosphere, decor and fireplace. Highly recommend.
C. M.Ordered a takeaway pizza, a Supreme (without pineapple as i'm a bit of a purist 😉.) Service was very friendly and efficient, from the lady who took the order to the bar man who held the door for me as i left. And the pizza - honestly one of the best i've ever had! The dough and crust were cooked to perfection with generous, flavoursome toppings including mushrooms and onions that still had their crunchy texture. The selection of dishes advertised on blackboards looked quite nice, too. And it's a lovely historic pub, with lots of original features and old photos, and a nice covered outdoor area. Very happy to recommend the Mount Compass Tavern!

I have been here for the Thursday schnitzel night, and I have been here for the regularly booked bands. We always have a great time. Special thanks to Lois for not using balloons 😊. J. C.Not too bad. Meals are good. We had lunch on a Tueday so a bit quiet. Wine Selection and freshness not fantastic and service a touch slow. Was a little cold in dinning room so we moved to front bar area due to wood fire going. In fairness we didn't expect the fire to be lit in dinning area if we were the only ones in there. Decor may need a little updating. Staff was nice and overall we were satisfied with our lunch. Atmosphere could be totally different on weekends or night time. I do recommend to give this place a go.

Located in the centre of town you can't get a better place to stop on the way through to or from Victor Harbour. Take your time and enjoy the atmosphere.
