A. H.Arrived to an unattended reception and an uncleaned room, thankfully that's where the problems ended.
There had been issued with a new charger that were quickly sorted out by foh staff and the rest of my stay was as pleasant as it could be.
Expect high noise levels due to the club below and all the maintenance issues that come with a heritage building (set your expectations low) and you won't be disappointed.
One of the cheapest places to stay in Brisbane.
I. G.Great hostel. Stayed here for a week and had a grand time! Shout out to a bunch of the staff - especially Dougie and Shawn. As well as the small bubbly bartender/receptionist who enjoys the company of travelling chef's who live in the hostel. Watch out for the handsome guy named James, I hear he is on the lookout for a wife!
L. T. V.Nice old lift, very nice and awesome to ride in, but it does break down every now and then, not too often though, but that’s probably because they use a not so good maintenance company, maybe change to KONE or Otis, but it’s still awesome to ride in when working

The community vibe led by the staff is exceptional. If you let them, they really make it feel like home.
My only gripe is the PowerPoint locations in the rooms. Best bring an extension lead or powerboard.

S. S.Just amazing hostel and the working team . Great bar especially on Wednesday’s . Every single team member are just great . Special mention to Matt, Jason,Lauren, tamara, Amazon, sam, Andy, Ben, Dino, shaun, and everyone else I know but missed here. Great location in the centre of the city. Everything is just in a radius of 5-10 meters. Close to central station, bus stops and plenty of restaurants and bars around. Great prices and amazing heritage building

p. a.I had a room in nomads when i came here to checkin there is this beautiful lady named amazon at the reception. She is so adorable, sweet and humble when i request her to give me the room in first floor she tried and make it possible. After the check in process is done i was talking with her for few minutes and she is really good in the conversation.i will definitely visit nomads next time just because of amazon.

Jason was so helpful from changing my booking, to giving farm advise, to explaining the hostel app, deff best receptionist I've met in Australia so far. Will be returning here next time
M. O.Stayed mid-week and decided to go back for a weekend. If you love historic Australian pubs, don't miss this a stay in this rare Federation style hotel. It is probably one of the few that has not been extensively redecorated. The 110 year old building is known locally as "the People's Palace' because it looked so grand with its octagonal tower, dormer windows, extensive cast iron verandahs and rooftop garden was originally intended for workers. It was also a temperance hotel - yep... a pub with no beer. Now that's something to tell your friends. Inside it still has the pressed metal ceilings, ornamental niches and the original timber lift. While the building is a little worse for wear the service is excellent (10 point to Sue!) with everything you want in a hostel except a pool. But then it is the closest hostel to a bus of station in the whole city so you're not far from anything.
E. R.Absolutely fantastic hostel right in the centre of town, super clean rooms and great people. The management team are very friendly and helpful, Matthew and Jason particularly went out of their way to make sure I felt welcomed and had a great stay. Place aswell as price is amazing. Could not find a better location in Brisbane! Good vibes with people always around for a chat and a laugh! Reception are willing to help with everything. 4 Pines and Down Under bar underneath are great for a drink in the evening! Amazing rooftop / sun dec with views of the city. Overall it’s a clean and happy hostel with friendly staff. Highly recommend staying here! Can’t wait to stay again one day.
A. B.My experience of Nomads has been very good, I’ve been here for some time and really have very little to complain about. The highlights of this hostel are the comfort of the beds, social aspects, and great facilities including washers, driers and bathrooms. The kitchen is a little small for the amount of guests that there are at times but you can’t expect everything for such a reasonable price. Joas is one of the guys on reception and he couldn’t be more helpful, friendly and polite! The rest of the staff are equally as awesome even down to the friendliness of the cleaning and housekeeping staff. Overall, a great stay, would recommend!

Had a great stay at Nomads Hostel. All staff were great helps and very friendly. Made welcome being a solo traveller. I loved that they had beer pong every night, great way to make friends. The staff that took beer pong were greats especially Michelle! Would definitely recommend!
J. T.Had a really good stay here last week! The hostel is great for young lively backpackers who want to party! the staff were really helpful especially Beth one of the housekeepers who took the time to help me to my room with all my bags as I had just injured my foot.
Overall I had a sick time here and will be returning again!!

M. T.I had a fantastic stay at Nomads! Superb location, near all the main shops and the train station. The staff made my time at the hostel so enjoyable, they host fun events in the Down Under bar on week nights (a great way to meet people).
The reception staff provided me with outstanding service and a smile. They are terrific, Rosie and James were so friendly and went out of their way to help me. If I had any questions they would be happy to answer them. They were welcoming, efficient and extremely approachable. I would return in the future.

Would recommend if your looking for a friendly place in the CBD area. Ella was the best organizing the events downstairs!!

Amazing historical building with all the original details, including an old vintage style lift that’s adds a nice touch to the feel of this hostel.
Rooms were nice and comfy and we were only a stones throw away from the middle of town.
This hostel also has a nice little bar/ club next door for when you fancy a drink!
Would definitely recommend to anyone passing though Brisbane!:)
N. H.One of the better hostels I’ve stayed in, cleanliness is the bonus. Helpful staff too, especially when needed to stay extra nights. Great use of discount for the bar and food downstairs! Fans and aircon during night quite loud but earplugs provided.

B.I was checked in by James who was very helpful and informative, Rosie answered any questions I had about where I wanted to go and what i wanted to see, especially when venturing out on the train as the station is just over the road. You can meet loads of people here especially in the bar downstairs. It is so central, you can really get the best experience of Brisbane. Loved my stay!

He was super friendly and helpful and gave us a good room as he knew we needed sleep after camping for two nights! Place was clean and comfortable. In a good location too! Thanks again Mike!

The hostel itself was old but had everything you need like a kitchen and washing machines etc. Would always see staff in the kitchen keeping it tidy and cleaning which is rare in a hostel. B. L.I was originally meant to stay for only 2 nights. Found the staff very friendly as they helped me book onto activities and helped me extend my stay. Rooms are very comfortable and the air con is really good. Bathrooms are nice and showers are good.

X.The hostel is nice and the beds are comfy but was a bit annoyed that about 40 minutes after getting there we had a knock at the door and it was one of the girls that worked there asking us to leave a review so she could give us a voucher for $5 chips or a cocktail at the bar downstairs. I told her I’d do it later as we just arrived and was just relaxing and we weren’t up for it today so she left. The next day we then got another knock at the door from the same girl asking if we had left the review yet and told us she can show us how to do it. So I did it anyway and she gave us the voucher and we explained that we may go down that same night for the chips ‘yeah do, they’re nice and it’s a big portion that will fill you’ she said. We went down An hour later for us to be told they don’t do it on Sunday's??!
L. V.This is the best place to meet people and make friends. I stayed for 4 nights and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Highlight of the place is the girls that run beer pong in the down under bar. Really happy and inclusive. They made my night!

S.The location of this hotel is very good, including the bar downstairs. Its clean and and has friendly and helpful staff, like Jennifer.
They also offer free bbq or pancakes, if you want even a free walk tour trough the city.
Great Hostel
s. s.Probably the best and the cheapest living option in the city. You meet people from all over the world. Small library that's really cool to read a collection of books. Nice kitchen t cook. A beautiful heritage lift. A world famous down under bar and the great rooftop makes it the perfect place. The staff especially James, Henrietta, kieron were very polite and excellent.
S. A.The stay was great, Brisbane was a dream! The hostel had nice rooms with comfy beds. Everyone was super friendly to hang around, both other travelers and the staff, especially the nice Swedish girl Jonna who helped me with all my questions!
K. ..It's not terrible, but has so much more potential.
The elevator is a old relic, that I don't trust, and the single rooms are on the very top floor. The bathrooms are acceptable but the kitchen fridges do not look like they have been cleaned out for a few weeks. And my phone and laptop don't seem to like the internet.
This place could be so much better, but I feel that the friendly staff are perhaps understaffed and over worked. Leading to neglect in some areas. Over all, it's a back backer hostel through and through.
The view is pretty nice though.

L. H.I have stayed at this hostel a couple of times as I’ve been travelling around and it’s honestly a great place. The location is really good and an easy walk to the shops & southbank. The rooms are cleaned everyday and kept in good condition. There is also a bar underneath the hostel which has really good night especially Tuesday and Wednesday! Definitely would recommend staying here and the price is very reasonable!

P. P.First time staying at a hostel (Nomads) and it was as I expected, ok. Though the rubbish you can see outside the windows in the rooms are dirty, reminding me of some streets in Asia. Bathrooms differ in all floors, some in better condition than others. Though I like the card locks for the girls toilets and showers, nice and secure. The taps in the showers of some are rusty and not secured properly. Rooms have dust in corners (as if swept to corners), so not so spotless but appears clean overall. Well this is a heritage building so don't expect much in the way of modern comforts. If anyone wants a nice quite sleep, it is so noisy until the early hours of the morning with their night club downstairs (that do offer some good deals for staying at the hostel). So bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Staff are bubbly and friendly. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and don't mind the party atmosphere it is good value for money, though not so much if you value your sleep and personal hygiene.
V. H.People at reception and housekeeping are so friendly and hel where ever they can. Especially Michelle and Lauren are so helpful. Had fun at beer pong a lot. The hostel itself is super close to every thing and gives you great opportunity to go everywhere you like. I would Definately recommend it.
E. K.Awesome stay! If you are travelling to Brisbane, stay here! The stuff is super friendly ( especially Milu), the facilities are very clean and the location is perfect. During my stay here, I slept in 3 different rooms and I never had any problems with anything.
D. R.Location was perfect I was leaving for work at 4 o’clock and only had to walk 200 m to catch a train. Staff are good craic and always able to have a laugh. Everyday we got fresh towels and cleaners sorted or room out, 8 dollars for a dinner in the evening and always 5 dollar special for drinks

K. W.Nomads Brisbane was a pleasent stay! The rooms are spacious but can smell a little funky (the building is very old) and have lockers and a couch which was nice! There is a/c which was wonderful as well! The location is great, right across from central station and within walking distance to anything you could need. The staff were very friendly and helpful! The elevator is kind of a pain as you usually have to wait a couple of minutes for it to come to the floor you’re on, but overall a good experience!

V. D.Nice place for backpackers, well priced and ok rooms with adequate cooling. There was quite a bit of noise from the outside bars, but all in all an OK place to stay if you're on a budget. Restrooms and showers are shared.
E.Some rooms have great air con, but most don't and rely on fans instead. The kitchen gets hot but everything works. The bathrooms are dated but they do the job.
I've bumped my rating up to a 3 because the beds are really comfy, I love the roof terrace and it's a great location in the CBD.
l. b.perfect location, fun party hostel highly recommend to any young backpackers who wants to have a little fun and a good party ! the rooms were good you had enough space for your stuff, you can buy padlocks and other great stuff at the reception. the people behind the desk were a mayor help for me, they told me everything that i needed to know, Jennifer and Milou are great fun as well we had a good talk. Milou helped me in to my room and Jennifer invited me to the pub crawl, that was one of the best nights I had in Brisbane!
T. M.Stayed here multiple times on our travels and it was excellent. The facilities were clean but a bit of a walk from some rooms and some girls complained they had to go to a different floor just to take a shower. The location is great. Staff were happy to help, and well located.

It is very affordable, reasonableness clean and has very friendly and helpful staff. For men personally the main highlight was WARM BLANKETS on the beds. Like any hostel the bathrooms arent like the Hilton and the kitchen could use a repaint BUT, everything worked as they should, the staff were friendly and kind, and we all looked out for each other.

They have an awesome backpacker bar below the hostel with great deals and something new and fun happening every night.
They have a pretty big kitchen and the communal areas are great, especially the one on the roof.
Would highly recommend to anyone traveling through Brisbane.
100% will be back on our way back down the coast.

C. E.Overall, not a terrible place, but it gets insanely loud at night due to one of the biggest backpacker bars being located in the basement of the hostel. Could hear the music perfectly from my room on the third floor. If you don't mind this or are looking for a party, you'd probably enjoy your stay.

Ø. S.The beds are good, the staff very nice and it's a good location, also a good bar. But the rest is bad. As other people say it is loud, but I guess this hostel is a "party" hostel. I stayed at Summer backpackers for a few days and found it much better. The WiFi is very bad her, they got free WiFi in reception from 7 ams to 7 pm, but it takes 15 sec to load a normal site. You can buy WiFi for 4$ but it is even worse than the free one.

I. S.I absolutely loved staying at this hostel. I stayed for about a week when I was there for work. Central location, right opposite the train station, which meant coming from the Airport was super easy. It's also real close to all the shops. There is also a rooftop area which gets the sun all day and was lovely to just sit and relax during the day
The staff were also really lovely and went above and beyond if I ever needed anything. Even one of the cleaners (Sue I think her name was) was friendly and would say Helllo to me in the morning if she ever saw me. The bar next door does the best Arancini Balls, on one day I had them for lunch AND dinner.
I didn't have any plans towards the end of the week and there was a travel desk at the front of the hostel which pointed me in the right direction of things to do for the day. They also have a Job Desk at the hostel to help guests find jobs, which I thought was a great facility to have, especially at a hostel.

On top of this, Abi at the travel desk was absolutely amazing and helped me plan the most awesome east coast trip so cheaply!
Finally the location couldn’t be more perfect! You’re right next to central train station and in walking distance of everything you’ll need!

K. F.The hostel is ok for the price with a nice roof top, however there is a club downstairs which has loud music pretty much every night. The kitchen is big with a smallish tv room. The only real problem I had with hostel was it had a lot of refugees staying there and they overtook the place especially in the kitchen where they left it a state and were very noisy and had no respect for the backpackers. It probably wouldn't be a problem for friends travelling together but as a single traveller I would have liked to have been around other backpackers and to hear English language.

y. m.Its an very old but also a very clean room. Its best part that it's located next to central station so it's easy for tourists and backpackers to look around Brisbane. But due to its old texture, it doesnt have any air cons, has only one power outlet and no private toilet. Personally I recommend going in winter as air con wouldnt be needed.

E.I stayed in a single room, which was very nice given the price. Can be a bit small if your the type to over pack. The room was also fairly noisy at night dispite being on the 4th floor. Oh and the one elevator in the buliding doesn't work and as far as I could gleen hasn't worked for months or only rarely works.

V. B.I came to Brisbane early in the morning and couldn't go in my room until 2pm which was ok. I could put my stuff in the luggage room and could go and explore the city. It's 5 AUD for cutlery and a cup (you get it back when you give it back), Kitchen is ok; It has everything you need (except an oven) and was very clean. You can get paid work to work in the hostel. The whole floor where my room was on had a very weird smell. My room was ok, as I think people should try to keep their room clean. Bunk beds, Sheets provided, was not too loud and could sleep well. Spend 2 nights there. Bathrooms were clean.
T. M.Heaps of different people to meet and just overall fun. Room mates were very considerate with me getting up for work early. On my last night, the fire alarm went off at 3am, the whole building was evacuated and I had to wait in the cold for half an hour until they let everyone back in.

They have many rooms for differents choises, room for one, two, four, ten or fourtheen people.
Large kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. They all clean !
Also, they have club downstairs the hostel, so you can have fun and be safe if you drunk at the end on the night.
So, don't think too much and just book it !!!!!
