Stayed here for two nights on a trip from MEL to BNE. It was a budget option in the city center; the room was clean and the house keeping was good.
The aircon was very bad though; the room just wouldn't cool even after the entire night. Also the parking ramp was way too narrow for SUVs; we almost bruised our car's passenger side doors.
Overall, more like a 2-3 star hotel.
D. A.
Needed to stay in the city overnight and frankly they had the best room rate I could find.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. On arrival they helped get the car parked, only $25, before worrying about checking in.
The rooms and linen are clean and the facilities adequate. For the price you can't knock it.
Only downside for us were the super soft pillows. Will bring our own next time.
This was over the weekend. It is right next door to the Queens wharf construction but didn't hear a thing.
Would stay here again.

Nice people at reception, but does not meet the minimum requirements for a 4 star hotel. That is not to say its not a nice clean decent place. I'm talking about the very specific requirements (which one can google) that make a hotel of a 4 star classification. It doesn't tick all of those boxes. But I was pleasantly surprised anyway, considering the price.

A bit more run down than the pictures give off. Nice cheap accom right in the heart of the city however you get what you pay for. Probably wouldn't be as bad if we didn't need to declare that we would dispose of needles in a correct manner and the clientele weren't so....rough...or junky... 🤷♀️
T. S.
It's a cheap overnight stay in Brisbane!
Restaurant was shut for breakfast and the rooms are very basic advertise as a 4 star hotel but more like a 3 star.
S. _.
The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was clean. The aircon wasn't as cool as we would have liked but it was battling with 94% humidity at the time .

If you're looking for a hotel that is central to everything and easy on the purse strings, this is the place for you.
Booked into an executive room for 2 nights. I suggest requesting one with a spa. The extra few dollars it costs is definitely worth it.
Was surprised to see how massive the spa was. It took up one whole corner of the room. The only downside is that it's not a complete tiled area. Two steps down and you're standing on the carpet in front of your bed. The decor is a little old fashioned but the bathrooms have been renovated with a more modern feel.
Staff were great. Called up for extra towels, coffee and sugar without it being a problem. There's a guest laundry which costs $4 per washing machine and dryer.
For a quick cheap getaway, I'll definitely stay again

I read a lot of negative reviews about this Hotel, and after booking in today i can assure you thaylt this Hotel is pretty good, nice clean modern rooms, very helpful staff, close proximity to all of the attractions in the CBD, 5 min walk to Casino, DEFINATLY a 4 star+
Thanyou, i think i'll stay tmrw!!
M. B.
super large room & clean - location perfect - could do with some renovation but the value for money is outstanding as is now!
S. L.
Really good value. This hotel is more of that bang for your buck kind of experience. Staff here are very friendly, professional and helpful. I found the room very clean, pillows were fluffy and soft and mattress felt really comfy as well. No fancy view but we were on the 5th floor facing the river so plenty of daylight coming through. The staff also without fuss upgraded our room to our surprise when we told them the guest next door to our room were throwing a party till 4am.
D. F.
Building and room looks tired. Hallways leading to your room are a little creepy.
Car park is so small and tight to navigate.
T. T.
Wonderful accommodation. Staff are very helpful and welcoming . I love how it is located right in the inner city and near botanical gardens.Price was very good for us 3 guests... I totally recommend The Great Southern Hotel just perfect 🙂
N. J.
All was good but did not like the king bed was 2 single beds zipped together with no bed topper. Did not have a good night sleep.

Thou it advertised a pool through our booking there was no pool and my daughter was excited to have a pool for her birthday HOWEVER the staff were amazingggggg compensated my daughter's 20 birthday with wine and chocolates. 24 hour desk gives a sense of security and safety. So close to everything. We are returning in July. Thank you for the great experience.
I. A.
Great and affordable place to stay in the middle of china town and close to the CBD and famous landmarks. However, the shower had so many flies in it and for some reason our booking was without room services so we had to stay for two days without showering.
A. P.
Usually, we like this hotel. However, this time the room (608) wasn't cleaned very well. We arrived in the evening and once we got back into the room after dinner, both my partner and I, had a histamine reaction. I only get such reactions, when there is a high number of dust mites. A bit disappointing.
N. W.
Great affordable hotel in a good location for transport, Short Walk to Queen Street Mall, Southbank and Treasury Casino. Staff always really welcoming too. There is construction work across the road as you can see from our room, but to be honest it didn't bother us at all.
I. K.
There was a small problem with our room but the front desk were more than happy to help and changed our rooms without a problem! The room was spacious, clean and had a modern feel to it. The hot breakfast was exceptional and the cook was very obliging and friendly. The location is right near city centre and very close to public transport and walking distance to the local markets, museum, Goma gallery and probably much more! Overall the hotel had a very nice welcoming feel to it and came with a great price.

Great Hotel..basic room Great location for the city
N. O.
Good value for the price. Check-in fine. Good sized room. Room and linen were clean, bed comfortable. Good location, with several Asian eateries in area and hand to shops, offices. Only a few things needed attention, such as a gap between wall and skirting board in a corner, but nothing that detracted from stay.
J. J.
These guys for the price you pay offer some of the best and most flexible customer service I have encountered in hotels in brisbane.
Sure it's no frills, a room with a bathroom, however the staff are friendly, helpful and just great.
C. M.
Ok bathroom could do with a better clean,
And removal of broken rail mounts etc may present it alittle better.🛠
Mold was visible in certain areas which were missed.🧫
Reasonable price for a night stay.✅
Alittle outdated and quite small rooms, but has the basics you need for an overnight stay.
View was from the 13th floor ... better at night.
Staff were wonderful.✅
It was in a key location thou.✅
O. K.
Loved the location, view from our clean and cozy room and hospitality of Mr Salman.
It was all worthwhile, especially in the times of Covid.
Couldn't have asked for more for the price we paid.
B. T.
Clean hotel. Good value for the price. Conveniently located.
H.
We stayed in a standard king room. It was HUGE with plenty of room. The ensuite was a bit small for the size of the room. The furnishings, carpet and paint were very outdated but they are in the process of renovating.
Great value for money considering the location and the room being very functional, just not visually appealing due to outdated style.
Room was clean bar a little bit of mould in the bathroom, but nothing major.
Staff were also friendly and welcoming.
We would definitely stay here again.
S. P.
Hotel reception are really friendly.
Rooms are usually quite clean, although have had some rooms that smell a bit musky.
J. S.
Cheap rooms. Staff are polite n they have spa rooms. I had a spa room before, but the last one I stayed in was awesome. The room was huge. For the price I paid it just blew me away.
S. A.
The room was clean, but the receptionist lack of smile. We got king sized room that contains towels, and 1 soap+1 shampoo, but you can ask fir more amenities at no cost. Breakfast start from $9.
J. M.
Mold in bathrooms. They wanted to charge an extra $20 per hour to set bags inside when there were rooms ready. Bizarre, and you get what you pay for. Comfy beds and we only stayed two nights. Fine, but don't expect nice and new!
L. B.
If you super easy going and don't mind the whole Pablo Escobar atmosphere of the hotel, you'll be fine. It also helps if you're not too picky and demands clean blankets and fresh smell. The experience is all about hairy-dirty-blankets and tobacco in the air all night long. Not to mention the fights and hustle and doors slamming at 3 am. Don't get me wrong I love the fun. It's just that in my case I had an important test early in the morning and was hoping to get a little sleep. BUT THAT'S NOT INCLUDED IN THE $25 BUCKS I PAID JUST TO PARK. In a underground junk yard. Seriously. There was a pile of junk in the dirtiest parking lot I've ever seen. But hey, it's all fun and games when you pick the cheapest accommodation of all. It's what they say, you pay for what you get.
Ps. I almost forgot to mention the piles of dirty towels and rubbish bags in the floor of the hallways. Good times!
Ps 2. The staff is very friendly 🤷♀️
L. S.
We stayed in Brisbane for the night to go to Moroton Island. We loved our stay. Such a good price for such good value. They were so hospitable and welcoming. Close to everything. Spacious and nice view of the city. If you want a hotel at a good price go with this one. Thanks staff!
J. J.
Location was very convenient for meetings I needed to attend nearby. It was one of the cheaper accommodation options in the area, and provided good value for money. Of course you usually get what you pay for.
My room was spacious, tidy and clean (a relief after reading some earlier reviews). The front desk staff were courteous and helpful. The restaurant provided a good range and quality of food in a timely manner.
The buffet breakfast however was a little limited and had poor quality coffee. I ended up buying specific items from the menu with proper coffee which was actually cheaper than buffet option.
Overall a good experience and I would be happy to return.
M. Y.
Great location and good value for money. Spa room with huge jacquzi is a total jackpot ,but need to invest on bedding( mattress) ,carpets ,curtains ,aircond(not cold) and furniture.
G. A.
Spacious rooms, but lacks a few amenities. The hallways tend to smell, and even the lift at times. The cook/server at the breakfast restaurant is pretty good, and the food is tasty.
J. B.
Room was on sale at the time so even though it was the cheapest, we had a great quality experience. Service were very professional but also pleasant & good-humoured.... midnight concierge (20/1) was fabulous & had a great rapport from the minute we staggered in the door @ 2.30am! Room was very cold, yes but after sweltering in the heat of Friday night @ a concert (Passenger, Botanic Gardens), it was very welcoming. Was a retro-style room with all our needs catered for e.g. hairdryer, iron, kettle, TV, fridge. The only disappointing factor was the bar & restaurant downstairs, were in the process of being renovated with all new equipment. Would be awesome to see it finished. Hotel also has a pool & gym with paid parking right next door. My friend & I suffer from major back problems & the bed+pillow was like sleeping on a comfortable fluffy cloud :-) we thought it was quite clean
D. J. S.
Helpful through the booking process, a couple of issues with the TV that went unanswered but we eventually figured it out. Convenient location and were currently river views for some rooms with the giant casino construction across the road. Construction volume was not an impact for us during this stay.
A. H.
Great staff. Rooms vary from poor uneaven single beds pushed together at the low cost level (not flash or comfortable) but, for a few $ more you get a MASSIVE room with a proper king bed with a disco lit spa barth...
Shame the spa didn't work... great room though.
Also a tad noisy at the mo due to construction works over the road.
I would stay again, however would avoid the lower end room.
Pic is of the raised spa in our room.
J. F.
It's really cheap but it is an old hotel. The staff are always very helpful and pleasant though.
There are spa rooms there for not to much more $$$.
L. C.
This hotel is great value for money. A budget hotel that is a little tired but very clean and tidy.
Just a pity the pool was closed due to covid 19
L. Y. (.
The hotel offers luggage storage, a 24-hour reception and a dry cleaning service. There is also private parking on site for guests travelling with a car.
Great Southern Hotel Brisbane features 99 air conditioned rooms. Hot drinks can be made with the provided coffee and tea supplies.
The hotel is ideally situated for discovering Brisbane with Queen Street Mall, the City Botanic Gardens and Brisbane City Hall within a 10-minute walk. It is also within walking distance of Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
M. C.
The location of The Great Southern Hotel is ideal for all travellers because of its closeness to a variety of restaurants, city activities and the Treasury Casino.
When looking for the hotel in a car, it is easy to find. There is parking available (first in, first serve rule) for $25 a night. There is limited parking due to the ongoing construction.
The reception is easy to locate and the staff who served us where friendly and efficient. To stray at the hotel, you need a $100 security deposit.
There is an elevator available for guest use.
The room (we stayed in 1103), was large enough for a reasonable night sleep. We stayed in the 2 King Zip Room. The room upon entry was clean and tidy. The beds had fresh blankets, however, only one pillow for each bed. The air conditioner worked well.
The room has all the amenities required for a good night stay – tea and coffee making equipment, toiletries and towels.
The view we got was of the Brisbane River and the construction site. Currently, it is a good view, hopefully the new building does not ruin this.
Overall, a very good hotel to stay at which I would highly recommend.
D. H.
A favourite place to stay. Excellent location in the city, always friendly staff, onsite parking, rooms are great, fantastic price.
S. F.
Stayed for two nights for business. Service was good, room was nicely set out with a view.
TV only got a few channels, had to pay for any movies. WiFi is free for 3 hours then you have to pay for more. Food is good but coffee isn't too the greatest, recommend the Cafe next door.
A. G.
Very close to everything in the heart of Brisbane. Room was large, quiet and clean. Basic but adequate facilities. Don't expect pay tv channels or sewing kits or selections of soaps and shampoos. Staff friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.
G. W.
It's a bit old hotel, service is good. There is a small gym and a pool at the 3rd floor. Breakfast has 2 fix menus and good. Wifi is free and open. Good for a short business visit
M. M.
Booked for business trip. Great location and near to attractions for after work to explore.
Booked standard queen room and two single beds just pushed together to make an unlevelled queen size but that didnt matter to me as I just slept on one side.
The construction work opposite the George Street goes on throughout the night so make sure you can sleep through it. It was fine for me as I can zone out easily.
Breakfast was filling. Got the hot plated breakfast.
Overall it was a good experience and fairly cheap for what I booked. Don't worry too much about the room itself. Go out an explore the streets.
k. s.
We stayed at great soutbern hotel in Melbourne and knew what to expect. What i want in a hotel room, is clean room comfortable bed and everything working. We are staying two nights and for what we paid very happy. You cant get 5 star if you dont pay 5 star. We are going to footy so it is also convenient. We will come back
J. M. S. (.
Stayed on a deal for 2 nights, had we have paid full price it would be 2 stars. Room was small and house keeping was a bit half done. Service was friendly. Breakfast was good, but again included in our package the full buffet. Bit run down in general and pool area was clean but scruffy. Probably wouldn't stay again especially if paying full price.
V. P.
Great location and views of the river and bridge, but earthworks was happening next to the river, that disturbed me in the night- poor sound insulation. Had an Executive Room. Spacious room, with Spa, but the hotel was a bit aged. No moisturiser in the room. In the morning, breakfast in Restaurant was a weird experience- a buffet, but no going back for seconds. All in all, would love to go back- after all the earthworks.
N. E. J.
Great location. But the building is pretty run down. Room is worn but clean. Window is cracked for my room. You need to pay for parking though. $25 per night. Very tight parking space within the building.
D. S.
This was a great stay. They have apparently renamed it and possible rebranded it. Our room was bigger than rooms in sydney. American size king size and roll away. Very clean. And the location u can not beat for the price. This hotel is walking distance from a mall, South Bank, fast food, train station. It was perfect and plan to come again. We only stayed 2 night but next would love to stay longer. We did purchase the room with a view so our view was amazing.
J. S.
For its rate it's an alright place to stay but it's not super special. I booked two separate rooms, both with an iPod docking station/ radio and WiFi. Only one of the two rooms didn't have that docking station and just one chair, the other room had two. When I entered the room, the air conditioning, the radio and the light was switched on, not very environment friendly. The shower in my room could have been a bit more "focused" instead of all over the place. When I booked the rooms, I was excited to be able to go the hotel's own gym and indoor/ outdoor pool. Both facilities (outdoor pool only) were rather disappointing and not well-maintained. The ladder to the pool was unstable and the water ice cold. There wasn't sufficient lighting either. The gym was a cabin with a very old treadmill, a bike and a dusty weightsthingy, not sure how that should have been used appropriately. There was no water supply and the place looked rather messy. The hotel breakfast was alright but if you wanted decent coffee, you had to buy it. The hotel staff however was very friendly and helpful and the hotel was quite clean.
M. K.
A perfect location on George Street. Not in the heart of CBD with heavy traffic of car and people. Close to some of the best Asian restaurant and the Casino. A good river view of South Bank. My only rating for 3 is the room that needs upgrade to new. And the air vent needs a major clean up. Not recommended to be in the room for too long.
V. A. N.
The staff during daytime are a bit cold but still friendly. The rooms are large but feel old and rusty. Bad lifts. However, no other hotel can beat this hotel location and prices. This place should have an overall renovation then it would be perfect.
T. A.
King spa room with a view.... Much smaller than our previous spa room which did not have a view. First room we were in was dirty and seemed like an old motel room... Second room was better although the bed really was terrible, half of the bed was higher than the other half. We have stayed here many times but probably won't return. Also have been waiting for money to be returned to my partner's account
a. j.
Very thankful for an early check in after a red eye flight. But $2 per bag to hold when check out seems so early. Maybe 10am is standard for Brisbane? Good room. Comfortable bed. Lots of construction in lobby but didn't affect us. Would stay again.
M. K.
Very friendly. The breakfast was good and a lot and a total plus you could get water at any point. Of skmething was not right, the personal was looking for solutions very fast and the tips for sightseeing points from the reception was on point.
D. R.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly and professional front desk team. Late check outs are charged only $10 per hour and can be as late as 1pm, which I believe is very good value for money. However once in our standard queen room we discovered the furniture, including bedding and mattress, were well past their used by date. We also found the standard queen room to be extremly small, dark amd claustrophobic. We requested and were granted an upgrade to a king river view room and paid.the difference. Unfortunately the furniture, including the heavily stained and ripped up mattress, were extremely past their used by date. Cupboards, walls, fixtures and fittings were heavily marked and worn. Room was very dusty throughout. Air Conditioning had no temp control as it was faulty. Hot water was also unavailable for a period during the evening. Great view from king river view room although Windows were filthy which really took away from the beautiful Brisbane river view. Overall staff were friendly but certainly would not stay again. Over priced, out dated, poorly laid out dirty rooms. Much better options available in the Brisbane CBD.
S. L.
I was really nervous heading here esp after reading alot of negative reviews. However when I got there, every staff I spoke to or meet along the way were so polite and friendly! The reception were really helpful and the bar staff gave great customer service. I didnt eat there but really enjoyed the happy hour cocktail which they make great cocktails!
My children used the pool and it was really clean and was right for them.
The room was clean and even the bathroom. The hotwater pressure was perfect and loved that it was hot!
One of the cheapest hotels in the city and location was perfect 10mins walk to southbank and just2 blocks over from Queen St it was great.
I went with my 2 young children and a friend and we really enjoyed ourselves.
I cant comment on the car park as we trained in and no problems. I did read that parking is $20 a day but there were other car parks across the road or around the corner for like $8-$10 for the whole day online.
J. B.
Stayed here on my birthday , upgraded my room for free . The room was amazing couldn’t recommend this place more , value for money 10/10. The staff are the best part of the hotel , very friendly and professional . Thanks very much will 100 percent be staying again .
L. M.
Great Location, Close to River Stage & Museum.Shops & Mall
Friendly staff, Rooms are nothing flash but its the location that's great, Showers are terrible, no pressure. Parking is not included in your stay price so an extra charge But..Our Family enjoyed our stay & we would stay again Thank you
D. F.
Near perfect stay and experience at centrally located hotel offering great value for money. Staff are friendly and the room was large and modern. They is a small courtyard offering a tiny gym and a small swimming pool. There is a slightly overpriced restaurant at the lobby area - didn't eat there however was busy which is a good indicator.
K. G.
Lovely, friendly staff. Convenient cbd location. Bed & pillows were comfy.
J. V.
Rooms are OK for the cheap pricing and location to all city stuff ..carparking is crazy at $25 to hope there is one available as limited spaces they have..pool was clean decent and only real annoyance was one towel for a couple ..plenty of hand towels tho if u get despo bahaha
I. H.
Great Budget Hotel in an excellent location with on-site parking. The staff here are very helpful too!
R. H.
Really nice stay here, very clean rooms and excellent staff - always very helpful and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Really good location, near shops and short walk to the bridges to south bank.
Would recommend this to anyone on a budget or looking for a great location in the city.
A.
We had taken two rooms. One was a family room and another a double room. The family room was really dated but the double room was renovated. Fortunately we were offered rooms on the 12th floor which had amazing views. An extra star for the view ☺.
K. F.
Hotel is clean and has improved a lot since the last time we were there. Definitely the cheapest around the area near Queen street mall and is near our favorite asian resto just around the corner from where the hotel is. If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel, this is the place to be. BUT then again, if you the buck to spend, I'd always go for serviced apartments.
J. “. M.
Great staff, rooms are basic and dont loom at the paint jobs. The excersise room is a weight machine, treadmill and bike but weight machine and treadmill out of order. Easy to access hotel though and great location
D. d. B.
close to where we needed to go, front desk were all lovely and very helpful, the room was everything you needed to have for a couple nights stay, comfy beds, I just suggest if you wish to use their parking facilities you get there early as it is first in first serves.
F. S.
Amazing place,on arrival we had to wait awhile for our room,so the lovely guy at reception helped us out and enjoyed our stay over looking Southbank.
N. J.
Very surprised how nice the rooms are considering the price.
This is my new "go to" hotel when working late and needing a place to stay.
A. P.
stayed here for our anniversary.
great location to southbank. good food locations around.
free wifi was a real plus.
staff weren't rude but at the same time... they were not overjoyed to see guests.
appreciated that they bad decaf coffee in their kitchen supplies. floor smelled recently cleaned. walls were a little thin but that was oK by us because we weren't going to be staying there long.
we had a car. It was $20 per night to use a car park. terrible car park. very very small and not a lot of parks in total. would hate to be in a 44 but luckily we were give a small hyundai for a rentAl. a note does mention that they couldn't guarantee a car park but we went out and came back at 11pm. The door was shut. had to get out and go in to reception for them to open the door. then we found a shortage of car parks. went back to reception who told us there was definitely car parks one left on the ramp.
would stay again but wouldn't bring a car.
J. T.
Affordable accommodation, however not well insulated and rooms are loud. The hotel is old and run down, but if you are just after a place to crash for the night this place will suffice.
E. D.
Room was nice, clean and tidy. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. An overall pleasant stay.
T. M.
I stayed here for 4 days recently with my wife. We had a very relaxing time. I recommend a visit here simply for their hospitality. In fact, the whole hotel is very clean. The hotel's location is very convenient as you can walk almost anywhere. The price is very reasonable.
R. C.
Nice hotel to stay at in Brisbane. Close to everything, Southbank just a short stroll over the river. Only trouble with the Great Southern Hotel, the overnight stay was just not long enough. Next time it will be a longer stay.
Y. M.
Great location. Very affordable. Not 5 star but all you need. Spacious room with 4 single beds.
m. w.
Service is excellent, those people whose were working during Christmas.
are very good, do their best they for keeping good service. But equipments inside the building are all very old.
One of lifter was out of work, during Christmas
P. T.
We often stayed there while we visited Brisbane starting from three years ago.. the rooms and service were pretty nice at that time.. car parking space is attached with hotel so that we can park the car easily... but during these years, the hotel cleanliness and services are leading downsides .. carpets have odour and rooms are outdated.. the staffs at the reception are not very helpful..
J. C. V. L.
Great hotel in a great location!
N. H.
I like this place. Not a lot, but I do like it. The staff are friendly and attentive in accommodating your every need even if it isn't always with an ostentatious smile. I think the building that is now the hotel has some prestige to it - creaky floors and drab old school interiors which have clearly been renovated recently. I think this is the Rendezvous hotel chain's modus operandi. Also, fabulously located in Brisbane's city centre.
The only two gripes I have (the former of which is a future potential deal breaker) are that the bed was not comfy and the sink was blocked.
J. M.
My experience the Great Southern Hotel in Brisbane was a very pleasant facility at an affordable price. However a $100 fee is required before booking this can be paid in cash or via credit card pre approval. The credit card pre-approval may take a few days to be returned cash is returned instantaneously. Other than that I appreciate it be able to choose whether I had a high room or a low room. So I chose hi room and got a gracious view of the Brisbane river, Southbank and seven news merry go round. I will definitely stay here again
T. M.
Great location in centre of city. Close to shopping mall, casino and Southbank. Cheap parking is very convenient. While it is a little dated, Hotel is undergoing renovations. Staff were helpful and polite. Recommend this hotel.
H. D.
Room very clean staff really friendly and helpful I lost my phone and they did everything they could to help until I got it back thank you
C. M.
Good location and a reasonable price on special. Room was spacious and well presented. Only problem was a noisy ventilation system and the lift.
R. D. D.
Very clean rooms. Close to the CBS and the breakfast was great value for the money. Highly recommend for a short or long stay in Brisbane.
L. K.
Although the room looked dated the reception staff really go out of their way and we're so helpful. Breakfast was also excellent.
C. S.
Very nice spacious and clean room, friendly staff, and a nice breakfast with coffee- no complaints from me, although some decaffeinated teas on the room would be appreciated.
R. B.
The room was nice, large and clean. It's cheaper than other places in the CBD but they nickel and dime you on little things like internet and luggage holding.
k. g.
It was a nice hotel, close to everything. During our stay there was construction work going on across the street which started very early in the morning. Our view from the hotel and the spa in our room. We were on the 12th floor
R. B.
Decent inner-city hotel. Reasonable tariff and while not central, is in close proximity to the city. Does not attract me enough to want to stay again, there are no complaints to make.
k. b.
The Great Southern Hotel is a grate budget stay in the city its close to everything walking distance to SouthBank and Westend. Queen Street Mall is just up the road. staff are great a special thanks to Mathew who couldn't do enough for us .
M. I.
Very convenient to Brisbane CBD. Across road on diagonal from Casino. Rooms comfortable.
Has had a few changes of ownership
Parking available.
Have stayed here a number of times.
R. D.
Central. Pretty old but right in the CBD. Rooms are a bit tired. Prices are reasonable for where it is.
K. M.
Stayed here in September 2017 rooms very clean beds great not a lot of product in room but would recommend it as its a stones throw from city shop and eating places and a lot of site seeing would stay there again
D. M.
Room was dated but clean. Our vehicle was secure. Staff were welcoming and professional. Would stay here again.
준.
Everything is fine. Clean, tidy, nice service and location. Just one thing I regret is our view on window blocked with serveral other buildings outside. I mean that it was not city view but building concrete view. Pheew
P. G.
Clean and comfy, but quite old. Breakfast very good. Some people there could have been more friendly.
D. W.
Great location, 100m walk to casino, hotel and room comfy but dated. Parking cost extra $25. Overall good value for a short stay
S. H.
The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and clean. It was a pleasant stay overnight.
V. S.
The room was a bit battered. The bathroom exhaust fan was noisy & couldn't be turned off. Only 1 key card for the 2 of us. The restaurant only serves breakfast.
w. m.
Always love staying here. We/I always stay here when in Brisbane.
It's close to town and all public transport ❤

Great little affordable hotel in the middle of the city. Very nice rooms with views to southbank.
T. W.
Conveniently located for the Queen Street mall and a short walk to QPAC.
Look for specials and they do have secure parking but apparently round the corner is less expensive. Clean comfortable rooms. Woulsstay there again.
T. L.
Nicely preserved old building room was very clean and comfortable staff were courteous and accommodating. EXCLENT location just a stones throw from the Casino and Southbank parklands, an enjoyable stay
K. W.
Staff very helpful and kind. Rooms clean except the back of TV it looks like it has never been cleaned.
T. B.
Rooms are a bit dated and the entire place needs some TLC. A good place for a cheap night in the city without the frills. Great buffet breakfast though.
I. R.
2 guys got a pants down in pool. After the geelong l vs brisbane game. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Best game of pool I have seen. And they were so entertaining aswell. The band even got in in the act! Great fun and a great night!!!
E. K.
Lovely room, but could do with something to differentiate it. Lobbies could do with some renovation. Reception service great, breakfast service good.
B. G.
Nice rooms. Great staff. Cheap price for the Location, and is close to great entertainment and restaurant's. Will stay there again.
L. G.
Good location but a bit tired
P.
It’s really nice a place to stay. So clean and the staffs are very helpful
B. W.
Comfortable, clean, fast access to taxi, good location especially to Exhibition Centre & CBD, good staff but light on amenities thankfully we had our own soap etc
A. W.
Nice for an older hotel.
The mattress was terrible, could feel and see the springs. Very hard and uncomfortable.
F. C.
Great! Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, handy location - wonderful!! Thank you. 👍😊
A. R.
Stayed there with my partner, the spa was amazing, was clean and lovely receptionists. Will definitely come back
C. E. (. E. D. L.
Rendezvous hotel was adequate for an overnight stay. Definitely dated, but pretty clean with friendly, helpful staff. I've started in worse.
A. M.
Yes, a little tired but for the price was a bargain. Clean room, comfortable, friendly staff and perfect location. Would stay again.
S. G.
Some rooms have great view, and some don't even have enough sunlight. Wi-fi is paid on a daily basis.
D. A.
Average. Clean and well placed, rooms a little dark and dingy.
S.
Great hotel to stay when visiting Brisbane and need a cheap bed. Cant fault anything.
L. T.
Room had a spa bath in the bedroom. Staff are friendly. I liked it
R. L.
I only went for about half an hour to visit friends. From what I saw, everything seemed nice, what you would expect from your typical hotel.
L. T.
Nice place. Restaurant at the bottom is well priced and tasty too. It's adjacent to a lot of nice restaurants and beer gardens. Ideal for those travelling on a budget.
D. G.
Rooms are ok but no tea and coffey facility in the room . They also take100 bucks deposit very old fashioned.
C. K.
Excellent service, great rooms, friendly staff and they we more then happy to look after our bags until our room was ready!
S. L.
Good prices, convenient, interior could do an uplift. Seems neighbors can hear the TV on even when low volume, and someone could turn off my TV remotely.
B. B.
Room was large and comfortable, if a bit run down. Value was great, staff were excellent.
M. K.
Room was comfortable with a good view of the river. The bed was nice and firm, and service was efficient.
D. C.
Average little place, staff were nice. Even gave me an upgrade, to 2 kingsize beds for 1 man hahaha!
N. D.
Great location, nothing special about the room but no complaints either. Good place to stay overnight.
A. C.
Woke up at 6am because of the construction site right next to the hotel. So distasteful to hear continuous jackhammers.. The hostel was fine.
T. K.
Loved staying!!! The food and accommodation was luxurious and sumptuous. So glad I stayed.
D. R.
Not a fan of casinos - but did like the beautiful heritage building this one is housed in. However as a casino it has all the normal attractions and services you would expect as you spend hours transferring your money to the casino.
G. D.
Great hotel, staff very friendly close to everything walking distance.
G. D.
This is a middle of the road Brisbane Hotel which often provides good value at just iver $100/night. Depending on what you are doing in Brisbane will determine the relevance of the location.
S. S.
Very helpful staff. There was an issue with my booking and they accomodated patiently.
S. M.
Good size rooms, bed was okay but not great, lovely staff and room was clean
S. H.
Very Pleasant room with a slightly dated decor clean & tidy and exactly to my taste
With polite and helpfull staffatff
This one I genuinely reccomend
簡.
This hotel has a very good service and cleaning room, that why I love this hotel. But, the hotel room is old, I think they have to rebuild their room.
T. L.
Room was extremely clean, bed was comfortable, awesome shower pressure and hot water.
A. S.
Great price and stay! Always helpful and flexible!
T. C.
Beds are very hard, but have stayed here before with more comfortable beds before, so can't complain too much
H. W.
Renovations were tiresome, only one working lift. Overall a but run down but still a good place to stay and excellent location.
Z. P.
Stayed in a budget unserviced room. Nothing fancy but it was a place to sleep, comfy enough, but the aircon struggled a bit to cool the room when I first got in.
D. S.
For the price we paid, the location was great, walking distance to botanical gardens and close to South Bank. Rooms perfectly adequate
J. S.
For the price this was a really good and central hotel. The cleaning could have been better and everything is very used.
J. P.
Great hotel with big and comfortable rooms and very well located, very good value for money! Recommended!
K. V.
The room was nice but very basic no balcony so a little bit overpriced
A.
Room was good for our purposes, staff were professional, good location close to everything we needed.
M. F. S.
Accommodation good but no restaurant 😕
K. N.

J. E.
Very basic, but clean. Great location & views. Good if you are on a tight budget, but nothing special.
B. W.
Place is under renovation, hence the lobby is quite unsightly, rooms are nice with good view of the river, Wifi is NOT free

S. P.
Was a really nice room and the staff was so friendly I would definitely stay here again
H. S.
Rooms were a decent size, with limited in room facilities. Carpet and furniture dated and worn.
L. M.
Very basic, bit of a musty smell throughout. Does the job if you're just after any old room.
C. N.
Good for the price. Bed was clean and comfortable. Close to restaurants.
P. C.
Room was good for the price. Location close to queen street mall. Parking is very tight.
L. L.
Great location. Very clean. Nice service. Lovely breakfast
S. K.
Clean hotel worthwhile for the price so long as you can do without done of the small luxuries of a more modern hotel.
M. L.
Well when got there bed was already slept on and i can't believe there are no bedspreads on beds that make it look decent
K.
For the price I can't complain and the location is excellent. The view from level 14 over the river is mint.
Y. K.
Room was pretty basic.
Awesome location with car park.
M. C.
Excellent hotel with views across to Southbank, handy to just about everything in Brisbane with free circuit bus across the road.. and great restaurant too
M. M.
no cookiez for coffee
D. A. A.
It was very nice place to stay and economical too. Early in the morning I saw parade on road, a wonderful scene.
J. N.
Good little hotel for the price, however it does not look quite as modern or fancy as the pictures on their website make it seem.
E. D.
It really worth the money! If you book directly from their app, it will be cheaper! Staffs are really helpful & friendly.
C. C.
Rooms clean and staff pleasant although bathroom was very small.
