M. D. S.What an amazing hotel! We stayed here as a family with two adults and two kids. The lobby is funky and staff were friendly. Rooms were modern and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were lovely. Being right in the heart of Braddon you are close to restaurants, cafes and a range of awesome shops. Underground parking available, just use your room key to swipe in and out. Note: the website states it's 2.3m clearance but actually it is only 2.1m. We only just fit with a roof box on top of our car. Definitely recommend it.
S. L.I absolutely love staying at The Avenue! It's my go to every time we are in Canberra, which is quite often!. It has amazing and friendly staff who go above and beyond to help out or sort any issues. They have been so busy with being short staffed due to the covid outbreak and they still put their smile on for us. It is incredibly clean, has ample parking, great services and the beds are to die for. You can not get any more central either. We also love dining at the Marble & Grain restaurant, it's food is superb. I can't wait to come back again!! I have even started making excuses to go to Canberra just to stay here!

C. N.Stayed here for 4 nights. Super clean rooms with underground parking for guests. Conveniently located and in walking distance to cafes, restaurants and shopping centre. We booked here (unknowingly) on the weekend of Summernauts was on so the streets were a little crowded and obviously noisy at night with the cars but overall, I would stay here again.
B. S.Room as a 1br unit and was nice, spacious and clean. Front Reception staff (Nate?) greeted us and was plain rude! Argued the nightly rate with me despite me calling the night before and speaking to a girl that quoted a price for me and took my credit card details. The ala-carte breakfast was terrible and the empty dining area at 7.30am, despite the hotel being quite full, should have been a hint for us! Despite the nice room I will try somewhere else next time!

We booked 2 nights and had a comfortable stay. Room had amenities such as tea, sugar and some toiletries. Room needed a better clean as the bedside table and alarm clock/radio had a decent amount of dust on it. Balcony was also dirty.
Hotel is very close to Canberra center hence there is plenty of shopping and dinning options all walking distance away.
Tried the breakfast buffet which was satisfactory for the cost of $23 per adult. It had the basics like sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, toast and there was also a capsule
coffe machine. You were also able to order poached eggs and hasbrowns separately as you pleased.
Room service is available and we tried a couple of breakfast dishes from it. Dishes we tried were tasty and had a good portion size. Defintly worth it for the money you spend.
Underground Parking cost $10 a night and there was plenty of parking spaces available.
Overall it was a good experience and would stay here again.

W.Not a 5 star establishment - sheets dirty, cups not replaced, very basic amenities, pillows very soft and we weren't informed of any options to change them as per our experience with other 5 star establishments, milk or tea sometimes not replaced, and housekeeping sometimes didn't clean the room (despite us turning the light on "in time"). Reception staff were always excellent however, and it's close to all the restaurants.

Reception was empty on arrival and depature! Not what i expect of 5 star accommodation. Room was pleasant, spa bath was devine!!!! Despite not working properly. Bed was large, and the hardest bed I've ever slept on, i couldn't sleep from the constant humming and rock hard bed. Spa bath is the only highlight, so book spa room if you decide to book.
S. T.Great hotel, will definately stay here again. Best quality condition in every aspect of the place. Didn't get a chance to try the restaurant attached directly, but the room service provided was excellent. The view from the room was great and the curtains blocked out all light when fully closed with the windows blocking out mostly all the noise. The rain shower was so enjoyable and refreshing.
C. O.The first time I came here the bed was so comfy, this time they had stuck two soft single beds together to make the most uncomfortable sleeping experience you will ever have. They said they couldn't change the bed because all their beds were two singles stuck together. The room was very hot, the air con is very weak, you will need to keep it on all night on a hot day. The so called "balcony" is 30cm wide. If you end up in tower two on the side of the street good luck sleeping on friday or sat night as there is a rave club pretty much right across the road. No fly screen on the roller door so no chance of fresh air. The wifi is terrible and phone reception is poor also. On the plus side, the location is excellent and the rooms are clean.

Blackout curtains are quite effective. Had to call up 3 times to get an extra pillow as they are quite low/flat (maybe that works better with the soft beds?)

Rooms are spacious, nicely appointed, the double bed was so big I almost lost my partner and the mattress was super comfortable. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly.

V. V.The Avenue is a great place for families. Have been many times over the last few years. Rooms are always comfortable and the balcony is a bonus for a nice view. The best thing would have to be the customer service. Always friendly and they had a kids pack one time we were walking through reception which made my little ones day!

The price wasn’t too bad, and the location was perfect. Waking distance to wonderful restaurants in the area.
The restaurant downstairs serves a fantastic buffet breakfast, which I think was only $23 or $28. Do recommend!
Room however was not very clean. There was dust on the food packets/on the slots above the minibar. Under the bed had all sorts of trash and dust. Shower was mouldy. I’d be surprised if most of this was cleaned in the last year (especially the dusty areas).
Not that I am a clean freak at home, but I wouldn’t want this in a hotel I’m paying for.
I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

U. M.I had a really great time staying here for almost 3 weeks. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well kept with really good furniture, personal mini kitchen with cutlery. The fixtures are new, and the design quite contemporary. The dining and room service facilities are top class as well. Location wise, this hotel is located within the Canberra city center, and the shopping center is on walking distance. I loved the fact that during my 3 weeks stay, I was often pampered with complimentary chocolates and goodies.
B. L.The staff and accommodation are great! We had a 2bedroom apartment and it exceeded expectations. So close to the main shopping centre as well. My only issue was the bed, we had two king beds and they were obviously 2x king singles put together however this made the centre of the bed hard, I’m sure it was more noticeable by the fact the mattress itself was extremely soft. In my opinion they should provide a king mattress to stop this as they are promoting king coil as a product and on the 2night stay I certainly would never consider buying a king coil mattress.

J. M.Service at Rececption upon check in was much friendlier and attentive versus their sister hotel Deco. The room was large and well equipped but the WiFi is slow at around 2mbps. That's a deal breaker for me (it's 2021 get with the program!) but based on the better customer service I am giving this hotel 3 stars instead of an automatic 1 star.
P. D.Had a great experience at the Avenue Hotel, right up until check out. We had been given a $10 voucher for forgoing the daily servicing of the room on our first full day. We presented the voucher at breakfast and it was accepted without comment. At checkout, I was informed that the condition on the back was that the voucher could not be used with the discounted breakfast. The staff member was very happy to not honour the voucher but not prepared to replace it. It's such a shame that the era of customer service is now just a distant memory...
B. A.Had a great staycation in a two bedroom apartment. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed, including utensils, plates and coffee machine.
Beds were extremely comfortable, staff were pleasant and it was super quiet. Will definitely stay again.
M. B.I stayed here recently for a number of weeks on a work trip. The apartments are spacious with lots of light and all the amenities to make life easy. If you forgo your room being cleaned you can put out a sign at night and get a $10 credit to use in the restaurant for food or drink, which is a nice touch. It’s close to lots of shops and restaurants as well. The one item I would suggest them changing is the hair dryers as the lead is really short on them but I still give them 5*s

The one bedroom apartments are a great size and easily large enough if you wanted to stay for a lengthy period of time. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The Avenue also provides ample parking at a great daily rate.
S. B.A nice cozy place to stay, very close to good restaurants. Parking is a little difficult to navigate. Staff seems very angry or unhappy, couldn’t make out. Rooms were comfortable. Didn’t try their dinner so can’t comment however the breakfast was the highlight of our stay. It was so exotic, the spread was huge and vey very tasty. Scrambled eggs, mushrooms and sausages just stood out for me.
J. K.We stayed in a one bedroom king suite which was really nice, brand new and spacious. The common areas are great and the room furnishings were great too. The service was also fantastic. This would have been a five star rating but a few little things let them down, the toilet seat was broken and wouldn’t stay up, there were no mirrors in the bedroom, they didn’t replace the body wash when it was finished (old one removed, but not replaced) and the internet was painfully slow, assuredly so you would upgrade to the paid service. I would still stay here again on value, but if you looking for seamless they have a way to go yet.

Breakfast each morning was so delicious (thanks chef's). Staff & cleaners were friendly and reception and lounge area on the ground floor are very funky and warm. The hotel is walking distance to some great restaurants as well.
We'll definitely recommend the hotel and also be back for another stay.

B. M.If you're coming to visit Canberra I couldn't think of a better place to use as a base. The amenities were top notch and the service was fantastic. The spa suite didn't disappoint! My only warning is the noise from the main drag can be a bit much, but that's worth it for the proximity to the tram, the Canberra Centre and the best food and coffee in Canberra.
A. B.Clean, neat and functional. Decor feels a bit soulless and austere, but the location is really great. Only a short walk to the thriving restaurant district of Braddon. The staff are very professional and attentive. Also an easy drive to the airport, and right on the new light rail network.

Massive rooms, really well kept, large flat screen TVs in the bedroom and living room. The room is more like a self contained apartment rather than just a room , so great space. Conveniently located close to the city and just a quick drive to most of the tourist sites. Would highly recommend. Free parking when you book directly with the hotel too so really handy.

There were a couple of things we weren't completely happy with - the doona was far to warm for us - we had to turn the air con down to 15 degrees - and there was only a thin cotton cover as an alternative - where as a blanket would have been perfect.
The toiletries weren't restocked when the room was cleaned which was a bit annoying. Also, we ate in the restaurant, which was on the whole terrific - but, Husband's steak was overcooked.
We would stay there again as it everything was so close to perfect and it is such a great location.
J. B.This is a really beautiful, recently renovated hotel. The room and bathroom were immaculate. The attention to detail on the finishings was great: beautiful art, lounge chairs, desk, and headboard in the room, as well as tasteful glassware, and an excellent selection of bar fridge and snacks options. There was even a good-sized balcony with tasteful stools and a table. The bed was pretty comfy, and when I called up to have them bring more pillows, the service was prompt. I love that they have a reasonable pre-order booked breakfast option for $20 in their restaurant. This is such better pricing compared to other buffet breakfast options, and the food turned out to be pretty good. Overall, I was really impressed with the service and attention to detail in this hotel. Would go back.

Close vicinity to restaurants and cafes. Marble and grain breakfast was just ok, not even a proper salad or fruit selection, which was rather disappointing. Extra sofa bed for $50 in the 1BR apt. I didn't try their restaurants as the place to close to number of popular restaurants. A short walk from the main city centre. They provide complimentary tea and coffee sachets ,kettle,etc . Recently stayed at Avenue with my parents and sister for a family event. Our two bedroom suite was spacious and comfortable. We were only in Canberra for one night but would definitely consider Avenue for a longer stay.
R. D.I got a very cheap room through Qantas frequent flyer. The whole place is very nice and clean. It's not like a typical luxury hotel that is very gratuitous, but everything but everything is of good quality. The airport shuttle was not available and the milk frother didn't have the correct spinning mechanism. I'd go again if I got another discounted room.
J. H.Spa suite was everything we hoped for. Rooms are kept in very good condition - ours specifically with a nice balcony, two quality televisions, comfy bed and a sizeable bathroom. Room service was quick and enjoyable.
B. M.Stayed here on short term (1 night) and long term (2 weeks) stays, both experiences were excellent. A stay of 3 or more nights will earn you a stay in one of the Avenue's Serviced Apartments - which are one of the cleanest and well-fitted apartments I've had the pleasure of staying in. Fully furnished kitchen with oven + microwave hybrid, dishwasher, stove-top, and appliances. Makes cooking a viable option when you don't want to eat out every night. The staff are wonderfully supportive and responsive to requests - I once headed out in the morning and asked for a replacement hairdryer, a brand new and upgraded one was provided when I returned in the afternoon. Furthermore, Marble & Grain provides one of the more hospitable and quality buffet style breakfasts I've experienced, all for $20 when you pre-book, just be sure to get in before 8am. I'll be returning here soon.

We had a double bedroom and was super comfy with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a super large lounge room and dining room. King size beds in both rooms was wonderful and my 6 year old daughter loved it.
Only reason I have rated the hotel down a star was the food. It really was let down by very substandard service in the the restaurant. We had a breakfast package and highly recommend to not eat there. It was terrible. Service was horrible coffee was atrocious and it was dirty.
We cleaned our own table by placing the plates and coffee cups to one side. We ate (reluctantly) were there for about 1/2 hour and left. The plates were still there. Horrible food for the cost.
Suggest you stay at the hotel which was super pleasant and then find a nice coffee shop to eat breakfast. Coffee Lab around the corner was nice.
B. C.Bright clean apartments. The layout was great with kitchen area lounge seperate from the bed room. two balconies over looking the street allowed lots of light into the rooms. bathroom was very clean. Friendly staff. I will be staying here again when I visit.
T. T.Location is perfect, Canberra centre is just 2 min walk. And there almost got all best restaurants. Close to ANU as well. Room equipments are nice and space is huge. But the breakfast is a bit disappointing. And the bed is too soft, can't hold your back at all.
A. P.This hotel is very central for the Civic and Braddon areas. Renovated throughout it provides all the amenities you’d expect and makes a good work hotel. The room I stayed in, while large and well appointed, did feel a bit sterile though and the outlook onto Northbourne Ave means you will have pretty constant road noise.

I. G.The spa suite was very nice but I didn't get a 5 star 'vibe' from this hotel. The room had everything to classify it as such, but just felt cold and not very inviting. The carpets and fixtures felt like they had been bought in bulk and just placed in the room as part of a checklist. They had no soul and made the room feel efficient, not plush.
There is a serious issue with phone reception in the rooms which means that using the in-room wifi is a must, but in order to make a phone call you pretty much need to go outside.
Friendly staff and good food in the restaurant downstairs. Will return for the spa only.
A. B.Friends of mine who were visiting me stayed here. I saw the room which was nice but I honestly thought average for what it's worth. Not to mention classically excessively stocked mini bar with no complementary milk to go with your complementary tea or coffee let alone space in the fridge to store what you might buy yourself. This may be a small gripe but something that would annoy me to no end if I was a visitor. Besides that it's clean and very well located.
B.We had a spa room which was a nice size and obviously recently built/refitted. The spa is excellent. Good sized TV's and the bed was also extremely soft. Overall a recommended stay.

B. T.Stayed for a night for business. For the price I paid which ended up being about $150/night for their basic room, it was a fairly decent value. Whilst not a true 5 star hotel compared to what you can find in other cities or Asia; in Canberra, it's probably about the best. Rooms and bathrooms are adequately sized and clean. Staff polite and generally pleasant. Parking though comes at an extra cost of $10 except if you book directly with them. Breakfast can be prebooked at $20 and is average as hotel breakfasts are concerned.
P. E.Great location. Rooms are a good size and they havze a decent restaurant on ground level (where they also offer an excellent breakfast buffet). It's clean and tidy. Got the room on special, not sure if I would stay there for the full price.
W. S.The hotel is very nice. It's modern and very up to date. Rooms were hot and wouldn't want to stay in hot weather. Air conditioning didn't work and when it did work it would turn off when you left the room to go for a walk or to sit on the balcony.

A. R.This hotel was near perfect for us. We checked in expecting a room but instead got lucky with a one bedroom unit. We were a little apprehensive on what to expect from the pictures of the room on trivago but were in for a pleasant surprise once we stepped into the room. The condition was near new with all the creature comforts one could ask for. Even the lifts and corridors were well maintained. Plenty of parking in the basement so you can be rest assured there. The only let down was there was that the mobile signal was very weak inside the room. Marble and Grain, their in house restaurant serves a decent breakfast for $20. A shout out to their waiting staff member by the name of "Saaltak" for his exceptional customer service. The rest of the staff were nothing to rave about. They dismissed my husband and me to the outer dining area in the cold until Saaltak went out of his way to find us a table inside the restaurant where it was nice and warm.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the 7th floor. The Avenue is in a pretty good location in the city. Access is via Northbourne Avenue and parking is undercover, secure and free! Whoohoo! No nasty surprises there! The Avenue is within walking distance to the theatre, movies, shops, malls and plenty of great eating places. Just a really short drive to all the fabulous icons around the lake. Lovely, clean, spacious, well equipped and serviced apartment with extremely comfortable King size bed, self adjustable air conditioning or fresh air via the veranda doors which overlooked a pretty courtyard. The bathroom had a huge shower with very nice usable amenities. Our room was quiet, the service friendly and breakfast very reasonable with a good assortment of foods which included fresh expresso coffee, yay! (Also had lactose free milk!)
Yep, we will be back, this place beats the more expensive but very tired places we have stayed while visiting Canberra recently!

Generous rooms but very sparse facilities. Sadly coffee is done on the cheap using a Nespresso machine. Room was not cleaned thoroughly with pizza and other stains in chairs andstreaks of dubious origin on the balcony balustrade. All minibar items are auto charged so be careful when picking them up just to have a read.
3 stars as it was reasonably priced and once clean it's an OK stay for 2 max 3 nights

It is near impossible to sleep if even a cat walks past on the street below. Every single noise filters it's way into your room. Made especially worse when there are a bunch of drunk idiots yelling and laughing from the apartment balcony across the road. If you're going to stay here, book a room on the inside atrium area.

One strange thing was that they have Nespresso pods in the room but we were given each day 4 decaf pods and one normal which was pretty useless when you wanted a Real coffee. I. M.It was our second visit, but I didn't like it this time.
At check-in I had to ask how to get to my room instead of being told where it was. "I wrote it down for you", said the receptionist. Who does that? Writing down a room number doesn't substitute welcoming a guest and directing them to the room.
If you're a family with children, forget about trying to relax there after putting kids to sleep. There are many very bright lights that will keep you as alert as a fleeing kid. There is ONE floor lamp in the living room that emits about zero light. So, you're got two options: being blinded by the hospital grade overhead lights or sitting in near complete darkness.
The same story in the bedroom. Trying to read without disturbing someone in the other side of the bed? Forget it. You won't be able to see anything because the side lamp is useless.
The hairdryer has a tight coil of a cord and unless you're an athlete with freakishly strong fingers, you'll spend the entire time pulling the heavy gadget over your ahead and also squeezing the handle to keep it working. I understand they try to deter people from stealing, but it was just too cheap for an "exquisite" hotel they aspire to be.

L. W.It's my first time to be charged for parking inside the hotel, especially 5 start hotels. As a resident staying in this 5 starts hotel, paying aroung AU$10 for one night stay is ridiculous. When I booked and checked in, there was no information metioning it. Aside from that, there is reviewer on google saying it was free for their parking. I feel it is really unfair. However, the male staff was friendly, kettle was new and clean, T2 tea bages were provided, so I added more stars for this review. Otherwise, this is one star due to this unfair and unreasonable extra charge.

Best restaurant in Canberra within the hotel. It's refered to as a European steak house, but their range is far beyond this title, exceptional food, PADDOCK TO PLATE beef, for real. You could probably get the name of your steak it's such a closed loop, amazing. 30km from farm to chef, that's gotta be one of the closest I've ever seen, unless you put a restaurant on the farm, I don't see it ever getting shorter distance.
I'm not sure how many canberra hotels are 5 star, but this is my first Australian one.

No shampoo and conditioner, apperantly you can buy shampoo and conditioner from them, and hair dryer from woolies. No toaster. Kettlte is black inside, it is disgusting. Very old and unattractive. You can't adjust heater. Can't cancel 30 day prior only. I will not recomend at all. Stay away from this place as far as you can.
