After an 11 hour drive from Brisbane, We arrived on Friday night with no booking, the young lady on reception was so friendly and helpful it made our day. We loved the old world charm of the building with modern conveniences. Food was yummy, overall we had a great stay, thanks. Plus we had a large Ute and car trailer and they allowed us to park in the secure parking.

We stayed recently for 2 nights in one of the pet friendly rooms. The service at this hotel is fantastic, everything is done with a smile and you’re made to feel very welcome. The courtyard off our room was spacious, clean and made a lovely area to sit of an afternoon with a wine in hand. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants a short walk from the hotel which we really enjoyed being close distance to. The bathroom didn’t have the best ventilation but this is only minor feedback as overall we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Mecure Canberra. 😁

A beautiful heritage hotel with old school charm and a wonderful sense of hospitality. The reception area is stunningly original with wooden staircases either side of the check-in desk. The courtyard has a relaxing vibe with lovely arrangements of bright florals. Rooms are welcoming with tea and coffee facilities, seating areas and most have balconies to overlook the gardens. The breakfast was also delightful - full buffet with eggs available to order as well as barista-made drinks.

A pretty place with a bit of history and lots of new or renovated rooms. I really enjoyed my stay here as well as my time at the spa.

It's always a pleasure to stay here and our last visit was no exception. The location is excellent, the rooms are spacious, quiet and clean and the staff are always very helpful and polite. Lam has checked me in twice in recent times - most recently when my daughter and I stayed. She is very friendly and welcoming and I almost feel as though I'm being greeted by an old friend when I walk up to the reception desk and she is there. Mercure Canberra is fast becoming our go-to accommodation in our national capital, and they even have pet friendly rooms now. We love it.

Attended the faulty towers interactive dinner. We had a great night.Great food and entertainment. The Mecure is a beautiful old hotel and venue.

A Grande Old Lady, packed with the charm such an historic hotel commands. The welcome from reception, the quaint nooks to enjoy a chilled wine and friendly bistro provides a relaxing experience. The rooms are spacious and echo the Art Deco vibe that is evident in its bones. The hotel is comfortable, restful, in a great location with very accommodating staff. We will visit again!

Been here a few times now with our dogs. One of the best hotels in NSW/ACT that is dog friendly. Big enough rooms and quite a nice size private courtyard attached to your room
Your even allowed to sit inside for breakfast (not in the main part) with the dogs which is particularly nice on those freezing winter mornings.
Would recommend

Great value for money. Our stay at the Mercure in Canberra was lovely. It’s a central motel, not far from the cbd (only a $8 Uber ride). The room was functional, large and warm. Breakfast was yummy and the customer service received from the staff in the breakfast room and reception was faultless. I would definitely stay again.

My 4 day stay for a conference at the Mecure was excellent. The rooms were modern, the meals were of excellent quality.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous.
Added to all that the bar had a real pub atmosphere. I will stay there again when next in Canberra.

Great location. Stayed in a loft room. Very spacious, clean and bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Only booked one night and in probably the cheapest room. Room was nice, service was nice, but the cleaning team need to work on their cleaning skills a bit more. Some of the hallways just had dead insects all over the floor and windowsills. I couldn't stop thinking ''this isn't a 4 star hotel" . This is my second stay at a Mercure hotel, but my first time was in Paris, and the difference is massive. I don't think they should be both advertised as 4 star hotels when the differences are this massive. I booked my stay with Mercure in Canberra because of how nice the hotel was in Paris, but I was surprised to see this occasion didn't live up to the expectation I had. Apart from dead insects and poor stair cases, there are no other negatives I can think of. It was a nice place, just didn't feel anything like the same 4 star Mercure in Paris. I understand, budget may be different, a lot of things are, but that should be a good reason for this hotel to not claim they are a 4 star hotel . It's misleading

A lovely place, well worth a visit. The staff were friendly, approachable and always happy to go the extra mile to make my stay more comfortable. The Hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms (I stayed in an attic suite) were full of old-world charm and luxury (including a romantic curved oak staircase to the bedroom). The rooms were SPOTLESS. everything was immaculate with great attention to detail. My room had a great bathroom and bedroom with a lovely balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The minibar was a bit overpriced but when are they not? The free buffet breakfast was amazing and delicious. The room had two TV's which displayed my name when turned on which was a lovely touch. Everything worked very well and the only flaw I could find in the room was a small hole in the side of the phone. Reception could do with a bit of a makeover, (e.g. get rid of the Zoopa Doopa freezer and laminated paper signs) but other than that it was a beautiful building. I loved my stay here and would definitely recommend this hotel, I'll be sure to return soon!

stayed recently, rooms were cosy, and had everything we needed, plus warm plus the housekeeping service met our expectations. The lady who checked us in explained the carparking very well, how to access, the ticket/validation, and helped me get connected to internet so I could download the CBR app. Also the cleaner at reception vacuuming at checkout was polite and stopped when guests were at the counter, and this same person stopped to turn around and greet me. Great training and hospitality. It was a winning location, this was a coincidence for us.
l.
Nice enough motel, a bit dated but then so am I. We used the bistro for drinks and food and as guests get a really good discount on meals. Overall fairly pleased. Only thing I was unhappy about was pillows, why they can't afford decent ones puzzles me, it's what I will consider when next in Canberra. They were like two pieces of material with a piece of material in between!!
S. S.
Old building but clean. Renovated bathroom. Comfortable bed. Parking is easily accessed from the room if you stay in the back building. Breakfast menu should be more flexible by letting guests choose what they wanna have on the dish. Please make it more like a buffet when guests can pick what they want.
Z. Q.
Luxurious service, beyond my expectations! Due to the lockdown, I have to stay in the hotel for one month and a half. Really thanks to all the staff who help me during this period of time.
L. C.
Heritage building with lots of history, moderate walk or a short uber ride to the city centre (under $10). Great pub with craft beers attached to the hotel, clean and quiet room. Rooms are updated and bathrooms are clean and modern. Stayed one night and it suited our needs perfectly.
S. P.
Staff were amazing, food in the bistro and breakfast was delicious. Rooms were clean and welcoming. Doggo's
are welcome. Only thing the Beds, the beds are so hard🤪😱 I couldn't sleep, staff really tried to make it more comfortable for me which I
really appreciate.
J. M.
Quiet, peaceful and economical. Nice rooms, furnished with all one needs on stays in a hotel, with comfy beds and good hot water pressure. Very pleasant welcome and service throughout. Thanks for having us, see you next time!
K. M.
Nice comfortable bed. If I was spending my own money on staying here and not the company's, I wouldn't stay again. I don't believe that it's worth the extra, as a Mercure hotel it's a little disappointing. The interior and rooms are very dated and really in need of a refresh. Yes it is an older building but it can still be refurbished and maintain that old time appeal. However, the staff are great and friendly, the breakfast is your normal kind of hotel buffet spread, probably one of the nicer ones that I've had though. The room I was in was ground level and there was a little outside sitting area but it overlooked the rain water tanks, which isn't overly appealing really! They need to install a screen or something so that it's not visible.

We had a fabulous stay at the Mercure Canberra. Our room was very clean, and comfortable. The front desk staff demonstrated excellent customer service and were very friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the War Memorial & lots of shops and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was great too. We will definitely be booking this hotel again.
S. W.
Lovely old charm. Love all the wooden staircases a step back in time. Rooms big and clean, quiet area easy access to the city. Fabulous garden to enjoy with a glass of wine and a book
J. Q.
Warm and cozy! Wonderful service and real yesteryear charm from one of Canberra’s oldest hotels with an amazing history. A huge thanks to Kelsey who went out of her way to make my Husband’s 50th birthday just that little more special with a room delivery of his favourite beer & some other treats. Thanks Mercure for a wonderful week! We will definitely be back.
O. M.
Mercure Canberra was very nice at first it's not what you expect but once inside it's very nice. It has alright rooms but a very good dinner service not at the fine dining but at the Bistro it is very good. There food is on point and there is many choices. Staff are nice and me and my brother received free chocolates and a free minibar as well as a nice toy. But that came with the platinum package. Parking was $10 but we got it free from the staff would recommend for people going for 1 - 2 nights
R. H.
Spent a night here for my wife's birthday. From the first interaction with staff to check out the experience was awesome. Any of the staff we interacted with wished my wife happy birthday, very special. We also had the seafood smorgasbord. Plenty of choice of fresh seafood & other food, great value . Will be going back in May for my birthday
A. L.
The room that we stayed in was slightly tired looking. The wardrobe stuck and you could tell that the cabinet that held the minibar had seen better days. Also, the pillows are extremely hard which made it difficult to sleep comfortably, therefore I'd suggest people bring their own. I know I certainly will next time.
The bathroom, however, was great. The shower was huge and I like the fact that there was only the one tap so I didn't need to fiddle around with hot and cold taps. It was also nice that I could stand in the shower without getting wet while waiting for the water to warm up, which it did fairly quickly. I loved the huge mirror, and the smaller one that was attached to it made doing my makeup in the morning a breeze! That being said the lighting in the bathroom wasn't the best so I went out to check my foundation coverage in the actual room, where there was thankfully a mirror and better lighting. It would also be nice if some type of hand soap was provided. We ended up using some of the body wash as hand soap, which wasn't so great for someone with sensitive skin.
We ended up ordering room service for dinner and the food was amazing. I got the fisherman's basket and my mum got the schnitzel, both were great value for money. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there wasn't a markup on the room service prices, like there normally is, from what the prices would have been if we went down to the bar. Not only were both meals tasty, but the portion sizes were huge!
The saving grace is really the staff though. Everyone that we spoke to were helpful and seemed genuinely nice and cheerful. There was one issue at checkout when I was overcharged for parking, which I didn't notice until I got back home, but even that was resolved quickly when I called the hotel about it.
Overall I enjoyed my time at the Mercure Canberra and I will stay again.

As an Accor Platinum member I was made to feel welcome and given a loft room but changed to a Superior King, which is better for me. Large, clean and everything was very comfortable and also had a comfy bed. The room service menu is excellent with a lot of choices and is good value. The minibar items free for Platinum Members is much appreciated. There is dinner and breakfast available in the restaurant which is a lovely venue. Food was very very good. Staff working at reception were really professional and friendly to deal with, especially Kelsey. Caitlin in the restaurant was excellent too. Location is handy for those with a car. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it.

The location is central for most of Canberras' attractions, free off street parking, the rooms were clean, linen was spotless, staff were friendly and helpful. The single most excellent item at this hotel is OLIMS Bar and Bistro. Chef Michael and his team of Lukas, Vikal and Azharul provided us with 5 star meals every night. I can recommend the Beef Sirloin medium-rare with Pepercorn sauce, The sensational Sweet Potato & Pumpkin soup, Braised pork shoulder and a Chicken Caesar salad that was the best I have ever had. The Bar has a wide range of beers & wines. My only regret was that we did not know about Breakfast and serched over Canberra at 7am to find a coffee shop that was open early on a Sat & Sun. The Hotel information sheet refers to Lunch and Dinner and I should have asked about Breakfast but I didn't. My bad. We will certainly be staying at the Mercure Braddon again.

Service was fantastic throughout the entire stay. Was able to check in early which was a great start to the trip. Having the option to eat in the restaurant or the bistro at Olims is great especially with young kids. The loft room is great for a family of four when the kids are young and can share a sofa bed. Room is very spacious and well kept and kids love the fish tanks in the walkways. Great place to retire for the evening when visiting the nation's capital.

We evacuated our home in Berridale (The Snowy Mountains) due to the fires in our region. The staff were very accommodating from start to finish. They offered us a special room rate due to our predicament. A special Thank You to Claudia at Reception for her amazing Customer Service and for making us feel so welcome and to all the other Staff at the Mercure.
The location was perfect, the food amazing, the beds comfortable and the rooms very spacious. We will definitely be coming back!
Thank you all once again, we will be referring The Mercure Braddon to our family and friends when they visit.

Our group of 22 stayed at the Mercure Canberra and found the staff super helpful with a couple of small issues we had. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
The hotel is in a great location close to the Australian War Memorial and within walking distance to the CBD.
The food was plentiful and tasty and the bar service friendly and efficient.

Stayed here two nights for work during the week. Located pretty close to the city. Rooms a pretty big and even have a bathtub. Two wall mounted air con units in the room, one downstairs and one upstairs. Upstairs one wouldn't cool so I just managed with the downstairs one. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall would recommend.
S. F.
It was a relaxing stay, and the staff were friendly. However the Hotel itself is showing signs of age and obviously needs some work. Appreciated the complimentary sparkling wine and biscuits in our room for my 60th birthday. Did request that we would have tablecloths on our table in the Bistro (where friends were gathering to celebrate my birthday), but this did not happen. Overall pretty good.
G. W.
I love the decor in the rooms. They are spacious and we always like to look out on the courtyard. It is great to be able to sit by the fire.
However I felt the decor in the bar area needs upgrading. It is a very ordinary atmosphere to have a meal in.
I am sure it was better last time we stayed..

We love staying at Mercure Canberra. Patina and her wonderful team go above and beyond our expectations every time. Staying in a loft appartment is a must when traveling with children. The buffet breakfast is exceptional. We love being able to wander downstairs to the restaurant and bar after a busy day checking out Canberra. Thanks for always taking such great care us xxxx
A. F.
Nice old style hotel. We stayed in loft style and room was in good condition. Staff were all helpful and curteous. When we arrived the Sofa bed wasn't ready and I couldn't get the TV to work but we went for a walk and all was ready and fixed by the time we got back. The bar attached to the hotel always had a good vibe in the evenings. And the buffet breakfast was good. Would stay again.

Was expecting a bit more from the Mecure. It felt a little run down and dated. I was there mid winter and it got cold. Not the coldest but down to 0 degrees during the night. My biggest complaint was heat. There was a small airconditioner in the room and it was only blowing out slightly warm air. I had to find blankets during the night. Staff were extremely nice. Dinner felt like a RSL venue. While it wasn't a bad stay, I would say there is room for improvement. More like a 3.5 star.
A.
Friendly and helpful staff. Allowed me to check in early and were resourceful when I asked for anything. I'm not really into the old school charm of the place. I much prefer modern hotels. Breakfast is not really special. And a three course dinner is nearly $80 a head.
Best part about it is the size of the rooms plus I got a small backyard.
g. c.
We had a very relaxing stay. The surrounds and gardens are absolutely beautifull. Staff are very friendly, especially Dawson i would like to thank personally, for his friendly and welcoming manner whilst we upgraded to a loft room. The room was perfect spacious and very comfortable. The bed was amazing huge and comfy. I would definately look forward to comming back.
Thankyou so much for a most welcoming enjoyable stay.

We stayed here as a last minute stop on the way home from the snow. All I wanted was a big soft bed and we got it! Went for a king room. Was able to score some decent pricing on Wotif which was quick and easy. Check in was easy and the staff were nice.
Our room was spacious, with a nice little backyard. The room we were in has pets allowed, which we will note for the future. Shower water pressure was good and temperature constant. Rooms were noisy though, with clearly thin walls - heard noises from room upstairs and to either side. Bed was very comfy and bedding was great.
TV in the room is completed locked out with an internal system that does not allow you to plug in a USB or Chromecast to watch your own media. I tried a few of the standard tricks to get around it to no avail. We did not purchase any media from the service. Lose-Lose situation.
As for the hotel itself it's past due for a good bit of renovation or tender love and care. There are slippery tiled areas that have warning signs instead of non slip sections applied to surface. The paint around the place is peeling in sections and the decor is dated. For a Mercure branded hotel in the nations capital (OK, it's Canberra, ignore that) we would have expected slightly more.
Having said that the bed was comfy and room was spacious, would come back.
S. A.
Staff are friendly & very helpful. I was upgraded as the 1st room I was in, over looking courtyard was noisy due to the doors from courtyard into building near fish tank-not closing properly & they kept banging against each other when people went in or out. You could hear bathroom taps/showers going on & off at night. Both rooms I was in were NOT cleaned properly.....very dusty & bedside in upgraded room was dirty. May be have someone in charge check rooms to make sure cleaners are cleanly correctly.
K. B.
I felt the hotel ambience left much to be desired. I understand it is an old hotel, but the public areas and hallways really it looks as though it hasn't had any update in decades. There was paint peeling off the walls, the windows were dirty, the carpet was old. An old hotel can maintain it's history and still be up to date.
The rooms were quite nice and it was good to see the bathrooms have been modernised. The food and service were superb though.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the outdoor courtyard at Mercure in October 2017. Its the perfect wedding venue and we were so happy with everything. We had accommodation available for our guests (including bride and groom on the night before and of the wedding); the food was delicious and well presented; the front desk and catering staff were helpful, fun and friendly; and the events team (special mention to Rosa) went out of their way to help us plan the day and made us feel so welcome with special touches like personalised notes in our rooms with welcome drinks! It could not have been any better.
The hotel and gardens are just a beautiful place to spend time in with its 1920's architecture and english style gardens, it makes you forget the outside world. We will certainly come back here to stay and celebrate future anniversaries. There are also good spots for photos nearby, the avenue of trees on Ainslie Ave is one of them. The bistro was also a fantastic place to kick back and hang out with family and friends informally the night before the wedding. Thank you Mercure for the wonderful memories ;-)
S.
Nice greet at reception but could be closer to the entrance. Further suggestions not so much complaints. There could be better signage through the corridors when finding rooms, facilities and reception. A porter if guests have alot of luggage for help being the walk distance to some rooms and stairs. Noise in the room when sleeping, sounded like a heater but it must be the fridge constant clicking and clugging sounds, NITV channel has no sound all other channels do, Foxtel also suggested. Can hear other room doors when they close, abang sound, the bedroom door has gaps can see the light shining through. We think a nice refurbish would be a good uplift to the hotel. Good location spot, nice older vintage but upgrade of furnishings would be nice also. Food was great, room service, compliments to chef and kitchen staff, parking was good busy long wkends. We weren't at the hotel as much apart from arriving back late to rest sleep so didn't explore the hotel as such, but for feedback this was our experience. Thanks
A. F.
Pleasant stay,.clean, quiet and comfortable

An enjoyable stay. Professional and courteous staff.

This hotel is what you need on a trip to Canberra it's convenient, laid back, quiet and nice. Don't be expecting 5 star, you're not paying for it.. While this place could easily be updated with some TLC it's the friendly staff that give boost this rating from 3 to 4 for me. I wish the owners would spend some money and turn this amazing old building into an amazing hotel and it could easily become to savvy travelers pick of places to stay when in the capital.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely architecture. A throwback to the olden days. We got a pet free friendly room for our furry baby and the room had a small grass patch with that big tree. Prefect for any doggy buddy. The room even came with a dog bed and a dog bowl plus a few doggy toys. Can't ask for more. Very thoughtful.
G. R.
Good for a weekend staycation in the city...we didn't book anything flash. Room was small, but very clean. Good service.
A. N.
We have a king size room. It is comfortably appointed and even has a nice balcony. The inner courtyard area it overlooks is serene and I have found some lovely relaxing spots to sit throughout the hotel. I love the Mercure chain. Staff are always friendly and professional and the rooms are always clean.
Have stayed here since my original post. I get next level service and as an Accor Hotels member I also get a few extras when I stay. Staff are always fabulous. The rooms are always comfortable.
N. T.
Pretty hotel close to the Canberra City Centre. Food was decidedly mixed. The room was split level mezzanine (kids downstairs, adults upstairs), but only one bathroom and the air conditioning only helped the downstairs area. BUT they take dogs!
K. J.
We coincided our stay with the last weekend of the month seafood buffet. The buffet was varied, fresh and lovely with some Asian touches and a great dessert and cheese section as well. We were thrilled to be upgraded to a King loft room with a comfy bed, a kitchenette, The breakfast was good with eggs to order and a varied spread of the usual items. We enjoyed relaxing after dinner in front of the open fire. It is a few minutes away from the city shops, plenty of free parking and very comfortable in an old worldly way.

Stayed one night at Mercure Canberra on a weekend. Arrived late (9.30pm) and was greeted by friendly and extremely helpful staff at reception. Rang reception to order room service and specifically asked for one quantity of a particular meal, $15. Received a very large meal (equivalent for two or three people) with two bags of chips extra. Upon checking out, I was asked to pay $30 for the meal, on top of parking costs. Not impressed considering the concierge had overcharged for more than what I clearly asked for. We didn't expect the room to be spotless, though it was quite dirty, especially around the beside tables. The only other downfall was the $10 cost for parking per day, as we were guests at the hotel I would've expected this to be waivered. Other than that, it is a lovely hotel. Easy to navigate around, plenty of available parking and a relaxing atmosphere. Standard room was bigger than average size, not cramped or claustrophobic.
M. W.
Such a lovely place to stay. Beautiful old building. Great location and friendly staff.
B. H.
A historic hotel in a location close to the centre of Canberra yet with a suburban outlook.
This hotel was clean and comfortable and had it's own bar, restaurant and bistro. My wife and I visited the bistro for dinner and were quite pleased with our meals. We also visited the restaurant for breakfast and found the offering to be quite good.
Parking is toward the back of the hotel in a surface parking area. Upon check-in you can arrange for a parking card for the duration of your stay.
This hotel is not far from the war memorial if you intend to visit.
Cheers + Enjoy

Return visitor. Enjoy the decor. Room very comfortable, quiet & clean. Staff very friendly & helpful. Standard Canberra in that everything is top dollar. Having to pay for guest parking is a turn off. That said: would stay here again.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mercure in the heritage building, wasn't expecting the size of both rooms. The close proximity to the city centre, the added name displayed on the t.v. when switched on allowed my daughter and I to feel at home whilst being away from home. We will definitely be staying at the Mercure when next in Canberra.

We stayed at the Mercure Canberra in February 2018 when visiting family who were having a function that was being held in the hotel. Our room was a king sized room facing onto the central courtyard and was very good. Breakfast was of a good standard at the hotel (buffet style ) and rooms were cleaned daily and early in the day which to my mind is always appreciated.
Staff in general were always helpful and pleasant.
The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the Canberra Center shopping center.
I have only neglected to give a five star rating due to lack of a swimming pool.
I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.
A. L.
Our experience was very enjoyable - the welcome, the room, the breakfast, the location all met our expectations.
My one concern was that when I checked out my bill had three different rates on for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Just curious about that.
Our bathroom did not have any ventilation which meant the steam fogged up the mirror and the floor was slippery.
Our TV remote was faulty - didn't work very well at all - didn't follow up with the concierge because it was only on the last night that we used the TV.
Our coffee powder was not refreshed when the room was serviced so we had to get more from the desk.
P. D.
Clean and tidy rooms with a nice breakfast.
There is a sports bar attached that serves decent beer and has a happy hour from 5-6pm. Easy walking distance to town and local pubs and restaurants. Happy to stay here for work purposes but wouldn’t want to stay for a holiday!
N. C.
Older hotel, but as a result my room was quite large and the bed was very comfortable. Restaurant is excellent and staff very friendly. Bathroom and room were very clean also. Will likely stay here again the next time I'm in Canberra.

I took my son for an over night trip to visit his grand mother in a nursing home and to take him to questacon. The staff were very friendly on check in and even remembered the next morning that we were headed to questacon. The room was a decent size... not too small and the buffet breakfast was good value given that children eat free. I am taking my other son to do the same in a months time and am looking forward to another great experience!

Excellent location, extremely close to the civic centre and the War memorial. Very old motel but that didn't show in features, the halls proudly show it being built as one of the first establishments in this area. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever had in a motel. The room was a king executive, it had a loft bedroom over the loungeroom, it wasn't amazing for our toddler but it was quite romantic, we'll probably return for a no children retreat in the future. Expensive but for its location and comfort it felt justified.
R. V.
Beautiful, charming Hotel. Very professional, friendly Staff. Lovely, clean comfortable room with great air-con. Hotel is easy access to War Memorial. Foodwise... recommend new chefs in Breakfast kitchen. Food was cold, tasteless. Bacon was old and hard, nearly broke my tooth. Both mornings only saw the remnants of the hash browns.Had to ask the waitress to empty the grains from coffee machine and find cereal plates from kitchen. We would love to return but, will eat out.

We stayed from June 11th to 14th - mainly coming over to see the Crusaders beat the Brumbies at GIO Stadium. We always go to art galleries, museums and libraries in any city we visit. By its design of course - if you need to see anything in Canberra you need transport. We're used to walking everywhere and although there was time involved we found our way to most places. The malls and war museum were close to the hotel. We found our room very comfortable and warm. The buffet breakfast was good value for money and good quality. The shower was good although I did see some mould on the ceiling. Service folk at the hotel were welcoming and keen to help. We needed to know the bus to catch for GIO stadium and they kindly found and printed timetables and bus stops. All in all we would recommend the hotel to our friends. We've never stayed in a restored heritage building and found that it hadn't lost its old world charm. Read the book on the history of the original hotel - you'll find it by the bedside cabinet. Thanks for the stay.
C. R.
Loft garden view room - room starting to show age. Too far to walk to city center in hot summer. Parking good and secure. Breakfast very good, room service good but expensive. Main bed and sofa bed both need new mattresses. Gardens fantastic. No pool.

Great Staff & Great Food - Well done
I. K.
Room and bed were comfortable and breakfast was very good. You may, however, consider having a dedicated toaster for the gluten-free bread that you have available. We particularly like the fact that your hotel welcomes well-behaved pets.

Finally did it...slept hmm hmm in another Canberra landmark.
L. D.
This hotel is located within a 1min drive to the War Memorial. Rooms are large and clean. Hotel is a slightly dated however, I think this is due to the hotel just being a older style hotel. Buffet breakfast, has a few different options, well priced for the offerings. Parking onsite easy to find a carpark.
We had a lovely staff member check us in called “Davidson”, who was extremely friendly, helpful and funny.
S. K.
This was a beautiful hotel with a great piece of history. The bed was very comfortable, but the bathroom was peculiar. The breakfast in the restaurant was worthwhile, and I enjoyed it. However, I certainly didn't enjoy lugging my heavy luggage up those stairs in the original building!
Oddly, the floor of our room was uneven on one side of the room, but this wasn't a real problem. You get that with these beautiful old buildings.
Worth the stay.
G. M.
Great historical hotel.
The food is some of the best pub grub.
The Chicken Snitzel is outstanding.
Reasonably priced and good.
Reasonably close to the Australian War Memorial.
Reasonably close to the city centre.
Street parking available.
They have a parking lot.
C. M.
Staff at Olims could not have been more accommodating. They provided a microwave for our bottle sterilising and cot was already set up when we arrived. Also easy check in and check out. Overall a very enjoyable and good value three night stay. We'll come again.

Home away from home for the last 4 nights. Comfy, cosy, friendly helpful staff, and amazing seafood risotto. Thank you. Will certainly be back.
J. C.
While not a modern hotel it is picturesque and a pleasant enough stay. The staff are excellent and prices are reasonable.

We have stayed at Mercure before it has become our family meeting place in Canberra. We celebrated my 60th Birthday last year & this trip was to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday on both occasions the staff, both front of house & in the restaurant made us feel very welcome. We booked the restaurant, food & service was wonderful. One morning our large family booking for breakfast was mishandled. However the staff apologetically managed to accommodate us. Thankyou
I. H. (.
Informal but efficient and friendly. Rooms can vary between the ones in the extension at the back (the majority) and a few more individual ones in the main house (which I think were getting refurbished when I was last there). Breakfast is average. ..not the greatest choice but enough. Good location though as only a 10 min walk down to the centre and always enough car parking at the hotel too.

As I was travelling with my 84 year old(very slow, very arthritic) Mother, I was extremely aware of the improvements that need to be made for differently abled people. A ramp at the entrance would be appreciated. As there were no ramps through the garden courtyard we had to walk the very long way around (we were in the back, Rm 308) plus use the ancient lift to get to Reception & the restaurants. This necessitated passing the world's worst fish tank....either clean & update this atrocity or free the fish & make it a giant planter!!!
All Staff were lovely & extremely helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast service, though the automatic coffee machine is a real disappointment. I bought a coffee from the vendor in the foyer on my second morning, such an improvement! We enjoyed a meal at the Bistro, a good varied menu.We also appreciated the newspapers on offer.
L. E. S.
Service was still getting there, understaffed, new staff did not know how to correctly direct us to our room. the room had view to a rosty tin ceiling. The food in the restaurant bar lacked taste, old flavor in food which gave me the impression of microwave warmed up food. Also did not feel happy with the idea of being an Accord member and not getting that extra bit of special service. I am not happy and won't be looking forward to stay here again or recomend this hotel.
S.
Charm ,friendly staff and accommodating, like the fishtanks.
L. K.
The hotel facilities and staff were very good. As it was not a planned stay we didnt have thr necessary toiletries and a charger for the phone. The staff are courteous enough to accommodate that. Only thing to note is that the bathroom is very small. As they compensate with their service I would still give a 5 star rating.
P. E.
We had wine and strawberries on arrival in our room. Spacious room, clean and a balcony. Lovely gardens. Easy access and plenty of parking. Choice of 2 places to eat.
Air con was a bit noisy. Slightly disappointed with meals we chose. No Foxtel in rooms.
A. M.
Stayed for a conference at the convention centre, walking to and from each day. My room was ready extra early conveniently and the staff were friendly, helpful and well organised. Also worth noting the building is absolutely lovely and the pillows very comfortable.
B. C.
Lovely hotel dating to the 1920s. It feels as though it's in a quiet suburb, but it's quite near the center of town -- that's Canberra, I suppose. Rooms are spacious and clean, if occasionally hard to find in the historic layout. Breakfast is good, though the WiFi is rather slow.
T. M.
Stayed overnight with my son and found the old Ainslie to be as reliable and honest as always. The price was excellent value for the money. It's within walking distance of the war memorial. We were upgraded to a loft room, with a balcony that overlooked the gorgeous central courtyard.
D. O.
Sounds like the heritage rooms are dodgy...but I had a nice one at the back overlooking the car park, large, quiet and with a balcony (also very convenient to my car). Room was nice and service was fine. The location's a bit remote but only 15 minutes walk to the mall. They cash in on the remoteness by charging a lot for food but I didn't have any. I got a super special rate so I'm biased but even at normal prices it's worth considering, given the low standards in Canberra.
S. A.
The service at front desk was exceptionally welcoming and pleasant. Unfortunately the room furniture was a significant let down as well as cheap coffee in the room. The parking area was confusing to get into and it wasn't explained at check in. Neither was anything told about wifi, until asked about it later.
B. R.
This is a really good place to stay in Canberra. Clean comfortable rooms. Great bar and restaurant with great meals.
T. M.
I received a very friendly welcome and was upgraded to an Executive room on check at the Canberra Mercure. Liked the fact that there was a true bar on site offering the amenities I like eg. Very, very good value. Happy to recommend this hotel, we will stay here again when returning to Canberra.
B. D.
Parking very poor especially for older clientele. Instructions on use of door key not given. Additional pillows had to be asked for. No face washers!!!
T. H.
Much older than other hotels I've stayed at in Canberra but comfy beds and has everything you need. Word of warning, 2 people in our party saw ghosts here at night!
Good value for money. Use on street parking if you don't to pay $10 per night for hotel car park.
K. P.
I was very disappointed to see the whole hotel was so "tired" and badly in need of a makeover.
The sitting rooms, the furniture isn't arranged in an inviting manner. The piano pushed up against the wall with chairs pushed (stored) in front of it.
The carpets are past their use by date and looked in a real need of a thorough vacuum and clean.
None of the "common" areas looked organised or inviting.
I couldn't believe it has a 4 star rating.
In our room one of the cushions on the sofa bed was missing and it wasn't hard to find dust.
N.
Original too small, then upgraded to the King loft.
The hotel needs to be more user friendly with suitcases and luggage. So many turns and stairs to get to my room.
Would prefer undercover car parking especially being Winter.
A. T.
I've stayed here many times (30+) and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and surrounds. Food at adjoining Bar needs to be improved otherwise everything else is excellent. People who like the 'old world charm' will enjoy this Hotel
A. L.
Enjoyed the stay. Will def be back.
R. P.
Our experience was really good, specially at our arrival to our room.
A lady named Rosa made sure we were really well welcomed with a personal letter, chocolates, and games for my grandchildren.
The kids enjoyed very much that beautiful touch.
Ž. S.
I had a good time staying at Mercure Canberra. The room was nice, and the bathroom looked like it was updated recently. I liked the courtyard in the middle, and having breakfast overlooking that was great. The hotel is located close to Canberra Centre, and just below Mt Ainslie, which offers a great walking trail to the top with lots of wildlife sightings on the way.
M. “. M.
The Mercure is a nice place to stay easy to get to nice location to Civic Canberra reception staff were great. The room was moden and quite comfortable... The public areas need some love but all good.. Food was good at restaurant but staff might need to leave personal relationship between each other at home...
P. C.
Mercure Canberra was a very pleasant surprise. The room was very comfortable, the split level worked well and the warm fires added much to the feeling of a home away from home. But the meal was the my most enduring memory. The Entree of prawn fritter and the main of herb encrusted lamb would be listed as my preferred last meal but it was you wait staff that really took the cake. Thank you for an amazing 24 hours.
K. J.
The Mercure Canberra has really maintained the great old Canberran feel of the original Olim's but has really upped the food quality. Function rooms are spacious and well-equipped. Recommended for stays, casual drinks and functions alike.
T. R.
Rooms are comfortable and clean, customer service was very good. The location is old but has been renovated and has the old school feel to it. Reasonably priced.
G. J.
Stopped in at the Mercure Canberra on our way to East Gippsland over the recent Christmas break. We were traveling with our dog, and booked the pet friendly room about a month in advance. The room was very spacious, clean, and also had a private backyard. My wife & I were very happy. London Circuit is only about a minutes drive away, so plenty to choose from for dinner. The price of the pet room was in the $219ish range, but included breakfast for two. I have stayed in other places in Canberra (for business) that charged $40 per person for the same breakfast. Overall, I would highly recommend Mercure Canberra, especially if you are traveling with a pet. Well worth it.
A. W.
Had a beautiful comfy stay yet again. 3yrs running. Feel very safe there, staff are lovely, rooms are great. Definitely will be back agai.
D. G.
Good sized room nice overlooking courtyard garden. King bed was comfy and with courtyard view..nice to sit in sun with a drink.
C. W.
The food at the pub is 4/10, get uber eats. Hotel is decent and clean. Super old school but quirky. It's like living out The Shining. You will get lost in it's hallways guaranteed.
L. M.
No coment. Has good lemon squash.
M. M.
Loved the Beer and Cider festival. What great staff and beautiful beer gardens. Definitely great outdoor spaces and options. Didn't think there was so much space when looking at the complex from outside. Decor and rooms are very stylish
J. M.
This is an old establishment, and is looking tired. I was not a guest so can only speak for the public areas. It needs a face lift....new carpet, paint and good clean
G. J.
Very comfortable bed.Clean room.Lovely gardens..made for a great outlook.Bistro great food.Friendly staff.Close to city.
J. M.
Rooms were big and spacious and the bed comfy. The place is a bit of a maze but pretty. Didn't like that the tv couldn't be plugged into with a laptop, it was locked put so you could only watch tv and their pay movies, plus internet was expensive, then 2 drinks at the bar and a pack of chips came to $18, service was pretty average. Would prob try somewhere else next time.
D. C.
We've stayed with the family in Canberra before but this time with Mercure, the staff have over delivered with their friendly attitude and helpful service.
They helped out with local knowledge as well as room service accommodations for the family.
Big thanks
T. M.
I selected the Mercure Hotel because of the location, easy access to the centre of the city for my business meetings and easy walk to te War Memorial. We walked the 15 minutes to the shopping plaza in central Canberra. The room had suitable facilities and was of a good size for our needs. I enjoyed the Mercure very much.
N. H.
Nice rooms, which are very big however no HDMI access. The courtyard is a lovely touch and this place suits familes and maybe nire mature aged citizens. 800m away fron the Australian war memorial too!
n.
Older motel-style hotel. Interesting history. Staff were helpful, there is plenty of parking @ $10/night. Good location near the war memorial and Civic. Good value pub meals available.
B. R.
Reasonable Hotel, with a nice variety of nearby and in-house options for food and dining. Rooms vary from average for the small single night rooms, up to moderately spacious rooms with a loft bed and kitchenette.
Facilities are well kept and rooms are kept immaculate and pleasant.
O. R.
Lovely room just out of the city noise but 10 min walk and your in the middle of civic, above ground secure parking altho was not informed on parking fees till checkout. Comfy bed nice amenities friendly staff.
J. S.
Stayed overnight with family. Small and cosy place .Rooms were better than I expected them to be so that was a plus point. It was pretty clean. Few minutes drive can take tou to good restaurants and supermarkets too.
T. M.
Having stayed at ***y different hotel in Canberra over the years, we decided to try the Mercure simply because it's an original hotel from Canberras beginnings. The room was more then adequate and the hotel is walking distance to the War Memorial and the city centre. A good balcony overlooked the courtyard. Great value for money.
E. M.
The mecure is a little dated in it's interior design and maybe some work could be done on furniture etc. But the building and court yard are great as well as dog friendly rooms that you can stay in. (Rare for Canberra) It did the trick and was sleep able!
F. W.
Central to our needs. Our small dog "Whisper" was so at home with his own play yard. Very relaxed atmosphere. The staff friendly and helpful. Hope for a room for our next visit. Thanks to all.
T. M.
Hotel was conveniently located to the Australian War Memorial and to the main city area, the Hop on. The public rooms are unchanged art deco style and this adds to the charm of the hotel. The front of house ***ager refunded this but did say to us that the evening boys were wrong and breakfast was not included.
B. H.
Old, dated building, but with a quaint nostalgic feel. Check on was very slow even though there was no one infront of us. Nice enough place to stay though.
A. S.
Although the stay was brilliant, with the great friendly staff where nothing was too much of a problem, the only issue was in the dinning room with the tables near the coffee machine. When anybody walk past the table would bounce as thou the floor boards had no support under them, really frustrating whilst trying to eat.
A. P.
We use to stay here a bit but the last two stays I feel like the air conditioning unit made me sick so probably wont be staying again unless they are updated. Staff are great, decent breakfast, good value.
S. C.
Great spot. Large quiet rooms. Great facilities and helpful staff. Definitely worth a stay. Beautiful Courtyard. Here for Valentine's Day.
M. S.
Great service, pub has good food, rooms a bit dates but clean.
C. S.
I have stayed here before, but for some reason this stay was different. The staff were superb and my loft room was absolutely beautiful. Dinner in the bar was great - lots to choose from and very reasonable. I will definitely stay here again.
J. G.
Visiting the nation's capital it's close to everything great base to set out your day.
There's so much to see , the history of the hotel is a great place to start then walking distance (slightly up hill ,about 30mim) to the war memorial , other places close , shopping restaurants. Plan a trip , i am !!
K. B.
Reception staff very friendly and welcoming, 10 minute walk to Canberra center. Sprawling, heritage hotel, rooms are reasonably modern and clean, range of room service meals excellent. Excellent value for money
T. W.
Beautiful heritage hotel with a great bar and lounge area. Food is a little expensive for pub grub, but at least there is a nice beer garden to eat it in and a good range of tap beers to help you forget how much you paid lunch/dinner.
S. B.
Loved the spacious courtyard..staff were always very helpful. Rooms were comfortable with a private balcony..
C. S.
Nice place to stay but the all you can eat seafood buffet was pathetic. The second sitting had little food choice and what was available was cold. The promise of alternate food to seafood was limited to a cold hot lamb dish with cold cooked veggies and a few scraps of cold meat. Not worth the $75 each
T. K.
This is our 10th time stay with Mercure Canberra and they have never disappointed us. Great location. Value for money. Wonderful and friendly staff. Highly recommend. Thank you.
J. M.
Check in was unnecessarily long despite having checked in online. Offered a room upgrade which I thought was free of charge given the booking mix up and lengthy delay, however was charged an upgrade fee. Not enough staff on at conciege meaning we missed the Floriade bus waiting several minutes to ask for directions. A bad sewage odour in various areas of the hotel including downstairs in our apartment. Checked out several days ago yet have not received an online bill so I have no idea what extra charges are.
K. W.
Nice clean heating needs to be fixed in room and resturant to higher setting. Both now have a head cold.
Staff need to know what rooms have a bath. Reqested on confirmed on check in couldnt tell me. She didnt follow it up
A. P.
Unfussy casual accommodation in heritage surrounds a short walk from the War Memorial. The attached bar and bistro is very reminiscent of a suburban RSL. Comfortable rooms and good rates.
P.
Very good location and decent sized room if a bit dated. Very accommodating staff. Gym is tiny so don't bother - go for a run around the lake.
J. R.
Only had dinner there. There was no sugar or water in the coffee machine so we asked one of the women staff and it took her ages to get the sugar and water so we asked her again for sugar and she got mad at us and was very rude. We then asked one of the male staff and he got all the stuff straight away
T. F.
Amazing old building....nice to stay there as it still has some character unlike a lot of hotels these days. Staff were very helpful
G. C.
An older hotel but with a charming hidden courtyard. The restaurant was excellent and all the hotel staff couldn't do more to make our stay enjoyable. Thoroughly recommended!
A. E.
Great service from the Mercure staff when we had a technical issue with our vehicle parked onsite. Thank you to the staff involved, very professional and great customer service. Special thanks to Lukas Wilfing for his very prompt assistance.
A. S.
Great for a 3 star motel, rubbish for a supposed 4 star hotel. Heritage hotels require a bit of attention not apparent here; gross tiles, broken carpark gates and other minor mishaps show just general low level of regard for premises.
L. B.
Stayed here for our wedding anniversary and visited Floriade. Room a little dated but bed extremely comfortable. Food at restaurant delicious.
T. C. (.
Yeah it was ok. Just your standard room. Restaurant and bar good. $$$ for room service though. Walking distance to main shopping and food area. Some reason felt like it was built from an old mental hospital though....
L. I.
I must say I was impressed with the service and cleanliness of the place. Bed and cushions were comfortable and was not expecting to be upgraded at no extra charge. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly.
J. M.
I am a Veteran with an assistance dog called "Kamali" and I have to stay in locations all over Australia while volunteering with Young Diggers Limited and I can honestly say that the Mecure Canberra is by far the most accommodating hotel in this country! every staff member was 10 out of 10 on all levels. Well Done and Thank You from us both.
Just one thing my name is John Mark not Don Mark lol :)
R. J.
Wonderful service. Made our stay extra special for our 40th wedding anniversary. King bed very comfortable. Liked the courtyard. Very pretty.
W. K.
Really enjoyed the stay. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good. Only issue was the twin beds were not wide enough for our rather ample bodies.
J. K.
Faulty Towers show.....such fun....meal ho hum
L. W.
Charming hotel in Canberra. This hotel is very close to the city and all the highlights of Canberra. The rooms are comfy, the staff efficient and friendly and the pub attached give you everything you need. Great experience.
A. B.
Very clean and nice room, great dinner and breakfast, only down side was having to pay for parking
R. M.
Hotel is good, but the bar and bistro is very average, I would not recommend the food and service is not very good.
R. M.
Absolutely perfect booking system, the check in was a breeze, and we were welcome with our dog, he has his own court yard and balcony, which makes life easy for mum and dad
C. C.
All the Staff from the Cleaners to the Reception are all very friendly & make you feel quite comfortable. They go out of their way to make you feel Special & are always happy to help with anything you may need at any time.
C. C.
My family loved visiting the Mercure Canberra. Bed was a bit hard, so I didn't sleep that well, but otherwise was a good place to stay. We'll consider it again for our next visit.
H. G.
King size bed was amazing! Best Sleep! Lovely enclosed courtyard off the room. Great brekky choices with so much food arriving on time at the room YUMMY!
M. P.
Had a great room with loft for 3 children and 1 adult. Breakfast was perfect and front desk most helpful. Lovely 1930s hotel. Authentic.
T. N.
Friendly reception and a very comfy bed for the night. Had a great meal at the bar on site. Short walk to the Westfield shopping and town centre. Have stayed before and will again
C. C.
A bit run down but the food is amazing. Great Xmas party was had in the Carlton room.
L. A.
Queen room was compact but OK. Bistro meals are great. Excellent chefs. Reception staff are extremely helpful. Recommend this hotel.
A. W.
Great all round. Thanks for the upgrade. Pity restaurant is closed Sun& Mon.
I suggest treads on all narrow stairs in rooms with a loft. They're rather slippery.
J. M.
A hotel that understands maintain history without compromising on quality. The mattress was excellent and staff friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the stay very much and will definitely visit again in the future.
L. B.
Hosted an event at Mercure Hotel Canberra. Couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Staff were great, very friendly. Great function room with good facilities.
D. W.
The Mercure has excellent customer service with very friendly reception staff. The rooms are a little dated, but the building itself, a 1928 Federation special, is lovely.
J. M.
It's an old Hotel, but clean and comfortable, with everything you need, the staff are very friendly and helpful, it's walking distance to cbd and the war Museum, great breakfast and main meal in restaurant, I'd go back again.
S. M.
Rooms were spacious enough for family of three. Quiet location, close to shops and cafes and local attractions. Staff were friendly. Had a good experience overall.
P. K.
Dog friendly rooms 😀. I only stopped in for Devonshire tea (which was nice), but heard they have dog-friendly rooms available at the hotel. What a great idea! Thanks Mercure.
J. L.
Indoor deco is so dated ...but garden is well looked after service is ok
P. N.
Great value for money. Amenities were a little on the lighter side. TV options were limited too but the rooms themselves were good and were better than expected for what we paid.
G. S.
Big rooms, friendly staff and a bonus was that we were offered mtb storage onthe premises. Beautiful old buildings and great historical photography all around the hallway
S. C.
This hotel is an important part of Australian history where politicians stayed when the capital was being built. Maybe some Prime Ministers stayed in the bedroom with the central balcony. It's in a very original state but under appreciated.
S. W.
Room was nice and clean. Good customer service. Although a little confusing in the layout of the hotel. Otherwise it was lovely and I would stay here again.
L. M.
Lovely heritage hotel which feels like a home away from home. Staff and are fantastic. I have stayed here many times and it just keeps getting better.
J. B.
Excellent choice of place to stay in Canberra. Old Majestic building with superb courtyard, but now fitted with modern amenities. Would stay again.
I. W.
From the first encounter at Reception, great curtesy & assistance provided.
Excellent facilities at economical price.
Bistro meal very good.
Breakfast just what was needed.
D. H.
Historical venue of early Canberra, very close to war memorial and contemporary fine dining. Minutes walk to cbd shopping precinct. Hospitable friendly well trained staff.
J. B.
Awesome loft appartments on the new side dont choosr the heritage side there is no lift so try to get first floor but good views as u go up levels awesome buffet breakfast my son love the automatic pancake maker very homely lobby and bar and bistro on site had a good atmosphere
J. H.
Had an alright stay here, room was quite dated though & didn't have access to a lift but staff member carried up my suitcase upon request. Having to pay to park at the hotel is quite tasteless though
R. M.
A nice older style hotel with some very friendly and efficient staff. A big thumbs up to the waitress on Friday night who took great care of us.
N. W.
Haven't stayed at the Mercure Canberra for a few years but felt that the level of care and service had significantly improved. Staff very attentive and engaging.
S. M.
Heritage and old nice but older furniture if you like heritage
L. S.
1930s style in public areas with comfortable fabric and leather, knick-knacks and oil paintings. If you are lucky cadge one of the fireplaces on a chilly wet day. During the summer the beergarden can be boisterous, packed with local footballers and defence types. No free Wi-Fi.
A. I.
The hotel facilities are well maintained in line with the original building's purpose. Nice meals in the bistro. Lots of parking, quiet location, guests seem happy.
B. N.
A very relaxed place, not like the usual mercure hotels. Close to the war memorial. Good food, service, and rooms.
M. B. T. a. W.
Convenient location to Cancerra city. The hotel is dog friendly which was a welcome surprise to this animal lover. Recently refurbished and worth a visit.
M. H. (.
Bit outdated but clean, comfortable and spacious.
Bistro food was the highlight of our stay! Amazing & very generous servings, thanks guys!
F. J.
The hotel is a bit creepy outside but the inside of the room is modern and quiet. The service is good but it’s a bit far from the city centre of Canberra.
J. M. (.
Our one night stay was excellent, had dinner in the restaurant, really interesting menu! Also a great place if you need to travel with your canine companion.
S. G.
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and every stay has been extremely satisfying. The staff from check in to breakfast have always been concerned with the customer's comfort.
O. W.
It's an old building with no lifts but it has its charms, love the vintage decor. Upgraded to the bigger room, my son and I loved our overnight stay.
R. W.
Dated hotel in common areas but the rooms were very nice. Modern facilities with the classic theme.
l. n.
Nice rooms.close to all shops,cafes and restaurants.friendly staff 🙂
L. M.
Anzac Day 2021, terrific place, good atmosphere, food and bar, well worth a visit.
K. M.
Staying for 2 nights for work. Checked in around 10pm. Nothing nearby got food so had to order room service. Pretty pricey but typical for hotels i guess. Apart from that, friendly staff and clean room.
P. L. (. L.
So far so good. Only problems I had were trouble regulating the water temperature in the shower. Public transportation is easily accessible nearby, but it's only buses though.
S. B.
Lovely Old Building, thin walls, very basic rooms, breakfast ok. You get what you pay for. Not expensive. A walk to Civic shopping centre.
M. M.
Nice hotel with very friendly staffs. Food at the bar is very tasty with a good price. Hotel room is very clean.
g. m.
I only stayed one night, and I found the staff to be very efficent, but my special thanks goes to Rosa the events organizer at the Mercure canberra, everything went extremally well.
B. N.
Needed unexpected accomodation with special requirements for disabled. Staff supplied everything required with 15 min of being advised over phone and was in place upon our arrival
A.
This is the only place we will stay when in Canberra. The location is handy. Rooms are always clean & staff are very friendly.
L. H.
The reception desk and staff are exceptional! They are considerate, helpful, warm and welcoming. Lovely maintained grounds and clean rooms.
N. N.
Lovely welcoming desk staff and comfortable room, fabulous having the bistro in the same building for a quick family dinner. Breakfast was fabulous.
A. G.
Good old property. Friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable. Close to all the major attractions of Canberra.
H. S. |. 1.
Only place to stay in Canberra, rooms are beautiful, comfortable and warm. Dog friendly and the meals are superb.
B. R.
Dawson was amazing! What a delightful, pleasant man. He made our stay so much more enjoyable and the room was beautiful.
L. M.
Impeccable service . Room was 7 star . Was luxury for a Mercure branded hotel . Gardens were beautiful . Felt like I was staying at the ritz or luxury collection
M. K.
Quirky historical hotel with lots of charm and lovely courtyard. Dinner food was sensational - way better than expected of a hotel restaurant - definitely worth going there just for dinner.
A. C.
We were welcomed by the lovely bubbly Karen. The accommodation was great. The staff were even greater and greater than that was the food in the dining room.
N. M. E.
We had a lovely time at the Mercure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will stay at the Mercure for our next visit to Canberra. Thankyou staff.
T. W.
Beautiful rooms in an older style hotel ( remember Olims?) with great original features maintained. Great prices so close to Civic Centre.
P. N.
Very helpful desk staff, nice decor and good food in the bistro.
Will stay there again
C. D.
Good place. Clean and tidy. Location isn't great in terms of the surrounding area but overall a nice place to stay for a short trip of 4 days.
L. P.
Spacious comfortable rooms. Pleasant outlook. Quiet. Good facilities and services. Helpful friendly staff. Convenient location.
T.
Absolutely wonderful check in, beautiful room and very comfy. Room service was quick and meal was very tasty

I. D.
We enjoyed our accommodation and breakfast. Large room warm! pleasant surroundings.
B. D.
Nice place to stay. Helpful staff. Comftable room

Was given another room.
Close to what I needed.

Awesome food and great service

Lovely place to stay. Has a rich history and in a great location. Would recommend. Clean, friendly.
K. D.
Good place to stay when I am visiting for work. Friendly staff, but not keen on the big marshmellow pillows.
M. C.
Every time I travel to Canberra I stay at the Mecure. I have been doing this for years and due to the friendliness of the staff, the ease of location and the quality of the accommodation, I will continue to stay at the Mecure.
K. e. K.
Good clean standard hotel , very noisy fountain pump facing the courtyard rooms . This pump should be off during night time .
K. B.
Location great.
No traffic noise and close to the war memorial.
Rooms clean and the breakfast was delicious.
J. D.
Nice spacious rooms but a little noisy. A few service and housekeeping issues. Good value overall though.
D. M.
Not to bad, room was 8/10 clean and staff on front desk weren't the friendliest but overall good location
D. J.
We stayed in a dog friendly room for a night while our new home was getting ready. The staff were very friendly and our four legged friend was made to feel very welcome.
A. H.
The overall experience was very pleasant. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
S. B.
Staff were extremely accomodating on our arrival and departure.Unfortunately your booking rate was far more expensive than most online booking sites. Our welcome letter was addressed to someone else and our bins had no liners.I did a pet stay and it wasn't really clear where we were to dispose our our pet waste so we assumed it was the bin left outside but it had no lining. When I also booked I requested two singles as I was staying with my daughter,
we ended up sharing a king bed.
E. M.
A Heritage listed hotel. So looks shabby in main areas. Very noisy. Beds are old and saggy. But the rooms are clean and everything functions
J. C.
Excellent rooms and excellent service. Breakfast is always good. Always look forward to coming back each year
J. G.
Renovated functional place with attentive staff. Very pleasant central gardens.
t. s.
Expected better for 4 stars
L. B.
The staff were friendly & helpful. Room was nice & " clean.
Toilet lid was broken.
D. D.
It was a Great hotel because it was dog friendly. We has her own private little backyard.
G. S.
Nice and comfortable stay but parking should be free for guests and breakfast should be included for the price we paid per night.
T. G.
Room was comfortable and relaxing. The seafood buffet for $75 was worth every cent. Staff always friendly and helpful

While the atmosphere was ok there was too many drunks that were being served. They were ok but responsible service of alcohol didn't look look like it was being followed.

An historic hotel well located for visiting the War Memorial. A good choice of food, either the restaurant or in the bar. Convenient parking.

Enjoyed the friendliness of staff, the decor and the proximity of the hotel, however, it could have been improved if someone had swept the courtyard.
J. G.
I have stayed several times and always enjoy this hotel, good breakfast and the attached pub does large affordable meals.

Parking should be complimentary, we asked housekeeping for extra 5 mins after 11am as my son was not well and we were a bit behind and reception immediately phoned and told us our checkout was 11am.
