Really enjoyed both our stays here. The room was spacious and comfortable with lovely amenities. The breakfast that is included was absolutely delicious. Will definitely stay here again on future visits to Hobart!

Stayed 4 nights at the Orient and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great and the dining room was beautiful. Bed was comfortable too. Location was perfect for us with the wharf just a 5 minute stroll away and the shopping district just out the door. We'll be back for sure as there is much more to do in Hobart.

During a return holiday to Tassie I took my two teenagers to the Hadley's Orient Hotel for a high tea. Well, what a beautiful place and the high tea was fabulous. They also catered well for additional dietary needs with good gluten free options. Highly recommend this as part of your holiday or explorations while in Hobart.

From the moment we checked in to the last day of our 8 day stay we were pampered and spoilt. The staff were always happy to see us and nothing was to much trouble. The afternoon tea is an out of this world experience.
House keeping kept our room spotless and fresh towels as well as always topping up the coffee and tea makings
I could go on and on about Hadley's but do as we did and experience it for yourselves.

Stellar service from a committed team in a grand old heritage listed building. This is our second visit to Hadley's (last one was well before COVID-19) and the level of service hasn't dropped.
Continental breakfast is great with a wide range to choose from, and the spa suite is beautiful.
Great value and highly recommended.

The customer service at Hadley's Orient Hotel was outstanding. Reception staff were first class, checked us in smoothly, let us know that the kitchen was about to close if we needed food beforehand and genuinely cared for our experience in Hobart. I have never received better service from a hotel before...
G. D.
Great place to stay close to everything plenty of old world charm and history all wrapped up in sandstone building nicely furnished rooms and a comfy bed have a beer in the bar before proceeding to the formal dining room for a fine meal at a reasonable price Tassie wine by the glass and a huge selection of local whiskey and gin if that's your thing I'd stay again

Back for another stay at the lovely Hadley's. Just something about it feels like home and we keep coming back. Comfortable and homely. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and well appointed with comfortable beds.
N. t.
The rooms, the hallway, beds all of them are slanting at an angle. This did cause some stress. The free breakfast is hardly anything. Giving 3 starts just for the great service.
H. M.
Great old building. Lovely staff. Good location. Only 10 mins from waterfront. Continental breakfast was good.
M.
The hotel is classy and classic. Well appointed large rooms . The hotel has charm and ambience. The rooms are large and well appointed . The service is good and the meals are of good quality.
One critisism however is that they were unable to provide a hot coffee from their self serve coffee maker where they served breakfast. They were however able to provide with a barista made coffee at no addittional cost when i complained. My point is that they knew there was a problem with their coffee machine and i should not have needed to complain.

Would recommend this Hotel to literally anyone. Staff, ambiance, history, meals, bar, room, all excellent and all in the very heart of Hobart’s CBD. We were sad we had to go… and now the rest of our holiday is ruined because we regret leaving and no-where else compares…
L. K.
Had a lovely stay midweek in January. Breakfast was great. Very close to everything in the city and the harbour
T. D.

K. N.
It was raining and they let me get a pot of tea before the bar opened so I could sit and wait out the rain. Literally the best customer service, I will be getting a room here next time I’m in Hobart.
K. H.
Continental breakfast was lovely but bed was terrible and had a bad dip. Also not very traveller friendly as you come out of the lift to two sets of stairs and have to carry bags up.
S.
Very well priced for such a classy, classic hotel. Staff were all brilliant, especially Lucie, thank you again. Fantastic location and beds were super comfy. Will be staying here again.
P. B.
A private function High Tea was hosted here. Beautiful hotel and ambience. Let down by lack of continuous table service for keeping the drinks flowing but the High Tea was delicious and allergies were catered for
A. S.
Beautiful historic building with English charm in the heart of Hobart. Friendly staff with genuine smile. Clean nice comfortable room. Cooked breakfast was delicious.
J. H.
Not one single negative about Hadley's.. at reception we were greeted like old friends, at dinner every taste was catered for and when we had to leave dinner for a show it was delivered to our room for midnight feast. All staff were engaged and wonderfully friendly.. truly made me want to get back there at my earliest.. thank you Hadley's.
K. B.
A beautiful place to stay. Had old world charm without being tacky and staff were really lovely and accommodating.
s. s.
Absolutely a wonderful experience staff were very nice, genuine and professional , very attentive to our needs and supportive of the people I was with, the rooms , the restaurant and the bar have such an inviting feeling ,Thank you for an amazing night 😀
A. A.
Excellent service from all staff. Had a very enjoyable time staying here. Will definately come again next time in Hobart.
M. W.
Love the old world and historical charm embued by Hadley’s. Hospitality and service was exceptional with friendly and attentive staff. Worth a visit or stay.
L. J.
I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel for 3 nights with 9 other colleagues. The staff are amazing, the old world charm was incredible! The rooms were spotless and it is within walking distance to everything we wanted to do! The bar is cozy and relaxing,. I was in a twin share, with 2 single beds, which were amazingly warm, cosy and very comfortable! If you have a love of history, as I do, you will also love the ambiance!
J. A.
Amazing old world charm and service. Can't rave about this hotel enough. Staff went out of their way to help us with any queries we had about local sights and places to eat. Great bar, lovely breakfast and the room was amazing! Spacious, clean and super comfortable. Absolutely recommend you stay here on your trip to Hobart
G. P.
We loved our stay! Friendly and genuine service from all the staff! We booked 1 night and then loved it, so we stayed 1 more. Quality continental breakfast... would be nice to see some more vegan options or hot food but still tasty and fair considering it's complimentary.
We loved the coffee!
The room was beautiful, hot shower, nice soaps etc.
Comfy as bed!
Amazing location.
Will be back or recommend to others.
A. M.
I think this might be one of my fav hotels... you can feel the history as you walk in the front door, and it continues through the entire hotel. Rooms are good (sensational pillows). The cooked breakfast is definitely worth it (the menu is small but the quality is really great). But what makes this place stand out from I think any hotel I've stayed at is the staff..absolutely EVERYONE working there is professional, warm and truly lovely. From the front desk, the super team in the dining room at breakfast, the team servicing the rooms, they all seems to be truly happy. We will definitely be staying here when we're in Hobart next.
J. L.
Lovely historical feel, friendly staff copy rooms and a good meal.
S. S.
Old Vintage and well maintained.
Thank you Jemelle for servicing our room to perfection and Ben for excellent customer service.
T.
We stayed in Hadley's Orient for a week and LOVED it! Location is a walk to everything (we have a 9 y/o daughter), so that was very important. The Hotel is very old world, loads of charm and character. We enjoyed a drink and nibbles at the bar most evenings. Great atmosphere, the fire was burning and we played chess. Our room was very large and well appointed. Super clean!! The staff were very welcoming and ALWAYS helpful! We booked our tours at the Hotel - very convenient. When we got home, we realised our daughter had left her favourite blanket in the room. We called immediately, housekeeping had already found it and they posted it to us next day! Ben called to give us the tracking number! Highly recommend staying at Hadley's Orient, continental breakfast was included - just perfect! Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely go back! THANKYOU!!!
N. H.
Hadley's was the perfect choice for my wedding, for both venue and reception. The atrium was absolutely incredible as a venue, and the reception that followed in the adjoining rooms made for an unforgettable evening. The meals were absolutely delicious, and all our dietary requirements were catered for. The staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with, and in particular the events manager Cassandra was a God send. I cannot stress enough how easy they made everything, and how much we all enjoyed ourselves.
K. W.
Wow. This place was one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed. What made it was the beautiful staff who all have impeccable customer service. We booked the wrong day and Danika ( the duty manager) went above and beyond to help get us a room and one that we wouldn't have to change rooms the next day. We were traveling with my 7 month old and she just got it and helped us in every way she could.
Jess at the bar was fantastic and even let us have a drink when the bar had closed as we were a little late.
The rooms where extremely clean, the complementary breakfast was great and the finishing little touches of history around the place made this a 5 star place. We will be back.
A. G.
Ambient, soothing quiet. A crystal glass drink. Got to see the blonde pianoman. dont fire the poor.guy now.inever get there much nowdays
D. V. D.
The location is perfectly central with easy walking distances to everything including the wharf and Salamanca markets. The decor is beautiful, the free breakfast really starts the day off well but the true gem of this place is the amazing staff, such a happy accommodating group of people where nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We will be back ❤️
D. W.
This was our third year in a row staying at Hadley's! We love the beautiful building, the first class service and the downtown location! We stay for a few days and just walk to the shops, the restaurants or the waterfront! Definitely recommend. We missed the dinning by piano this last time! :( Hope the pianist is back next year when we come!
W. L.
nice hotel with some old fashioned grandeur but still functional and comfortable inside. room was very spacious. staff were nice and the way they do breakfast (complimentary continental with paid add ons) is really good.
A. H.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Didn’t really rate it. I can appreciate the old feel and the building but my two complaints were the buffet breakfast which made me feeling sick each day. Even when we paid extra for the hot meal it just wasn’t made to standard. You’re better off skipping this and going to a nearby cafe. Bed was excruciatingly uncomfortable, I think the longest I could sleep for without waking and tossing was 45 minutes. I felt the springs in my back.. worst sleep ever. If these things don’t concern you, you’ll have a very pleasant stay.
B. S.
Stayed here a couple weeks ago. Was very comfortable & loved the old world ambiance. Very convenient to everything in town, also close to the Dock area by Salamanca. Lots of places to eat too. Thoroughly enjoyed
g. j.
A touch of class. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. The staff were first class, from the staff on the desk who were gorgeous, and really looked after us to the bar staff who schooled us on the local gin and the breakfast service staff who were unflappable. Thank you Hadley's for a wonderful stay.
W. O.
Beautiful hotel. A step back in time. Absolutely charming
J. W.
I don’t know how anyone could give this place anything less than 5 stars. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Generous and tasty hot breakfast options. A cool cocktail bar open from 4 each day. All situated within a fascinating historical landmark.
Couldn’t think of a better place to stay while visiting Hobart.
W. K.
It was great so quite very clean . Loved the spa and cheese platter . It was very good i well be going back to stay for sure .
K.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, continental breakfast was complimentary and sufficient, there were options for a full breakfast for a fee, Excellent location as we walked everywhere...battery point, Salamanca market, wharf, art galleries, shopping, cafes, restaurants, even the botanical gardens. St David's cathedral is across the street and we were lucky to hear the beautiful bells ringing.
C. B.
Absolutely best place to stay in Hobart. Beautiful, historic and interesting hotel with modern comforts. Excellent service and a free breakfast that is very good. Location can’t be beat, central to everything. Thanks for having me!
w. m. t.
Great selection and choices of the tea in the room. Great storage of the fridge. The room was smaller than i expected. I couldnt even allow one suitcase to open completely. The room was a bit dim even i switched on all the lights at night. It would be great if there was a bin in the room except having one in the bathroom. Wish there was more choices for breakfast. Hot food on xmas day was not perfect. The eggs and hash browns are not hot enough. I hope fresh fruits were provided instead of cut fruits.
D. M.
The staff are friendly & professional, nothing was too much, we locked our keys inside our case, they assisted with a smile, we needed to change our room due to requiring a walk in shower, not a problem. We enjoyed cocktails, dinner, high tea & breakfasts. A delightful stay.
B. M.
great, old world proper hotel. My sort of place in central Hobart
L. N.
Lovely clean room with the best shower pressure ever!! Excellent location. The bar attached to the hotel is excellent, lots of local products, friendly staff.
J.
Had the Dark Mofo 2021 Sparking Dark Afternoon Tea here. OMG... it was divine. The small sandwiches, tarts, scones.. and the massive pot of tea each. Was lush and memorable. Staff friendly but left you to get on with it. Thank you.
t.
Great location, old world charm, front reception staff very friendly and helpful! Hotel queen room perfect for single or a couple! A pleasant stay overall and will stay again! 😊
V. R.
We loved every minute of our Christmas stay here. From the minute we arrived until we left we received 5 star service. Special shout out to Chelsea for her customer service at breakfast and the bar staff (sorry I didn’t get your names) keep doing what you do, u guys are the best
D. N.
Had buffet lunch on Christmas day here and we were impressed of how attentive and friendly the staff was to us. The venue is great and full of lights. Food was good overall and I understand its just hard to cook to meet the requirements of 70 people. Honestly cant say I was satisfied with all of the dishes but it was lovely; we had a quick lovely chat with one of the table waiters (Andrew). Would have given 4.5 stars but cant so I leave 5 here. Keep up the good works.
J. W.
Loved Hadley's. Super friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Delicious seafood chowder on room service. Only downside is not much street parking to drop off luggage.
N. G.
Gorgeous hotel with gorgeous staff. Happy to assist us with any queries we had. Bed so so big that my partner did not disturb my sleep. Vanity in bathroom was a little strange, being over the toilet, but this was a mere triviality. Would highly recommend. Centrally located made it easy walking to anywhere we needed to go.
M. H.
A very cool hotel situated in a great location to explore Hobart. We enjoyed our stay here and the staff were lovely.
A. C.
I love this hotel. It is one of the memorable hotels I have ever stayed. Looks historical yet very clean and well maintained. I also love their pillows! there are range of selections from soft to firm. I wish I could buy one.
S. W.
Very good friendly hotel with good restaurant and bar
S. E.
This was a beautifully retro place with a feel of history. Clean rooms. Breakfast was plain and I wouldn't fry the hushbrowns so much. Some staff surprisingly didnt know about the history of the hotel even though its famous specifically for its history! We were served cocktails despite bar being closed upon late arrival and check in. Very friendly barman. Was allowed to play piano in the main area. Would definitely visit again but have food elsewhere. The local markets down the road were a highlight too. Tasmania is a lovely place!
E. K.
Beautiful old heritage building, it's an incredible place to stay and even walk around when you're there. Has been kept in the old style. Perfect location in the centre of Hobart. The room was spacious and comfortable. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Pianist playing in the bar late in the week also and the drinks were really good. Loved it.
S. P.
Beautiful, old hotel in a rustic location. Lobby, bar, restaurant and room were all decorated and well maintained to suit the building. All staff we met were friendly & inviting. The bed & pillows were very comfortable. The bar had a great atmosphere & games available.
Parking is $17.50 per night a short walk away - make sure you call and reserve as spaces are limited!
N. L.
Beautiful environment, nice desserts and sandwiches, we took lots of photos here and had a wonderful afternoon 🥳
R. &. M. S.
It is absolutely lovely. Comfy clean rooms with the feeling of another era. The front desk staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly and fun. Would highly recommend.
S. K.
Amazing room 202 the biggest suit ever
Will be back

The hotel itself is a great Dame of Hobart's hotel history. Many owners have come and gone, yet this Great Dame still stands. The venue is nicely laid out with elements of its historical past in view. Function rooms either exhibit old world charm, or have been modified beyond recognition of their heyday. The air-conditioning is in definite need of a service or replacement and is extremely loud. A quick message to the reception team however had this rectified within minutes.
S. R.
Lovely hotel and a wonderfully spacious room. Felt very luxurious. Staff were very friendly and super helpful.
N. C.
We loved this National Trust listed hotel and bar and restaurant for it's heritage features and charm. Housekeeping service was excellent, better than Front Desk staff who were often distracted.
T. M. (.
One of the best value here in Hobart. The localisation, equipments are a real plus. The victorian atmosphere is really pleasant.
The team working here is really nice and competent.
The breakfast was really good also!
C. B.
We had a family room with four single beds and the room was very clean and comfortable. The historical decor was great. Service was impeccable. Dad enjoyed local whiskeys at the bar. Location is central and convenient. Only downside: the parking is off site and there is no valet so there is lots of traffic to go drop off the car. I came back for a meeting a few days later and the amenities were good and sandwiches yummy.
M. L.
It is in a good area as far as walking to museums and food and to the water. Hotel is old, but that just means it has more character. Bed was very soft. It had air conditioning, free WiFi, and flat screen TVs to address modern needs.
S. C.
Staff were friendly and attentive. The standard rooms are cramped but sufficient. Musky smell from the room 'slightly' dampened the overall experience- perhaps unavoidable in a 200 year-old hotel. However, the small touches to the stay were lovely. The entire hotel is aesthetically pleasing.
P. B.
It's in a fantastic spot, don't forget to book parking when you book your accommodation, if you have a car. The room is incredibly spacious, the staff patient and accomandating. Menu tasty and delicious, small selection of cocktails. Buffet breakfast yummy. It's a beautiful preserved heritage site and one very old hotel that represents the period it was built.
F. S.
Stayed four nights and really enjoyed it. Close to everything with polite friendly staff, comfortable clean room and a beautifully cooked breakfast each morning. Just to experience the atmosphere of this lovely old hotel is reason enough to stay there. A relaxing drink in the Orient bar at the end of the day, listening to the piano player was wonderful. Stay there !
S. C.
The best hotel l have stayed at! Still old fashioned love the antiques in the bedrooms. Staff are friendly
K. E.
This is a wonderful accessible piece of Hobart’s history, nestled in the city and close to everything. The service is great, with charming and helpful people keen to make the visit enjoyable. We came for a drink, meal and wander around and were captivated by the period architecture and setting.
The food and drink were good, with a comfortable dining room and a good but simple menu.
If you are interested in Antarctic history, this hotel has had both Mawson and Amundsen as guests!
K. E.
Excellent staff: very friendly, informative and approachable. Location was great for what we required. Room was clean and comfy. Room service was delicious and at a realistic price. The only thing i could suggest is having two chairs rather than one in a room designed for 2 people. Not a negative as we comfortably sat and ate on the bed... just a suggestion.
A. T.
We had a wonderful time staying with them on our short trip to Hobart, the reception was very friendly and the location of the hotel is just perfect, walking distance to the market and shopping streets. We had a lovely afternoon tea time at their gorgeous venue on the ground floor. The only drawback was we had allergy to the blanket in the room, they will need to be washed regularly especially during the cold months.
J. T.
First night best sleep. Good.breakfast. Great staff but beware of one way streets. Good parking price and location
M. S.
Amazing. Beautuful historical hotel and we'll deserves it's 4 stars. In fact should be 5 stars. The staff are impeccable and it's walking distance to everything you need in Hobart.
The decor I have to mention. Everything is fitted to it's theme I loved the small details like the vintage news paper delivery that shared the hotels history. The art gallery and all the vintage furniture in the common areas. Although vintage everything is kept to a high standard and nothing is "old or shabby". Food was good and the cocktails were of high standard.
Of course the stand out feature and experience is the High tea in the Atrium. Takes me back in time and to die for treats.
Loved my experience at the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.
P.
Staff are always welcoming and friendly. They are all locals with good knowledge of the area. The Oriental Bar staff are attentive and knowledgeable of their food and drinks menu. The selection of Tasmanian drinks is strong with many whiskies and gins available. The bar is good for after work knockoff drinks or for dinner with friends and family.
T. R.
Beautiful hotel, stunning rooms and building, tea room was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Staff were well mannered and friendly, their customer service exceeded expectation.
Definitely intend on staying here again in the future :)
O. M.
Staff are fantastic. The hotel is just a beautiful old girl, and everything about it was easy. Rooms are clean, modern locks on doors, and the food and cocktails are spot on. Thank you for this wonderful gem.
C. K.
High tea for 4 people was divine.
This was such a nice experience.
Would highly recommend.
Staff are pleasant and well dressed.
S. A.
I felt so posh staying here. Such a stunning old building. Lovely touches. Great showers (water pressure and temp) even on the second floor. Comfy beds. Live music in the bar was a treat!
B. T.
My friend and I struggled to find a place for dinner having flown late into a weeknight to Hobart. I was glad that the kitchen was still open here (last food orders at 930pm). I ordered a seafood chowder - the kitchen was not stingy one bit and the ingredients were generous. I would say it was a bit thick in the texture, but the flavours were very much there and it was a good meal to end my night.
P. C.
Nice hotel in the centre of Hobart with easy walks to everything.
The rooms are clean and comfortable with free Wifi also tea and coffee facilities there’s also a bar in the reception area.
You can park a car but it is in a multi story car park a minutes walk away.
S. K.
It was a really good experience. They have their car parking as well but its 700m away from hotel.
T. M.
The rooms are beautiful and take you straight back to the Victorian era. We were greeted by friendly staff and found our way to the rooms without delay. Very pleasant for a large group of people. All the staff from then on were really lovely and brought the place to life.
D. S.
I'll be staying here again. This hotel is amazing. It's not all big and sparkling ... It has that extra charm and old school feel. The staff were very friendly and would be great help. Room service food was lovely and hot. Downstairs in the bar after 5pm is also another lovely feature. Sitting there wth a drink and listening to piano was great.
S.
A timeless, sophisticated venue with great service. Our function in a private room was exceptional, the staff were super helpful and friendly, food was delicious. Definitely a night to remember.
T. M.
This is a grand old lady, one of the uniquely few over-a-hundred- year hotels around the worldIn another 16 years, this one will be exactly 200 years old! Location is perfect, right in the middle of the old downtown area of Hobert. …
L. D.
4 and a half stars!
Wonderful hotel - cosy room, great service and in a perfect, very central location. Highly recommended for both period charm and affordability. We felt welcome and cared for during our stay, and the breakfasts and bar are excellent.
P. S.
Only stayed for a drink nice place clean toileys
A. M.
A great place to relax after a long trip around Tasmania. By chance I booked Hadley’s. It’s the small touches that make you feel welcome, like my name printed on welcome cards, letters, politeness of staff and bed turnover services etc. The old charm and atmosphere here is like no other. A luxury home away from home. Closely located a few steps to sky bus terminal to airport Thanking you. I only wish I stayed longer :)
N. P.
Excellent service, perfect location, rooms clean and tidy, very friendly staff. In particular 5 stars to Chelsea who was always very friendly and made us feel at home!
B. R.
Glorious historical hotel in Hobart. Helpful staff and close to the harbour, restaurants and shops. Guest laundry was a boon on a longer trip. Lovely room and a bath in the bathroom. Yay!! Also a very nice bar in the hotel and beautiful breakfast atrium.
J. H.
One of the most beautiful Hotels we have stayed at from our trips around the world ! Customer service amazing and the food and service sensational ! So central to the city of Hobart. Quiet for sleeping , clean and cosy beds . Felt right at home. Will definitely be back !!
D. S.
Very 'old school' type hotel. Beautifully decorated, colour scheme very 'old world'.
Staff are terrific, nothing too much trouble.
Great feeling of being 'welcomed' and appreciated.
Food and service was excellent.
Loved it.
G. S.
Daughter in law's baby shower high tea. Great room , menu catered for all dietary requirements with delicious finger food. Paul looked after us brilliantly.
Very pleasant. Well done all.
R. J.
A step back in history is the way I'd describe Hadley's Orient. Just like a hotel plucked out of the Victorian times. Rooms are large and comfortable, tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. First night you can have your bed turned down for you if you wish. Modern touches include t.v. a fridge and shower. Hot breakfast is individually ordered and served to you. Cereal, toast and drinks you do your self. Staff very friendly and happy to help. Bar and restaurant busy in the evenings with food very good.
V. P.
We had an amazing stay with Hadley's Orient Hotel in Murray Street, Hobart. It was close to everything and always service with a smile. Our room rate included breakfast every day which was absolutely divine! We enjoyed continental breakfast buffet plus one hot meal cooked fresh. I absolutely recommend this hotel and we will be back again.
A.
Beautiful hotel with an interesting history. Comfortable beds with a pillow menu! Great to stay in a place with character instead of the typical corporate feel of most hotels. No parking on site but lots nearby and free parking after 6 on the street.
A. B.
Very nice. If you like period style hotels you are going to love Hadley's. My room was great, not sure about the rest. The bathroom was a bit dated though. The aircon is too loud. Free wifi. There's a coffee machine with Vittoria coffee pods in the room. There's no microwave to heat up milk though. Live piano music in the bar downstairs every Thursday night. Older style furniture, chandeliers etc. The food is nice but the wait was very long. Great location in the CBD.
J. C.
Lovely heritage public spaces, fascinating art gallery displaying significant artwork, delicious and well-priced bar snacks, relaxed ambience with gentle music. The whole experience was was a calming elegance.
T. M.
The staff are very attentive and willing to help. Staff at the front desk were amazing and even rang me to allow me to check in earlier so that dad could have a rest. Room was a king room and very comfy. As a local I may of found my preferred hotel to stay in if I need to ""overnight.
J. O.
Quaint, Victorian era hotel with lots of old world charm. Check in and out was a breeze and staff were responsive. Comfortable rooms and beds, with the airconditioning particularly keeping me warm during the cold winter! Location was great and close to all the major attractions and transport points. Thanks team!
C. M.
This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in in a while. Has an old school charm about it and they do the small things very well. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone needing a charming character in the heart of Hobart.
C. Y.
We didn't stay, tho its our second time dining here. The staff are amazing and super cheerful I enjoyed every part ov my meal and the staff even remember me from 2 months previous
A. H.
Historic hotel with decent rooms in an excellent location. Nothing special other than its aged decor. Bathroom fittings surprisingly modern. Looks like the setting of an Agatha Christie novel. Would not recommend the breakfast--there are plenty of options around the area.
O.
Staff are very friendly, hotel is nice, but everything is very dated. I realise this is probably the look they are going for, but it looks like the place hasn't had a coat of paint in 20 years, and the bathroom looks pretty much straight out of the 70's. The room is lacking iron and board, and needs more coat hangers. There is no on-site parking, and I wasn't offered a valet service, but they said there is offsite parking for $15 per night, which I haven't bothered with.
D. M.
Really enjoyed our stay at this charming old worldy colonial building smack back in the CBD right alongside the Salamanca Markets and Pier to Mona. Period settings, plenty of creature comforts and double glazing in the windows for a very quiet stay. Beds were soft yet comfy, plenty of pillows and a turn down service before bed was a nice touch.
G. F.
Fantastic staff, fabulous meals great location and lovely period hotel
J.
We loved this place. The staff were amazing. The building sooooo interesting with so much history.
The food was excellent.
Rooms were cozy but no tea coffee facility's or bar fridge.
Beds extremely comfortable with a selection of pillows from firmest to softest...
Excellent location. So central walking to restsurants and vsrious places of intetest.
Unfortunately parking is offsite at a coat of $15 a day. Only a short walk away.
Best enjoyed by a mature clientele.
Five and a half stars.
M. D.
Wonderful slice of Hobart history beautifully restored and maintained. Friendly staff, centrally located (parking is a challenge), I highly recommend if you are a fan of older, period hotels and a bygone era.
E. M.
Beautiful hotel! Location is perfect and the rooms are comfortable. The staff are lovely and attentive. Overall a great place to stay in Hobart, I will definitely be coming back here!
R.
petfect ..breakfast had outstandin service by a young lady...room great..parking sucks..but very good location..
J. L.
Warm welcoming staff. Beautiful rooms. Comfy bed and pillows.
M. B.
Absolutely loved our couples package. Staff were amazing and would highly recommend this Hotel. Thank you to all staff at Hadley's
L. m.
Excellent service could not do enough for us. Clean, food delicious. Right in the centre of Hobart near everything.

It is in a good area as far as walking to museums and food and to the water. Hotel is old, but that just means it has more character. Bed was very soft. It had air conditioning, free WiFi, and flat screen TVs to address modern needs.
K. E.
This is a wonderful accessible piece of Hobart’s history, nestled in the city and close to everything. The service is great, with charming and helpful people keen to make the visit enjoyable. We came for a drink, meal and wander around and …

Beautiful old girl. Lovely building, excellent concierge and stunning surroundings. I adore this place and hope she is around for another 200 years. Just beautiful.

Excellent staff: very friendly, informative and approachable. Location was great for what we required. Room was clean and comfy. Room service was delicious and at a realistic price. The only thing i could suggest is having two chairs rather …

A step back in history is the way I'd describe Hadley's Orient. Just like a hotel plucked out of the Victorian times. Rooms are large and comfortable, tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. First night you can have your bed turned down for …

We had a wonderful time staying with them on our short trip to Hobart, the reception was very friendly and the location of the hotel is just perfect, walking distance to the market and shopping streets. We had a lovely afternoon tea time at …

Comfortable old colonial style hotel. Enjoyed sitting down and reading by the fireplace in the bar. Conveniently located in center of the town with short walks to harbor side and shopping. Would stay here again if ever coming back to Hobart.
S. I.
Great central hotel beautifully presented. Staff very polite and attentive. Excellent continental breakfast.
S. N.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff. Really charming English style hotel. Very good location near harbour, shops, sky bus and tourist information.
P. G.
Loved our stay here; very central, warm & clean rooms and service friendly! The only issue is lack of parking but thats easily accessible nearby. The amenities are great -- ie. bar, breakfast area etc. Worth staying at if you want to be walking distance to salamanca.
T. C.
Characterful hotel built in 1834 that claims Nellie Melba and Douglas Mawson as former guests.
The building has lots of period charm that is little diminished by the presence of a lift, reverse cycle air-conditioning and free WiFi.
The third floor room had a king sized bed, two wicker armchairs and a small writing table.
There was a choice of teas (in addition to instant coffee and hot chocolate) mugs, a small teapot, biscuits and a small milk carton in the bar fridge.
Noticable noise from street but the area was generally quiet when we were there over a weekend.
The bathroom is a little tired but the water pressure is good and there are Appelles toiletries.
The continental (cold items only) buffet breakfast at $16 a head is nothing to get excited about. If you want made to order hot dishes the price goes up to $23.
The location is handy for the main shopping area, the docks and Salamanca Place.
G. B.
Accomodatation Excellent room, great night sleep, friendly helpfull staff. The bar is to character of the theme and would suit some, but we found the Victoria tavern next door to big an excellent friendly waterhole
T. M.
Hotel is well located in Hobart. The decor and rooms are what you would expect from and older style hotel and gives you the feeling of Hobart in the 30's or 40's. Mini-bar and fridge, flat screen tv, lounge chair and small table rounded out the compact room.
F. a.
The old-timey feel of this place is on point. From corner to corner, room to room, this is what true royalty feels like. The recptionists are extremely helpful, and the common room is fitted with comfy lounge chairs surrounding a grandiose fireplace. Even the cheapest of rooms are well kept and comfy. A real pleasure to stay in. Located in the centre of hobart, only five minutes away from salamanca market. Probably the BEST hotel in Hobart. I would defiantly reccomend this place to any travellers.
M. B.
Absolutely loved our couples package. Staff were amazing and would highly recommend this Hotel. Thank you to all staff at Hadley's
S. M.
Great classic atmosphere. Excellent room. Presented beautifully. Friendly staff. Good food and service. Will definately return and recommend to family and friends.

Plenty of character, nice staff - OK bar. Rooms tidy and neat but could use more thought in layout - bit awkward.
N. H.
Great rooms. Dinner and breakfast were great. They just put in a new menu which seems pretty good, only tried the porterhouse steak which was really good and fair priced.
B. F.
Staff are lovely, the rooms are ok, it's just an old building so floors aren't straight, you cant open windows, fridge and air conditioner were loud. Place has charm.
T. M.
I ran a workshop there during our visit (that was the purpose of our trip to Hobart) and the function staff were equally helpful. To give the staff their due we were offered dessert (which we were neither willing nor able to accept) and we …

Thank you for a lovely weekend last week. Your gesture of a complimentary bottle of bubbly to celebrate our marriage was wonderful. We were amused at the fire alarm on Friday morning but hey, that added to the overall excitement. We will definitely revisit in the future.
P. S.
We have had both dinner and high tea here and they were both excellent and very reasonably priced. Afternoon tea was memorable! Also a lovely heritage building and friendly staff.
T. D.
Awesome staff, especially Ben who went out of the way to ensure we enjoyed our visit, room was fabulous, wish I had more time to stay but places to go and all that, Would make it my first stop next again.
T. C.
Fantastically warm welcome at an historic and very comfortable hotel.
Elise was a breath of fresh air after a weary journey and the man sized bath and room service fish and chips were a great bonus!
B. H.
My most recent stay probably the 10th return visit to this venue. Hadleys is an lovely old hotel hailing from a bygone era of chesterfield furnitures and bankers lamps. I just love the creaky floorboards under the victorian carpets it reminds me of my grandmothers big old house. If you would like a hotel with character try this venue.
+1 Room service meals are generous is size and good value, or you'll find plenty of options within walking distance outside.
+2 Another reason for my continual return is the fabulous & personable front desk service particularly from Crystal and Angelica. Thanks for looking after me girls 😊
G. R.
Not sure where to stay in Hobart? Stop thinking and just book this place. People are lovely, old world but not dated rooms and great location. Would definitely stay again

I was expecting M. Gustave himself to step out from behind the counter upon entering this hotel. All a little bit Grand Budapest Hotel.. Clean and comfortable rooms - helpful and friendly staff in this magnificent old hotel.
T. B.
Made a booking here for high tea with very short notice and the staff at reception were most helpful and willing to accomodate us. The whole high tea experience was very pleasant - the staff were very attentive and willing to assist. I highly recommend the high tea here.

Very spacious room, very clean and tidy, reception is very friendly and helpful. Only downside is there are stairs on the corridors, maybe difficult for disabled or fragile tenants to go to their rooms

This is a review for the breakfast here.
This is an elegant old hotel. I popped in on spec this morning for breakfast. It’s a beautiful old dining room here. High ceilings and superbly painted and restored. It’s not a bad brekkie at all here. You get a choice of continental and main meals. I went for the bacon and eggs with avocado smash and mushrooms. Lovely bacon and mushies. The avocado smash had a lovely consistency but just needed needed a bit more seasoning.
It was a classy, elegant and restrained brekkie. A bit of old worlde charm. I enjoyed the quiet music playing. Service was attentive and efficient. The staff were very impressive actually. Overall cost was reasonable for the quality of the meal and the surroundings.
This is a good place and a good experience. Recommended.
J. C.
