Great working hostel. Val and David are of the nicest people I met on my first year in Australia, very generous and helped me to find good jobs while staying at the hostel. I completed my 88 days with no problems. There is WiFi, hostel vans you can use for work or local grocery shopping if you don't have your own car and share cost with others. Location is very convinient regarding shopping, working around the area and exploring. Will be going back for my second year farm work.
Thank you Val! Thank you David!

Great Hostel, met really good people.
David, Val and Andy are really nice and really helped you to find a job quickly. The beds are comfy and you are not far away from the town. So it's perfect if you don't have a car.
Also they can provide you car if you need to go to the farm.

Some of the kindest people work here I have met in my travels. Whilst I had been inundated with horror stories about working hostels ripping you off and not finding you work, David Val and Andy where the most helpful anyone could be in assisting my friends and I in finding work. Whilst there was always Strawberry picking (not the best job in the world) David and Val will always try and match you up with nicer opportunities such as Apples, Cherries, Grapes. They seemed to have good connections with the local farmers in the area and where often rung with employment opportunities. There are hostel vehicles that are used to transport you to the farms and if there was not enough room in the communal vehicles they would organise transport even if it was in their own cars. We where invited to BBQ's and generally treated like one big crazy international family. Whilst cosmetically and sometimes functionally the actual hostel was a bit over-loved, and a heads up you have to pay $1 for the showers (so bring change when you check in!) you cannot beat the hostel for atmosphere and working to get your 88days signed off. I have made some fantastic friends there, particularly with the staff.

Great working hostel in Huonville, Tasmania. The owners David and Val are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure your settled. Once the season starts there seems to be plenty of work. Only downside in my opinion is you have to pay 1 doller for a hot shower to besides that great hostel in a beautiful area 😃

The rooms in the main house are too small, they put 4 people inside, 2 people should be the max for the price we pay. I came very earlier(end of November)for the cherry season as they said the season will start early this year and if I want to have a job I have to come ASAP. finally I stayed 4 weeks without job and lots of people who arrived much later than me, worked before me. If you have a car and u don’t need to stay here, all the farm the LDB is working with, can accept u if u apply by yourself, they don’t have the exclusivity and find a sharehouse would be much cheaper. Ah you have to pay 1$ for 7 min of hot water during the shower. Internet is like everywhere in Australia slow, but still ok. Btw i met some nice people there and had a lot of fun

Wonderful hostel with great wifi (booking for 1 week) friendly staff who try their best to know everyone's names. Food storage in the 2 kitchens and free food bins. Bring your own pots, pans, plates, cutlery (op shops near by if you dont have cooking equipment) or check the cooking trolley filled with all the utensils plates and cooking equipment people leave (take what you need leave what you dont). Fantastic comunity areas with free access to 4 computers and televisions (HDMI cables connected plus an Xbox at the moment). Work (farmwork) is usually quite easy to obtain, just ask at reception. Hot showers are 1 dollar but cold showers are free! Camping spots available with access to lockers. Zen house for people who prefer a quieter room. 16 person dorm and smaller 4 person dorms (16 person dorm is cheaper and is quite nice although a bit far from the restrooms). BBQ every month in peak season (farming) and wicked campfires whenever someone gathers the wood. Fooseball/table soccer outside of camping kitchen and an outdoor sitting area with heating. Quaint little pizza place next to the main building and Woolies just down the road for all of your food needs. Overall the Little Devil Backpackers is a great place to stay comfortably for a few weeks while you look for work/work/hang out/ relax.

Only the best place to find friends and a helping hand. The Little Devil Backpackers guaranteed me a job and accommodation. I never had to wait for a shower (only $1 for 7 minutes!), washing (and drying) or to make my coffee. The Little Devil Backpackers really cater to all my needs with ease. All the benefits of Wifi, television, computers etc.I felt secured and on track for the rest of my holiday in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. I recommend The LDB to everyone passing thru.
I cannot thank you enough V & D.
