This place is incredible, I would give it ten stars if I could. The building and grounds are beautiful and the room is just as beautiful with an amazing view. When we arrived we had the fire on for us. The location is great a few minutes drive to Salamanca place. A tasty breakfast was cooked for us every morning with a fresh coffee. The service was five star, thanks Jess for your kindness and helpfulness. Don’t want to check out.

What a beautiful majestic lady this mansion is, so regal and opulent. The rooms are luxurious with modern amenities, but with old world charm. Couldn't fault the service or the food, very obliging staff. The gardens are definitely worth a stroll through, so calming and pretty, and dont forget to check out the view of Mt Wellington and the Derwent River from the turret, maybe while sipping a glass of wine or two. We will definitely be back. 😊

Would give 10 stars if I could. We absolutely loved our stay at the Maylands Lodge. The staff were so accommodating, the decor and rooms are so sophistocated and elegant, the grounds are quant and well-kept, and most of all the food! Oh my the food was exquisite. We DID NOT want to leave. Thank you for the best stay Maylands, we will be back again and sending EVERYONE we know your way!

Absolute perfection. The included hot breakfast is also excellent. I'd highly recommend the hotel for a stay. Plenty of parking that is fully secure.

We were recommended dinner here and it was the highlight of our trip to Hobart. The food is adventurous, complex and thoughtful. The chef’s tasting menu highlights Tasmanian produce and has modern Australian and Asian influences. Highly recommend if you want to try something different at
a very reasonable price. Very friendly staff and the hotel renovation is very impressive.

Such a charming, homey but also grand place full of character. Would return 100%. Jess provided a warm welcome and we appreciated her hospitality. It was a great way to end our Tassie trip.

Absolutely amazing Fathers Day Brunch. The service was fantastic and the food delicious. Children and adults were all excited by the choices available. Thank you everyone for a memorable day.

An excellent historical fully restored late Georgian place to stay, close to the CBD. Excellent breakfasts, friendly staff, and stunning views. Highly recommend when staying in Hobart.

I booked the Pearce 2 bedroom and was upgraded to the Hunter suite. We received such a warm welcome. Loved the suite and everything that came with it. Breakfast was freshly cooked and served in their lovely dining area.
Hope to return soon.

Maylands Lodge is an Amazing little boutique hotel with a historical feel, modern facilities and a great atmosphere. We were blown away by the fantastic staff, excellent customer service, and fabulous interior inside our room and in the common areas. The common areas showcase a bar and a little lounge with a dining area to sit and a wine cellar where guests can choose local wines. Every morning, one of our favourite parts was the delicious à la carte breakfast with a choice of sweet and savoury dishes ranging from Egg Benedict to porridge and muesli. The presentation and taste were just mind-blowing. We can’t wait to come back and stay at Maylands Lodge again.
The only thing that was not as good as the others where the pillows, as they are not so comfy. But it could be my personal preference.

One of my favourite stays in Tasmania. Would come back for sure. Excellent breakfast, thoughtful renovations.

My wife and I enjoyed a short stay at Maylands Lodge. The host upon arrival was very welcoming and showed us to our room. The breakfast the following morning was outstanding, and the dining room itself was sublime. Only minor critique I have is the rooms themselves are a bit dated in design and could have a more modern touch. Some faulty aspects such as broken bins and “aged/stained” toilet seats could be fixed easily. But otherwise we had a good stay and would visit again next time we’re in Hobart.

This is now my favourite hotel to stay in Hobart. We booked it first time and stayed there Jan 2021. It was my Husband’s birthday and the hotel upgraded our room for free.
Amazing and friendly service! Delicious and seasonal restaurant! Incredible building and extremely spacious and comfortable rooms! Overall experience 6 out of 5! Recommend! Recommend! Recommend!

We had a lovely stay with Maylands lodge. The hotel provides a heritage boutique feel with modern furnishings. The breakfast was excellent and the coffee was delicious. The lodge also sits on top of a hill and provides a unique perspective of the Hobart hills. The service and staff were exceptional.

Jess and the wonderful team went above and beyond to ensure my stay and event was nothing less than spectacular.
My 40th dinner party had the most magnificent unique menu was created by a very talented chef. Breakfast on the Sunday was the perfect ending to the most memorable experience. I highly recommend anyone. Local or tourist to put this place as a must experience!

Great experience in a historical building, nicely refurbished and finished with high quality materials. The room was spacious and bathroom was clean and modern.
Breakfast was superb with decent range of dish selections and staff was friendly, attentive and welcoming. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely go back when next time in Hobart.

From the moment that we arrived we were looked after and made feel so welcome. The property is magnificent and has been renovated with such respect for the period. Rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious and the small details such as the styling, technology and lighting make it incredible. Food and coffee was delicious and nothing was too hard for the staff, Jesse looked after us and made our stay lovely.

Fabulous stay, thanks.
Benefits:
- incredible room with high quality finish and lots of amazing touches
- welcoming and helpful staff
- delicious breakfast
Just consider:
- as an old building, there is a tendency for floors to be a little noisy. If you are a light sleeper, maybe organise a room upstairs.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and could not have picked a better spot, the rooms was spacious and well put together, the bathroom was wonderful with a window opening out to the garden in front of the bath. Food was amazing, would come back to Tessie just to have the breakfast here if I could.
S. R.
Excellent can not fault this place. If you want a bit of luxury this is where to go recommend to anyone
P. S.
High end luxury accommodation. Very comfortable, excellent facilities, first class breakfast. Well worth that special stay.

Our room was amazing. We loved everything about our stay and it made our holiday.
The staff were warm and welcoming, the atmosphere was amazing, and the food was delicious.
Would highly recommend!

This simply is a cosy place. Excellent for families with kids as well although we did not bring them along . It is loaded with non-intrussive technology. You have Bluetooth speakers so you can play your own media. It has wifi access points and LAN for each room so you can have blistering streaming, you can even hook your camcorder/camera to the network. The bathrooms are the big and ultra modern , but in a non-intrussive way in keeping with the style of the place which has significant history. The bathrooms have wide doors that leave amble room for wheelchairs and are open plan and well designed. . The toilets have hand rails and the open shower has a bench for people with disabilities. The check-in staff are up there with masters in their trade. You get brief, adequate and accurate history of the lodge. You also get brochures of what to see in Tassie on check in. Not just the highlighted points about the actual accommodation rules which other hotels are keen to give you. They have these little cards attached to each item of technology on how to use it, not a booklet like most accommodation places.
Good COVID measures were in place. Although the dining does not form this review it suffices to say it was top notch too.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maylands Lodge. Wasn’t entirely sure when booking as it’s a little distance from the central area in Hobart, but any doubts disappeared instantly upon check-in. The suites are so nicely renovated, the staff incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the daily breakfast a real treat for the road trip weary traveller. Am definitely looking forward to coming back for another stay in the future.

I don’t know where to begin; IT WAS A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!!! We booked the hotel same day of check in and had a late check-in. The hotel staff will leave at 2 PM and after that no one is at the reception. We tried calling several times around 5PM and even thought it’s a scam. But when we went there, at the gate, they had left a number to call for after hours. Then we found out, the information email regarding late check in never arrived on our inbox. While on call, the manager lady explained how to check in and she has even left us an envelope with keycards.
We stayed there 2 nights and on the second night we got a great upgrade to the top room. The room comes with all facilities. They even have gas fireplace in the room. I would highly recommend do checkin to the premium room as it offers bathtub and beautiful room of the valley. At night, it was jus us around 7:30 and I guess rest of the guests were out. I was so scared to walk down the living room as the building interior exactly look like many of the horror movies. Fun apart, I have asked the presence of any spirits and the manager assured there are none. I agree, this place isn’t haunted even though it was build 150 years ago.
When you are there; ask for the history of the house and it’s interesting. The in-house bar is based on honest system. You could drink any drinks off the shelves and just make sure you leave the note about how much you consumed. You will be charged based on what you wrote. They have all varieties of alcohol in the house. In the living room, under the floor, lies the hidden wine cellar. This can be open by a special key and ask the management for the same.
This quaint country mansion is a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. The body cream, shower gel, shampoo and conditioners were are high quality. You can also go to the top most floor where laid back seating for relaxing or even read a book. The breakfast service is very good and I still taste the eggs Benedict they served. Best part, it’s included in the room charge. 100% recommended.

The best experience!!!! The rooms are beautiful, gardens are amazing and staff are outstanding!!! Cannot recommend this place enough!!

Will come back to Maylands Lodge only whenever I visit Hobart. Every staff were friendly, genuine and we were personally escorted to the room. The room exceeded all expectations I had - plush pillows on a large bed, beautiful bathtub, an overhead rain shower, I don’t know if it was just me but the bathroom floor felt like they were heated too (big big plus if I wasn’t just imagining it), lovely range of loose tea and they gave us tea and muffins for afternoon tea. We were given an a la carte breakfast menu to choose from which was absolutely perfect, compared to the usual breakfast buffet in most hotels, and it tasted spectacular. The interior of this mansion was just lovely too. Besides being just a tiny bit out of the city centre (which is not a big of a deal), there is truly no fault to this place and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Hobart to choose Maylands Lodge.
S. T.
Maylands Lodge truly exceeded our expectations. Our suite was beautifully appointed (with incredible views from every window) and each room we entered evidenced superb attention to detail. Aside from the pleasing aesthetics of the Lodge we were also impressed by the level of hospitality shown to us. We were greeted with warmth and personally escorted to our room. We never lacked for anything and felt genuinely valued as guests. Needless to say we were disappointed to come to the end of our stay. It was a wonderful setting to celebrate our anniversary - we would highly recommend to anyone looking for thoughtful, well-executed accommodation and exceptional hospitality.

We can see why Maylands gets such great reviews! Amazing friendly staff, rooms were absolutely immaculate. Such a unique building and experience. Would 100% stay here again

We had a comfortable and delicious time staying at Maylands in February with our toddler.
Staff are very nice and welcoming. Shout out to Jess!
Having breakfast cooked every morning and a proper coffee is a real treat. My favourite was the hot cakes.
The building is interesting to explore. Be sure to go up to the tower and use the lounge/bar. The gardens on the grounds are also very pretty and our toddler loved walking the paths and pointing out the colours of all the flowers.
The rooms simple and clean, very luscious carpet. Netflix was a handy and nice bonus to have.

We had such a lovely stay here last week, the most beautiful room in the most beautiful building. Was definitely a luxury stay with lots of individual character. The staff were so lovely and helpful and we felt very welcomed. The breakfast was also delicious! Would definitely recommend. Quite far out of town but a lovely walk through the botanical gardens if you fancy a walk!
B. S.
Amazing place to stay. From the friendly and helpful staff to the beautiful rooms I highly recommended Maylands Lodge. The complimentary afternoon tea delivered to our room and the gorgeous 5 star breakfast Maylands Lodge made us feel welcome and relaxed. The kids also enjoyed the Netflix and Stan in their own private space within our room.
J. M.
The most amazing space I've stayed! Spectacular establishment, lovely staff beautiful rooms. The building is gorgeous and historic, and the rooms are beautifully and luxuriously furnished. Couldn't recommend it highly enough for a romantic getaway in Hobart!

Absolutely loved our stay at Maylands Lodge. Gareth and his team were lovely and the home is restored beautifully. Breakfast was fantastic and the lounge bar was a great way to spend the afternoon relaxing. Cannot recommend enough to stay here if you have the chance!

My partner and I made a spur of the moment decision about where to stay on our last night in Hobart, and boy did we strike GOLD!
Mayland’s lodge is a luxurious and stylish hotel. The interior design is sleek, comfortable, modern and true to its heritage, refurbished elegantly. The building itself beholds a delightful grandeur which embodies a sense of charm and homely comfort.
The staff were friendly and cared about our stay. We were delighted by our exchanges with Alex, who was a wonderful help and attendant to the hotels overall great service. The restaurants food was outstanding and catered to our dietary requirements.
Honestly, it was hard to fault this hotel or experience. We will most definitely be back to visit, as well as happily recommend this on to our friends and family as a MUST.
To the team at Maylands - Thank you for having us!

You must stay here. What a phenomenal experience for my stay in Hobart. The beautiful heritage building has been lovingly restored and appointed with an attention to detail that is beyond compare. The service is impeccable, the food in the restaurant is delectable and the views from the place are indescribable. There is nowhere else worth staying at in Hobart after staying here.

Had a great stay here. Staff very friendly, breakfast was great and as expected, room clean and large, entire building in very good condition. Would recommend. Would return. Thank you

Maylands Lodge was simply stunning. We were here for 5 nights and it was beautiful. Our rooms were lovely and we had breakfast cooked for us each morning. The staff are also so friendly and helpful. There was a nice garden area and the building itself was lovely. They have kept all of the heritage features but modernised inside. It is in a great location and only takes 10 minutes to get into the heart of Hobart. There are also shops just down the road, a bakery, a Coles and a Kmart. If we ever go back to Hobart this is where I will be staying again!
A.
Wow what an amazing place, only had a work Christmas dinner and it was perfect, service very attentive, food was just perfect and a great selection for all tastes.
Had our own area with doors that opened out side, great views, hidden gem, simply perfect, bookings are needed and secure entry so felt very safe, a must for a stay or just dinner

Maylands Lodge is a boutique hotel that is 5 minutes out of Hobart CBD. We stayed here for 4 nights and had an incredible time - the staff were really friendly, the rooms were we clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend - Maylands Lodge makes for a much more memorable experience than a normal hotel.

We absolutely loved our stay at Maylands Lodge. The rooms were beautiful, the staff were very friendly and approachable. The included breakfasts were also delicious. We would highly recommend Maylands Lodge to any visitors coming to Hobart.

First time I have ever felt the need to write a review in all the years I have travelled - a truly magic and special property. This building, it's rooms, the interior design... all just stunning. The hospitality was fabulous and I highly recommend staying here. We had a car for the weekend so location was prefect. Special thanks to Jess who looked after us this weekend!
G. J.
This is certainly one of the best places I have stayed. Everything was perfect and the attention to the smallest detail was inspired. On our warm welcome we were told to treat the place like a home. It felt that way. All the staff were kind, professional and always ready to help. The breakfasts were exceptional. The nightly tap on the door in the evening to be presented with a plate of homemade monte-carlos and tea was a charming touch. Netflix in all the rooms was great for a family with different tastes. Our stay was truly relaxing and when we return to Hobart we hope to indulge ourselves here again. Thanks to all who made our holiday great at Maylands Lodge.
D. G.
The staff were very attentive and we throughly enjoyed the excellent breakfast (included in the room price) and dinner.
We stayed in the hunter room and it’s very spacious and comfortable. The fireplace, complimentary Netflix and the bath made our lazy afternoon very comfortable and relaxing. In the evening, we received complimentary tea and snacks to wind down the night.
Love the bar lounge which we hang out for pre-dinner drinks making our own cocktails.
Overall, it was a lovely and memorable stay. The highlight is definitely the friendly staff and the delicious food! will definitely be returning to this place again.

I haven’t stayed here but was given the chance to have a pre-opening tour. This mansion was built in 1887 as a statement home for a wealthy mercantile family descended from a convict, it has also served as a home for girls and as the State headquarters of the Salvation Army. It was bought a couple of years back by a local family who have renovated it to become an upmarket boutique hotel, set to open later this week. It has been lovely to watch Maylands being brought back to life over recent months. It looks very comfortable.

What a gem! Our last night in Tassie and we find this awesome accomodation. Attention to detail everywhere. Visually appealing ,great service, great food, comfort plus. The building has been restored with love and commitment. Fantastic rooms and a bathroom with exquisite taste. You could chill here for days looking out to Mt Wellington. Definitely recommend .

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to attend the opening of Maylands Lodge, New Town. From its various uses as a private residence, to boarding home, it has now been lovingly restored and converted beautifully into Hobart's newest luxury accommodation venues. The rooms are opulent and spacious, there are even two bedroom suites for the family!
M. P.
It was a great venue for a small wedding reception (20).
Superb meal.
Have lived in Hobart for years and never knew it was there.
L. H.
In a prime location, great service was provided throughout the evening. The renovated buildings are tastefully done, with a focus on environmental sustainability. Maylands Lodge also donates to charity with every booking and 100% of water sales goes to Charity Water.
