J. O. P. (. O.Simply one of the best hostels I've ever been to. You will have the sensation you're home. The beds are really comfortable, the breakfast is more than enough and for sure the best is the staff. They always have a smile to give. Definitely I'll book the nook again.
K. S.We loved our stay here! We stayed 4 nights and will definitely come back to stay here next time we visit Hobart. Staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The other people that stay here that we spoke to were all very diverse, lovely people. We stayed in a private room - surprisingly good considering it is a 2 star hostel, and would recommend if you like your own privacy. Walls are really thin but people in neighbouring rooms were really respectful and didn't make much noise. Location is perfect - in the middle of the city, walking distance to some great restaurants. Looking forward to staying here again.

We stayed in room 11, the private double room. It was budget priced for the privacy you'll need, but still get to enjoy getting human interactions while in the common areas.
To start with, the location was perfect. After we parked our car, in the Nook's car park, we were checked in by lovely Anna, many hours earlier! Maybe we were lucky that the room had not been occupied the night before, but I'd say Anna was very nice to offer that, and she can sing too. The room was very nice and we even received towels, body wash, shampoo and biscuits! So not expecting that from a backpackers! The lounge room is cosy and homy. Sitting inside makes you feel being in a cafe, only way more spacious. The kitchen has tools and utensils you'll need to whip up a simple meal. I love that they are diligent with recycling. They even recycle bottle lids separately. The food labels they provide are awesomely useful too.
Definitely will come back again when we have the chance, and definitely recommend everyone to come and stay here.
M. D.I stayed for one night in a 14 bed mixed dorm. The facilities were great and environment/vibe was exceptional. The young man on the reception desk was very helpful and very informative. I would like to thank him for his persistance in trying to fix the printer to print out maps of the Franklin River for me, although he had no luck whilst i was there he made my stay great. I will definitely be back!
M. W.The Nook Backpackers! What do I say? This is the best place I have stayed by FAR! They hire out a car for FREE to guests! This is incredible, the public transport is pretty bad and tours or car hire is suuuuper expensive. This is such a nice and great thing to offer people. Other than that, the place is super clean and relaxed. Clearly well managed and maintained. Lots of nice places to sit and chill with nice plants all around. There is a nice deck area out the back and a BBQ. Really friendly staff. My bed was very comfortable and I had some rad people in my room. All round great experience. I'll be back Nook!

X. A. C.Well ... nothing better than neighboring Hostels. The workers are not unfriendly, but they also do not show much desire to work. It is very large and there are always many people in common areas. Avoid room 14, it is too noisy because it overlooks an outside common area. And finally a message to those people who snore: pay you a private room!
N. A.Good hostel with a very good mood between everyone. There is a lot of different community space . The terrace is nice and keep you warm with a roof . Clean and workers are very nice and helpful for everything. Also you have private car park for your car .

Good points:
-The staff was quite friendly, but in the final days, the whole ownership changed. The new staff are very young and kinda not very social. Like sometimes when you say hi they won't answer :))) but they are nice and helpful in total.
-The bathrooms were always clean.

-fair price
-well equipped kitchen
There were some problems:
-the bed sheets the gave u is not new and smelly. TG I bring my own!
-Ants Ants Ants, loads of ants in the kitchen. I could not leave my grocery out!
-furniture in the hall is dusty. Not very clean

D. g.Probably the best hostel in hobart overall, though the standard is quite low. The dorms are clean, though small and quite cramped. The bathrooms are not great, not big enough for the number of people. The kitchen was clean and fairly well organised, though a bit lacking in fridge space. Lacking a bit atmosphere, not much in the way social activities. The trip to mount wellington was not available when i was there as their driver was away.
S. S.The location is pretty good, within walking distance of the centre of Hobart. The room I was in had quite a few people in but it was somewhat divided which helps, although there was only one plug and the beds were very noisy. Also if appreciate a rearing light and a small area to put some things when I'm on the top bunk. The people who work there are very nice and the common areas are good. The WiFi didn't really reach my bed which was pretty annoying.
D. B.Staff are very knowledgable and super helpful. Patrons are quite well-behaved, good-natured folks. The hostel itself is clean (bathrooms included) and well-maintained... within a nice walk of things. At the time of writing, they provide breakfast cereal in the mornings, until 9:30. Baggage storage is available.
A. D.Hostel is in a great location with easy walking to anywhere in town and most tours picking you up at the door. Staff are so friendly and helpful, rooms are a good size and clean, large kitchen with all the cooking things you could need plus cupboard and fridge/freezer to store food.
Plus a free hire car, no catch just a deposit that gets returned and you pay to fill the tank after you use it.

M. K.Superb Place to be. Staff is extremely helpful and often go the extra mile to help you. Good amenities and a welcoming lounge where everyone can socialize.
Clean rooms and bathrooms. Huge kitchen so we don't have to queue and wait. Separate bbq station and entertainment area. Ping pong, Movie room, pool table. Secure Parking too. They also give free tours to Mt Wellington :)

P.Excellent service at the front desk, we were received with a big smile; the rooms are confortable and there is enough space in the common areas in general; also, the patrons I encountered were all really friendly and respectful. The location is quite good, in a very nice neighbourhood and walking distance from interesting spots to visit. In general, I reckon it is quite worth the price.
A. S.Everything was great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very clean and calm atmosphere. Pool table and Free car hire was a huge bonus. I could not hire a car as i do not have a valid licence but they offer a free car and you can sign up as a passenger! It was really nice to go see different places in Tasmania, especially when it is free. I also got to meet some really nice people to do the day trips with. I highly recommend booking at The Nook. I'll be back!
M. D.Reasonable price. Private town room was ok. Curtains too small for Windows so sunlight comes in early (Was in Decmeber). Noisy street also wakes you up. Very clean and excellent kitchen and lounge area. Staff are ok...one was a bit rude on our arrival.

There is no hairdryer in the showers but is available by request at the reception desk. Guests have to take out their linnens. Parking lot was crowded during my staying.

S. D.The rooms are clean, the service is good and there is a huge lounge area which is really nice. Close to the city. Only downsides are the WiFi can be spotty (but its free so I don't really mind) and the kitchen is not huge. It has some free parking which is great close to the city.
M. M.Have stayed at cleaner backpackers. Kitchen: has plenty of food storage, very little bench space, one kitchen tap. Bathrooms: are small, though bathrooms are on each level, hot water didn't get hot but was warm enough. Rooms: Simple and worn. Can hear floors squeak above and in the next room.
N. B.Good. Private rooms aren't loud, so if you get one you can shield yourself from the other hostel guests. Who I'm sure are lovely, but I'm too old for all that...
J. M.A decent, comfortable hostel. The commonroom was nice and comfy couches. Great wifi in the rooms and common areas. The rooms could use a few more powerpoints though, or perhaps shelves for the top bunks. The hostel is in a good location in the centre of Hobart.
R.I was already booked into another hostel for one night. After breakfast I was making my way to that hostel and stumbled upon The Nook. Initially I walked by but there was nice music playing and the guests were joking with the staff at reception. I stopped and thought...it won't hurt to look! So I went in, had a look and got chatting with the staff. They were so helpful and friendly, telling me all the things I can do and see and having a chat and a laugh. After thanking them for all the advice, literally on everything from places to eat, to places to see Tasmanian Devils eat that on my way out I decided to book in for all my remaining time in Hobart, including the night I already paid for in the other hostel.
It's a small to medium sized hostel, not crazy but very sociable, staff are absolute gold and I met some amazing people there. No problem recommending it at all
E. V. D.Nothing but positives here. From the moment I arrived to my departure. The staff.. I mean, I've honestly never had more informative and kind people in an accommodation or anywhere really. I dealt with 3 different receptionists and all of them were amazing. The hostel itself.. Clean, cosy and easy to use. Big, open common area, easy to use kitchen, clean bathrooms and comfy rooms.. what more could you want in a hostel? Oh wait.. FREE BREAKFAST CEREAL? They have it. The cleaners seem to be very efficient and observant as this place was always looking tidy. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you go to Hobart, do yourself a favor! Stay at The Nook!!!! Simple problems such a $10 small inappropriate heater in the coldest state of australia.
Lack of warm sheet in addiction to heater.
Bad blinds - An easy fix, would make all the difference to a better nights sleep.
Most annoying one - No WIFI. If it doesnt reach my room dont advertise wifi or include it in my fee.
Y. M.Very nice backpack, lovely receptionists ! Quiet place, very closed to the CBD (200m). Room are nice, bathroom and kitchen are cleaned every day. Staff is really nice. Wi-Fi is working good and the outside area is awesome. Come in and get nooked !
J. W.Chill hangout from it's noisier competitor down the road...pool table, drinks and a common room, beds were definitely more comfortable than next door as well. Basically if you want to meet great people in a relaxing atmosphere this is the place to go!

D. K.I don't usually write reviews but I stayed at the nook from fri - sun and had to! the actual place is about a five minute walk into the city and so close to salamanca - which after a night of Karaoke (they have it every friday I think?) , was really handy!
If you do stay - ask what free tours they have on and recommendations for bars+restaurants. best value for such a nice stay. The staff made all the difference to my trip and were so knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough

J. P.My fellow travelers were inconsiderate (making messes they didn't clean up, making noise late at night, deliberately waking up sleepers in the dorm rooms), but the place itself was good value, clean, centrally located, and comfy.
A. p.Internet was not working in the room. Everytime I need to come downstairs to access internet. On the day of the checkin, when I called in afternoon, I was told that, though they can see my booking, they could not see a room allocated in their internal sheet and they have taken couple of hours to confirm my booking on the day of checkin... They moved three beds in three days I stayed, I lost the key and they charged me 10$ for it... I may not choose this if I have a better option.

A complete home away from home, all of the staff are exceptional, go out of their way to make you feel at home and to try and assist you with anything they can. The best backpackers I have found and cannot recommend it enough! Thank you Jec, Hannah, Rachel, Nicoletta and Alex for being simply the best!
