A pub in a very convenient location. They only have pizza for their food menu but it is only $10! Staff are relaxed and there is a pool table, some small tables and chairs as well as booths to suit all sorts of gatherings. Light music, soft enough to be able to have conversations.

Stopped for a drink off the cuff, while passing-sat outside, very chilled and relaxed. Hubby went inside to order drinks, spotted a pool table so shall be back to have a few games. Staff were friendly, drinks were great-will definitely be back. On a side, they don’t do food, but sell packet chips if ya need a snack.

Stayed at the Exford over the Easter long weekend, choosing it because of the other reviews and the location. The hostel definitely lived up to the reviews and I was super happy. Right in the city meant plenty of places to eat as well as being close by to Melbourne International Comedy Festival venues (of which the Exford hosted a few shows which was great!). The rooms were clean and spacious, and pretty quiet given it was in the middle of the city and has a bar downstairs. On the topic of the bar, it was pretty darn good and had sports on TV if that's your vibe, beers not too expensive (get a discount when you stay there). Staff here are friendly and helpful.

We stumbled across the Exford randomly as we couldn't find anywhere to drink in the city on a Monday night. What a gem! Staff are really friendly and the atmosphere relaxed and non pretentious. There was loads of space upstairs where we could chill out on the couches, play on the free pool table and watch 90s hits on the big screen. Good priced drinks too. We'll be back for sure!

Was looking for a place to drink on a Thursday night, most places were full capacity but we stumbled across this gem which was surprisingly available. Old establishment with character, there were a wide variety of beers on tap and we settled for a jug of Four Pines Pale Ale for $25.60. Pretty reasonable and got ourselves a booth to sit and relax. Staff were very friendly and hospitable. Ordered a cocktail afterwards however it kinda missed the mark. Would definitely come back again.

Its long history of service to the drinkers of Melbourne.. It's not the best or the worst.. Right in the middle. That's a good thing. It's consistent and has out lasted most others for that reason.

Went here for a few drinks now that restrictions have eased. Staff is friendly, covid safe, names are written on paper and sanitiser available. Staff wore masks and they make sure the numbers are right per area. Staff were so lovely. Would recommend.

A double story hotel that has friendly customer service. A sports bar style bar down stairs with a pool table and good seating to watch sports on the big screen. Upstairs more upstyle, catering for that relaxing catch up and drinks. A good range of beers available. A separate bottle shop attached with a separate entrance. Definitely worth popping in when having a catch up friends when visiting the city.

Huge variety of drinks and alcohol, it's always good to have places like this who still have our favourite local beers on tap. Great location and the atmosphere is just on point. They've got live sports on most times. They have a l local bottle shop in the actual hotel which is a great benefit.

Exford Hotel is not only a hostel but it has also a cool bar, a smoker’s terrace and a liquor store. Accessible also for non-guests. The bar was one of my favourite spots when in Melbourne. Cool place to hang out till late night and meet locals, expats and other travellers.

This pub is heavy on the sports and TV vibration, I don't go here by choice, typically I am drawn in by Comedy Festival gigs or the bottle shop that is open a little later than most. Very reasonable drink prices and no frills authenticity make it a good meeting point for the hundreds or restaurants in the area.

Accidently stumbled across this bar on the way to dinner & i can say it was a great little bar with a fantastic footy vibe. $5 Stella Artois was just the cherry on top! Staff were great & service was fast paced. I will be back again!

I stayed at the Exford Hotel for two nights in a double room on the 3rd floor (top level) the room was an average size with a large cupboard, bed side tables, a mirror and a table and chair. The room was very clean. The staff were friendly. The bathrooms are dated but kept very clean. really good, cheap accommodation in the heart of the city. Noise could be a problem, but with our window closed wasn't too loud at all. On the Saturday night we actually fell asleep with the window open and were not woken up once. (we were really tired though) My advice would be to ask for a room on the top level if you think noise would be an issue. during the day, it's not bad at all. It was a warm weekend when we went and the room did not have air con but was not hot at all and we kept the curtains closed during the day. (30's outside) all in all good budget accommodation, great cleaning staff and general staff & would stay again.

How good is this pub ... a REAL pub in the heart of the city. The building itself along with the old school tables and bar stools makes this my number 1 drinking hole whenever I visit Melbourne. No McFurniture, no fancy downlighting, no pokies, no kale or seagrass cocktails... Please never change!

I stayed at the Exford for one night during November for the national quiz tournament held in Melbourne. The Exford provides what the cost suggests and more. Beds are comfortable with adequate cooking and shared spaces. Toilet and shower facilities provided with quality water pressure. There is a great bar on the ground level. Perhaps the one knock is the noise level at night on the streets of Melbourne. Of course, this also suggests and confirms how great the location is being in the heart of the CBD and walking distance to all methods of transport and CBD tourist sites. Would recommend and stay again.

Great location, super cheap and mostly friendly and accommodating staff. The beds were rather uncomfortable and had springs digging in everywhere and there was no aircon, and only a single wall fun clogged with dust meaning there was very little air being circulated in the room. Showers were a bit messy with hard to use sinks and little space to leave belongings and several tiles on the floor were broken or cracked. Discount at the bar and free toast, cereal and hot drink for brekky was a bonus but 9.15 breakfast cutoff was a bit lame.

Great accommodation. Lovely atmosphere downstairs in the bar, no elevator, but plenty of stairs to the rooms on the second and third floors. Floors are a bit creaky, causing some noise in the rooms adjencent to the hallways. But the rooms are properly equipped and the small bathrooms are good enough for a few days in the city if you're not willing to spend much money on a big hotel. Location is good. In the heart of China Town with great connections to all major attractions around the CBD. Note: It's called a Hotel, but consider it a hostel most of all.
