For those that, like me, hadn’t stayed at an Ibis Budget before, beware that Ibis Budget is a different segment when compared to Ibis - hence it is cheaper.
Unaware of the differences, I booked the standard room for me and a friend, which turned to be quite uncomfortable, especially for the shower situation.
Nonetheless, staff was super friendly and understanding and they allowed us to change into a new room which had a real bathroom. This completely changed my experience at Ibis Budget and I can recommend it 100%. Just beware that the standard room is not ideal for two people who aren’t a couple.
Breakfast was simple but very good and I cannot imagine a better location to stay in Melbourne, as it is in the heart of the CBD and near absolutely everything.

How great is it that you don't stay in hotel and still that hotel leaves a mark on you. During this time of covid an employee of hotel whose name is "Niluuan" helped me so much. I was not allowed into premises without getting a rapid test. He searched the information for me, helped me in suggesting other Ibis hotel and with cancellation. I am delighted to share this experience.

Nice location and easy access to transport. Very helpful staff. Room was both large and tight. Unfortunately they had decided to lay it out in a way which was not easy to use. The public area was being painted when I was there and the breakfast room was unavailable. It wasn't really worth having the breakfast special available when I was there as they supplied as a breakfast box. The selection in it was OK, but I didn't like anything in it myself. I ended up not collecting them after the first morning. I would stay again based on the price, location and convenience but might ask for a room without the alley as noise started early.

In the heart of CBD on Elizabeth Street. Just get down and you have a musical instruments store, a number of tram stations. Enjoy the CBD, the cafes & restaurants, the showrooms and shop.
The hotel staff is extremely helpful. The breakfast isn't great but good enough for the money they charge.

I'll start by saying, this was one of the best budget hotels we've stayed in!
As we walked in we could see they're in the midst of renovating, and it was a bit of an eyesore, however it's obvious their intention is to improve the facilities for their customers, which is great! Despite it being a bit of a construction site downstairs, we found the place was well signed and we got to reception and to our room with no dramas.
Meanwhile the staff were very professional, friendly and polite - I felt like I was being "welcomed home" - a great customer experience! And our room met our expectations also - it was cosy yet comfortable and workable for 2 people.
And some constructive feedback:
- A great addition to the room would be, if there was an iron and ironing board in the room. We brought our own iron and ironed what we needed to iron first on the flat and neatly-made bed before we used it.
- And if there could be "Do Not Disturb" signs to put on the doors, that'd be great. We went out for the day and when we came back, we noticed that room service must've come in and changed our towels, made our beds, and gave us new soap and milk in the fridge. We really appreciated that, however we weren't expecting that to happen, so we felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that room service had come in unexpectedly.
All in all, we were very happy with our stay and will definitely consider staying again! Thank you for the great customer service and experience, and looking forward to seeing the completed renovations :)

I've been staying with my sister for a fortnight. It's been like a temporary hone with such nice staff. Very helpful reception and cleaners do a wonderful job. It's great to come back having our bed made. Cozy beds. Free wifi and speedy. Don't worry if you stay for a few days and the internet stops. Just get another voucher code from reception. I would recommend this to anyone. Thanks so much to all the team.

The hotel is very basic and the rooms are small, that's no problem, it's what I expected. O didn't realise that check out would be so early at 10am.During check-in they kindly extended my stay by one hour allowing me to check out at 11 am - …

I loved the room with the twin beds; didn't mind it even though it was just me. It was clean and cosy with basic amenities but with the comfort of home. The thick curtains blocking out daylight and the relative silence offering peace and quiet was lovely. Also, its location in the heart of the CBD was key. If I come back to Melbourne, I would consider staying here again. A basic breakfast for an additional small charge was also ok. A great experience in all.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at this budget hotel for 10 nights. Perfect location with retail and restaurants literally at your doorstep, as well as a tram stop. Flinders St train station only is a couple of minutes walk. You really couldn't ask for a better location. Room was a good size with large window looking out onto Elizabeth St. A lot of people seemed to complain about the bathroom and toilet location. These were clearly shown in pictures on all websites advertising this hotel, so not sure why they complained about it, they didn't have to stay there. I didn't have a problem with either of these. These buildings are old characteristic buildings that appear well built and maintained, with one of the lifts being maintained during my visit. My room was serviced everyday and smelt fresh and clean as did the entire building. The house maids were superb and deserve a big thank you for doing such a great job and with a smile and super friendly. Now the bed and pillow, talk about the comfiest ever. I don't think I have ever slept that well. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming also. I really don't have anything negative to say. For a budget hotel, I give it 5/5. I really enjoyed my experience here and would definitely stay here on my next visit.

Wasn't expecting a lot for a budget style hotel, but I was blown away. The room did not seem like a budget room at all. The hotel had friendly checkin staff, and the room were quiet as, no noise could be heard.
The only downside is that no toiletries are supplied (I guess that what makes it budget) but also there is a kettle in the room, however the sink in the room, doesn't allow for the kettle to be filled up or even drink bottle. Had to use the shower to fill the kettle and drink bottles. The toilet had brown water marks all over the walls, with no attempt to clean them, which made the toilet feel kind of gross and dirty.
We also paid for breakfast, and it very basic, but I took advantage of the $1, so I can't complain.
Wifi was a bit annoying, as you had a 5Gb allowance that last two days. If you went through your 5Gb or the two days was up, you had to go down to the front desk and request a new code.
The hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the free tram zone, with two station next to it. Flinder street trains station 5 minutes down the road, and lots of shop and groceries very close by.

Decent hotel, centrally located and everything available at a stone throw distance. Staff is courteous, offers complimentary continental breakfast. The room size is small and just enough to accommodate one. Could have been little more spacious. A microwave and few dishes within the room can also help. Rest the 24x7 reception is always willing to help, great checkin experience and nice stay for 4 days.

We came in very late on a Tuesday and had some trouble with our door key. The desk staff was a very friendly and helpful guy from Pakistan. He replaced the battery on our lock quickly and efficiently, and also was pleasant to converse with about traveling and life. The room was nice and the bed was comfy. The curtains block out all of the light so we were able to sleep in after a late night out. We actually overslept but the morning staff was very lovely and friendly as well. After packing up and coming down to check out (late) we were still greeted with a smile and a kind offer for breakfast (that we missed). Phyu Phyu was so sweet to us it felt like being cared for by our mother back home. Such a warm, gentle and welcoming character with her and the awesome gentleman from the night before. Thank you so much for being so good to us. It really made our stay enjoyable and special.

This hotel is clean - yet compact - but has a terrific location. Set back from the street in a private entry. Tram stop at the front door - cafes and shops .5 km away. Taxi stand .5 km away. Lovely staff and good continental breakfast in the tariff. Good Wifi - Nice big TV - Easy access shower for a disabled person. Basic, clean and friendly and an ideal base.

Similarly priced to budget Airbnb's of equal location in Melbourne CBD with $1 breakfast's when booked via website ($9 otherwise). Breakfast is perfectly reasonable for the price with toast, cereal and pancakes available with juice, coffee and tea available to drink. From my interactions throughout my stay I'd say the service is also quite good and I never felt like I was imposing on staff or unwelcome.
The rooms themselves are quite small with the bathroom integral with the room, however they were clean. On the note of bathrooms, little is provided in the way of complimentary toiletries to use. Only bar soap is included so this should be kept in mind when choosing to stay here. There is also little in the way of beverages or snacks present in the bar fridge if that's something you mind. My stay was in Winter and we found the heater and reverse cycle air conditioning available in the rooms to be a godsend.
Some side notes, the lifts were being replaced during my stay and only one was available. This one lift seemed to be unreliable at times and we found that guests on our floor would often prefer to walk down the stairs than wait for the lift to return. I'm sure in a couple of months time this will be non issue though.
Overall I'd said a pleasant experience at this hotel and while there are some less desirable aspects they're forgivable in my mind given the cost. Would stay again if I was needing budget accommodation in the Melbourne CBD.

I really enjoyed My stay. Friendly helpful reception. Warm welcome On arrival. Room's very cosy and quaint. I left my phone charger and the reception was so kind to change My phone for me. Definitely if you just need a sleep this is great.
J. L.
Room was okay, with comfy bed, heating and cooling, and good size tv. However, it didn't have it's own toilet. There was one unisex, accessible toilet for the entire level as far as i could see. Room had sink and shower. Provided with kettle but unable to get it under the tap to fill. Staff were lovely. Overall not too bad for a short stay, but would call to check room amenities.
T. L.
Good location and when it says “budget” it means it. Disappointed with the rooms - tiny floor space and the bathroom is three feet from the bed with no walls or door to prevent the people in the office across the lane from seeing everything if you want the air conditioner on. Not sure what the deal was with the weird frosted window next to the door but it let light in all night and made it a little difficult to sleep. Understandable that there are renovations happening but reception is cramped and in the morning there is a jumble of people checking out, eating, chatting and struggling to move around bags. Overall not terrible for a budget hotel, especially considering it’s directly across from a tram stop and not even a two minute walk to Bourke St mall.
M. H.
The location is really great. It's on Elizabeth St, close to shops and public transport, and it's a short walk to a supermarket or Flinders St station. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. It can get quite humid due to no air flow, so the aircon needs to be on pretty much the whole time. The service is really great as well. Bao at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. The front desk workers are was smiling and ready to help you. Second time I've stayed and I'm not disappointed!
P. D.
This place is pretty much okay when considering cleanliness and basic amenities. Most of the rooms are pretty small even for a budget hotel. They introduced complimentary wi-fi. The best part is , it's close to tram stops in both Collins and Elizabeth street and there are multiple food joints close by including a Subway just downstairs.
C. L.
Such an amazing place. The hotel it beautifully presented. Definitely a new favourite. Loved the atmosphere, food was good. The staff were attentive and friendly both in reception and the wet deck. Would recommend to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle even if only for a few days.
A. L.
Generally was good. Location was superb, facilities was good. The staff on duty during our arrival was very accommodating and helpful. Only thing unfortunate was that the tv had problems on the 2nd to last night and the staff on duty did not have the necessary skills of a technician to solve the problem, so we had to change rooms, a smaller one with no wardrobe and view. I would go back but they need to get a technician on duty to solve these problems when they happen.
A. S. N.
Great place to stay if you are tight on funds. The place is easy to miss if you are not careful.
S. D.
The room was quite small, but we were only there for one night so it wasn't much of a problem. Very clean, and the bed was comfy. Large TV and a working heater which was great. Bathroom set up was a little odd, small box for the toilet and the shower had a sliding glass door but the 'room' it was in was just a curtain. Odd, but it got the job done. Convenient location and just right for one night.
I. W.
Prices were hiked up for Christmas and New Year's period. Making this stay less "worth it". The entrance to the hotel had an unpleasant smell. The toilets in the room had no fan, only a small hole which leads back into the room through the shower. Service is good, the receptionist was cheerful and happy to help. Daily room service to prepare the bed and old towels were replaced with fresh ones. However, there was no shampoo, conditioner or toothpaste.
J. H.
Tiny space with shower curtain to separate bathroom to main room. It was right next to the bed. Great if you want somewhere to sleep and nothing else. Continental breakfast with pancakes in communal room which has coffee machine. Staff absolutely lovely and helpful.

This Motel is located on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne..right in the heart of the city.
Restaurants, Bars, Nightclubs, Shopping District and Queen Victoria Market are all within walking distance. The location speaks for itself.
The rooms are spotless and come with the basic luxuries.
At $80 P/n and the privilege of being in the middle of it all...this place really is value for money.
I would recommend Ibis budget Melbourne.

Hi, This is a budget hotel but was better than I expected which does not happen often. Room was modern and clean, staff always friendly. Would stay again. They advertise breakfast for $2? if you book direct with them. It looks basic but you could not complain at that price.
L. W.
Fantastic very central location in the heart of Melbourne's CBD . friendly service 24hr reception .Washing and drying machines available 5 dollars per machine very useful.Paid extra for a room with a lounge seat on the 6th floor.Room was quiet and spacious bed was comfortable. Room attended to daily clean towels bed made ect. Also paid extra to include breakfast at the time of booking. On arrival the dining room was closed as the hotel is under current renovations. We were instead offered a breakfast box which was totally inadequate and not to our liking .To their credit they were happy to refund us when exchanged the unopened boxes. On the whole very happy with the accommodation.Next trip to Melbourne we will stay again.Good price great location.
V. S.
Location is good, smack in the middle of town. But it is a budget hotel so don't expect anymore than that. Bed is comfortable and has coffee and tea with small kettle. That's it! No shampoo just a bar of soap each with a towel every day.
P. B.
Great location. Front office service can be inconsistent. Some can be really good 5 star standard and some are just 2 star quality. This is a small budget hotel, so do not expect too much and you will be satisfied. The TV was large but hardly any toiletries (budget hotel remember). You can get decent sleep here despite being very close to the main street with trams passing daily. Within walking distance to Flinders train station and very near to Bourke Street Mall. You can take a free tram on Collins Street to Southern Cross Station for the Skybus. All in all a well located budget hotel. Good value if you just need a simple no frills stay.
E.
Nice modern rooms. Excellent location. Right outside a tram stop, a few minute walk to the main shopping centre. Decent beds. Nothing fancy, you get what you pay for.
It's a little hard to find when checking in as the entrance is a small halway next to a place called Betties Burgers. Other than is a pleasant stay for a solo travelers or small group of people on a budget.
T. S.
When you pay budget prices you get budget standard and that is fine, as long as it is clean, comfortable and convenient budget. Here you can't go past quality budget. Rooms are well sized, comfortable and we'll appointed (for the price) but the place is so conveniently located being central to everything. We got the $1 special Continental Breakfast which really is a fan deal. We will defs be back!!!! Why spend hundreds on a place to sleep for a few hours a night.
F. N.
Nice place, close to everything basically. Nice breakfast for $1.50 per person while u r staying in there. Little bit too small room for two. Polite and helpfull staff. Just no shampoo or conditioner provided but good overall.
B. P.
If you dont want to spend a lot on accomodation then this place is a good hotel to stay at. Centrally located to some good food and transportation. Just make sure you have your essentials and hair dryer etc as they dont provide those things.
The only annoying thing is that the rooms arent really sound proof so you can hear a lot of the people walking, talking etc in the corridors and you can even hear footsteps from the above floor
K. V.
Stayed at the Ibis budget hotel on Elizabeth Street. All the staff were absolutely amazingly friendly and helpful, fantastic service. The hotel room I stayed in I was very pleased with, it was clean, comfortable and cosy. The only reason I'm rating it four stars and not five is because I was abit cold and the little heater wasn't great at heating the whole room. Was basically standing over the heater trying to get warm. But my main problem was the hotel needs sound proof windows, most of the night I could hear people yelling and possibly fighting quite clearly from outside until I fell asleep around 2:30am. And then I woke up to the loud buzzing of a grinder or some kind of saw that construction workers were using outside near by. But beyond those two cons, I have nothing but positive things to say, especially towards the staff.
F. T.
Stayed here a couple of times and plan to do so into the future. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. My only gripe is that the beds are a tad too small (most are for me) and the air con at least is a bit lacklustre, I always end up getting really hot overnight.
l. m.
Just stayed there 4 nights suited us for a package deal with flights. Room was not large but big enough since we were gone in the morning and not back till night. The room was clean,as well as ensutie, bed comfortable towels changed each day, did not like the color of the bright yellow doors in the room. Staff friendly and very helpful, trams outside our door right in the heart of the CBD. The old railway station at the end of street and walking distance to Yarra river and eateries at Southbank.
C. S.
Very friendly staff, rooms have everything you need - comfy bed, bathroom, TV, coffee etc. Bed was remade everyday which was a surprise considering it's a budget motel. Super location!!. Breakkie was great. Will definately stay here again...
H. A. M.
Very basic hotel but I only paid $169 for 2 nights. Room layout is strange when it comes to the bathroom area. There is the shower cubicle and the hand basin with a curtain around it. There is a separate toilet. I stayed in room 707 so not sure how many other rooms are like this. Not bad for under $100 a night.
S. O.
Great location. Incredibly small rooms. If you’re a light sleeper though I don’t recommend it, the doors from all the rooms slam really loudly so you’ll be waking up constantly each morning despite the place generally being quiet otherwise
J. B.
Stayed here from 27-29 January 2019 in a queen room for the Big Bash. The room was quite small with no view and the toilet was very small. The location is awesome as it's only like a 5-10 min walk to Flinders St station. There's a tram stop (Collins St, stop 2) outside the hotel. Everything is close by and I would stay here again. Room cost $104 for 1st night and $74 for the 2nd night. You can get breakfast here for $9.00 P/P per day. I would highly recommend this place.
L. H.
The room was small but comfortable and had all the regular amenities. Staff were friendly. They are currently installing a second elevator to help with the congestion. Would recommend if your looking for something easy and comfortable.
R. C.
Lovely the location. Very central and the staff were great. It has free wifi and the room was clean. Bathroom is a little odd but for that price I don't mind. Would recommend to family, singles, couples, anyone really
M. R.
Budget by name, budget by delivery, could do better. Big rooms, horrible design, so-so value for money, not part of the Accor family.
It’s most obvious plus is its central location, it’s a walking distance from anywhere important in Melbourne.
The check-in process was annoying, I have booked the hotel online and I am a long time member of the Accor club, yet for some unfathomable reason I was asked for a photo ID. Seriously? Please get your act together and join the 21st century.
The room itself was surprisingly large but unfortunately its design leaves much to be improved. The toilet and the shower doors lead directly into the room and the bathroom sink is actually placed in the room itself – there is no separate bathroom. Taking into consideration just how big the room is, this design is very awkward and should be improved.
There was a gaping vent in the “bathroom” (the shower cubicle) which looked very dirty and its grate has fallen of a long time ago, resting peacefully on the wall dividing the toilet and the shower cubicle. Quite horrid maintenance really.
The window faces a lovely wall of another building and houses a rather antiquated looking AC unit – I’m glad I’ve visited Melbourne in winter so I didn’t have to try it.
The room and the hotel seemed clean but quite old. Contrasted to a very well maintained, very clean and seemingly very new ibis Budget in Singapore which I have just visited, this hotel look tired and dated.
The bed was very nice indeed and I got a decent night of sleep out of it.
As to the buffet breakfast (nominal value $9, I had it for free as a “bonus”) the less said the better. It was a miserly offering of a few slices of bread, some random spreads, a strange looking machine making wilted pancaked (somehow the machine made them fresh and yet aged them so badly they were nonedible as soon as they appeared), three cereals, two juices and milk. Paying for it seems like a terrible waste of money, one would get a better value (and better taste!) even from McDonald's. Avoid.
The hotel offers decent value for money but despite its “ibis” brand it does not seem to be a part of the Accor family as the membership card is not accepted. For a few dollars more one can stay in a “proper” Accor hotel. Overall I would not recommended this hotel unless for a very short, emergency stay.
T. M.
I don't think I have stayed in a smaller roomed hotel. People next door constantly slammed their door at all hours which rattled our bedroom wall where the bed head was attached to the wall. The staff were nice. Bourke Street is just 10 …
J. T.
Fairly basic room, but decent for what we paid for it and had everything we required for our quick trip to Melbourne. Only thing we would've liked that wasn't included in the room was an iron and ironing board but that wasn't a big deal.
Room was clean and everything was in good condition.
M. K.
Please provide a hair dryer in the rooms! Was provided last time I stayed here, but now I need to pay a deposit for access to one - a bit strange. Beyond that, beds surprisingly comfy and exactly as much space as I needed.
T. L. -. C.
Rooms provide strictly provide the essentials in terms of utilities (hence the term "budget") and are far from the quality you would expect from many other hotels in the area.
However, we were provided with excellent customer service from the friendly staff who were able to provide assistance before, during and after our stay.
Location of the hotel is also another bonus; right in the city's CBD, a short walk from the shopping centers,Chinatown, Federation Square, public transport, and food outlets.
Overall, very decent stay considering their price; would recommend to groups looking for a cheap place to stay short-term.
G. T.
Centrally located. Clean, tidy and quiet. Fresh bedlinen after only 2 nights! Woohoo! Amazing..Staff friendly and welcoming. Reno going on at ground level, and another lift.. Will stay here again. Great value..
T. B.
Spent 9 nights here. Very clean rooms. A great price for CBD. Staff are super friendly, rooms always clean. Definitely will be back.
Arshand and his staff are top notch.
P. T.
Just fine if you want to crash in a spot and plan to spend most of the time outside..Right in the market on Elizabeth street..Lots of places to eat or shop around..very near to tram station also!! It's good if you are on a budget. The bed is comfortable!😁
I. W.
Good place if you want to use the room to just relax and rest while going around places through the city. Room and toilet a bit small. Breakfast is good and the staffs are nice.
E. T.
Stayed here for a few nights and it’s good for short stays. There’s no need to worry about food as all around this building are supermarkets and a lot of small food stalls. Walking distance to the city tram and main CBD. Staff are very courteous as well.
K. A.
Will be better once both lifts are working and renovated. Main light didn't appear to have a switch in my room, and the shower is literally in the corner of the room but I can't it on a special deal so can't complain too much. I think I'd be disappointed if I'd paid the price to be honest.
K. B.
Nice place to put up in the heart of Melbourne CBD for a short while...recommended if you are low on budget...service and reception are really nice, helpful and accomodating. It is on the busy Elizabeth Street and almost at the intersection of the Elizabeth and Collins Street. Location is excellent.
B.
Fantastic service and very clean. Will look after no matter what odd hour in the morning you arrive. The manager Andrew is an absolute champion who goes out of his way and above and beyond to help. He was very efficient in organising a car for me to use in Melbourne amongst other things. His staff and him always gladly assisted with a smile and enthusiasm
J. A. P. (.
At first, we were expecting the rooms to be just like the photos on the website. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The hotel is a simple backpackers hotel, but for a family of 4, its not feasible. The bathroom and toilets were too cramped to be deemed comfortable, and the TV remote doesn't work. It's not senior citizen friendly, so I would only recommend this hotel to young tourists coming to Melbourne.
Location is perfectly situated on Elizabeth Street, where its at the heart of the CBD. Easy access to trams, chemists and supermarkets make this hotel strategically placed.
T. M.
Location is great. It's ideal if you are visiting the Melbourne CBD for a day for an exam or work/business and want a basic hotel room to crash in after a hectic day. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Worth what you pay for. Great choice for those on a tight budget wanting to stay central.
A. T.
Very noisy! The walls and Windows are paper thin. But for the price and location it's very good. Check in staff was helpful and friendly, clean rooms. I stayed overnight on Sunday 26th June 2016.
N. M.
3 of us stayed in one room. It was very little space. But it served our purpose for 1 night stay. We were allowed to use the microwave and kitchen that was good. The girl at the desk was very helpful.
B.
When I come for a short stay in Melbourne this is usually my go-to place. The prices are cheap and the rooms have all basic necessities that you could ask for.
Their small rooms have comfy beds with fresh sheets, a TV, air conditioning, shower and a toilet. There's not much else, so it's perfect if you just need somewhere to spend the night while you're out doing things in the day in the CBD.
Location is great too, you're only a short walk away from shopping districts, cafes and restaurants and plenty more.
J. H.
Dirty and dated. Really takes "budget" to a new level. I've stayed in hostels better maintained than this place for a fraction the cost. The staff is wonderfully polite at least.
S. T.
Clean and comfortable for a hotel in the budget range. The biggest plus point is the location of the hotel : smack in the middle of the city. Many of Melbourne city's major landmarks are within 5 to 15 minutes' walk away from the hotel. Family friendly with no unsavoury encounters during my family's stay there
H. R.
Competitively priced hotel. Great location. Room was clean and although not luxurious had everything you could want.
J. N.
Rooms where small, breakfast is a very small variety. Tramstop outside the hotel was noisy in the morning. However, very central, good value and clean.
J. P.
The ibis budget is a pretty good hotel. It is located in an excellent location in the heart of Melbourne. There are plenty of dining options around and most of Melbourne's sites are within walking distance. The rooms are a little bit on the small side but hopefully you won't be spending too much time in it because there is so much to do in the city.
T. M.
The Ibis Budget is located in the heart of Melbourne. Very central location with subway next door for breakfast. In CBD with trams out front and train nearby. The TV on the wall is great and big though the standby light in front of your bed is like a night light. Very clean room.
M. Z. J.
Went to Ibis around 11pm to meet some one who was staying there. neat proper rooms. spacious, clean. tried coffee, Green tea, Hot chocolate. was nice.
P. C.
Of all the IBIS Budget hotels, this one is the best one. No open windows and can be very loud on friday/saturday nights when all the drunks roll through. Other than that its actually quite nice.
T. M.
Booked this hotel due to affordable tariff and central location in Melbourne. Free trams are right infront of the hotel. Perfect for someone who wants to be right in the middle of all the action Melbourne has to offer but only needs a place to rest their head at night.
J. “. E.
Great price for location, The room has everything you need for a couple of nights stay. Comfy beds and has a pancake machine in the dining area downstairs.
R. L.
Good location in CBD, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Good and friendly service but rooms are small for the price. No separate bathroom area for a 2 person room.
A. F.
About what you'd expect for a budget spot. Location is great but the smoke detector went off randomly several times and they won't wash the sheets even if you stay for eight days and you wake up with a bloody nose.
D. H.
If you only want a basic room you can't go past the Ibis budget hotel. Very helpful staff. Free WiFi, loved our stay.
B. V. D. K.
Wonderful staff very helpful and caring. Clean rooms lively beds. Breakfasts nice add on rooms with breakfast well price
e. j.
Location was great in the CBD. The hotel was old with parking costs 25$ per night. Reasonable price to have a
G. H.
Good for a budget hotel. Walking in I was a bit worried the common area and the reception area don't look like much but the room was very modern, clean, spacious and comfortable.
M. “. B.
Great Central location. Airconditioner is not the greatest and a lack of powerpoints for charging multiple devices. Rooms are clean if soartan. Bathroom is functional but basic.
T. 9.
Not bad. The room was small but good enough for just sleep and prepare for trip. The location is perfect.
B. D.
Nice manager and all round good customer service from everyone, very good value, usually very cheap. And the rooms are always very clean, also site in a very nice location. Very central especially if you’re not from Melbourne
D. S.
Stayed at ibis cbd for the weekend the staff were very friendly and helpful rooms are clean and tidy. And a very big thank you to Andrew the general manager for your help and patience will definitely stay here again

It was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and comfortable. It was the best place to stay for someone who was new to Melbourne as it is located in the heart of the city.
S. V.
Excellent location in the CBD on the junction of Elizabeth Street and Collins Street. Less than 5 mins walk to Flinders Station. Tram stop just outside hotel. Comfortable budget stay.
R. M.
Clean, but the room smells a bit. If you take the time to look and book in advance, you could get a four star hotel at the same price.
N. T.
Room was tidy and comfortable. Convenient location. Friendly staff. Basic amenities but ok for a short stay.
L. K. W.
The hotel provides massive tv for tv fans but please do not expect high quality facilities other than the TV. I enjoyed the World Cup 2018 in the hotel so much!
A. D. E.
The hotel is ok, location is good, tidy and clean but the pillows are hard. The window's glass is frosty so can't see the outside at all.
S. H.
Great friendly and helpful staff, rooms a wee bit dated but clean and fantastic location, excellent value for money and a comfy bed with good pillows and linen, recommend to all budget conscious travellers.
s. p.
Pros:
-Hotel is in a great location with short walking distance to everything
- huge tv for a hotel room
- fairly modern
- Front counter staff members are all lovely
Cons:
-Incredibly small rooms shower is actually in the room
- no hairdryer, flannels, phone, tissues
- toilet room is way to small for anyone over 5'9
- walls are quite marked and look dirty
- shower cant make up its mind if it is hot or cold
Overall I would happily stay here again and plan to if only for 1 night anymore and I would spend the extra for some creature comforts
I. S.
A good hotel for budget travellers. Great location in the CBD. My room was located at the rear of the building, which was quieter but had weaker wifi signals.
b.
Very comfy no noise, I had booked for one night but happily ended up booking an extra night thanks to the receptionist. I will definitely be back.
T. M.
It's in a perfect location for visitors, a short walk from all the central Melbourne attractions and a couple of stops by tram from the central station. Main reason for my recommendation is due to the location and access from the city. Free …
J.
Stayed for 3 nights to attend a wedding. Very good location, value for money and clean. Not the best security and looks like it's under renovation.
c. m.
Clean and neat. Had everything I need to make my stay comfortable. Good central location. Staff courteous and helpful.
D. A.
Excellent location near corner of Elizabeth and Collins street. Room was very clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities. For the price, one of the best hotels available.
C. G.
After a concert night on Friday @ Melbourne Arena,I was soooo sore after jumping around 😂 Got to the IBM, had a shower and slept like a baby.. Waking up the next morning feeling refreshed like it was a brand new working week though it was Saturday 😁🤘😎
Loved my stay there and will stay again!
W. M. B.
Very good hotel, central located, and tram stop just right in front of the hotel. Staff also great. It's like a 5 stars service
B. H.
Location was excellent, room was what I expected for the price. Air-conditioning worked extremely well. However I was annoyed I had to make my own bed
D. P.
Small room for me but room is spotless. Plenty outlets for computer and cell phone charging. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Great location in the center of Melbourne
P. B.
Rooms are small but clean. I couldn't get internet on Wi-FI in my room. Low price and fairly convenient location.
V. J.
stayed there June 4 .... if you're on a budget the Ibis is a great place cos all you need is a place to rest and sleep as you spend most the time exploring the city and the staff are wonderful we will be booking in there every school holidays for a weekend retreat from the burbs ....
F. F.
Excellent central location and good price, but poor breackfast (price is only 1 dollar) and narrow room. Kind and pleasant people at reception.
R. G.
Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast. Rooms a bit small, no table or chair.
M. D.
OK its a budget hotel, but the rooms are clean, the continental breakfast is quite acceptable and the location is very central but most of all the staff are fantastic
Z. Z.
Located within free tram zone. Friendly staff. Room size a bit smaller than you would expect, but clean and tidy.
S. B.
Small travelers hotel. Don't buy the breakfast unless you like cold cereal, instant coffee, and plastic wrapped pastry. Lots of other delicious options near the hotel.
C. v. C.
Rooms are small but you aren't paying the same price as the Intercontinental now are you? Elevators can be very slow, like 3-5 minute wait, and if it's full then you're stuffed. Take the stairs and work off that Bettys Burger from downstairs you just are.
J. E.
Helpful, efficient staff. Clean, comfortable room. Great location. Nothing special but exceeds expectations given the price.
G. V.
Its okay, the room is small. Clean and comfy. Don't expect much for the budget.
N. &. D.
Best location close to tram, train and Southern Cross. Room well suited within our budget and staff friendly, very helpful.
r. T.
I stayed recently for 2 nights the bed was amazingly comfortable !! The TV was huge all in all a pleasant stay :) staff were nice I recommend it ,! Robyn
J. T.
Location was great. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Room was cosy but not cramped and clean.
W. K.
Perfectly serviceable for short stays. Friendly staff and convenient location more than makes up for small rooms.
P. D.
Comfy bed lifts a pain1 stopped working. Staff stole from us but wasn't worthwhile chasing it up so take valuables with you as we did after we discovered the theft.
G. M.
Might be budget by quite comfortable and only needed a bed for a few hours. Great staff and hospitality.
A. W.
Decent for the price - don’t have high expectations. Right in the middle of the city, clean and tidy. Breakfast is basic but does the job.
K. R.
It's alright. I hate it when they hold money on your card. $100 deposit is way too much, people wanting a budget accommodation can't afford to lose $100 for a week!
B. K.
A very nice budget hotel with very professional staff who are extremely hospitable and kind to everyone. The GM Mr. Ashan is thorough professional.
D. G.
Clean. Cheap. You get what you pay for and you didn't come to Melbourne to stay indoors. Good option for tourists and visitors.
V. S.
Small rooms but very good for the price. The breakfast is a great deal too
A. Y.
Clean. Strategy location but no negotiable I'd check out late. Fine Aussie 20 for late checkout 30 minutes. So overall very very bad.
W. C.
Great room, nice and central to all tourist attractions. Fantastic lady on the service desk.
S. D.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It catered for what I needed and did not dissapoint me.Everything I needed was in the room which included a tv,jug and fridge. It was not noisy considering where the location is.Staff were friendly and helpful, housekeeping was done everyday.Overall I have no complaints and would not hesitate to stay here again
M. S. S.
I like this hotel..no negative comment..the room is okay..clean..comfortable..staff ok..friendly..opposite the tram station..i stayed at this hotel from 19th september 2015 - 24th september 2015..
G. P.
Service is good trying to help with getting our correct room from day 1. Great rooms, spacious, nice location with everything outside the building.
F. d. V.
Clean room with comfortable bed for very reasonable room rate. Some construction going on and rather noisy outside the hotel.
A. L.
Clean, comfortable room. Great location. Nothing special but exceeds expectations given the price.
M. J.
Nice clean and affordable hotel with a good location. They have a coin operated laundry which is very handy...
D. K.
It is OK to spend few nights, I would say max 3 or 4. Room was clean and quite. The only complain which we might have is a very poor breakfast. On the other hand it is extremely cheap so you cannot expect much.
a. c.
I'm not stay yet in this hotel but I'll in this december 2015.all I can say about this hotel budget is good when I see the picture of this hotel room is clean and beautiful.the price is reasonable and people can afford it.I just hope that the stuff of this hotel will give a good service and the room is more than I expected:)
R. T.
We had a standard room for 2 it was ideal for our 3 night stay and was conveniently close to the things we had planned to do.
C. G.
Excellent location, right by many shops and train station. Very small but nice rooms with just the essentials
M.
Cheap rates for a motel in Melbourne CBD, great location close to the trams and Southern Cross station. Sound insulation is poor though.
M. D.
Good location and the bed was comfy. It felt a bit grubby though so it could be a bit cleaner
A. W.
Comfy beds, well located in the cbd, friendly staff and good price. I've stayed here twice and haven't been disappointed
L. C.
Upgraded to a royal suite(?) for $20! It was a lot bigger, the tv was massive and I got used to the bathroom door being a shower curtain!
辰.
A bit old but still acceptably clean. Extremely convenient location helped me a lot. Staff are friendly as well.
P. M. F.
Very well located close to great food (Betty's Burgers & Concrete Co.) and public transport at your doorstep. Eat sleep and have a great time!
C. L.
Service was friendly and helpful. Rooms very basic but nothing wrong with them and price was good.
v. s.
It's at nice location and a clean hotel. Just felt that they should provide water bottle at room.
J. M.
Close to the city centre. Comfortable clen room great bed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good rates.
W. T.
Super friendly and accomodating staff. Rooms are excellent, clean and very value for money.
Z. B.
Nice customer service BUT tv not working , oily fingers on bed head , and one reading light works. But the rest is good
A. H.
Great position in the city, friendly staff,
Small room but nothing wrong with it.
Would stay again.
O. G.
Budget indeed! But you get what you pay for. Bit of a funky smell in the hallways, but all in all gets the job done. If you just need a bed, this is the place.
T. M.
Got shaking sound from unknown source.Feedback to the staffs on the next day, got improvement after that. Can hear the sound made from next room.Very dark the room.Nothing is provided, only towel abd soap.
P. O.

Very basic. But everything you need. Clean. Make your own bed. Central location. Would go again.
v. k.
Great place to stay, located in the heart of the city with transportation at the doorsteps, extremely happy with the hospitality of the staff ibis.
Thank you.
T. B.
Basic but nice. Ideally located, bathroom setup was a little cramped but for that location at that price it was good value.
k. m.
Was reasonable price but rooms are very small. Reception service was good
A. N.
Staffs is super friendly. Room is neat and comfy. Near tram station.
W. D.
Loved staying here . So central to everything. Highly recommend. It's so clean. Very important
B.
Price is cheap and location is very central. Rooms are just like any ibis budget across the country - basic but clean.
K. G.
Lovely, helpful and informative staff. Decent brekkie and room is everything you need!
S. D.
Good room for a great price. Nothing too fancy but is clean and a place to stay
G. V. D.
It is a no frills hotel, which is what you pay for. However having an elevator down on the week-end of the Formula 1 Australian GP is an issue
C. X.
Great place to stay!
Not to expensive, friendly stuff and a perfect location right in the middle of Melbourne.
M. B.
As a budget hotel ok but not ok that I had to kill a cockroach in the shower. No view from the room except to service installations.
K. C.
Asking when do you get deposit back still waiting was wedsday night we book in lady told me one day am only on a pension and $100 is a lot to me .

About what you'd expect for a budget spot. Location is great but the smoke detector went off randomly several times and they won't wash the sheets even if you stay for eight days and you wake up with a bloody nose.
N. M.
Great location, easy access and everything you want in a budget room
C. B.
