Wow! Andrew at reception was so amazing, he had remembered my partner and I the first time we had come in 2021! Even though it was a very brief moment he was able to remember the details of our encounter! And the second time we came in for anniversary Andrew was there again with a very warm and accommodating smile ! Thank you Andrew - I would recommend you get a raise hehe 👍🏼🌟

Compact but clean studio apartment that had everything we needed. Well appointed kitchen and comfortable bed and lounge area. The location is fantastic with trams and trains very close by. We were disappointed that we were not allowed to use the pool.

great location with plenty of trams to access various places.. made a booking thru booking.com and didn't notice that mine excluded house keeping.. which sucks because i paid a decent amount of money. look at your fine print carefully!

Had two enjoyable one week stays here over New Years and then again during January.
The room types that I chose were Studio Executive for one stay, and Studio Executive - High Floor for the other. I chose these rooms as I understand that the cheaper standard studio rooms are internal facing and are dark as a result.
The check in experience was pretty standard. One one stay I arrived ahead of check in time, however, my room was ready and I was allowed to check in early which was nice.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. I appreciated the large drawers for storing clothes as well as a wardrobe for hanging larger items. I also appreciated how the Air conditioning was already on when arriving to the room - this was a relief on a hot Melbourne day.
Rooms are equipped with a kitchen which includes a stove top, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. I did notice how in one room there was no teaspoons and only one glass (the other room had a complete set).
An annoyance in both room types are the TVs. They were very slow and unresponsive to use. I gave up trying to use them and put something on my laptop instead.
The bathrooms in this hotel could be described as "glass boxes" which is fine as it maximises the room space and allows light into the bathroom. This was suitable for me as a solo traveller, however if you are staying here as friends, keep in mind there is only a sliding glass door between the bedroom and bathroom area so any noises could travel through from the bathroom to the room. The shower pressure was just okay, it could have been better.
Location couldn't be better, being located on Collins st which has Trams running along it as well as being close to Southern Cross Station. The location was one of the reasons that I chose to stay here again.
Overall I found that this is a nice, well equiped hotel for the price you pay. The location is good and the room was comfortable. As a solo traveler, I will stay here again when I am in Melbourne.

Great place to stay not expensive but room was a little small and with discount parking next door .

This review is based on a recent visit to see a long-term resident here. I'm not sure if all the rooms are like this, but the one I saw was in need of refurbishment - furnishings, styling, bathroom. The carpet also appeared damp, sticky, and tacky in places. General room/floor appearance gives a worn outdated feel, all the way from the elevator to the room.

There were some disappointments on arrival ie carparking. The pool was unavailable and we were sent to a nearby hotel to use there's. The balcony was only just wide enough for a chair.Their wifi was down. The fridge didn't work.
However staff were pleasant and helpful. They changed my room which was much better, and parking price was drastically reduced due to the issues. Even received a bottle of wine to enjoy as it was my wedding anniversary.

Andrew at the front desk had amazing service and great deals for my friends and I. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay at Melbourne

Great value at the moment for long stays. Hard to find a better deal but the hotel is so empty and quite that it feels almost eerie! But the room is great, and for the price I am paying at the moment, I dont think i can find anywhere better.

After a bad experience at another hotel upon my arrival in Melbourne, I showed up to Oaks on Collins completely unannounced after 6pm and was able to easily immediately book a room for the week.
The staff were wonderfully helpful and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard and supplied me with a kitchen, comfy as double bed, large closet and convenient bathroom and balcony. They also supply recycled tiny shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as clean towels and a hair dryer. The location is also fantastic
It is definitely worth every dollar booking with a hotel that has a higher star rating as it offers you a stress free peace of mind vacation. I will definitely be coming back
P. B.
Even though the room was prepaid with a card on file, (work trip), they still charged my personal account.
The lights in the room kept flashing badly too.
It's a shame that there was no offer to help with luggage when I had to carry it up stairs and I couldn't walk properly as it was.
Other than that, a comfortable room.
L. F.
The Oaks was okay, there were some cleanliness problems with the room and I had an electric scooter stolen from the bike bay. Unfortunately I was only informed later on that they had a more secure room for that which I could have used, I only wish they told me before hand when I explicitly asked them. Decent value though, I’d strongly suggest booking through their own website as it’s generally cheaper.

Good COVID-19 protocols in public areas. Room was spacious and clean. Well equipped kitchenette. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning works well. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Room 1716 overlooks a laneway and 3rd Floor Plunge pool. Very limited breakfast options.
G. F.
Close to transport, professional staff. All of the amenities provided in the apartment. Good value. Some lovely heritage buildings over the road!
S. L. O.
Gym and pool closure was not advertised, and as Covid restrictions are almost all gone we thought they would be open. So that was a shame as that was the main reason I picked this specific hotel. Car park is hard to navigate as it's a very tight space, $35 (with the hotel discount, $70 without) every time you leave the car park so be aware of that. Staff were very polite and friendly, and the room was quite nice. For the price it was definitely worth it, we were just bummed about the things mentioned above
E. G.
Stayed on the roof top apartment, I expected better from a so called rooftop apartment, carpet was frayed, place had a funny smell, shower was tiny, no daily room service (im assuming Covid),just seemed old and dated and worst part, you catch the lift to the 18th floor and then walk two flights of stairs to the 19th floor.
The front of house were good,
The cafes inside the oaks, terrible
2.5 stars

Between 3 and 4 stars. Maintenance is top priority for this hotel. The shower has no power. Breakfast is a good spread. Rooms are big and I had a balcony too. Whatever amenities one needs is provided in the room. Plus a small kitchenette with a wash basin. The bath in fact has a very very very small basin, so small that I could not wash my hands and face without water splashing on my clothes. And no rack for towels. The housekeeping would leave the towels, bathmat and napkins on my bed as there was no provision in the bathroom to place them. Location is convenient.
K. A.
As a 4 star hotel I was disappointed. First room had a broken pipe on the hand basin so we were moved to another room but unable to use broken dish-washer. Had a broken chair and no balcony. Rather disappointed considering what we paid..
J. P.
Ideal location close to trams and everything else you need. Cleaners go above and beyond to ensure everything is as it should be. Rooms reasonably priced and with all the mod cons.
M. B.
The room was nice, but the bathroom was too small. The shower was small and basically wet up the bathroom because the divider from the shower was barely an inch tall. The staff was very nice. They allowed us to store our luggage for a few hours before we headed to our next destination. They also gave us an extra hour to checkout. Also just a note, you have to drag luggage up steps because the entrance has no ramp for transporting luggage to the elevators.
R. G.
Rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are very friendly, unfortunately the room I had was not that great, it was an internal room with no windows and a continuous humming noise (I think from the ventilation), it was so bad I had to go out and buy ear plugs. Also the water pressure is really low so you struggle to have a decent shower, constantly having to adjust the hot and cold taps.
D. T.
My friend is staying there just the guy at front desk is a bit rude need a reality check
D. A.
This stay was one of mixed results in relation to this hotel.Grimy and moldy in the bathroom(I took photos and showed staff) but a least the shower curtain (really a shower curtain how very 1979) was clean. This room/apartment could sleep 4 but not practically. No vents or bathroom fan topped off the negatives. The upside to this joint was its location and price which dragged up its star rating. Finally every staff member I had interactions with were friendly and very helpful.
T. A.
Very convenient to CBD nice room with balcony pool sauna. Staff is very helpful and kind specially Kushil. Value for money diffinately come back
K. D.
Good hotel and all the facilities were good. Buffet breakfast was reasonable and dinner deal was quit good. Room I got was reasonable and all the amenities was good. Would like some more complimentary drinks on arrival for thirsty days. Hotel is located in very convenient location. Will come back again.
C. M.
Customer service was excellent. We were "upgraded". Didn't seem like we actually received an upgrade... Pool seemed a little sad. The breakfast in the morning was not too bad, it was the standard food. Those little chocolate donuts were delicious.
C. J. S.
The location was good, but the other gym swimming pool was below expectations. The breakfast buffet was quite simple.
There were also windowsless rooms, and I would prefer not to sign Royalty customers.

My house burnt down in January this year and couched surfed till may then I was lucky enough to be house in a hotel in essendon then now at the oaks on Collins street city. Lovely hotel with great staff friendly and very helpful. Location is the best all over a great place...
M. D.
Excellent comfy room, with large king size bed with all the amenities, only negative thing I'd say is the bathroom is very very small. Food from room service very average and arrived cold, and did not enjoy at all. Best to eat out at the many restaurants and pubs within walking distance or tram right out front. Overall was happy with my stay.
P. F.
Just checked in to my room and first impressions are that it's quite nice. The room was clean, bed and kitchen well presented. Nice couch and table setting. The TV is a little small but not really here for that. It's got a small reverse cycle air con which is good. The bathroom area is quite small and I'm a big tall guy so a bit inconvenient. The check-in process was smooth and buffet breakfast is only $17 which is quite cheap. Overall pretty happy.
C. M.
The room was clean and had everything we needed for a short 3 day stay. Bed was comfy. We stayed on the 18th floor and it was very quiet. Good location, very easy to get to from Southern Cross Station. The area near the bottom of the elevators smelt a bit like curry.
This morning we were due to check out and there was absolutely no hot water. According to one staff member we bumped into the entire building didn’t have any hot water and this wasn’t the first time it had happened. No estimated time as to when it would of been back on but they were hoping it would be sometime today.. not a great feeling when all you want is a nice hot shower before heading to the airport to catch a flight.
If it weren’t for the hot after issue I would stay here again.
Reasonably priced!
D. D.
Spent 7 nights here. The reception staff were always really helpful and friendly.
The room was nice. It was spacious, had a dishwasher, fridge and ensuite.
Didn't try the food on premises but the location is so good, you have everything you could want in walking distance.
Would recommend Oaks on Collins to anyone.
J. C.
Oaks is central, the room was smart and clean and for the money well appointed. We had breakfast at the hotel and was enjoyable with a well stocked buffet. The car park below couldn't find our car but that was just taken with a bit fun. So I would recommend it to anyone.
P. B.
Room was nice, modern, clean (though the dishwasher not draining properly was a bit if a pain). Location made trips around the city and surrounds very easy.
Y. C.
Good price and reasonable location. The room i had was large and had a couch/lounge area. However the bathroom was very small and felt like it was just a big closet. But it was reasonably priced and clean.
N. K.
Our stay wasn't to bad security at front are great very helpful and friendly. Food in there restaurant was disgraceful paid 26 for a buttered chicken got 5 cube pieces of chicken and was cold as .
D. M.
Room was a bit old (older fittings, bathroom etc) but was otherwise awesome. Really big, and high ceilings so didn't feel claustrophobic, decent kitchenette. Only had one meal via room service but it was excellent. Good service too.
B. 8.
Large rooms, no fuss and good service.
Located in central Melbourne, the Oaks is a pleasant place to stay with generous rooms. While not overly dazzling, the hotel is good for business trips and for location.
My only real qualm was the position of the toilet in the room. It was quite close to the bed and this would not be overly comfortable for more than one person.
However that’s a minor thing and overall it was an enjoyable stay.
M. d. M.
Quirky rooms with a tiny bathroom. Great for price. Only down side was the shower...shocking water pressure and whoever decided to put shiny large tiles on the floor was just stupid. Once soap is used it becomes a slippery sloping floor. Nearly went over a couple of times. Disaster waiting to happen.
S. S.
Reception staff helpful and courteous. Room was comfortable. Had everything I needed. There were no blinds on the windows (other rooms I have stayed in at Oaks have had them) so I was woken early by daylight. It was quiet. Breakfast was excellent
B. A.
Fairly cheap what-you-see-is-what-you-get hotel on a reasonably practical - not beautiful or interesting - location in Melbourne. Decor is uninspired, and the place is a bit worn. In my room, the shelve below the bathroom mirror had fallen off, and noone had bothered to fix it. It was cheap though, and the manager was very kind to let me into a room early when I needed it. Very standard breakfast with a lot of upselling going on. Not a place where you can entertain your business associations or private guests, but one that gets the job done. Use if you are alone for a few days working and won't be there much.
M. M.
Bathroom was pretty poor and if the light was turned on in the bathroom, because the walls were patterned glass, the entire studio was lit up like daylight. So don't dare go to the bathroom at 3.00am! Also access was difficult with suitcases as there were steps.
P. O.
Rooms were tidy and quiet. Great service from reception. Only real downsides were that the towels weren't replaced despite staying there for 3 nights, no toothpaste in the room and the showers pressure wasn't great but aside from those small things, I had a great stay here and an awesome time in Melbourne. The hotel is very close to everything and is near the free tram zone which is even better.
J. B.
Location is very good if you’re in the CBD, but I thought the bathroom was the wardrobe! Very tiny sink and the showerhead is pretty much a hosepipe. Still had a comfortable bed there is a fridge in the room and a microwave and it is very reasonably priced.
Y. L.
Clean and pleasant experience.
Hotel was a large studio room (probably 40 sqm) rather than the typical 30 sqm rooms you usually get.
K. D.
Shower pressure was not amazing, but the staff are friendly and helpful, room was clean, bed was comfortable and the location was excellent.
W. P.
Stayed here for a conference nearby with work. Easy, friendly staff at reception. Clean room. What I expected and they were able to accommodate a room on a quiet floor. Small TV in room but comfortable and did the job.
L. S.
Really enjoyed our stay here on our short holiday, room was simple but comfortable with some basic room amenities. It was comfortable enough for us though. Breakfast available at the local cafe was amazing with a huge honey comb to serve from, something I've never seen anywhere else
G. C.
Very comfortable hotel apartment. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Cosmos apartment which comfortably slept four. The rooms were spotlessly clean and contained a complete kitchen (including dishwasher). The staff and reception were friendly and accommodating. Parking is expensive though, despite the discount for guests, but not outrageous for the location.
t.
The staff were good and tried their best in an average hotel that felt like an ex uni dorm conversion. From the weird tacked-on mini bathroom to lack of room service (no breakfast to room) I only recommend staying here when you're not on business (casual visit to Melbourne ok) as if you need to squeeze as much rest as possible between long days you won't get room breakfast, shirts pressed, room service for a snack after 9.45pm oh and the damn minibar was empty so no late night kitkat when you get back from the office.
R. P.
Very warm staff. Rooms are spacious and well done. Bath space is a bit tight but just enough. Felt like a studio apartment of my own 😊 the Tenth floor had some traffic noise.
R. S.
Very cute rooftop room, up 2 flights of stairs and the room STUNK, just because it was all locked up but not good.
Was given a discount, but still.
B. H.
The room was quite cosy, had everything that I required for my stay, will definitely be stopping there again.
J. C.
Amazing rooms, I liked staying here; though there was some loud siren ringing outside at night and I got super paranoid, packed my bag ready to get the hell out of there. Eventually passed out due to being super tired.
S.
The standard room was a spacious 1 bedroom apartment style room with a kitchenette (inductive cook top, range hood, single draw dishwasher, microwave) and cutlery. The toilet bathroom was a glass enclosure with sliding doors. Three chairs a couch and pull out dining table completed the furniture arrangement. A standard selection of about 50 tv channels was provided. The apartments on the Collins Street side look over a nice historic sandstone building. Staff friendly. Wifi was available free for a short time but after that it appeared that a fairly stiff fee would be applied. Handy to the centre of the CBD and the nearby Southern Cross railway station and Airbus. Was lucky to get this room at a slight discount online.
B. Y.
Check-in staff very efficient. Shower doesn't require a briefing to operate. Room quite big. But... No PowerPoint near bed drives me crazy. No lobby to speak of - Walked to another hotel to meet a colleague. Carpet etc bit worn, tired, stained. Overall pretty good. Never rate above 3 stars if I can't plug my phone in at night without moving the whole bed.
A. A.
Room service needs to be rostered, tea and coffee ran out quickly. Good for overnight but wouldnt stay there for too long wish they had a spa and free gym.
F. A.
Kind of skimpy hotel, visibility at front is light on and easily missed. Then entrance is tight and the first thing to assess are the stairs up to the elevator. There’s a chairlift to the side tho. But our girls mostly found the hotel rooms shower rooms were quite tight. One person size to use the bathroom in total. So slow going, if your sharing a hotel room with a mate. Otherwise a great room, regular size and beaut bed, just, a small narrow bathroom
C. M.
great little place and very convenient location. no parking unfortunately but if you use public transport then not bad. if you get a chance go for the pent house suits and take full advantage of the roof top balcony. some of the lower rooms can feel a little squishy but over all a nice place to stay.
D. M.
The hotel is fairly basic, I'm giving it 3 stars because I'm in a generous mood today.
The bathroom specifically is quite sub par.
There's nothing wrong with the rooms, they are just very simple and rather on the small side.
T. W.
Rooms are spacious and modern, location is excellent and has lots of utilities like stovetops and microwaves, made for long term stays. The room I stayed in had quite thin walls, the alley down below had lots of noise early in the morning as rubbish trucks and emptied the bin. So if quite is something you want, probably want to look elsewhere.
M. M.
My firm booked me an apartment and it was pretty great, staff friendly although they talk so quick at check-in you miss stuff u need to know so I asked them to repeat it. Would go there again for sure. They let me keep by case at the hotel until I left my course and headed home. Have requested a copy of my hotel payment twice and still not received it for my employer, don't know how long this takes, simple request.

Location Location Location !
A little gem of a hotel on Collins Street, perfectly located to take advantage of the green zone (free travel) on city tram line. We loved the layout of the room, the urban balcony and the cleanliness.
However there were some maintenance issues.. a broken TV remote that reception replaced .. A chair that looked like it was getting ready to collapse and bathroom fittings that were flimsy and needed tightening.
What we found pleasantly surprising, was the generous buffet breakfast available on level one. We loved the pancake machine, the high speed create your own juicer and the selection of hot food and pastries.
Maintenance issues aside.. we would definitely stay at the Oaks again because it's great value and once outside the hotel door, Melbourne is a place you just want to get out and explore.

Bought the deal on Groupon and was impressed with our room , free bottle of Red Wine , Breakfast included and late check-out for $130!!!

Good hotel in the middle of the city
Smooth check in and check out and nice generous clean rooms with well equipped kitchenette. Great value for money. The bathroom was tiny though..more a wardrobe with facilities..not sure how this would work with 2 people over a longer time. Would def come back
D. P.
Rooms tidy and staff very helpful. But overpriced car park and cramped rooms.
K.
Great place 2 stay but food was disgusting. Paid $26 for buttered chic and only got 5 peices of chicken tiny cubes wont eat again in there but liked our stay
P. W.
There are better choices but if nothing else is available in the area it is just ok. Room design is poor. For example, in the room I'm in at the moment, there is a full size fridge an arms length away from the bed, humming away (I turned it off at the fuse box so it wouldn't interrupt my sleep. Low water pressure means there is about 5 degrees of play between burning hot and very cold on the shower tap. Bathroom is tiny and no shelf space for a shaver or tooth brush (I used the kitchenette instead).
S. P.
Good location. Cleaning was missed 1 day. The bathrooms are small though and you have to pay for wifi beyond 30 minutes a day. I was given an 'internal' room - ie a room with a window to a corridor. I've seen very few staff around. There's nothing super wrong with the place but nothing fantastic about it either.
N. S.
TBH, this place is nice, rooms are modern and beds are clean and most of all the staff are really accomodating.
BUT we were plagued with issues in each room. I was there for 3 nights and had 4 different rooms. the first 2 rooms the aircon was leaking (placed above the door, worst spot ever) and left a puddle in the front. the third room had a blocked toilet. and in the fourth room the shower leaked.
the staff as mentioned were completely accomodating and offered a free brekky. but issues are issues.
M. Ó. D.
Fantastic place to stay. Clean and large rooms with good views of the CBD. Tram stop just up the street and really friendly staff that are really helpful and even let us check in 4 hours early. Can't wait to come back and stay.
C. K.
Great stay with everything you need if visiting for a busy working week. Close to Southern Cross Station and central to everything in the city. Room has fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, study desk, couch, bar stool and comfy bed with space to move. Restaurant on level one has reasonable prices with attentive staff and timely service. No probs if dining on your own.
J. B.
Good location. Friendly staff. Room is clean. Don't like bathroom door right next to bed. But otherwise room is nice. Buffet breakfast is quite nice with good selection.
S. B.
It's a nice cozy place. I'm put up at the penultimate top floor, in room 1711. The service is nice, the staff are patient and friendly to foreigners. Dental kits and shower caps are available on request. There's a sauna, swimming pool, gym, and an indoor restaurant. The swimming pool is rather small and one meter deep so it's not daunting. The gym had all the essentials (although I haven't seen dumb bells, maybe I wasn't looking in the right place). My room has no view but it's not like I needed one. The bathrooms are small but enough. There's no bathtub (the room isn't big enough to contain one either) but I don't need one. It's located in a vibrant part of the CBD so there's plenty to do all around you. The Wi-Fi is really fast, and is an added bonus.
L. X.
Beautifully maintained, clean modern rooms. Perfect location, just 10 minutes walk from Southern Cross Station and within seconds of Tram stops along Collins.
Perfect if you are travelling for business, rooms have a stove, fridge, microwave and plenty of desk and table space.
Although I dont recommend you book this place if its the first time your staying overnight in a new relationship, the toilet and shower is basically part of the room, just partitioned off with a glass wall, so you can basically hear everything that is going on in there!
P. C.
We stayed in one of the apartments which was fine. Just want to comment about the gym and pool. Firstly the pool is small and outdoors, so no one using it in cooler weather and probably too sunny for hot weather. The gym could do with some more attention. There were no cups for the water cooler, no wet wipes in the wet wipe dispenser. There is a bench for doing bench presses but no weights whatsoever. OK it's only a small gym and that is OK, the equipment that is there works fine, but why have a bench and no weights? The toilet is OK and has a shower too.
R. G. (.
Oaks on Collins are excellent studio apartments with ensuite kitchenette and a bath-toilet. There is a small safe, an ironing board and varies amenities - no comp shaver though. Looks great for short stays to explore the city or for business travelers.
Large windows let in lots of natural light. Though being in the middle of the city, there isn't much of a view outside. Being right in the middle of the CBD, it is relatively close to major city sights and with relatively easy access to further locations via bus and tram.
K. H.
Room was very clean and neat. Bed was super comfortable and they offered 2 types of pillows for preferences. The kitchen was fully equiped and we used it only to heat up left over food from dining out. Location is good as it was still in cbd but just not centralised.
K. F.
Loved it...a fantastic place to stay at the rooms spacious. This place is centrally located to eateries and shops and within city circle. The restaurant was fantastic the foods amazing and beautiful view. A big Thank You to Edwin for your hospitality for looking after us. A well presented breakfast buffet. A must to stay at.
D. G.
A good hotel for the price.
It's central to most things, there's a supermarket (IGA) next door with a small bottleshop.
Bar and restaurant on ground level. Standard continental breakfast extra.
The rooms are clean for the most part, definitely showing wear and tear.
Air con needed maintenance, Staff were friendly and efficient as they promptly shut down a party next door.
Has a coin laundry on every floor. Laundry detergent extra from the front office.
Gym and pool are small. 5m lap pool, and general compound, cardio, cable machines.
With several conference rooms.
Bathroom and kitchen in the basic rooms are limited in space and style.
A 3-4 star hotel.
C. W.
Hotel is well located, and rooms are pretty spacious. I like that there is a coin laundry so I'm not paying exorbitant hotel fees. Bathrooms are pokey and small, but my biggest gripe, paid WiFi! It's 2016, not acceptable.
N. V.
Comfortable rooms, greate bed, decent facilities, and great location. Its the quality of life things that really pull this place down. The TV is useless for those evenings when you've been out all day and want to relax for a bit. Considering its a smart TV, the lack of connection to the internet renders it a dumb TV. Internet, at $5 for every half hour, isn't just expensive, its a scam. But its fine because you can spam the log in via facebook button and you can have free internet indefinitely. The bathroom door sits a meter away from where you sleep, so unless you enjoy the smell of a toilet, not a great a design. Overall, would not stay again, definitely better places for similar price.
S. S.
Great location. Walking distance to all the main shopping places in CBD and also to the Victoria Market.
Staff were very sweet and helpful. The room heating wasnt that efficient though.
Over all a good and comfortable stay..
S. D.
Can't fault this place when you compare it for it's price, quality & location.
D. T.
Postives: Convenient location, close to public transport and restaurants/cafes. Rooms were clean and of reasonable size with great lighting. Staff were also friendly and accommodating. Negatives: no ramp access to the property and shower pressure was too low.
M. R.
Definitely not 4 star. Very dated and drab inside. Not worn out but definitely Overdue for a makeover. Restaurant is not great and more like an old style executive factory cafeteria from the 60/70s. Don't recommend
J. P.
Really enjoyed the location on Collins Street in the city. It was perfect for everywhere I wanted to go (on foot) and not have the hassle of trying to park the car. Staff attended to fixing a leaking shower very promptly and the studio was huge.
G. K.
Clean, but tired and basic. Not worth the money being charged. Stay out of room 1010, toilet may as well be in the bed and the window opens on the entry hall of room 1012. Good if your desperate.
S. N.
Rooms are OK but bathroom is very very small. Pressure of the shower is too small too. Beds are comfortable and lot of rooms does not have any window. Check out is also too early at 10 AM.
G. J.
My stay at Oaks no matter where i go has always been lovely in terms of service, however i was sightly disappointed in terms of my 'view' having been on the 6th floor my view was just a brick building next door that skyrocketed up to the height of Oaks. What i assumed that was advertised as a well situated hotel with a view was a bit misleading. I requested to be moved further up in the complex and it was granted which i felt very happy about until even on the 14th floor i got that same brick wall view. If the view is not what you care about then this hotel is awesome and in a great location! however in my circumstance i think next time i will need to stay at a different Oaks.
K. G.
If you're just looking for somewhere to crash, you could do worse. Very basic rooms. Bathroom is basically a shoebox with a shower curtain. Comfortable beds, all the necessary amenities, and in a solid location.
T. H.
Room was big but very unclean, bathroom was a tiny cubicle with poor facilities. However breakfast was hearty. Oaks on Lonsdale has way better facilities but doesn’t include brekkie
B. L.
Location: right in the CBD, very convenient
Price: Reasonable
Room: Spacious, comfy bed, but the bath door was broken, couldnt close it.
Staff: very helpful and nice
The best part, parking, even though it is an offsite parking (5 mins away by walk) but it is cheap, just $12/day or /exit.
V. I.
A very average hotel. Nothing special. The bathroom is very small. Breakfast did not serve omelets. Otherwise breakfast is average. It seems it was an office building converted into a hotel.
R. P.
Room was clean. Service was great and staff were attentive. Room was noisy due to air cons and construction across the road. Would like to have access to SBS on TV. Great central location.
P. W.
Big room, but small bathroom. All facilities provided in the room - microwave, cooktop etc. Friendly staff, nice food. Aircon d and a few small fittings needed attention so this can be improved. Overall I enjoyed the stay.

Experience: Tidy rooms with balcony, decent breakfast even though we paid extra for it.
What's good: Kitchen is provided with basic utensils. this place is close to the free tram station.
What's Bad: Breakfast is not part of the price you pay, Wifi is extra and prices are ridiculous.
Things to Know: Rooms on lower floors have no views to the city, balcony is of no use. Try getting the rooms on the top floor (16th or 17th Floor) views from these rooms are amazing. Conference room option is available.
S. T.
Good size room. Not happy with staff initiative though. Information about breakfast wasnt clear and paid more than needed.
J. P.
Great prices. Easy to use website
M. P.
Great lunch specials and delicious too. Nice to go somewhere fancy and just sit and enjoy a meal while watching the city pass you by. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Will definitely be coming back 😊
G. E.
Hotel facility was very good. Only but major frustration was with reception . Room quote was in Aus$! Once home discovered charged in Can$ on card. Also attempted to "forget" a meal cost deduction.
A. C. (.
Everything was alright, the bathroom was a little small, but the offers were very good like if you don't have room service you get $5 off the restaurant for the nights you're staying.
R. S. P.
Big room, well equipped but a terribly small bathroom. Not even enough to move about with ease. Some rooms have no openings at all. Well located. Breakfast is the SAME every day.
M. J.
Location is great, close but not in the loudest part of town. Easy walk to anywhere. The rooms seemed a bit old, however it was great for what we paid and exactly what was needed! Would stay again
D. A.
1st Floor Restaurant & Bar is conveniently located. Menu selection is ok but poorly executed, location was convenient for client since they stayed in apartments above. Environment is clean and tidy, but would recommend other better options closer if looking for a meal.
B. C.
Went to oaks on Collins for a professional development course. This is my third time coming here for a course. The venue is adequate and the staff are wonderful and polite. However, this time round, we had an extremely noisy and large group of people having a course next door to ours and during their break times, the sound proofing wasn't the best and we had trouble hearing our speaker several times throughout the two day event. Otherwise, we did enjoy the experience and will not hesitate to come back again if given the opportunity.
L. X.
great location and modern, spacious room with full kitchen. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We couldn't be happier with our stay.
S. S.
Tried lunch specials. They had variety of choices for $11.50. Menu items included pasta, parma, burgers, Nasi Goreng, salads and couple of other braised meats with rice. Drinks were cheap as well.
Not much to say about food. It was average at best. Ambience was clean and had good views to Collins
Best part for us was the views from huge glass windows in the restaurant.
W. A.
A nice hotel centrally located a short walk from the main train station (southern Cross) the studios were spacious and provided everything from an en suite to a kitchenete. There's a gym and pool however the pool can probably just fit 5 people in and the breakfast is expensive at $25pp or $17 if you prebook at reception. The hotel staff did however give us free wifi as it was Christmas which saved us $85 for a 7 day plan.
J. Z.
Been twice both times clean tidy and friendly staff and nice rooms with nice views only thing even though staying in higher class of room for a few days breakfast is still an extra charge where as I have found other hotels ussually included. Having said that its still the best hotel so far I have found bang for bucks hence my second stay.
L. L.
Not a bad hotel... Not an amazing hotel either. Gym is horrible. Ended up joining plus fitness. I'm here for work for 3 weeks. Besides that room is clean... Not fan of how small the bathroom is.
M. T.
Good four star hotel. Rooms have a small kitchen. Bathroom is very small, but bed is comfortable. Reasonably priced
F. z.
Loved it always i have stayed there; one of the best serviced apartments, so close to Southern cross train stations and all major big shopping options that includes Bourke street, Spencer mall and southern wharf dfo.
m. c.
Went for a conference. Stayed overnight. Not exceptional but not the worst place I've ever been. Clean and tidy room. a bit aged as in dated decor. Very tiny ensuite.
N. I.
Doesn't live up to what is presented on line with its beautiful photos which are a let down in reality. I liken the Oaks as being an apartment block advertised as a hotel hence the 3 stars. We paid $200+ per night but will not be back and would recommend looking at another hotel and reviews before planning your own 5 star holiday
S. B.
Friendly staff, fine amenities and services. Loved my stay here. Amazing view of the city from the building. It is situated at the center place with quick access to everything.
C. M.
Location: great, near the Southern Cross station but if you are a light sleeper like me, make sure you ask for a room away from Collins Street. Otherwise you will hear the police and ambulance on Friday and Saturday nights, I was on the 10th floor and could hear them.
Service: was ok, wish the reception guy had better customer service skills but it's not intercon ;)
Room: don't have any issues with the room itself, as everyone has commented on the bathroom and the sink size, I have put some photos for you to see for yourself.
Ordered sticky date pudding through room service, it arrived promptly with the pudding upside down without being warmed up and it was dry. For $14 and most likely it was bought in, they didn't even bother to place it nicely and it was upside down. Icing on the cake!
If you need accommodation for one or two nights, it's ok but certainly look elsewhere for longer than that. Plenty of great hotels in Melbourne ;)
J. B.
I loved our overnight stay here, the staff were helpful and the view was very nice. The rooms are spaced out nicely and the price is more then reasonable. With the central location in the city this is one of the places I will be staying at again when I travel to Melbourne.
H. O.
We love returning to the Oaks on Collins and recommend it to friends to stay at who are coming to the Queen's City of the south. Very obliging staff and high standard of room cleanliness which is not always the case . Good Value for money. Will return again.
R. J.
Room small but very clean overnight parking a rip off staff friendly
H. M.
We enjoyed our room very much. We didn't enjoy that we had an early check out and we paid for the room to be cleaned after check out but they instructed us to clean up after ourselves.
k. g.
Had our roster Christmas party(Metro Trains Melbourne) at collins st; Oak first level restaurant which was such a wonderful and personalized service by professional friendly staff. Head chef was doing the carvery by himself and food was phenomenal. F&B manager Shakha was very helpful all the way. Thank you very much for Shakha and his wonderful team for their wonderful hospitality:)
A. L.
Messed up my booking but after I bought it to their attention the problem was rectified very quickly. Good location for a weekend in the CBD.
G. P.
Stayed in 2 rooms...first was average 2nd was perhaps the best hotel room I've ever stayed in. it might of been the queen executive or something. Better suited to single person stays because of how the bathroom is setup. No wifi was disapointing..
J. L.
Comfortable hotel for the $160 mark. Loved the gym, sauna, and pool facilities. Self contained rooms are spacious. Hotel is centrally located which makes everything easy.
E. B.
Average atmosphere downstairs, upstairs is better furnished. Small food court there with minimal healthy options, but a wide variety of regional flavors. Often packed around lunch time.
G. G.
We stayed in the penthouse suite on the top floor. Very nice view and big balcony but the bathroom sink smelt very moldy and stunk up the whole room.
R. S.
Loved the comfy bed. Close to Southern Cross railway station. Good value for high quality room. Nice buffet breakfast.
N. H. M.
We have the $11.50 lunch at the restaurant on 1st floor of Oaks on Collins. It’s really good price, so salmon is a bit dry. Some people have to wait for an hour to get the meal. Overall a steal 👍
D. L.
The rooms are great, they are have everything you will need to stay anything from a night, to a week! The location though is even better, literally within walking distance to everything that anyone needs.
C. B.
Nice hotel and apartment only minor complaint is bathroom is tiny when you step out if shower your almost stepping on carpet. Breakfast was yummy
S. E.
FANTASTIC Stayed 4 nights February 2014 staff very friendly and helpful room spotless and spacious would stay there again. Location was excellent chose to walk everywhere even though free tram service was close by.
M. A.
Excellent location. Will be good if they improve their breakfast; about the rooms - their are good enough.
A. G.
Great place, neat and clean and very inviting. Vibrant atmosphere and good food at restaurant on Level 1. Great location
J. H.
Good location, Adequate room, no natural night in the room was disappointing, only opening was a glass area which other guests could look in. The room had a temperature regular installed near the roof with a sign saying not a camera... Was totally a camera.
L. S.
Looked nice, very secure. Great inner city location. Ensuites in room have no noise insulation, can hear everything when someone uses the toilet!
F. P.
Ok Rooms. Quite clean big and comfy. Bathrooms a little small and shower pressure super low. Good location.
B. C.
Basic self catering apartment accommodation. Stayed twice for work and both times got an internal room with windows onto a corridor. Bar and restaurant are quite bland and uninviting.
A. Y.
Rooms were small however they have great sauna facilities. Buffet breakfast was well worth the money paid for.
G. L.
I booked the hotel online. It didn't show that the one I booked is a double bed. Actually I want a queen bed. I found it hard to sleep as my husband and I had to squeeze together. But we just stayed there for 2 nights so we didn't ask to change room.
T. M.
The staff were friendly helpful and always ha d a smile would very happily stay again Room clean and large ,shower a bit small Hotel close to everything
T. W.
Great location in the centre of Melbourne. Large room with kitchen facilities. Small bathroom the size of a cupboard. Common areas looking a little tired and carpet worn out.
L. S.
Hotel is nicely located in Melbourne. Rooms are well equipped. However noise can be an issue as this hotel is right on the tram line. Also some noise between rooms.
T. R.
Great spot, clean and tidy and very friendly staff. They put a $75 hold for security on your card which is hugely inconvenient but otherwise well worth a stay.
A.
Clean, staff friendly.
S. K.
Round the clock reception service (need to mention this since I arrived past midnight to Melbourne). Nice location, right in the heart of the city. Decent breakfast. But it is charged separately.
R. D.
Great place. Wonderful location in the centre of Melbourne. Well maintained.
B. J.
Hi there, I stayed here for 2 days chilling out in the CBD Friday - Sunday. Great location. The Room was fantastic on the 19th Floor (1909). Huge Balcony sundeck and table. Great backdrop of CBD lights Would recommend this place again without doubt. It was just sooooo sooooo centrally located to Docklands, SouthBank, Casino and mainstream Collins st restaurants and Shopping.
T. J.
Nice little place to stay for overnight or business trips. Some rooms don't have any outside views but generally tidy and nice staff.
P. T.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Food and service was excellent. Good central location near transport. Would return again without a second thought.
L. R.
Staff very welcoming. Allowed me to come into my room earlier thankyou.
Room clean comfortable bed and room was in a quite location. Thankyou OAKS ON COLLINS would recommend a stay here.
T. F.
2nd Best Chicken Schnitzel EVER in the restaurant. Very friendly staff who offered this to me as a fussy eater. Not 1 burnt chip they were delicious! Will be back for more! Thank you
F.
If you are looking for affordable, convenient accommodation where you will only sleep, wash and eat your wheatbix in the morning, this is the place for you. Online, it states that their parking height limit is 1.9m but the car attendant easily sqeased my LandCruiser in which is just under 2.1m in Height.
J. P.
Chen at reception was extremely helpful in managing my booking, thank you!!
C. B.
Staff were friendly and answered lots of questions. Loved the room except that the bathroom was really dark to be able to do makeup in and no mirrors in other parts of the room
M. B. (.
Weird rooms. Big room with this bolt on bathroom. They look like an add-on and could barely turn around in them. RHS painted post in the shower that has the shower head that sprayed everywhere. Cheap renovation gone wrong.
R. H.
Room was pretty good but the ac remote didnt work and the showers had a small margin to get it just right.
J. T.
Stayed in Oaks on Collins to attend a two days conference. Hotel is easily accessible. Room is clean. Toilet is slightly cosier then normal.
A. “. T.
Great spot, cheap for a spot central to the city. I'd like to have experienced the pool/sauna/gym but it was closed for renovations. Would stay again.
R. C.
I agree that the bathroom was the worst point about the stay. The door is very heavy to slide, and there is no exhaust fan! Other than that it is very nice.
A. W.
Good central location, all the amenities you need and Breakfast has more than enough choice. Friendly and attentive staff too.
T. C.
Room OK, but would only just class this as a 4-star hotel. Only 30 mins free Wifi then very expensive. Great location though.
T. N.
Great service and position.
Non heated pool , ageing rooms.
B. B.
Bright and big room, Morden and newly renovated. Bathroom is a bit of let down.
Staffs are nice and helpful.
k. o.
Great hotel very close to everything. Very nice and friendly staff.
C. C.
Fab room with kitchenette better than home! Great location close to Sthn Cross Station and Founders Station. Tiny bathroom though
F.
Clean and quiet but the rooms were small with no accessible power points by the bed and no free WiFi.
N. T.
Nice decent hotel with large beds and rooms. The breakfast is nice too.
T. O.
Well located in the Southend of the cbd. Studio has all you would expect, inc full kitchenette. Pool and gym on lvl3, and restaurant seems nice too. Needs a little TLC but still gets a solid 4/5.
C. P.
Never stayed at the hotel. I only came here for the Cuban sandwiches at Mason Dixon. Pretty good sandwiches; don't know about the rooms.
M. S.
Located in very convenient location. Clean and tidy rooms. Helping staff. Buffet breakfast and Friday buffet lunch for less prices for in-house guests.
S. H.
Nice, tidy, compact. Good for a short biz trip. Good easy location - a straight line walk from Southern Cross train station
P. K.
Located near to southern cross. Plenty of restaurants near by. Everything is good except the bathroom. You will get complementary breakfast which is really make yr day full.
B. W.
Oaks aren’t anything fancy but that are always clean, tidy, good sized rooms and generally I’m a good location much like this one.
K. A.
Nice rooms, nice staff and good gym compared to many hotel gyms I've used. Great location too.
R. T.
Decent place to stay for a work trip, bed was next to the toilet... Like really close... Their studio rooms aren't great for that
S. Y.
It's ok, central location. Weird room design, tiny bathrooms, ordinary breakfast buffet. Cheap though. Ok for a night.
N. D.
Room was perfect for me and my partner staff were great and lovely. Would stay there again!
H. G.
It's a good hotel, even though for the first 4 nights, I just realized that it's not the room that I booked.
P. L.
Great location! Very nice rooms. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Close to everything! I love it!
h. l.
Centrally located, convenient. Good sized rooms with all expected equipment. 24/7 reception.
H. A.
Stayed in this hotel during my stay in Melbourne. It's in the middle of the city with easy access to almost all the locations. The staff is friendly too.
S. K.
Location was perfect. Rooms were ok but bad temperature control. Service could have been improved definitely
I. A.
Good and friendly staff. Close to the shops and supermarket just below, if visiting on holiday it's very close to attractions such as the parliament house and museum and exhibition center.
r. b.
Hotel generally good but be aware that some rooms do not have windows!
K. W.
Spacious rooms, balcony available. Comfortable beds and shower had good water pressure
R. H.
Great Central hotel walking distance to South bank and DFO Southern Cross restaurant and bars! Very comfortable clean with friendly staff
J.
Pros:
• Middle of the City
• Right next to free tram stop
• Utilities are good (kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle)
• Plates, bowls, cups and utensils available
• Friendly and well-trained staff
• Airconditioned
• Clean and very spacious
Cons:
• Bathroom is small
• Only a curtain separates shower and the rest of the bathroom (gets splashy!)
• No ventilation in bathroom
H. G.
Good hotel, I have to say. But they didn't give me the room that I booked. But they managed to get me the room that I want.
S. B.
Room was decent, shower / bathroom area like a caravan. Average
M. S.
Clean room, polite staff, decent breakfast. Carpark very tight with a large car
R. M.
Good quality accommodation. Well fitted. View was not the best but didn't matter for only two nights.
I. S.
Small but functional rooms, kitchenette is very handy and well laid out. Staff are very efficient and friendly.
d. t.
Great easy access location from Airport SkyBus and Flinders St. Station. Plenty of cafes & food dining outside the front door, 5min. walk to the Yarra River, Docklands, Convention Center, Casino.
E. M.
Great value for money 😁 Comfy bed 😁Good location and Charles from reception was more than happy to upgrade us .. Nothing to complain about we loved it 👌Def come back 😁Cheers dave and liz
L. G.
Great room. Very large, extremely good value. Great bed.
N. C.
We stayed in the self contained apartment, it was clean and kitchen facility was satisfactory, except the water flushing mechanism in our toilet had problem.
K. K.
Apartment was nicely arranged n all required stuff r in right place. Great staff n very friendly in attending any request
p. m.
Nice hotel but just seems to be a revolving door pumping people through. Priced ok. Probably not going back
J. M.
It's a nice location with good access and features for guests. The only issue I found was very small rooms.
S. T.
Great place to stay. Nice rooms with all facilities. Definitely going here again.
T. H.
Solid hotel and room. Clean. TV remote only changed channels up but not down.... Wi-Fi is ridiculously priced - Don't bother...
D. L.
Was close to a lot of the CBD attractions. Room was fine however there weren't any windows for our room which was a disappointment
K. G. M.
Apartment is good in general but for the bathroom which is very small and there was problem with the wash basin which needed fixing
L. T.
The hotel is run down. Definitely needs a Reno. The lifts are very noisy. Heard the constant running of the elevators when in my room
C.
Well presented reception, warm staff. Feels safe and secure and in a great location, close to Crown casino and Southern Cross Station.
J. B.
Great location and amenities. New appliances in the room. Bathroom is very small.
C. C.
Bathroom too small.. restaurant third rate at best and overpriced..gym good.
won't be returning..perfect location
J. T.
Good views, good sunset, good weather, beautiful apartment with excellent interiors with happy customer service awaiting for you at the front, cleaning service included
M. H.
Apart from the noise by drunken teens 2 rooms down from me and the early check in being accepted then canceled and then room change I enjoyed it.
J. K.
Average for the price you pay, place could do with touch up in the rooms and broken appliances in the room we had and charges for wifi
M. G.
Comfortable room, shower water temp not overly hot. Great location and gym facilities.
C. L.
Clean, well appointed apartments at a reasonable price. Fuss free check in and out.
J.
Quaint hotel with all the amenities. Room is a bit compact but quite happy with my choice.
V. G.
The location is good but the hotel is not that great. I would recommend exploring other options.
S. S. B.
Ok to stay but not having good internet facility. Room cleaning is not done at regularly basis. Near to grocery and restaurents.
S. B.
The staff are wonderful, rooms are decent and well stocked in the kitchen for utensils and cutlery
N. m.
I went yesterday to oaks on collins fir professional development training. Then they provided MORNING tea and lunch to us. Which was amazing food and variety.
V. I.
Spacious rooms, friendly staff, good Housekeeping. A great stay👍
K. H.
Have stayed here a couple of times in the last few months, nothing fancy but clean, good value and little fuss.
E.
Single beds placed next to the toilet. Cold rooms. Bathroom floors that may cause accidental falls. Inconvenient hotel entrance/exit for those with large and heavy baggages.
H. Q.
Place was really nice and clean. Close to shops and other restaurants. Shower and bathroom was abit tight
J. N.
Great hotel. Will stay there again. IGA right next door makes it very handy.
V. V.
Not bhed, good soize... hahaha nah its actually not that bad. Room size is decent, just location.
J. G.

Very comfortable and clean. The executive studio is very spacious and has a nice kitchen!
G. A.
I fortunately changed to a deluxe room that was worth it many times over.
N. M.
Good location, staff was friendly.
Room provided knives however no forks.
S.
Location is fine, beds are pretty uncomfortable and apartment itself is quite loud due to outside noises

J. W.
The place was great👍🏻 The only thing was you got free wifi for 30 minuets and then it would stop and you would have to pay for more wifi but other then that it was amazing😊
M. F.
Had a PD meeting there supplied us with mornings tea and lunch it was quite nice but the hot water wasn't hot enough for my tea
B. L.
Overall was ok, just a shame the bathroom was poorly maintained, repairs conducted in the bathroom were not good enough for the quality of the place, was a bit yuk, but still ok.
M. R.
Great location, clean room with clean sheets and very close to the CBD and Southbank close to trams. Friendly staff.
T. M.
A lovely studio which include a kitchen and a small balcony, only the receptionist hall is tiny, anyway may give a try.
S. R.
Really friendly staff and convenient location. Good eating places around and transport is easy. Neighbourhood is Safe to walk around at night.
A. W.
Decent kitchen facilities in room. No minibar, which IMO, is a good thing.
J. S.
The buffet breakfast was amazing! Such brilliant value, I will be going again soon! ❤

J. G.
Wont be returning the place needs renovating or at least put working appliances in the room
the fridge froze our food on the lowest setting
S. S.
Coveneint location on the main shopping strip. Heaps of brands within walking distance. And also in the centre of the CBD. Amazing experience overall.

Hotel is good but not aware about nearby oaks. Small entrance makes visitor confusing

Great hotel, the only downside was the studio room was not the best, not a great deal of selection for breakfast.
T. T.
Booked the hotel last minute, prices were very reasonable with welcoming friendly staff.
