C. M.Just what we were looking for cheap and cheerful. The staff were always really helpful with any request, especially every time I forgot my keys (which was often). We stayed here for about 4 months, it had everything we needed and close to public transport, chapel street and st kilda. Would definitely recommend to a friend! Thanks for everything!

Has a small kitchen area but the bar downstairs offers 25% off all food whilst your staying so it kinda makes up for it.

Yes it’s a bit old and yes you get what you pay for, which, includes a free breakfast in the morning! That alone in my opinion is worth it!
Our room was clean, warm , and the wifi is good which is more than I can say for some other places!
Loved the bar downstairs and loved the general vibe of the place!
Some people just expect so much and completely forget that they are staying in a hostel!
A. P.Best hostel in Melbourne. Good rates, nice pub with great food and drink downstairs and a community feeling. The best thing about Pint on Punt is the staff. They are friendly and make you feel welcome. If you have any issues they sort them out quickly. I stayed here for more than 4 months and if I go back to Melbourne I'll definitely stay here again.
J. B.I love this hostel! I’ve made friends for life, it’s an amazing place. It’s easy to get to know new people, the bar downstairs has good prices and lots of different beers, the staff is super helpful and kind (shout-out to Kat in reception, you can’t find a more amazing person than her). The staff cleans the bathrooms and rooms daily, the kitchen is nice and common room cozy. I can’t imagine why someone wouldn’t like this hostel, best one so far in Australia tbh. And plus, the wifi is good and free! if I could I’d give this place 100/10 ✨✨✨✨✨
M. D.Over all a nice Hostel. The kitchen and the common room are to small for the amount of people. The Bathrooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. There are toast or cereals for breakfast from 8am. We had a twin room for $60 the night for the room. The room had a sink inside. You'll have a 25% discount on food in the bar downstairs.

It does feel like home, the staff knows you, and its aways avaiable.

C. S. S.Fantastic place to say. I met so many lovely people and really kicked off my time in Melbourne. I’m very fussy with showers and toilets as I like my own space! But never had an issue with pint on punt. Very clean and the cleaners are so lovely! All though the kitchen is small ( I only cooked a few nights) the pub downstairs gives you a discount on food which I thought was ace. Would definelty stay again.

A. N.Felt nervous about staying in a hostel for the first time but this place didn't disappoint. The only reasons it isn't 5* from me is that the rooms are quite dated and the showers were sometimes temperamental shooting from ice cold to scolding hot! But all in all the hostel is clean, staff very friendly and an added bonus is discount on food and drinks in the lovely pub downstairs.
G. C.Really nice place. The rooms and beds are rather cozy. You can leave the luggage before check-in and after checkout, even store some small valuables in the a safe. The breakfast is rather topical with some gems, vegemite, peanut butter and toasts, tea or coffee and than cereals with milk. On the other side the kitchen is really small (4m^2)
A. D.Cosy atmosphere, affordable and lots of long termers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the people are nice, good for working backpackers. The bar below is really nice, tasty snacks and selection of beer. The showers have good pressure but very temperamental temperature and the WiFi is pretty much non existent in rooms. Our room also became home to a family of little mice who treated themselves to our food. I guess you get what you pay for.
B. C.Great hostel we stayed for over 2 weeks in a private double room which had a TV. The room got cleaned regularly, the bathroom was clean and had hot showers. Good complimentary breakfast. WiFi and good sized kitchen and lounge. Good pub food offers for backpackers. One of the nicest hostels we stayed in in Australia. Great location.
L. B.Loved staying here! Didn't ever want to leave!!, yeah its basic, but we don't go backpacking to stay at 5* accommodation!!! Its all about meeting new people and getting amongst it and this is the place to do that!! Super social place, great pub downstairs, central location, all very clean and the staff are amazing! Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, clean kitchen. What more could you want?? And its cheap!

D. C.Why is this backpackers not #1 in Melbourne??? Probably because it’s competing against its sister backpackers Melbourne City, and The Ritz (above the Ex Elephant & Wheelbarrow pub, St. Kilda). Value for money 10/10, Cleanliness 10/10, Location to City/St. Kilda/Prahan (Chapel St) 10/10, Friendliness of Staff and Management 10/10, Pub downstairs (The Windsor Ale House) 10/10, Pub grub way better than your average local, 10/10, Organised Activities and Entertainment (bit restricted due to current lockdown laws but you can see the effort around the place) 10/10, Internet speed 10/10, the list goes on 10/10. I haven’t felt shower pressure like that since....I thought that a Firemen had broken through the roof and was hosing me down........ my only beef is the breakfast peanut butter comes from the fridge......us poor 1st world problem people . Do yourself a favour and DON'T stay anywhere else when you come to Melbourne, unless it’s 1 of the 3 Sisters which would, I’m sure, replicate the standards here.
M. A.Good location, ten minutes walk from skybus stop or train station. Discounts at the bar downstairs and the room was clean. Shower and toilets could do with a scrub and would be great if hand soap was provided in the bathrooms

I was I'll when I stayed and I had to call my own ambulance which was fine, but in the hour I waited on stoop, not one person asked if I was ok including staff.
Apart from that I enjoyed it.
S. K.FRIENDLY, CLEAN and PERFECT LOCATION ! Everyone who works there, either in the pub below or in the hostel, are super friendly and will help you out with whatever you need! SUPER CLEAN, Cleaners every day whilst I was staying there literally cleaning up after everyone! The best location in Melbourne, close to the beach yet a 5 min tram to the city. Would stay again next time i'm in Melbourne!
J. S.I thought it was great! Breakfast was a big bonus! And people were very friendly. Did find that the mattress was a bit springy. But overall I slept well and it did what a hostel does. Provides a comfy place to sleep for the day out.
F. C.I stayed at pint on punt for about three months and had the best time. The receptionist (Kiera) was always very friendly and extremely helpful. The bar staff are awesome too and you get discounted drinks and tasty food (try the chicken burger) while staying there. The bar always has something going and live music but when I wanted a chill night I heard no noise from the bar. I met some friends for life at this hostel and would definitely stay here again!! Pint on punt I love you! And I recommend to all.
Ps is in a great location if you want easy access to city or a night out in st kinda. Peace out ✌🏽
J. E.I stayed at the pint on Punt for a couple weeks to get my bearings in Melbourne. I was initially drawn to the place by it's affordable pricing but was super excited by the atmosphere and the welcomeness of the other people. They have an adjoining pub downstairs and it was chocked full of deals for backpackers--food and drink. Also, there was even a night with free wine and cheese for backpackers. As for the rooms, the one I had was dark. That being said, I asked for that, and Laura at reception hooked me up! Free breakfast was also nice and a good way to jumpstart my day. Because of all of this, I have just booked another 2 weeks. Looking forward to meeting lovely new people.
S. R.Good bagpackers accommodation, quite clean. Provides free breakfast in the morning, would be great if they add boiled eggs in their breakfast menu. Friendly staff. It also has pub and live music. 6 KMs from city and near st. Kilda Beach, reachable by trams.

N. L.I arrived and the check-in desk was not open. Had to go through to the bar to gain access to the room and was met but the grumpiest most unfriendly guy ever. I must say he was an exception because the rest of the staff was quite friendly.
The rooms were super basic, can't expect too much for the cost.
The cooking facilities are so minimal and cannot hold more than perhaps 2-3 people at once. There is no oven and the fridges smell like death. If your plan is to cook I would encourage you to plan to buy your meals out. They have affordable lunches at the bar downstairs.
My room was infested with ants and at night I saw a couple mice just roaming freely. Guests were drunk and loud around the kitchen area where my room was.
The showers and toilets were just ok. The internet was unreliable and powerful at times and completely disconnected.
The one advantage is that it is located in St Kilda- takes about 15 mins to get to CBD.
If you are looking for a bed and warm shower, then this is the place for you. Anything above that consider something else!

t. p.Good option of you're traveling on a budget. But there are important problems. Beds aren't comfortable enough, showers are either too hot or too cold, poor breakfast, noisy guests, tiny kitchen, not room enough for everybody's food in the fridge and people smoking cigarettes and pot right beside your room, flooding it with the smell. Apart from that, it is ok.
