and of course friendly knowledgeable staff.
Staff are really helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean and have comfortable beds. Full functional kitchen with enough pots and pans to make your breakfast. Enjoyed our stay with friends and families.

Hotel Barkly public bar is home to some great entertainment, including trivia nights and food and drink specials throughout the week. There are Summer Sunday Sessions with live music/DJs on the beautiful rooftop, overlooking St Kilda. Make sure to ask at reception for details on the night's entertainment.

A. D.The rooms have ensuite bathrooms, daily cleaning by really friendly staff and we were warmly welcomed on reception even though we didn't arrive until 10pm. The bar next door was good fun too and you get discount on drinks for staying here. Good value for money and really close to the trams to get to the city. Would definitely recommend

E.Place is great, reception are nice, close to a few of St. Kildas many bars and hotels, perfect distance from the beach and Luna Park, which was the fullest it's been since before lockdown this week, will always find parking, close to a huge and probably one of the nicest Woolies you've been in. I've only ever come around St. Kilda for work but currently staying at this place till I find a more permanent place here in St. Kilda. Love it

M.This hostel is really hard to rate and honestly probably deserves three stars. I rated it higher because I really enjoy the crowd here and the discounted food they offer at the bar is so so good. I really wish the internet wasn’t so slow and signed you out on a daily basis. The cleaning crew is also all volunteer workers so the cleanliness can very a lot. I would stay here again but I would love to see some improvements.
F. I.I got the twin share with private ensuite room 303 just below the level 4 outdoor party area. You can hear the music until early hours of the morning, its a light background noise. Very spacious motel sized room. Stairs only, so no need for gym membership. Very good location, staff rotate often but are friendly. Good standard for a backpackers. I would recommend this as an option for anyone who can't get a hotel.

T. I.I spent 12 days here and loved it. The food specials in the pub are awesome, there is a roof top club that you can go hang out on when it's not in use, and its location truly cant be beat. Great place to meet people, or spend those cozy hangover days in the commons room. I wont stay in any other hostel when visiting Melbourne.
L. L.I enjoyed my stay at summerhouse backpackers, the staff is young, friendly and helpful. They had free breakfast and a great rooftop bar. The private bathroom are very new and clean. The rooms are big and everyone has a big locker.
J. G.This hostel is by far one of the best hostels I've been to on my travels so far. The staff is amazing and very friendly. The bar serves beer at a good price as well as getting a free drink on arrival. They upgraded me from an 8 bed to a 6 bed dorm because it's low season in Melbourne and everything is very clean. The kitchen is actually big enough to cook if you so choose but with all the great restaurants in the area I didn't use the kitchen. The rooftop common area is a nice place to hangout with friends you've met in the hostel and they have live music on the weekends as well as cool mini events during the week. I would highly recommend staying here as it's much nicer than the other hostels in the area at an even better price than the others.
A. S.Staff was nice and the room was absolutely amazing, especially considering it’s a hostel. I stayed in a private double room with private bathroom on the third floor. Unfortunately I can’t give this place five stars because
1) I know this is a hostel and parties are an obvious thing to consider, but the level of noise my room on third floor was unbearable. They have their own little bar on the 4th floor and the ceiling/floor was not holding any of the noise back. I actually had to raise my voice in the room so that my partner could hear me. The bar itself is nice but they should do something with the ceiling/floor so that it would be less noisy in the rooms on the third floor.
2) on the second day of our 3-day-stay, I was still in my bed when I heard a knock on the door and that very second the door was opened by a staff member. I did not have even a chance to reply but I managed to quickly cover myself with a blanket before she was already in my room. I asked her what was going on and she said in a very relaxed way that she is from room service. I was in complete shock and unfortunately with a rude voice asked her what was she doing and when she was about to answer I told her to leave quickly and so she did. I have no idea why did she barge in like that but this was unacceptable. I am sure this is a one time mistake but I still think it’s important to write it in this review.
E. K.I would definitely recommend Summer House if you are searching for a really good and lovely hostel in St Kilda. I really enjoyed my stay here and extended it up to 2 weeks even if I just wanted to stay for a few days.
The staff member are all friendly, the private bathrooms are modern and really cleaned and one of the highlights is the movie room and the view from the rooftop. There you also have a bar and every friday you can join the rooftop party.
I also really liked the location from the hostel, just 5 minutes to shops; restaurantes and cafés and just 8 minutes to the beach. Perfect ☺️ You will meet lots of friendly and chilled people there and have a nice stay!
T. T.Summer House is a great hostel with a good kitchen, great rooms, a well priced bar/restaurant downstairs, and most of all, a friendly staff. We stayed there for 2 weeks until we could move into our sharehouse. At the end of 2 weeks the battery to our car was dead and one of the staff members, Evan, was kind enough to drive his car to ours so we could jump the battery. This saved us loads of money and hassle and I it just goes to show how the staff went above and beyond for the guests. I would definitely stay here again.

The downstairs bar/restaurant was good value for money on drinks and food. It's a good place especially for people working or looking for work long term.
L. H.I have been at this hostel for months now and have no intention of leaving. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the bar is cheap and has a great atmosphere. There is also a rooftop where you can chill all day and watch netflix. The staff here have made my stay as they are all so friendly, especially Anthony, Will, Becca, Kirstie, Tallulah, Evan and Nicole who will be missed.
R. N. D.There are a very good accomodation to stay as backpackers. We booked family room and satisfied with this. We booked this property via online booking system. They are providing complementary breakfast with free WiFi facilities in all rooms. But every weekend they arrange roof top night party which may disturbing you if you are not participating in this event. They have a bar and Pizza shop beside this property. Complementary one hard drinks also offered by the property for each border. Location is very good near beach. Young tourist may like it very much.
T. M.Nice People all around. The staff were really friendly. Kitchen facilities were very useful to save some cash. It's in a good location for getting tram into the city and just off Achland street. I was there for a little over a week and the internet barely even worked and how much you pay is a rip off.
T. M.The location is nice though, short walk to the beach. Rooms get cleaned everyday and all the rooms have a shared shower/toilet which is great. A lot of longstays and we met really awesome people during our stay. The rate booked online may be much higher than you book there directly.

L. R.The facilities are very nice, but the room was extremely messy. The girls I was staying with had spread their belongings over every surface and all over the floor. I had to climb through a maze to get to my bed. If the room was cleaner I think I would have enjoyed by stay much more.

Rooftop - pretty good, lots of seats. Free BBQ on the monday was just sausages and white bread as buns, which ran out half way through
Pub downstairs was good with some good drinks prices, pool tables and TVs with sports on. Good food there too which was cheaper for the backpackers

Heel leuk hostel! Dit was ons laatste hostel van de reis en het viel me op dat hier veel Nededlanders zaten en dat de keuken luxe was. Er waren veel pannen, borden en bestek. De grote tvroom met een Netflix account zorgt ook voor leuke aanspraak. Misschien is dit hostel ietsjes duurder, maar ik vind dat het waard.
