Simple room in a quiet location. We enjoyed the outdoor areas for sunset drinks and snacks and the pool was lovely. Friendly staff. We booked a double room which was pretty compact but the bathroom was a good size. Next time, we would book a larger room.

Stayed here wth my family for three nights - we booked three rooms! Rooms were clean and cosy, came with a fridge, kettle and some glasses + cups and tea etc. The pool and outdoor seating was lovely. The surrounding grounds are lovely. We said hello to the cows and a horse that lived on the adjoining property. Close to town (15 min walk or a 2 min drive). Ellie was so friendly and helpful. Will stay here again!

Stayed for 3 nights. Is a 4 star hotel but doesn't have the extras usually supplied in a 4 star hotel like shower gel only a very small square of soap and cheap toilet paper.

Very nice rooms with continental breakfast thrown in, lovely dining room with excellent choices, beautiful meals and the staff were exceptional, l would recommend it to everyone. We will go back again .

Stayed here whilst on my placement for nursing by myself which I was a bit nervous about.. however the staff were AMAZING! They constantly checked in on me and were so caring. My room was cleaned everyday and was perfect size for myself. I ate at the restaurant having the pasta which was delicious. Would recommend for everyone to stay here, so close to the main strip of shops, surrounded by amazing walks and the staff and facility being well worth my time.

Located on the same grounds as the Beechworth asylum which was ideal if you want to do the asylum tours. The room was clean, simple & has a bar fridge.
Has basic tea & coffee facilities in room & two bottles of water. The room was good for one person, could be a little tight if there were two.
The breakfast was good, poached eggs, bacon & a fruit smoothie. Outside was a decent looking swimming pool & bbq facilities. Be great during summer.

We stayed at The GeorgecKerferd hotel as a family. Rooms were clean and comfortable and warm. Enjoyed coffee in the morning. Has it's own fridge and kettle with coffee. Restourant is beautiful. Ellie helped us at the desk. A beautiful and friendly lady. Room was cleaned up the next morning. Thank you for a memorable experience. Loved every moment.

Good Hotel in Beechworth. We
We had 2 Continental Breakfasts and 2 dinner here and all 3 were very good. Lovely friendly staff. We stayed at their old nursing quarters called Linika House which was fine.
J. S.
The service and food was awesome. Try the steak it's amazing.
B. T.
Extremely friendly staff, the room was great value for the price. Food through the kitchen was very nice and good quality, staff and chef happily altered a meal to cater for it to be gluten free. The continental breakfast even had many gluten free options available. Would highly recommend and stay again. Great location and easily found.

Excellent and friendly service that went above and beyond for us. Was so lovely and relaxing to have a laugh with friends and staff. Food was amazing and we will definitely be back!

We happen to visit Beechworth after being at home for almost 10 months with outgoing anywhere due to covid-19 outbreak. We stayed 3 nights at George Kerford Hotel and it was a remarkable stay. The Manager and the staff were all very polite helpful and informative. All the services that they offered were excellent. Although the building itself shows signs of a new fresh look in the near future. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy a meal at their restaurant, as we planned to have it on the final night. It was closed due to the Australia day weekend. After all, we have left some jewelry on our day of check out, they informed us on our way over the phone to Melbourne and it was returned to us via post in few days. Excellent! Keep up the trends of hospitality at your best. Good Luck.

Amazing location with a lot of history. Hotel laid back, relaxed and friendly. Our room was a little lacking in personality but perfectly adequate. Fantastic old trees in the grounds
K. K.
Wonderful little place. The service is excellent and friendly. The menu is short but the food is amazing. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
g. h.
A lovely location, and great facilities. The room was clean and large.

One of the best steak ever had. It was so juicy and tender. Cooked to perfection. The price was reasonable. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Totally recommend if you are in the area.

My partner and I came for the Beechworth bakery Christmas party and you guys did an amazing job hosting and catering for all of us. Many thanks. We also stayed the night in one of your double rooms. Nice and cozy and comfortable. Was a beautiful stay. 😊

Incredibly experience. We booked a family room through booking.com who booked the completely wrong room! We were exhausted and have a 10 month old baby plus couldn't afford to split everyone up into separate rooms. The manager Kieran helped us out into suitable rooms so we didn't have to continue driving back to Melbourne with a baby after driving from NSW and sitting at the border for ages.
All of the staff are Incredibly friendly and welcoming. Kieran, Ellie and Karen made us all feel so welcome and were helpful with anything we needed.
They usually do a buffet continental breakfast but to be Covid complient they have adapted well to still offer something to their customers. I cant express enough how much care and love they put into their customer service.
We were happy with the room and facilities, the grounds are beautiful and isn't far from everything in town. We'll definitely be back and can't express enough thanks to the team for everything.
Will definitely book direct though as booking.com are a joke and make everything difficult for the customer and the hotel.
Thanks again Kieran, Ellie and Karen!

Dinner was very nice! And they accommodated my keto 🥰😋

Steak was amazing, staff were super kind and helpful.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience at the George Kerford. The employees were approachable and kind. And the live entertainment on Friday was a fun, even though we visited during off peak so the atmosphere was a bit slow. The location was convenient and easy to find.
The room itself was a bit small, and the bedding not as comfortable as other comparable hotels I’ve stayed at. The TV is mounted to the ceiling as well, which was a bit uncomfortable. A pretty basic room, but fine for a weekend stay. The only real downside was that our room was not serviced one day.
I. G.
A very reasonable priced place and you get what is expected. The rooms were comfortable enough, if not a little too much on the small side. It's definitely a good home base for exploring Beechworth and the surrounds. Although we didn't try to free continental breakfast, I appreciate that it's included in the price. We would return when coming back to Beechworth in the future.
B. A.
Fantastic meal! Best I've had in a while. The price was very reasonable too. I'd definitely come back for more if I lived locally.

Some people are really harsh on the reviews but I have no complaints whatsoever. We stayed at the Linaker Quarters, but were required to check-in at George Kerferd only a couple hundred metres away. After receiving comprehensive emails and texts on directions to the hotel, we checked-in and collected our key efficiently. The next morning, we were treated to the lovely free buffet breakfast. Thanks to the staff!

Fantastic!!! This place has a really wonderful atmosphere, food is amazing and Chris and the team really make you feel welcome, third time here and we will be back again ASAP
T. S.
The staff were very friendly & welcoming, service & food were excellent. Surrounds are beautiful, the atmosphere was very relaxing. The rooms are very clean but need a paint & recarpeting
J. A.
Lovely spot for a festival, but the staff seem to get overwhelmed by big events and groups. Rooms are small but nice, and I love how they're making an effort to restore the Art Deco-era look in the Linaker building. The restaurant has a limited and pricey menu. Great selection of local beer and wine at the bar.
B. G.
Highly recommend. Just finished the most amazing meal. The staff are so friendly and make you feel welcomed. Plus the price is good to. Thank you to The George kerferd!
A. O.
Lovely staff and staying at the former Mayday Hills is a treat. The historic buildings are 150+ years old and are apart of only a few such buildings you will ever see in Australia.
Make sure you do an Asylum Ghost Tour to fully enjoy experience
K. F.
Beautiful food and extremely friendly staff
K. M.
Fabulous food, staff and great accommodation. Easily the best value for money in town
c. k.
Good place Quite but the shower was real bad 👎
R. W.
Came to see Pete Denahy play in the restaurant & opted to stay. Great meal as always. Rooms are very affordable & nicely presented although no spare blankets or electric blankets made for a cold night. For some reason the air conditioner couldn't really heat the room. Hopefully that was just an anomaly with our room
C. H.
Waited 5 minutes for someone to "appear" at reception. Water pressure for the shower was terrible (non-existent). Included breakfast was ordinary. It was like the staff just didn't care. Lack of care also showed in the cobwebs all around the place. Only consolation was the bed was comfortable.
A. C.
Pleasant room but it didn't blow us away for the price paid per night. Rooms were clean and tidy, but quite dated, run down and there were dead pot plants outside. It's in need of a revamp.
A. W.
Amazing place to stay, fantastic top quality food! Would highly recommended it to anyone wanting to escape the city to a beautiful part of the North East. Its walking distance from the middle of town, Lake Sambell and is situated in a prime location. 10/10
C. K.
Great meal enjoyable night celebrating

We stayed here for a few days the staff are fantastic friendly and very helpful when it came to suggestions for things to do in the area. So close to the beautiful King Valley and Stanley and Mount Buffalo just to name a few areas that we day tripped too. The hotel itself is set in the grounds of what was Mayday Hills, Beechworth Hospital. What a fantastic place. There is the option of the GK Hotel and also the Linaker building which is a 1930's Art Deco building which originally was the the nurses quarters. They have beautiful established gardens and so close (walking distance) to the Historic town of Beechworth. There was a wedding in progress when we arrived, and we thought what great setting to get married in. They have a chapel on the grounds as well as a great restaurant and functions room, where they had the reception and to top it off they are also right next door to The Spa at Beechworth.
The first night we ate at the restaurant "Georges" , then we had breakfast the next morning and then lunch , we knew we had to try other restaurants in the area which we did , but seriously we could have just stayed at the George and ate our way through the menu. It has a french bistro fare that is to die for. The Chef Tim is really kicking goals there.
We highly recommend The George Kerferd Hotel for anyone visiting the NE of Victoria . It is so central to everything.
J.
Clean cosy rooms, excellent reception staff. Restaurant within great and great service.
Many gluten free options available for breakfast, thank you so much
B. M.

Situated in parkland near the Asylum. clean rooms with a breakfast included overall service in the hotel good. Nice place to have quiet drink on a summers afternoon on a front patio near the bar.
W. K.
Great atmosphere in a beautiful garden setting
J. J.
Rooms were warm and clean. Great atmosphere at the asylum. Stayed after doing a ghost tour. Great bar staff. Loved the place. We will return
P. C.
Gorgeous hotel. We stayed in the former Nurse's Quarters at the Asylum, and the rooms were some of the best for the price I have ever seen. Highly recommend this place if you need to spend a few nights.
G. K.
This is our second visit and I have to say that we love this place. We have made 7 or 8 trips to Beechworth in the last 5 years and this is by far the best. Last time we visited it was autumn. The colours sites and sounds. Awesome does not describe it adequately.
G. R.
The staff at the George Kerford Hotel were friendly and extremely helpful. Dinner was delicious. Highly recommend.

As google does not allow a business to respond to guest reviews I thought that I would post my response in the form of a review.
In response to a review posted by the user Lyn Doughty regarding their stay with us on Saturday the 18th of November.
At The George Kerferd we do not and have never charged for wifi. Upon inspection of the room we found no evidence of cobwebs or sub-standard cleanliness as indicated in the review.
In addition, at the time of writing the guests account with us remains outstanding.
We do appreciate guests reviews and take all guest feedback seriously
Best regards,

Really good place to stay. Ask for a quiet room. Management are exceptional. Food is pretty good too.
R. J.
Lovely accomodation with a continental breakfast. Quaint room on the grounds of the old Beechworth Asylum. We were able to walk to a ghost tour. Driving distance to main street.
M. N.
Great location set amongst mature trees and gardens... very comfortable rooms and beds... located in an Art Deco style building... lift access was important as not everyone in our group could manage stairs... efficient air conditioning was appreciated as the temp reached 39C.. live music Friday night accompanied by delicious local wine and a generous tasting plate.... highly recommended !
B. H.
The grounds are marvellous with magnificent trees. The accommodation is not posh but charming, and there is a good size bedroom, a nice separate bathroom and a sitting room.
M. S.
Grounds are beautiful, staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but maintained well and fully equipped. The fridge is helpful with a family.
R. C.
Part of my fiance and I's search for a wedding venue. Chris was very accommodating and his flexibility was very refreshing. We were very impressed with the set up as a whole and The George Kerferd has definitely made our shortlist.
R. W.
Went to the George Kerford for our grandsons deb. Good venue for such an occassion. We were all pleased with the night there. Friendly staff.
A. C.
Close to the event, no frills and warm room. Service was alright, and check-in was extremely fast. We attended a function which was in the same building and the size suited the amount of attendees.
