Quite run down and very basic but decent value. Location is pretty good, close to Southern Cross and not too far to get to Fed Square and the tennis. Service was reasonable. We appeared to have the smallest room down in the basement next to a broom cupboard and people were yelling at 2am which woke us up.

Quiet and comfortable. Good service and clean room. One slow elevator for 2 persons only and no restaurant due to civid? Worked well for our overnight stay.
E. M.
Room was ok, for the price I expected a double bed not 2 singles pushed together. Bit of a palaver booking in. Booking was in hubby's name so they wouldn't accept my credit card, even though they have the same surname.
F. P.
Its a decent hotel, there's beds, the rooms are clean, no windows in the lower rooms that I've experienced
M. P.
5 stars, but not because it is 5STAR accommodation, i think it rates itself as 3... but value for money... perfect. The only thing you may question for the bathroom i had was the floor looked dirty, but it was just a bad paint job over tiles.... way cleaner than other hotels iv been in
B. W.
The hotel is conveniently located near Southern cross station and is reasonably priced. The service I received was good and the room was clean. The room had the bare essentials, which was all I needed. I'll definitely stay at this hotel again.
My advice to others is to not have amazing expectations of this hotel. If you are looking for a clean, decently priced and good location, then this hotel is fine. If you are looking for 5 star facilities or anything other than the bare essentials, then better go elsewhere.

Good customer service. Quick and easy only bookings. However the room is a bit small and the bedding was not very clean. The only toiletries provided were shampoo and two soap bars. Location is great though - opposite Southern Cross Station which is easy to access Skybus to and from airport and near tram travelling in free tram zone towards city.
D. K.
Great location, friendly and efficient staff at check in, nice and different hotel but fantastic rooms (if you don't mind the window into a large courtyard). Clean, modern, all the things you need but not over the top. Great value specials and perfect stay midweek near Flinders and Spencer Street and Southern Cross. I'll be back soon.
J. W.
Great place to stay, quick check in, room was nice & clean, very comfortable. Great location, not far to Crown & the discount shopping centre in Spencer St. We found it on line & when ringing the motel direct, we were able to get it a bit cheaper. Parked O/nite at the Crown for $10! Very happy, we'll be back
T. P.
Very clean and comfy bed. Evening shower was cold but improved in the morning. Great location, walking distance to Crown Casino.
S. S.
The location of the hotel is excellent! It was 5min walk to the souther cross station and tram station toward city. Because is near to the tram trail thus a bit noisy in the midnight. The room was tiny n clean, reception was 24hours (friendly n helpful).
F. S.
Very convenient as the location. Southern Cross station and tram stops are just within a minute from the hotel. Staff is polite and accommodating. Rooms are clean, and does not smell. You can hear the traffic noise outside if room is booked on the side of Spencer street, but does not disturb with sleep. Would come back again! Cheers!

Good place. I spent 3 days of isolation after arrival in Australia
K. B.
Budget hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Adjacent to Southern Cross Station. Room is clean will all you need including tea /coffee facilities. For $275.44 for 4 nights I would stay again 👍
J. C.
I've stayed many times and always been happy with the check-in process and the room. Its great value for an affordable price.
I was going to return but COVID resulted in Sydney becoming a hotspot. This hotel was completely accommodating of my needs to cancel. Honestly, when you get the chance please stay with them! They're great.
D. T.
Very convenient location, clean and and cosy rooms and great for the price
A. E. A.
Value for money. Great location. Basic, clean hotel room. 1 star deducted for poor shower head type and towel rack placement is too far from the shower
D. V.
We stayed here on easter 2021. Very good value for money and parking available. Definitely coming back. Not a stunning hotel but clean and tidy. I would come back. Lifts are too slow and poor maintained.

It's clean and good value. But if your afraid of heights.. They have exposed inner core of the building.. Great for a quick smoke, bad if hate heights like me.
L. M.
Beautiful friendly staff that are willing to help you in any way possible.
Quiet rooms, in room safe, clean and easy room access.
I will be returning very soon and i definitely will be telling my local wimmera area friends how lovely this place is.
D. L.
Hotel close and convenient to all we wanted to see and do, or transport readily available close by. Staff friendly and very helpful. We have stayed here several times, and will stay here avain. Thankyou for a pleasant stay

Highly underrated hotel opposite Southern Cross station. Rooms were clean and modern. The basic Queen room had tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge, desk and chair, bed, TV, safe, shower over bath, pull-out clothes line and blackout curtains. Staff were friendly and helpful. Paying for extras like breakfast and housekeeping only as you needed them was great, and the housekeeping was very thorough. Really good value for money.
K. G.
Nice location, cheap price per night, and pleasant and helpful staff are the highlights of this hotel. Rooms are basic, but have all necessities and a safe. Location is great, right next to the river and ten minutes from downtown/CBD by tram or train.
I can only speak for the room I had, so your mileage may vary. The bathroom door didn't have a lock. The bathroom window was locked, so the only way to ventilate was to leave the air extractor on. There were no soft night lights in our room, so every time I wanted to go the bathroom at night, I had to wake up my partner with a full blast of lamp light. Every time somebody in the room next door was taking a shower, I could listen to the loud noise of water flowing with pressure through the different pipes. This woke me up on the first day and it took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on.
Overall, good value for money, but a few simple touches can make it even better.
C. T. D.
I stayed for one night. Great room and service but I ended up getting lost because the arrows to my room where the wrong direction down the stairs. Can't complain about anything else :)
L. D. G.
+quiet room and had a good sleep, very close to Southern Cross Station, big room, big beds, bathtub and hot shower works great.
- a bit dated room, top beddings need a wash, aircon took a while to cool.
M. J.
Grate southern hotel is the perfect place in Melbourne love staying there every time I visit Melbourne closer to shops and supermarkets fantastic staff love staying their rooms are perfect closer to train services and marvel stadium
H. S.
Clean room although very small. Strange hotel is like an old prison. Great southern railway station across the road. Area is a daunting.
D. S.
Great location, reasonable price, clean and big room. Great customer service ,
But 4 stars because have smoked smell
Otherwise, all prefect .
A. W.
Great that's its close and handy to all the places in the city such as crown and sea life aquarium. Though not a fan of the shower. Also, husband says to me... Is this your hair... Um no... Throws blanket off...
But, priced very well for the location and good parking location with 24hr access.
R.
I have stayed here before the staff are really friendly and are happy to help you in any way they can.I recommend this hote the rooms are nice good value for money considering the hotels location. AAA+
M. J. F. l.
Location excellent, however when hot water wouldn't work after running for 10 mins, we were told run it for 1/4 to 1/2 hour as it will come good eventually (which it did).
m.
You cannot fault the friendliness of the staff and their eagerness to help.
It was a micro sized room and not something I'm used to. If you can get past the sparseness of the room and amenities then its fine.
T. O.
Great service, nice rooms, friendly staff, and an overall lovely stay. The restaurant had beautiful food, and lovely breakfasts. It was close to just about everything in the city, including the Royal Women's Hospital. Took great photos from outside of the room we were staying in. Would recommend it.
N.
Although a lot of people had complained about their rooms and experience down in the comments below, mine was very cozy and I had spent a quiet and peaceful night here. Everything’s clean and the bed was comfortable. There were some cracks on the wall and tables but those didn’t bother me. The aircon was very strong though so if you’re afraid of cold rooms you might want to think about it. But overall speaking I really enjoyed staying at this hotel considering the price was cheap. The reception staff were also very friendly.
K. M.
Location was convenient for places we were planning to see. Room was nice but not set up as a twin room when we arrive. Staff was quick to rectify. Full wall mirror in bathroom gives illusion of space but seeing yourself on the toilet is a little disconcerting. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
F. H.
Clean, serviceable (very reasonably priced laundry facilities on site, parking available for additional fee), secure, and well located in the Central Business District very near Southern Cross Station. The staff is hospitable (particularly the housekeeping staff who were so friendly and helpful), knowledgeable, and always available. We would make this our home base again while staying in Melbourne.
c. w.
Easy to come and go at all hours. Late checkout was good. Room had a bit of a funky smell though
E. M.
Pretty much what we expected for such a low price- great location and fairly basic/standard room. Except for the shower, which was horrendous. The water would suddenly turn scalding hot without touching any taps... staff already seemed to know about this and we think most rooms may be the same.
Not a great bed, but staff were great and the open-air design in the main part of the hotel was pretty cool.
There is a restaurant on site which we did not eat at but looked alright.
Hotel also has washing facilities for coin use and lots of pamphlets in the lobby with good discounts (we picked up one for the Comics Lounge which had 4 free tickets).
H. K.
Location, location, location! 1 minute walk from Southern Cross Station and an easy walk to Crown Casino and Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Basic facilities but everything you need at a budget price. Surprisingly a very quiet room even though it was in the atrium (which I like because it doesn't feel claustrophobic). Have added an edit here as we stayed again for one night and got a room on the ground floor in the atrium this time. This room was noisy and not enjoyable. We had to carry our cases down a lot of stairs - so my advice is to say that this is an issue for you so you don't get one of these rooms. There's also no overhead shelter so we had to walk in the rain to our room. We did get it at a budget price but when we asked to stay another night they said the room was available but it would cost $239. No Way I'd Pay That! The room up higher was nice and dark as they've installed new blockout blinds on the windows. Nice big shower which was hot. We also ate at the restaurant one night and the food was awesome and very reasonably priced. Have been staying here for years and will keep coming back.
P. T.
Friendly service and really good value for what you get. It is also an excellent location right near southern cross station and they have 24hr reception. It was fairly quiet too considering we were right in the city. I would specify on booking if you need a room that does not require stair access.
D. M.
Small but functional has everything you need.
H. B.
Good, clean, minimal frills hotel that is located in a great spot close to Southern Cross station, MCEC, Crown and Marvel Stadium. Perfect for the budget conscious who would like a safe place to leave their items and rest their heads. Bed is comfortably, on the harder end of the spectrum. Shower has excellent pressure. Staff are extremely helpful and curteous, and each stay we've had has been a pleasant experience. Can't fault them
H. V.
For a low budget hotel shared with 2 other friends, it was very pleasant. Basic necessities were very good, and customer reception service was friendly. However, as a local, the Internet pricing was fairly expensive. It was overpriced at $22 an hour in my opinion, could've just went down southern cross station and get free Internet there. Perhaps they should offer free Internet to guests staying as part of welcome package.
But overall a great stay.

Always enjoy staying at the Great Southern. This was my third time, and first time in a family room. The room was clean and well equipped, with a great view. Staff are friendly and helpful. Security deposit is very reasonable. Luggage cloaking service is also great. The hotel is located very close to southern cross station.

I stayed 4 nights at the Great Southern Hotel during a recent work trip. The hotel's location is very central...within walking distance to Southern Cross Station, restaurants, Southbank (and more restaurants!) and tram stops. The room was reasonably sized and clean. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable. However, due to the age of the hotel, the sound insulation is pretty poor. I could hear other hotel guests in the hallway, as well as when they were on the stairs! My room was located next to one of the lifts. Thankfully, that lift was out of service. Can't imagine how much more noise that would have generated! The full breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was good value - there was quite a good selection and the food was reasonably tasty. There is one thing worth pointing out however. Given that the hotel room rates are a lot cheaper than surrounding hotels, during my stay, I noted that the Great Southern Hotel is very popular with Chinese tour groups. There were a couple of mornings when the restaurant was packed, and on a few mornings, there was a bit of a wait at check out time because a tour group was checking out. Note: the hotel does not offer express check out. Nonetheless, despite the few negative aspects experienced, the hotel is good value in terms of location and its reasonable room rates.

Reception staff are prompt once you enter the foyer. I booked the King Suite and it was generous in terms of space. Lovely layout of the room, natural lighting comes through frosted glass in the bathroom. An above decent place if you need to stay the night in the city.
F. G.
Great location, very close to Southern Cross station. Clean rooms and decent space. Well priced. Air con didn't work but there was an extra blanket in the room and it wasn't too cold. Freezer in provided bar fridge was leaking thawed frost into fridge contents. Carpet in common areas was falling apart. Lifts seemed unusually slow. Overall a pleasant stay.
M. M.
Great location and friendly staff but they are way behind the competition in terms of their facilities and processes. Charges on wifi with limited data is not a great experience for someone who is traveling for work. Plus charges on parking. The process is very old-school. You need to collect food vouchers from the reception if you have taken the breakfast included option (why can't you just walk in and give you room no.?). Overall the experience was decent but there are other hotels in the same area with better facilities for the same price range.
y. L.
Had a pleasant day. Staff was friendly and the room is literally what you get from the picture ( in a good way). Room was small BUT it was worth the money also the toilet is clean and pretty big. However there is only 1 roll of toilet paper based on what i know.( Had a bloody bad stomach ache during the stay n was in the toilet for an hour<ate hungry jack at the southern cross station> maybe that could be the reason? You can ask for more toilet paper from the friendly hotel staff. Would give 5 stars but there is a slight and pretty dumb architecture problem. On the 6th floor there's a lift up but then after that there were 4 steps of stairs on the floor.( pretty much it) just imagine if u had very heavy luggage and is pretty wiped out from your flight.
C. I.
I had a positive experience here. Booked a small queen room and it was small!! But it was all I needed. The bathroom was clean and I was happy that it had a fridge and a kettle. The location was great - especially if you’re heading to the airport on the Skybus.
R. W.
Staff were very polite and efficient, worked through a large checkout queue in no time. Room was small and bed was a bit dated, but all necessary amenities present and bathroom was nice. Very cheap and close to where we needed to be which was all that was required.
I. F.
Basic accommodation, but clean and mostly comfortable. Did not like the fact that there was a cigarette bin down from my room as the smoke tended to seep in. Hotel itself is quite dingy and feels a bit like a cheap motel. Having said that, the water pressure was excellent and the shower nice and hot. The bed was comfortable and the room well maintained. Stay here if you're travelling alone and want cheap, basic accommodation close to the CBD.
J. R.
Was covid time and lockdown felt secure with the way the Great Southern stayed Covid Safe, following propper proceedings for check-in wearing gloves etc
J. H.
A very pleasant hotel to stay in. The staff were very soft spoken and very kind. The rooms were big and comfy to stay in. I hope that the housekeeping can be improved tho. The view was beautiful. The hotel was very accessible. Thank you for the accommodation!
M. L.
Friendly staff, affordable options (stayed in family room). Good room service. Bed soft and can be uncomfortable depending what you're use to. Bathroom has no ventilation fan so mirror always fogs. Overall experience has been good and would recommend if anyone is looking to stay in the city of melbourne. The Southern Cross train station is a 2min walk which makes it a great location.
J. J. H.
The hotel is clean and very well located, close to the train station, the Yarra River area and inside the free team zone (be aware of this since is very useful to move around the city center). I didn't like the check in time (2.00 pm) and the check out (11.00pm), too late the first and kind of early the second, but they have a luggage room very convenient for people arriving early or leaving late. Some of the workers at the front desk are a bit rude, with not capability for offering an smile. Don't expect a good noting or welcome back when you pass through reception area. They have coffee, tea and cream in the hotel room. The WiFi is good but need to pay for it.
M. I.
Basic accomodation consistent with the price.
Location is very convenient.
Significant issue is the noise from passing trains so re-consider if you need a good nights sleep or ask for a room not facing Spencer St (Southern Cross).
S. V. G.
This was a reasonably affordable place for us to stay in the city as we had a wedding reception with a wedding breakfast following the next day. The rooms were nothing fancy, I just got a standard room, it was good for what I needed it for.
The staff at the desk were a bit confused with my booking, I booked 2 rooms for 2 couples and they couldn't find the name but eventually they did.
I wasn't aware of having to pay a bond on arrival though so that could be more clearly advertised as I had already paid for the room prior.
B. A.
My second stay at the Great Southern. It was as excellent as the first time. Comfy bed and pillows, fantastic location and the staff super friendly and professional. One small issue with the door key when first going to the room was solved quickly and efficiently by the staff. Would recommend.
K. K.
Always great staying here close to everything, but not happy that wasn't told now have to prebook the multi level carpark at a cost of $40 a night which was upsetting as was told was $25 night
M. D.
Cheap affordable hotel. Good cleanliness. Right in front of southern cross station. Conveniently close to Crown casino.
A. O.
Great location and the rooms themselves are great. However, the lifts are slow and are not sufficient to service the hotel guests. Furthermore no free Wi-Fi is provided, nor does the basic rate cover housekeeping. The "courtyard" rooms also involve making your way up and down stairs into a second adjacent building.
Makes up for the deficiencies with consistently cheap prices for a hotel of this class.
S. T.
Centrally located in the CBD with excellent access to public transportation, shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was a bit dark and carpet/hallway had a strong stale odor (Management, the carpet needs a DEEP cleaning).
M. H. -. T. T. B.
Stay 6nites on Feb 9-15. Highly recommend for budget private room. Great location in city centre, you can use free trem to anywhere in CBD area. Clean basic room with AC, flat TV, tea coffee making fasilities and shower nice private bathroom.

Highly recommended to all. Right in the heart of the city. You walk everywhere. Clean and cheap too. Suited my partner n I.

Very good deal but tiny tiny rooms... but when you try ro get a cheap deal... you get a cheap deal. So overall a great experience

Basic accomodation consistent with the price.

Excellent customer service, cheap and clean rooms for short stays, newly renovated, close to transportation. Would recommend staying here
J. R.
Stayed here for a day on my sydney trip during holidays. The place was clean and the reception is good. The locality wasn't the best (may be I went in with bit more expectation). The room was a bit small and conjusted yet manageable. The washroom was surprisingly spacious and well maintained. The lobbies were okayish. Over all its decent enough for the money you gotto pay.
A. B.
Great location. Walking distance to city are for shopping.
Hotel could do with a bit of revamping, little out dated.
Price reasonable for city although there are cheaper places in same area. But the convenient of the area is great.
A. T.
Stayed for 2 nights. The room was spacious and had the basic amenities. The service was outstanding, they even had someone to open the parking garage during after hours. The hallway, however, has an aroma of curry, depending on your preference this could be good or bad.
K. M.
Great location. Rooms could be a little cleaner but overall good value for the price.
R. L.
Mini double room is small but was clean and equipped with air cond. Bathroom, fridge tea coffee etc. All we needed for a couple of nights. Staff were all helpful and polite. Charges were reasonable. Pleasant stay thanks.
G. H.
Not a bad hotel, but I've stayed in nicer. It's quite basic and dated. It's in a decent location, right near southern Cross station, so is convenient if you get the bus from the airport. The beds aren't all that comfortable and you have to pay an exorbitant amount for wifi if you need it.
m. t.
This a great location to stay in Melb City if you need to attend an event at Marvel Stadium, overnite stay in transit for Southern Cross station, or shopping at DFO.
Price is spot on.
Rooms are clean and well appointed.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
(Thanks Veronika)
J. P.
Great location right in the CBD. Basic room was sufficient. After getting over the fact that the atrium looks like a prison the room was fine. Next day the continental breakfast was fantastic. Ended up dining at the restaurant for dinner too. Nice food.

Absolutely without out the greatest Hotel I've stayed out in Melbourne and that's a big core considering there are plenty of five-star hotels in Melbourne. The reason why I write this is the number one place in Melbourne is it's location just up the road from Southern Cross station just a walk or down around the corner to Flinder Street station it is centrally located in the CBD. It is easy access to Southern Cross station and the SkyBus to Melbourne Airport, it also has got good access to trains Metropolitan and regional at Southern Cross. Great access also to trams and buses. plenty of restaurants and great places to eat and have a drink. Facilities in the rooms are absolutely immaculate clean and housekeeping is friendly. The staff at concierge and in the restaurant and all throughout the hotel are amazing they are kind friendly genuine and overall willing to help you in any way possible. There is also a luggage hold room so if you need to put your luggage in there after you check out because you've got a few hours before your flight they are more than happy to hold that they're free of charge for you. And now for the absolutely number one reason why I stay at this place is the price you can get rooms there for a cheap as a $70 midweek and as cheap as $99 on the weekend this for what I would class as a 4 /4 1/2 star hotel is absolutely amazing value for money you can get breakfast in the adjoining restaurant the next morning. So thank you to all the staff at the Great Southern Hotel I hope you see this review because from the bottom of my heart thank you every time we stay there it is an absolute pleasure and joy we love it.
J. M.
Stayed in the newer part of the hotel. Smaller rooms. But for the price was incredibly good. Big comfy king bed. Very clean. Bathroom immaculate. Can't complain at all. Will stay again!
J. P.
Good location, located opposite the busy southern cross station, freindly staff and clean rooms. There is a laundrette downstairs which is very ideal for travellers on the move. Rooms are slightly on small side but for the price its good value.
M. R.
Photos make it look a bit better, the cheap rooms are in what basically looks like a garage out the back of the hotel.
The room is fine, just standard and what we were expecting. (Bathroom is pretty nice)
Not bad for a budget hotel
S. C.
If you're just looking for a very central place to stay for cheap to moderate rates then this is the place. If you plan on spending any time in the hotel room, look elsewhere.
The staff while quite friendly come off as unmotivated and incompetent at times. And if you need wifi, buy a sim. Astronomically priced here. Even the staff laugh at the rates. They also have some very strange cleaning policies. As an example, the floors only get vacuumed once every 3 days. We had to put a do not disturb on our door because our baby was asleep, without knowing this. Of course that meant we had about 5 days worth of dust and crap on the floor when we checked out.
My stay here was OK, not great by any means whatsoever. But I'm definitely not staying there again.
B. T.
Had a pleasant stay for a night here. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, and convenience store around the hotel, which is great. It’s also close to public transport access (tram, train station).
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are featured with heater/aircon, mini fridge, TV, safe box, iron, etc. Extra pillows and comforter available in the cupboard. There’s dry cleaning service and self-serve laundry. You have to pay extra for Wi-Fi though ($3 for 1GB).
C. B.
Good price, very nice courtyard room with window. Clean, modern bathroom. Polite staff. Ideal base for tours, trains, etc as a 2 minute walk to Southern Cross railway station and bus terminal. Wifi available for a small fee, $3 per day in 2017. Easy walk to Bourke St mall, free city circle tram, Aquarium, restaurants and CBD.
M. T.
Rooms here are extemly clean , very comfortable from the standard right through to deluxe, superior. All staff are very proffesional and tentative to my needs, A very special mention to the night Team Greg, Bilal who go out of their way to assist and help in anyway possible. Position of hotel is central and accessible to all Melbourne has to offer,
Breakfast was great, restaurant staff also fantastic!! I highly recommend the great southern hotel!! Prices are very reasonable, Great!! Thank you!!
N. B.
Good value, convenient location. Keep in mind this is a budget hotel. The rooms are basic but clean. Parking is not included and will cost $25 a night. The on site parking was full so we were given a spot in the parking complex down the street.
A. A.
The rooms are ok but you have to pay for literally every other service that would be considered "amenities" in other hotels. This includes stuff like wifi, housekeeping etc. Also, the view from our room was directly facing a wall to another building. Not exactly ideal
Y. I.
I was a bit skeptical about this because I saw only 3 stars but the price was really good, so I booked it through Expedia. When I arrived, at the reception they told me that I got a free upgrade from a double/queen room to a family room. I asked for a room with a bathtub which I also got. The room is HUGE and very clean and the staff really helpful and kind. Definitely recommended!
H. K.
We had a rough start with a key to our room accidently given to some other guests who intruded our room at 11pm. We received poor service from the night reception staff however the morning manager was very professional and dealt with the situation providing a refund and room upgrade. Location is very convenient close to the city and transport.
K. G.
Great hotel in a brilliant location with evrrything just a short walk away. Staff have been very professional, polite and friendly which makes our stay even more enjoyable. Clean rooms with all you need for a short stay in Melbourne. Highly recommend this hotel.
G. H.
Okay hotel, room was clean and spacious, aircon didn't work well even after calls to reception. Parking was good, check-in staff were friendly.
M. S.
Great value, comfortable beds, awesome shower, great size room, clean and quiet. Perfect location with access to all transport options. Would definitely stay here again
A. S.
What a great place, tidy, quiet, most comfortable bed, great location, so close to everything even the casino, southern cross!! Will stay here again
J. T.
We have stayed here on a few occasions and have never been disappointed with allocated rooms or services provided. We have just spent 3 nights, returning to Adelaide yesterday and again we were VERY happy with all the services offered by the pleasant staff throughout. Who ever was given the task of servicing or room did a great job and we thank them for it. Another big plus for us was the fact that due to circumstances beyond our control we had to make a change to our visiting dates. Again this was dealt with without fuss or penalties, again we thank all the staff and without doubt you will be seeing us again.
Thankyou
V. M.
It was very nice, but we had a room were you can hear tram's and train's . For the first night, I could not sleep. You have to go down stairs to have breakfast.
That's ok. 😊
R. E.
Very good value. Breakfast and rooms really good, as well as location. Just reception floors and lift floors could do with upgrade. Otherwise happy to stay again.
T. G.
The best thing about this hotel is the location, right by Southern Station and around the corner from a few tram stops. The rooms, if you get the superior rooms, are good although don't expect to sleep on the best beds. The worst thing I'd say is Internet and lockers for suitcases aren't free, which It's pretty primitive these days. Some of the staff aren't particularly the friendliest people, but it's an ok place for a couple of nights.
F. S.
We picked this as a low priced room for one night. We booked the next night closer to the centre. Still it was a good location between the centre and the convention centre and DFOs. What a nice surprise to go into a fully refurbished room. And windows open. Feb 2019
J. C.
This hotel had been refurbished and now offers very well laid out rooms, nice comfortable beds clean and bright with nice large showers. Close to the Southern Cross Station and easy access to South Bank, the Casino and The C B D etc.
P. W.
Not what I expected for the price. Exceptional value. Clean and tidy room which is large enough for 2 adults.
a. g.
We had a nice time. Parking is difficult to find but for the money the room we stayed in was good value.
K. P.
Was given a smaller room then what I had paid for.
Was given a Mini Double Room instead of Standard Queen Room.
The room was clean and had tea, coffee, milk, small bar fridge etc
It's close to Southern cross station/CBD which was a huge plus .
Finding vegetarian food outlets was very easy, heaps of Indian vegetarian food on nearby King street
Was a 'no frills' experience, you get what you pay for
Reception charges $2 per bag if you come earlier than 2pm for check-in, which was not bad.
You can also checkout and leave your bags for the rest of the day for $2 per bag.

It's clean but the courtyard rooms resemble a motel/jail? Very cold room (in July) with a very loud heating unit that clicks, plus you can hear other guests in the courtyard while in your unit. Front desk service was friendly. Didn't use any other amenities.
R. (.
Great location - just across the road from airport Skybus drop off and pick up. Easy access (about 50 metres) to free trams to the tennis. Clean and comfortable but if you are a light sleeper, BRING YOUR EARPLUGS! Very loud road/rail noise. Apart from that, all good :)
T. M.
The courtyard looks like a correctional facility. Internet is an additional charge. In 2018, this is like charging for hot water. Internet wasnt particularly expensive, but I had to go all the way down to the lobby to get a coupon to connect. Clean, good location. Decent value regardless, but they can do better.
B. W.
Cheap and cheerful. The floors inside the courtyard get very slippery when wet, they might need to put some outdoor tiles on the floor instead of indoor tiles, but if that's my only complaint then that's pretty good considering the price.
T. T.
Loved our experience, staff were nice and helpful. The restaurant connected was good :)
We liked it for a 5 night stay, no fuss room which was cleaned each day and it was simply nice.
Close to the trams and stations
C. S.
I stayed in a Classic Room. Although not very big, it was clean, relatively new and very well priced. I could have stayed somewhere much bigger, much flashier and much more expensive. As with all hotel stays, no matter what I paid, the real test is whether I would stay there again. I would if budget was one of the main factors
N. S. N.
Very nice, pleasant staff, clean rooms, comfy bed. and all at a reasonable price.
As we were attending an event at the Exhibition Centre and travelling by train, it was ideally positioned.
We will return and will recommend it to family and friends.
s. t.
Impressive. Close to everything, very efficient service, very pleasant staff and the beds, are massive. Never seen beds this size in my life. All the modcons. You won't be disappointed!
C. C.
This is a very warm and inviting venue. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind the fact that we had a toddler with us. The Parma was excellent all 4 of us actually had it. Chips were cooked perfect and the salad was nice and fresh
A. J.
Clean but no-frills hotel (e.g. no mini-bar and no room service). Perhaps one of the best things about the hotel is the great location (close to both the casino and Spencer Street Station). The pictures on the walls in the hall (at least on level 4) were quite interesting. If Google would allow me to award 3.5 stars, I would have.
N. D.
Located near the river in central Melbourne, this budget hotel was very nice. Modern comfy rooms, nice bathroom. My only complaint would be charging for Wifi. Time for Australia to wake up. Its not the dark ages any more. Who seriously charges for Wifi in 2017
D. D.
Great price. Cash safety deposit. Centrally located. Clean. Friendly staff. Amazing food. Free upgrade. Amazing. The place is one of Melbournes cheapest hotels. Not motel. But hotel. Rooms from as little as $70 a noght midweek and even as cheap as $100 a night during weekends and peak times. Less then 5 minutes walk to southern cross station. 5-10 minites to fed square and 5-10 minutes to croen casino and complex. Trams right outside your door. Amazing kind and friendly staff.
J.
You get what you pay for, a room that is clean, safe and small. Dont expect too much for the price tag but its a good location to stay if your heading to Docklands to watch the footy.
B. O.
The hotel is nice, and the staff is professional. However, it is the first time for me to have parking NOT included in the stay. And WiFi as well. All together that's almost $50 of additional costs on top of the booking price.
g. e.
Lovely friendly family hotel, all room types to suit all travellers, we have stayed the on a number of occasions as it is just across the road from Southern Cross railway station and the tram service to Port Melbourne for cruise ships etc.so a great placxe to stay and a very good restuarant as well. will always use this hotel whn in Melbourne.
A. R.
Some guests mentioned bathroom cleanliness could be improved · Some guests commented maintenance could be improved
L. W.
Very good value for money (though I got my room half price). Free upgrade. Staff fairly friendly. No drama to leave my gear early.
R. D.
Staff are friendly and welcoming. We could check in early. The room is spotless and modern industrial. It is a basic room but great value for the price.
K. N.
Located at the heart of Melbourne CBD. The rooms are spacious and pretty decent. They take 2$ per piece for luggage storing if you arrive earlier than your check in time. Advance deposit of 50$ as cash is taken during check-in which is refundable during the time checkout. If paid by card takes 7 working days for refund. Falls in the free tram zone. Lot of 711s and restaurants near by. Cooking is not allowed inside the room. There is just one water heater for coffee and stuffs. Freezed or instant food can be microwaved at the reception any time.
L. N.
Good price, good location. Staff were nice and helpful. Rooms were fairly nice but queen bed was just 2 singles pushed together and wasn't overly comfortable.
A. F.
Rating 3 stars because we were not old upon check in that there was absolutely no mobile service or coverage in our room (Optus network). I didn't want to pay wifi fees so having to walk down to reception just to use my phone is incredibly annoying.
No opportunity to switch rooms.
We only booked for one night and despite your general service being fine, having no coverage in the room is just an inconvenience.
L. O.
3 stars definitely..had one of the bigger king rooms and had a great sleep for the 2nites we were there..just an issue with the toiletries please..more soap and shampoo!
L. Z.
Room is much smaller than picture and equipment is good. But the carpet is not so clean as I can see spots clearly.
Y. M.
Great place for budget price. Air con. Safe. Great shower towels tea tray. Iron and board
Tv and opp southern cross good service and luggage storage brilliant
I. S.
The location is great, right infront of the Southern Cross Station. The rooms are small but clean and cozy. It's a great place to stay if all you want is a place to crash for the night after a long day of sightseeing.
A. S.
Rooms are nice size and the addition of an air on makes it great in summer. TV is at a weird angle and have to lay on your side to view it. But overall, not bad
M. T.
Great location. The room was blisteringly hot however as the air con was set to heat mode. We needed to get a fan brought in and have the hotel door open to allow air to circulate.
H. S.
Great central location minutes from Southern Cross station and SkyBus. Cheapest rooms are tiny but clean. Not too noisy. Don't expect much, just appreciate it's location.
k. g.
On the date we visited, there was a cheerleading convention on and quite a few were in this hotel running around until about 2.30am, the noise just seemed to echo 😠, room was comfortable with tea and coffee 👍, beds were comfy and bathroom was clean, tv remote was a bit battered, staff were friendly and helpful
I. s.
Great service..
Cleaning staff in the morning are loud though, payed for late check out and could hardly sleep after 10am..
R. S.
Rooms and bathrooms are clean and quite spacious (3 bed occupancy). Guests have to take their own luggage and trolly is provided by hotel. Secure Car parking charges are AUD20 /day. Lobby is comfortable and luggage room is provided though chargeable
Indian local time is not displayed in lobby but all other major countries' local time are displayed.
Chinese guests are more compared to others.Non Chinese Hotel staff are helpful and courteous whereas Chinese staff behave indifferently.
Very close to Southern Cross Railway station. Stayed for 2 nights from 4th to 6th sept 2017.
B. Y.
So close to sky bus and Southern cross station. Easy 2 minute walk. Plenty of hot water, clean well presented room. 9/10. Will stay again.
A. M.
Great location! But yet another hotel advertising a queen bed when in reality it is 2 singles pushed together...creating an uneven part in the middle
S. O.
Affordable and well located.
2 mins walk from southern cross station.
Booking through the app gives you a complimentary upgrade the free acces to the high-speed Wi-Fi and discounts.
Stayed here twice. Would recommended.
D.
It's not the most fancy or places, but it's clean and comfy which is all you really need from a hotel. It does the job at a very good price with decent rooms and friendly staff.
n. d.
Was clean & tidy. If all you're looking for is a place to crash for the night at a reasonable price, this is perfect. It's not flashy and it does the job.
The street noise was the only downside if I had to pick one but you get used to it. Staff were very friendly.
M. K.
Nice and friendly staff. The old rooms in the hotel are very good but the new ones on the 4th floor are poorly designed. Very small space. Looks like a warehouse room.
G. K.
Cheapish and relatively cheerful. Rooms are basic but clean and functional. The proximity to the Southern Cross Station its best aspect.
J. P.
Stayed in the "upgraded" family suite. Nice room, spacious, clean, good tv, and a nice looking restaurant downstairs. 147 for the first night and 156 for the second. Literally a stone's throw from Southern Cross Station.
M. R.
Don't expect too much from this hotel. The reception staff is kind of grumpy. 512kbps wi-fi free. High speed wi-fi 1gb at 3$ a day.
Location is good. Near to tram station. Lot of restaurants around this place.
d.
Close to southern cross station, can walk it if minimal luggage. Airport shuttle runs to station as well. Great little pizza shop just feet away very close also celebrations can by drinks there, China town many restaurants. Can't fall it for budget and location. 1 fault the central air con may not cut it on hot Melbourne summer day, there is a nice bath you could dip in👍
T. D. P.
Had a meal there with my bestie. Ordered the lamb shank and veggies. Reasonably priced for the amount of food we got. And they’re very quick too. No waiting any longer than 10 mins
B. B.
This hotel was in a perfect location. Only 5 minutes walk from the aquarium.
The room was very clean.
The staff were all so friendly. Id definitely stay again 🖒🖒🖒🖒
R. T.
Wasn't a bad stay, when I first arrived the customer service was poor I came back later and was then greeted by a nicer lady. I got a free upgrade which was really good the only problem I had with the room was the refrigerator did not work and smelt bad
J. W.
Great place, well priced
S. G.
My daughter and I have just arrived home after staying here for a couple of nights. We had no complaints, great service, location and room was great also. As for the noise from renovations come on guys they have to do it at some time. ☺
R. S.
The place looks nice apon entry but then when you are directed out the back it looks like you are about to be taken to your cell for the next 5 to 10 years.
The rooms are ok but make sure you check the cleanliness out before accepting the room.
The best part of this hotel is if you can get it cheap as we did through agoda it is amazing for it location. Cab rank out the side, Trams running regularly, walking distance to Etihad stadium and if you feel like a stroll you could walk to the MCG but it's a reasonable walk to Fed square many food options and pubs nearby the only problem is the price if you can't get a special.
S. L.
Great Location in the heart of Melbourne CBD close to Trams Trains buses and walking distance to well Known attractions. Lovely clean rooms and excellent staff assistance. For the weary traveller an excellent adjoining restaurant with quality meals at very reasonable prices is a huge plus.
A. P.
Very basic room setup, you get what you pay for.
We had to move rooms on our second night due to a loud humming noise coming through the adjoining wall.
M. H. (.
Unusual looking at first but rooms are very cosy clean and comfortable. Wifi works really well as well - more hotels should get basics right and this one does!!
I. L. C.
For the rate one pays, the rooms are pretty sizable. Food was fine. Service, depends on individual staff. Most of them were helpful.
G. R.
I was staying in the third floor for two days over the weekend. It's a bit noisy sometimes, esp when the hotel staff were doing cleaning early in the morning .
M. O.
High quality, clean, tidy and exceptional service on arrival. Close to train station, walking distance to the MCG and the Dome. Handy and affordable restaurant available on the premises. Cafes and restaurants close by.
W. S.
Stayed with family a few times. Great value for inner city location, staff always friendly. Good all round affordable hotel.
D. V.
Excellent customer service, cheap and clean rooms for short stays, newly renovated, close to transportation. Would recommend staying here
J. F.
Room was great, had everything we needed. Laundry facilities are good, very convenient. Would stay again.
D. C.
Small but very cosy, neat, clean rooms, great location
S.
Rooms were clean though could use a few more lights. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay
P. S.
Clean and tidy double room. Good for an overnight stay. Great convenient location next to train station and tram at your doorstep. Noisy due to road traffic.
a. ..
Wow. Excellent hotel, courteous staff, good value for money. Room was totally soundproof. Slept like a baby. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Melbourne.
D. A.
Very close to Southern Cross station and trams. Also near supermarkets. Reception open 24/7- very convenient. Affordable price for its location. Although, central air con may not be enough for hot days.
F. D.
Vey city cental, small rooms but very clean place...
M. F.
Affordable price despite being in the middle of town district. Hotel room was clean and pleasant. Awesome location and halal food within walking distance.
J. S.
The room was very fresh with a nice bed and a modern bathroom. The place outside of the rooms look like an old prison. Even though i could not find any more info on if it ever have been
C.
Budget hotel that is in an excellent location right near Southern Cross Station. Have been here three times now and all times rooms have been relatively clean.
V. L.
The room was very fresh with a nice bed and a modern bathroom. The place outside of the rooms look like an old prison. Even though i could not find any more info on if it ever have been
H. A.
I give The Great Southern Hotel 5 stars not because its a 5 star hotel, but due to its great prices for rooms that are reasonable and its in Melbourne Cbd, so close to Southern Cross Station. Perfect for my transit through Melbourne.
J. L.
Always a great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, very spacious. Close to everything, transport, shopping, food. Staff very friendly and helpful.
M. A.
Great location. Close to all public amenities. Perfect for late arrival visitors to Melbourne. Footy fans, you're just mins walk to Marvel stadium.
M. G.
Very good deal but tiny tiny rooms... but when you try ro get a cheap deal... you get a cheap deal. So overall a great experience
C. C.
Great hotel / apartment located in the hear of Melbourne City with ample room size and qick and easy check in and check out speeds.
Only a 2 min walk to the nearest train station and tram stops, perfect for an overnight stay or for an extended trip.
V. e.
The rooms are a nice size and well supplied with basic necessities, staff are very polite and the location is great for getting around the city without being clutteed in by people
R. S.
Great location, small rooms, kind of pricy. Oddly the AC turns off every 3 hours and you have to turn it on again. Quite a pain when the room heats up at 3 am
C. K.
Quite a nice hotel for the price. Looks to have been recently renovated and was quite comfortable. Cheap and quite nice accommodation.
A. B.
Quiet and great location but very basic. We only stayed one night so didn't bother to mention the frozen milk in the fridge.
G. S. -. L. W.
I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Our room was big and we had a lovely living room. Great view and nice service.
J. S.
Friendly staff available 24/7 to help with rooms and baggage. Location convenient to southern cross station, with the rooms a simple one room and bathroom with modern amenities.
S.
Great value. Refurbished rooms and bathrooms. Great location (near Southern Cross station.
Hotel charges for everything - Credit Card surcharging & pay to store your luggage.
A. B.
Great location but be sure about their hidden cost before making booking. I had booked through a website & after that hotel charged $20 extra for check in fee🙄
S. P.
Was a great stay**nice view but noisy traffic** met with a smile**Everything nice and clean.
Y. C.
Location is strategic as it is very near to Southern Cross Station, conveniently accessible to Crowns, DFO. However, the service of the hotel is a little disappointing as they charged us for baggage deposit.
T. P. H.
Great affordable accomodation..great location if you are wanting to explore the city
I. H.
Across the road from South Cross Station and bus station. Trsms go pass front door. Aircon has problems and they make no effort to sort the problems out. Front counter staff mot to helpful. The private attached restaurant supplies good meals at a readonable price.
E. Z.
Great location. We got a room early which was great. We will use this hotel again because of the convenience - it is close to Etihad stadium, aquarium and the train station.
L. M.
Great price and location, unfortunately we didn't have a single window as we were in the middle of the hotel so got quite stuffy, even mid winter but this didn't dampen our time in Melbourne.
M. A.
Good hotel and great location!!! Right near southern Cross station. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a pleasant stay there.
S. Z.
Very basic accommodation. This hotel has great location. The room smells not good otherwise everything are ok. Good choice for single travellers.
D. B. (.
Courtyard rooms are retrofitted and renovated jail cells and it can be very noisy in courtyard.
Cost of accommodation is very reasonable and the service is very good they even offer early check-in where available!
R. M.
Convenient location and good rooms for the price if you just need a convenient location to stay the night near Southern Cross Station. When I said they where having problems with the booking system which made check in and out take a while
B. W.
Basic but tidy facilities. The room was clean. The staff were helpful. Great location. Overall good value.
C. K.
Bit hit and miss with the rooms. One of them was really nice and clean. The other costs the same but wasn't nearly as nice. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
R. E.
We felt welcome from the moment we walked in the door. Being from the country we enjoyed the convenience of its location to the station and the availability of meals with in the hotel.
T. S.
Nothing special, stayed overnight, but clean. My key card didn't work very on lift number one. But it was a nice stay
A. M.
Overall
Adequate hotel for the price paid
Reception
Well staffed and very friendly
Rooms
It Appears overtime rooms have been getting a refresh (decor is not overall appealing but it's step Up from a motel)
Nice shower and bathroom space
Security
Lacking-stairs access From foyer is available to everyone
Overall
It appears the team at TGS try hard to deliver great outcomes (especially with so many IHG hotels nearby) however, a really good refurbishment is required in the long wrong to bring this place up to a decent level (especially now that holiday inn an Crowne Plaza have had theirs)
S. P.
Very good staff, clean room and very close to all proximity.Every time I come down to Melbourne,I always stay at the same hotel. Very happy!👍👍👍👍👍
c. p.
Good stay. Heart of the city hence everything is in walking distance. Would have been a great stay if parking was available or if they could have arranged it.
Besides that good stay for tourists as everything is close by.
P. V.
Cheap and well located however rooms are tinier and more bare bones than competitors. You can hear people opening and closing doors and talking in the courtyard from within all the courtyard apartments.
L. M.
What i did not like was not being able to sit on the chairs at the bench, squeezing my body past the bed and chairs, bench to use the kettle. This a found to be awkward, especially if you have a disability with upper and lower limbs or back problems. They need to advertise there is stairs that do require use.Not good for people with lower limb problems.Although bed was comfy, plenty of room in the ensuite.Noise level was low.Close to supermarkets, shops, trains, trams hotel is in a perfect location.
K. h.
Enjoyed my stay here. Rooms were refurbished recently. Furniture and room inclusions were in good condition. Staff were polite and helpful.
J. N.
nice location , just off southern cross station, courtyard wing , it makes feeling like in the penitentiary, OH no!!! but facilities are exceptional convenient , other than pay wifi.
A. A.
Looks like a prison, it was OK for the price, local to everything which was great and trams were there which was great but the TV was in an odd position had to crane my neck to see the TV which I didn't like it was OK to sleep in which is all I needed it for and it was safe so that's all I really needed but the bathroom was a bit small
D. W.
Rooms were clean but small. Stayed here for the MotoGP. Restaurant was good and convenient after a long day at Phillip Island
L. V.
Great clean moderate priced accomondation .friendly staff always ready to help .5 minute walk from southern cross station .have been going there and have had the same room for over 7 years wouldnt go anywhere else unless for certain circumstances
A. A.
Wifi isnt great and the zip king bend feels like it had metal in the middle. The service is good at the front desk and the rooms look great though
J. S.
Fantastic location, great room, very friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again when I come to Melbourne again
D. 2.
Stayed here a couple of years ago for a night and it was great. Just needed a place to crash but it was comfortable, quiet and the staff were friendly.
P. Z.
Some rooms are newly renovated with bad paint smells. Service is good , got us in another better room.
J. Y.
Great location, walking distance to heaps of interesting places. Well priced, clean and good air-conditioning.
F.
Stayed here for a night, place was good but i was given the wrong room. Would i stay here again? Sure. But i know to double check my room booking
B. H.
Hotel is old but they have given it a bit of a face lift. Everything is basic, you get what you pay for. Shower could have been better though...
O. T.
It's good affordable accomodation, not the best and they don't include everything for the price like wifi but for me it didn't matter since I just needed a place to sleep each night while visiting Melbourne.
L. W.
A range of different rooms with large bathrooms, both times visiting everything has been clean, service is good, also in walking distance of southern cross station, convention centre and crown casino
T. F.
Great location with easy quick access to essential shops. Rooms were ample for my needs. Friendly staff
V. v. N.
Just what we needed for a quick evening to be at the train station on time. Bedroom was fine and comfortable nothing over the top or too special
C. T.
Perfect for a value for money stay in the city centre. Handy for most stuff and trams. Room was clean and perfect for a couple of days.
C. D.
Noise from road construction outside, but clean and functional room. Location is Great and that is what you are paying for
k. h.
Great room good price happy days 😃
M. O.
Beautiful hotel lobby and restaurant. Room was pretty cozy, but bed was slightly uncomfortable
V. D.
Good place to stay in central Melbourne. Rooms clean and comfortable and close to everything including Crown Casino, Southern Cross & Flinders Stations and trams to St Kilda
d. c.
Too much light comes into the rooms out the back making it hard to sleep other than that the rooms are clean and good value.
M. J.
Good price and value and even better location. Standard service with clean rooms, only that bloody China tourist do not have any manners.
T. M.
Great hotel. Loved the room, chill atmosphere. Close to everything in cbd, quite happy.
R. J.
Good value and location. The room I stayed could have been cleaner though
V. W.
Two words - location and value! Located just one block from southern cross station ( where the skybus drops off) and walking distance to everything good in melbourne! Fed square is short tram ride away.
Cons were the interior facing room given to us, no breakfast or wifi.
Nonetheless would recommend it to everyone on a budget looking for a decent place to stay in melbourne.
P. B.
Very good hotel room good size, comfortable bed. 1903 restaurant great food, friendly staff.
T. R.
Room was nice, walk way stank of cigarette and carpet needs replacing as it's very well worn.
W. K.
Took the budget mini room. Clean and had a fridge. Was small but had a queen size bed.
I. B.
Accommodation reflects the price you pay, budget. Was great central location to tram, train station, casino, DFO and Marvel Stadium.
S.
Great value for money, one of the better places that have stayed at in a while. Highly recommended.
T. P.
The Great Southern Hotel not so long ago known as the "Enterprize hotel" is located in Spencer street Melbourne close to the bus and train station , also just a few minutes walk to the Casino, even the hotel could do with a little bit of renovation i enjoyed my stay, the price is very good and i would come back again!!
T. B.
Its just across the southern cross station and is in the heart of the city. Tariff is pretty much reasonable and rooms are decent. (Not great but good enough)
E. C.
Quiet enough, clean, friendly staff. Fantastic location.
R. L.
This was a great stay with all you need on the doorstep,The staff were absolutely great nothing was a problem,We stayed in room 505 highly recommend.
D. W.
Nice budget hotel, clean rooms car park very small and hard to get around
T. B.
Great value, easy to get to from the station small room that is cheap with lift access to all rooms. But bathrooms and beds in all rooms.
S. V.
The location of the hotel was awesome. So close to the Southern Cross station, in the heart of CBD. The rooms were kind of ok, still a lot of refurbishment to be done.
T. M.
The time I was there it was awesome
M. P.
Highly recommended to all. Right in the heart of the city. You walk everywhere. Clean and cheap too. Suited my partner n I.
W. F.
The facility in the room is somehow quite old. It is not so surprised to have a bed with broken legs in the room. But due to the locality, it deserves the price.
E. L. W.
Everything perfect save for a loose screw on the ground of the bathroom. Worried it would scratch a foot. Had been there a while by the looks too.
M. C.
Nice clean room, but extra cold outside my room, and extra cost for luggage storage and internet. Had bad reception
R. W.
They said there would be free parking, which there wasn't. However, excellent location and clean rooms. Good service when we checked in.
C. O.
The hotel is nice and the staff are great the only beef I have is putting 2 single beds together and saying it's a double that not a double bed guys
R. S.
At the night I was sleeping here, it was really cold in my bedroom. I couldn't change the temperature at my room. I called the reception and something was wrong with the aircon. In the end they gave me a small electronic heater for my room.
c.
Great location!
In the corridors people are smoking, smoking area.. so You can smell it sometimes in the room.
R. S.
The court yard rooms are not the best it was like staying in a hostel or back packers hotel staff where ok not happy after paying for the room i also had to pay a further 25 dollars for parking as a guest it should have been free apparently there car park was full but not once did we see a car enter there car park i give this place a 2 out of 10
K. L.
Generally okay for the price paid and location is good in city.. Ventilation system need to improve as too noisy for sleeping..
J. M.
Decent location, rooms nice and tidy, great service everyone is polite Restaurant was fantastic
A.
Good rooms, cleaning done at sensible times and a comfy bed, not much more I could want.
L. N.
Room is small but facilities are OK. Price is valuable and near station. Staffs are nice and helpful.
C.
Great hotel, nice and clean, very competitive rates. Has a restaurant and offers a buffet breakfast.
E. O.
We asked for twin beds and got a double bed, not what we asked for!..... Nice big hotel though & a very good price. :)
O. P.
Always use this hotel for our overnight stays. Always clean and never had any issues. Close to Crown, Southern Cross and Etihad Stadium.
T. H.
A very good location...nothing too fancy a few marks on walk ect but you get what you pay for and the room was very affordable .
T. R.
Absolutely perfect location amazing service spacious rooms keep going back, great breakfast
R. G.
Nice and Central. Opposite, Etihad Stadium, Southern Cross Station. Walking distance to the city and 👑Crown Casino. Very reasonable pricing.
H. T.
An inexpensive hotel in Spencer Street with great access to transport. Comfy, clean and with crisp white bed linen.
M. V.
Has a potential, if managment took a pride and direct workers wash the walls or even paint them. All over not so bad, but could be cleanner.
M.
Everything is good, except for the floor board is so noisy, bath room has no lock.
T. M.
Walls were paper thin. The room was good service was average. But on a budget cant complain
J. d. v. d. S.
Hot water not working last minute book in great service
G. M.
Clean room, good location, best place imo if you looking for a affordable place to stay for couple of days
D. D.
Perfect for the traveling type. No car needed. Buses and trams with train station across the road. Perfect location
T. C.
Good service with reasonable price , excellent location. However the waterpressure is very weak it take a long while to having a shower
A. L.
Very reasonable fabulous restraunt fully licensed and beautiful foid. Again very reasonable. Hop skip and jump for tram or train
J. L.
Great hotel in a very accessible location. Quick walk to supermarkets, a train station, and tram stops. Super cheap price!
M. K.
Good price for a standard overnight hotel stay. Room was quite spacious although it looked rather dated.
S. M.
Great location, room was serviceable - well suited for a night or two's stay.
A. P.
Comfortable bed and clean room well located close to transport and shopping.
K. S.
All good except the bathroom is very out dated.
L. J.
Showing age and wear in places but great convienient place to stay while attending a conference at exhibition centre having traveled from rural Victoria by train.
T. M.
Central and very affordable, this is an older hotel, but very comfortable. Efficient check in, 24/24 reception, very quiet and clean
C. T.
Cheep but very cheerful. The staff are excellent and the rooms are well maintained.
J. C.
Nice modern rooms, bathroom is spacious and staff are friendly, great location
A. C.
Small, simple and well presented room. A bar and restaurant availible. Prompt, nice service also.
M. S.
Didn't have any issues with the place at all.
Found it to be clean and staff very helpful.
M. S.
I visited for an overnight stay and had no complaints about the staff and the actual hotel. Fairly nice place.
R.
Good location. Good price. Ceiling is a bit thin as I hear the footsteps from upstairs.

I like the size of the 4 people bedroom, it is cheap.
Cleanness was okay, a bit outdated

there is only 1 negative about this place so far is the stench of the room other than that it's not that bad.
