D. P.We chose this hostel because we needed to catch the ferry to Rotto early next morning. We knew what to expect and we were ok with it, let's start with the pros
- Very well located to catch the ferry to Rotto
- Our private room was clean
- The girl that checked us in last Sunday night was very nice
Cons:
- Only cash payments, this is extremely dodgy. They have an ATM inside but you'll have of course to pay commissions
- This is an hostel catered mostly to young people living there, rather than to tourists. I felt a bit "judged" by long term residents
- our room was on the ground floor, it was impossible to sleep because of the constant party going on in the courtyard, i went to the toilet at 5 am and they were still partying outside.
- the closest female toilet on the ground floor is not very close to the room and you have to cross the courtyard to get there. I felt a bit under the spotlight as there were quite a few people still up drinking and they were looking at me, and I would have liked to avoid that.
I would not recommend this to anyone older than 25, unless they just need a bed to crash for one night

It is hard to be at peace over here. The rooms are chaotic and messy and could use a decent makeover. In my room (I had one of the cheaper ones) there were no organised spaces to place your belongings just a few cupboards and the floor. Which isn't good if you're at the topbunk. Also there are no charging points or wall outlets near the beds. I slept right next to an electricity box which made a 'tikking' noise and I doubt that it was safe. In the morning the sun shined straight onto my face for there is nothing to block the sun on the windows.
The outside area can also be quite messy and there are a lot of parties so not the best place to relax.
The kitchen downstairs is small and messy, the fridge is very unorganised and stuff dissappears constantly.
Also there is no payment by card, only cash. I didn't like this either. To pay you have to withdraw money from the atm thats inside but you have to pay a fee on that.
I was only here for a few nights and I took the cheapest option so maybe the experience could've been better for me. Upstairs they have a nice kitchen and a big lounge area with tv and pool table, I barely used this because my room was downstairs.
For me this hostel is very overrated.
C.I stayed here for approximately 3 months at the beginning of 2019. It is a fantastic hostel and I haven't stayed in a better since leaving. The staff, the beds, the social areas are all brilliant. The sense of community and safety and friendliness is unparalleled. I'd recommend staying at the OFS to ANYBODY who's visiting Fremantle.
J. Y.If you're looking for a hostel in Freo, I would 100% recommend the Old Fire Station!! Without a doubt the best hostel I've stayed at in Australia! Good vibes, nice mix of people, fun activities, great parties. Good facilities and areas for socialising and chilling. The beds are comfy, the hostel is clean and run really well, all the managers are super friendly and helpful. Like many others, I came just for a few days but found myself staying here longer term. Come to stay and you'll see why!

I liked the inside area, all the room are different each other, the walls and the furnitures are painted and drawn, furthermore the position is perfect, it's close to the train station, to the supermarket, to the city centre and to the beach! you feel really comfortable and safe, it's a place where is hard to go away, you can't go to fremantle without spent 1 week at least there, I absolutely recommend it:)

R. B.I heard about the hostel from friends in Pemberton, West Australia. When I arrived, I was blown away by how much the place offered: Videogame consoles, a pool table, a nice spacious kitchen and TV room, and even an outdoor lounge! The rooms and public facilities are cleaned on a regular basis, and the place is very clean and welcoming.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I recently got work thanks to a staff member who's responsible for finding jobs for backpackers. You can do casual work that pays toward the rent, or long-term jobs that can range from two weeks to a couple months. If you're flexible, hardworking and willing to learn new skills, then I know that you will find work at this place!
P. C.If your looking for a quiet place to stay, this might not be it. However, if your looking to have the time of your life, to meet new friends and are willing to be open minded and social, this is the spot!! I checked in for 3 days and ended up staying for 7 months, with a lot of little trips in between. There is about a 60% 40% split in this hostel of people who have made this their base for travel in Oz, and people just passing through. But they are all a really good group. If I could be, I would still be there.
B.I arrived in Fremantle 5 weeks ago and love it here. I wanted to stay only a few weeks but this hostel is so great that i changed my plans to a few months. The hostel is very familiar, friendly people, places to relax, lie in the sun and for gaming. The parties here are incredible and you miss nothing. When you are in Perth/Fremantle you have to check-in in this hostel otherwhile you will regret it. Its clean and the staff helps you when you have questions or problems.

k. l.The old firestation is the GREATEST hostel in all of Australia ( If not the world!!). The staff are absolutely wonderful, lovely, kind, helpful and make sure you're all good and well, recently I was admitted to hospital for a couple of days and the staff kept in contact to see how I was doing regularly and once I returned to the hostel they kept checking in to see how I was feeling. Which when you're thousands of miles away from home and from your family, really helps you feel a lot better and comfortable. This hostel has the best vibe going, everyone who stays here bounces off of each other , so theres non stop fun and the weekends everybody has a great time. The facilities are brilliant, common room with a pool table, playstation and tv with netflix makes you feel right at home when you fancy chilling out. Also thanks to the hostel they have helped with finding employment whilst staying there , to which has been great as finding a job sometimes can be an absolute mare. In the best location in Fremantle , which is beautiful and full of great bars and markets to visit! Its like one big multicultural family here and I absolutely love it! BIG UP THE OFS!!!!

Rooms are spacious and clean, 3 kitchens well equipped, plenty of fridge space. Whether you want to party or just chill,you can stay either in the backyard or in the upstairs common area well away from the party.
You can also use WiFi, Netflix, PS4, outdoor cinema table Football, ping pong for free so it wont get boring.
This hostel is one of my highlights on my australia adventure!

C. B.It's hard to find the right words to describe the Old Fire Station to do it justice but I'll try.... The staff are friendly and extremely helpful in assisting to solve the daily problems encountered by it's resident backpackers. On a number of occasions the hostel played an intrinsic role in my own search for work due it's strong ties with the local community. It's situated in an excellent location, a stones throw from the beach and only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Fremantle and the train station. The place has a homely vibe which explains why so many people, myself included, check-in for a few days and end up staying for months! With large areas to relax after a hard days work and a large backyard for ping pong, fussball, music and drinking, it caters for everyone. The best thing about the hostel in my opinion is how easy it is to strike up a conversation with a stranger, in fact no one is a stranger in this place for long. In this hostel I built friendships which will last a lifetime. With a spirit that has to be experienced to believe, it is without doubt one of the best hostels in Australia and a must for any backpacker passing through the Perth/Fremantle area.

N. W.It had been a long time since I'd stayed in a hostel, but I loved this place. They were very accommodating with a parking spot for us too. They didn't allow us to use our own bedding/sleeping bags as they were pretty keen on keeping bed bugs away.

An amazing backyard to hang out and meet people, jukebox with a selection of thousands of song, free ping pong and outdoor cinema , inside you'll find 3 fully equipped kitchens, free pool table, free use of computers and free wifi and so much more. This place has been a second home for me for a while now, and I can't recommend it enough! You won't be disappointed!!!!

a. d.Definitely the best hostel i've been in so far! Planned to stay a few weeks, which turned out to be months, it's my second time here now and i feel just like at home. You got pretty much everything you need here, i'm staying in the girls dorm so it's more quiet then the big dorms, we have our little area with kitchen, bathrooms, living room (with tons of free movies), and if you want to see more people there's lots of common areas to chill out, even an outdoor cinema and a big backyard that turns into a massive party every now and then :)
2min walk from the train station, 5min from a super cute beach and 2min from the city center.
I've met so many cool people here, including some of my closet friends in Oz.
The only problem is the slow wifi, but that's not the end of the world! :)
If you're going to Perth, you must go to Freo, 1st because the city's awesome and 2nd to live in this hostel for a while and experience it yourself! :)

In this hostel you will be not just a guest, a number or a name on a booking reservation you will find friends like a family forever!

Honestly it was a toss up between 4 and 5 stars because the facilities are really run down and no brekfast included.
But the staff where clearly capable of using their discretion unlike someother backpackers in the area and where helpful in what could have been a real nightmare painful situation due to flight cancellation and arriving at a ridiculous hour and turned it into not even an issue.
The people in the accomodation where friendly too.
So 5 stars for service.

You will be at 5 min by walk of everything : shop, beach, restaurants, market... you have a nice backyard with pingpong table, jukebox... and there a lot of entertainment organise by the backpacker.

Amazing building, great social areas, well equipped kitchen, huge fridge.
If you are not a fan of partying avoid downstairs room, but the staff will warn you if you decide to stay there anyway.
Double room had even flat screen TV and WIFi was one of the best what we experienced in WA.
No BYO beer but they sell beer for a good price with weekly specials.

Also there are a lot of activities from the hostel like football practise, tabletennis tournament and so on.

The only problem I had is the big firedoors in the 12 bed rooms, that are not insulated. A cold breeze is dragging through there at all times and leaves from outside trees find the way inside under these doors.

Bestes Hostel in Fremantle. Ist in der Nähe vom Strand, Coles und sonst auch von allem, was so wichtig ist. Das Personal ist super nett und hilfsbereit und das Hostel konnte auch für mich einen Job organisieren. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Tischkicker, Tischtennis, Billiard, Playstation und Netflix stehen immer zu Verfügung. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm und alle Leute sind entspannt drauf. Mein Highlight war immer Donnerstag um 16:00, Fußball :). Ich kann euch dieses Hostel nur empfehlen!!!
