This was the worst Hostel I've been in Australia. The rooms are okay, but the kitchen is a dirty nightmare and it's in general not a hostel where you want to stay for longer. Of course it's cheap but Is wouldn't recommend it. And Sidefact, the pictures with the pool are old there is no pool.

IMPORTANT: There’s no swimming pool anymore. No free wifi. Apart from that, the place is very clean, quiet, nice and spacious. Air con in the room is marvellous. Staff is friendly and always willing to help. I would add a recycling bin, as they currently don’t have one. Good location (CAT free bus zone), 1hr from the beach though. Italian restaurant and cafe opposite, 24hours shop within 200metres. I would totally recommend to stay here as it’s great quality for money but If you are looking for party hostel maybe choose somewhere else!

The Best place we ever stay..very clean,very well organised the place very near all place we need going ,dinner and shopping centre walking distance and have red cat free bus we going to town hall,the owners very humble and so love to helping and very respectful.. Me and my son love to stay since day 1 ,amazing feeling like stay at u owne home..so comfortable..,highly recommended And we love quite and safe place. Beautiful experience in perth. The Inn is easily accessible, a three minute walk from bus stops that can take you to and from the airport, and with a local route bus stop right outside. It’s got all the necessary facilities, including a kitchen, dining and common areas, and a bookshelf for anyone who’s out of entertainment. It’s excellent value for money. The only issue I had was cleanliness. I can’t speak for the male- , but the female toilet facility could definitely use a thorough clean a little more frequently. Nothing terrible or health-threatening, just some accumulated grime as it bound to happen in a toilet cubicle. I stayed in a dorm overnight and was gifted a lovely soft blanket for my bed. It just would have been a lot nicer if I wasn’t pulling previous guests’ hair out of it all night. Overall, the Inn definitely isn’t a 5-star hotel, but if that’s not what you’re looking for then it’s an excellent choice. Great value for money, and friendly staff who are happy to help.

Location is great. The shower is very comfy. The bed sheet looks very old. Too many mosquitoes in our room... I would suggest a window screen added :( The Wi-Fi cost 2 bucks per person. I don't know why we can't change the air conditioner temp.

Really good localisation, nice staff, they try to keep it clean all day. The double room has everything you need except toilet and you can hear everything about the room next door. The twin room is a bit small but nice and clean (but no windows curtains in mine..) with good matresses. This is a quiet place and I like that. Good prices. I do recommend.

I visited in winter. Extra blankets and individual room heaters were provided. I asked for extra towels too and there was no problem. The staff are very helpful and I have no complaints. I enjoyed my stay and I have just booked again. Great service and ideal location. Red cat bus outside, walking distance to the city centre, two supermarkets within one minute walk (one open 24 hours) and a laundrette - and there are washing machines inside the Hay Street Travellers Inn too. Recommended if you are are like me - a fly-in and fly-out worker. Great wifi.

Very friendly staff is there to answer any questions you have. Location is superb and there is a free red CAT bus line right across the inn. All is good, except the cleaning of the shared bathroom needs to be little regular. Other than that, this is a great place to rest for budget traveler.

I stayed 3 nights here over a weekend. The location is great if you want to be close to the CBD (12 walking minutes) and there are plenty of shops and restaurants and pubs around. It’s a hostel style accomodation with shared communal rooms, kitchen ( fridge space) bathrooms and toilets. All the basics are there. I’ve booked a private double room with private shower and shared toilet outside the room. The room has all basic amenities, it’s a little outdated in design and the furniture are old but for the price it’s what you get. Be warned, the walls are super thin and you’ll hear everything your room neighbours are saying and doing. The courtyard can get busy and it’s also the smoking area, so it’s a little noisy during the evening. If you’re booking the double room, make sure it’s not room 13 as it has the toilet for the whole lower level right next to it, which can get quite annoying due to it’s loud fans. Overall cleanliness is a 2.5 as the floors and shower still had dust and hairs on and in it. If you just need a bed to sleep in and if you are generally super easy going when it comes to sharing amenities and not really fussed about interior and immaculate cleanliness I can totally recommend the Hay Street Traveller’s Inn. It’s a fuss free place to stay to enjoy Perth.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. I needed some paperwork scanned, no problem. For what you pay, the rooms are great and the facilities are good. It can get a bit noisy when residents with no consideration slam their doors. Otherwise a great stay and I will be back.

We had a double room and then a twin room at hay street travelers Inn. Everything is more or less tidy, the yard is lovely and the kitchen is spacious and well stocked. Everyone who works here is extremely friendly and we felt very comfy throughout our stay. Thanks a lot for welcoming us to Perth that way! :)

My girlfriend and I stayed here on our travels while looking for work. The staff are very friendly and professional and met any need we had. The hostel is nice and quiet. It has a pool which was very nice to cool down in on the 40 degree hot days! It has a large kitchen with hobs, microwave and fridges. The double room we stayed in had its own shower. The free breakfast and free unlimited wifi were a bonus. Highly Recommended!

It was an okay stay overall. We stayed a week in the room where it had an attached shower. Toilets are still shared. Plus side is surely its locality and price point. Toilets are clean and overall was good. Just a few downsides were the kitchen utilities aren't very well taken care of especially the pots and pans which have their bottoms scraped off which was a bit of a turnoff as we were planning to cook till we saw that and decided not to as scraping off the non stick surface of a pan could be poisonous when cooked. On the other hand, the coil mattress was a little too soft which gave us backaches after every nights sleep, but i believe this is a matter of preference. Overall it was a good stay, somewhere i wont mind roughing out at by myself but i think maybe not the kind of accommodation which i would stay at with my partner.

The pool is filled in. No toilets in the rooms. There is no air conditioning. Doors are easy to get into without a key....not much security once inside the complex. Close to a lot of food, supermarkets, evening entertainment. Managers are very good and super helpful. Kitchen available for cooking your own meals, refrigerator for your own food and drinks. Worth the value, Room is spacious attach with shower room. Toilet is out side the room. if you no moving inside, toilet lamp with off very 10s, totally dark. It should be better with window. Easy to get food. Supermarket is just next door. We can cook in the kitchen. The kitchen is quite well equipped. The pool is filled no so long ago, what a disappointment. That's one of the reason we book here. Car rental company in walking distance. CAT BUS stop right opposite the inn. Easy to get everywhere in town. Randy(front desk guy) is super helpful and friendly. He had arrange a self check in the midnight. Help a lot on my tour.

Not the most comfortable beds, not the fastest wifi, but this hostel is one of the best I've been to! The cleaning is done everyday, people are lovely, the staff is always available and friendly. It is a no party hostel, so it's very quiet, but you can still have fun, chat and share drinks and food! After staying there for more than a month, I was really sad to leave!

Served as the perfect place for an overnight stopover in Perth as it was well connected to the airport via public transport (bus stop a few meters away). We thought the double room only includes bathroom. Therefore, it's better to emphasis it's without toilet. The air conditioner is a little bit weak, but it is fine for us. Helpful staff, extremely nice/clean bathrooms. My dorm room didn’t have a window so it got stuffy but other than that would recommend this place as it’s cheap and has a great location! There’s a lovely fountain outside and plenty of tables and benches to enjoy time alone or as a group.

4 stars based on price. Perths pretty expensive and the hostels in a fantastic location. You're right around the corner from the royal mint and the waka and there's a bus stop about 3 minutes walk away that will take you to Elizabeth quay in the city or the airport. From airport to accommodation we paid just under $10 for 2 people and it took 25 mins. I'd rather be a short walk outside of the city centre as you get to see a bit more of the city and how people are living. The neighbourhood feels safe as does the walk from the town centre. We booked a private double with onsuite. This doesnt include a toilet- just a shower and sink. Given the sliding door in our bedroom was broken the lack of toilet was a blessing. The communal toilets are clean and well maintained. Our room was a decent size with a comfy bed. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi coverage doesn't extend to the back of the property but it works fine in the communal areas. Given the number of people staying we had a great nights sleep and it's pretty quiet. The communal kitchens clean and you have your own shelf and refrigerator space with a convenience store next door. One day our room smelt strongly of sewerage but it didn't for the rest of the week so it might have been an external source. Staff are friendly and polite. Ask for cutlery and plates on arrival and you'll be allocated some of your own. It's a good system :) Would happily stay again

The location and access to public transport and proximity to the city. As well as I feel safe staying in this place. However the beds are very hard. The shower curtains need to be longer Cos the water splatters a meter out into the room Cos the curtains are to short. Under the bed was very dirty and needed swept and mopped.

The good: Easy to get to using airport Skybus service, a few places to eat nearby (but the good ones require a bit more walking), the price. Bathroom facilities are adequate. The bad: Rooms are small and there was a clump of hair on the floor -either from the previous tenant or the cleaners, the wifi was literally non-existent one day (first world problem, I know, but I'm just letting you know) The ugly: Some of the other guests.

I stayed here with a work colleague in a private/double room whilst visiting Perth for a conference and was super pleased with the place. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms quite clean but in shared toilets. I do not need the fanciful expensive hotel to stay in.

Magnificent value for money. I enjoyed staying in a place on the Red CAT route and it was actually quiet! Having a shower in the room was magnificent although maybe I need to lose a little weight as it felt like a very tight spot .....

Very good location, easy to get around using the free Red Cat bus. we enjoy our stay & we cook our own meal. The staff is very helpful. A little noisy at night when other guests walk in, causing foot-step noise and closing of doors, a problem for light sleeper. A bottom door seal and some rubber seal around the door frame and a rubber/vinyl flooring mat along corridor may reduce some noise.

Very nice staff and flexible check in time!!! Clean and tidy room!!! However, the toilet roll was not always there in Lady's room and need to be better work. Also, sometimes at night, there was some noises made in the other rooms and could not sleep ver well. All in all, I still recommend this hotel as it got a good location and nice staff!

Stayed here for second time in Perth. Wasn't disappointed. Staff very helpful, breakfast and coffee is great. Walking distance to all of the main attractions and fantastic wifi. Rooms are small but nicely fitted out with everything you need. Would stay here again!

For a few nights is fine, better if you don't pretend to cook there. The hostel is very clean and the girls room was spacious. The facilities are very old, they need some mainteinance. The walls for example are dirty, they need some cleaning or painting. At the kitchen there are not enough dishes to cook (it was frustrating staying one full week!). There is not salt, oil to cook... By the way, I was forced to have my food in my room because there was "not enough" space at the kitchen.

I have stayed here a couple of times now. I rather like it, it's basic but the staff are excellent and they will try to help out anyway possible. As hostels go this place can accommodate family's, couples, and singles... Location is pretty good because the RED cat bus (free service) runs just outside on the opposite side of the road. So getting to Forrest Chase or Piccadilly Arcade takes minutes.

Stayed there for a week. Its value for money. The bedroom is comfy, with clean toilet, spacious equipped kitchen complete with microwave, kettle and fridge. The environment was so calm and laid back. Free from noisy and disturbance. The most important thing is the manager, Randy being so friendly and helpful. Same goes to their cleaner who always smilling at the guest. They also provide transfer service to airport with the charge of aud5 per person.

Very clean, staff helpful and friendly, but... we were given a bed that was actually too small for my partner who is an average sized male. If we could have been notified of that on the website before I booked, I could have asked for a larger bed in the "special requests" section, or even looking at him the staff should have seen he was too tall for the bed. This means the beds are smaller than average. Do the staff even pay attention to the beds they put people in? Now, the room was nice, had powerpoints, lights weren't dim, hot water was instantaneous, everything was clean and nothing faulty. But we didn't buy the place to spend time in it; we were out all day and only bought it for a private bed, to sleep in. The only reason we wanted a room was for the bed and the bed was way too small. And we were unable to change this. How come there isn't an option for larger people or people with sensitive backs? I really appreciated how clean the room was and how lovely the area was, and your staff were so friendly to our tired selves, but unfortunately, I can't come back, as much as the room was big enough and the area was perfect and the price affordable, I can't sleep in a bed too small again, it was so hard for both of us that night and we ended up waking up as tired as when we arrived. I gave 5 stars for everything else becoz it really was nice and good for the money we spent!! Thankyou very, very much

Had an enjoyable 2 weeks stay over here. Lovely place, with homely deco. Excellent and comfy-friendly service, the staffs are always going the extra mile for you, and able to recommend where to go and what's nice. Clean common shower room and toilet. Will definitely be back again.

Nice, cheap hostel very close to Perth CBD, rooms are clean, rather small than big, plastic wrap on pillow can be annoying sometimes. Heater in the room only works from 8pm to 8am so can be fresh in winter (it's ok, we're saving the world and c'mon, u know Australia is not that cold ;) ). Big kitchen n lot of storage space in commom area, will do with a deeper cleaning every now and then. Night/Morning manager very friendly and helpful, receptionists on day shifts struggle a bit with English but still ok. Will recommend to travellers on a budget :)

I flew in from Cairns at midnight to find a very chilli 8 degree night. Picked up a car and drive 10/15 mins to hotel, nice easy drive. Didn't have to wake anybody up because there was a code access box for the key ( great idea). Room was so cozy and warm upon entry and a nice comfy bed with clean sheets etc.a good night's rest was had and a nice warm shower in the morning b4 leaving by 8am .. One of the best hostel in Perth. Very easy to get red cat bus which is free. 15 minutes walk to Perth Underground. 20 minutes walk to Bell tower. The guy who was in counter (Singaporean) very friendly and good in suggesting/arranging our plans so that's we won't missed out any place. -need improvement in bathroom cleanup.

Had a great time staying at Hay St Traveller's Inn. The single room was just nice. Not too big and not too small. The location is pretty much convenient to everywhere. Free buses just right infront of the hostel. Groceries like 5 secs walking next to it. The staffs were so helpful and friendly. Just that, some guests dont rrspect other guests by running and talking loud at the hallway and stairs and slamming the bedroom and toilet doors loudly..hope the management put warning around the building. I was staying at Hay Street Traveller's Inn for 3 nights. It was an Okay hostel in a good location surrounded by restaurants and grocery stores, with the free bus stop at the opposite, very convenient to travel to CBD. The service itself was good, the receptionists were nice and helpful. The room itself, however, was dirty with dust and some small pieces of trash. The bathrooms were nice though. Free wi-fi is only good in the common area and the kitchen. I'd recommend anyone to this hostel because of its value and price.

The place was nice and perfect. It is accessible to public transport and the city is just in 10-minute walking distance. The staff is super friendly especially, the one called Randy. However, to male occupants, be careful with your possible roomate as I and my team were very much disturbed and intimidated by the regular occupant at Traveller's Inn, who was an Indian (Ramesh). He ruined the beauty of our vacation and the rest of those who shared the room with him!! We reported to the management, and it turned up, the things aggravated and we had to change to another hotel!!

Very cheap, basic room. The room wasn't very clean, we stayed 2 nights and on our last night we found bugs in our bed. We told a girl from reception, who checked it and only said she would tell it to the manager. We then left, because we felt uncomfortable to stay any longer in that room..

A really lovely hostel with a nicely quiet and chilled out atmosphere; the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, extra benefits include the pool amidst the pretty courtyard, very good free wifi, and the free breakfast every morning. The location is ideal as Perth city centre is a short walk away, with bus stops for the free CAT service (which caters the city) almost opposite. I highly recommend staying here whilst in Perth!

No big room available if you want to avoid common dormitory for several backpackers. Shared toilet at your room level, and common, separated shower room in ground floor. But located in street of hotel name, not far from pedonal shopping areas of Hay St. and parallel Murray St., train station and bus central station, so convenient to go around in beautiful Perth area, from Fremantle to the SW to Scarborough and Hillarys Boat Harbour on the west sea coast. A bit expensive considering the facilities offered. But OK if you look at convenient location in city.

Very convenience since its very close to thhe Red CAT station. Its a free service shuttle bus. Which can clearly save your budget on transportation. Overall building condition is very nice. Cheaper price with a good facilities. The receptionist is friendly and very helpful. The nearest halal food is just 3-4 lot away from the inn. If you are bored you can just get on the bus and get down at 3 station ahead and you’ve got a lot of choice there (at hay and murray st)

- There is no pool anymore!! - the wifi doesn’t work properly, you can’t watch any videos because it’s that slow - the price and location is pretty good - the showers and toilets look pretty new but the toilets could be more clean and the size of the towel they provide for everyone to dry your hands is smaller than a tissue paper, so it’s wet and unusable after the first person that dries their hand - they give you a big towel though - the mattress could be more comfortable - the staff is friendly - the kitchen is pretty nice and I like the way they organise the fridge, you get a small box with your personal number on it where you put your food in - the rooms are pretty tidy and everyone has a power station next to the bed - the USB cable charger in the wall did not work though - there weren’t enough lockers in the room for everyone If the wifi would work better I’d come back if I ever should be in Perth again

my trip to Perth is a wonderful trip! Staying in this hotel really makes my trip more easily. The receptionist, Randy was very helpful and kind. However, the problem was with the wifi connection. During night sometimes the wifi connection was unable. The rest is okay! Surely will come back to this hotel when I visit Perth again!
