D. S.Beautifully appointed cozy rooms, excellent staff and so close to everything, this boutique hotel is definitely somewhere we’ll come back to next time we’re staying in Freo. It’s the little extras like the coffee machine in the room and downstairs, the high quality toiletries, delicious continental breakfast and the free drink and afternoon snack platter at the bar next door that make this extra special. It was also a real treat to chat with staff Maurizio and Marco, as they bring a really great energy with them. Well worth a visit.
S. T.Outstanding stay, service, facilities & staff. We held a Corporate full day event here & I would not hesitate in recommending the Hougoumont. The boardroom is bright and has all the amenities you need. The food throughout the day was abundant & tasty (special meals were prepared for a pregnant participant without hesitation or fuss), the Social event at the end of day was relaxing & fun! The rooms were modern & had all the creature comforts required for an enjoyable night. Thank you Marco & Maurizio for a simply wonderful day.
a. c.We had the best experience staying one night in this spunky chic container- room hotel. The rooms are fresh and surprisingly spacious with quality bedding. The staff was welcoming and helpful assisting with parking and late checkout . We loved the included chesse platter and drink at 5pm in the pop-up bar next doors and the breakfast with home baked bread from famous bread in Common ! The fruit loaf is great and unlimited freshly grinded coffee. The history was also very interesting as the name of the hotel is the name of the last convict ship arriving to WA. On one wall all the names of the convicts are printed as well as their crime and punishment. We will definately come back for this place to have another staycation!

L. R.My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of recently staying at the Hougoumont Hotel for an overnight staycation. Not only is the overall Hotel stunningly designed, the rooms are very well appointed with a perfect use of the space. The bed is actually one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in! We also had a wonderful start (and end!) to our night out with drinks and snacks at the cute little bar next door, Calamity's Rod.
The staff at both the Hougoumont Hotel and Calamity's Rod were amazing!

R. F.Stayed here some years ago when it was brand new and loved it and remembered it for the location, unique rooms and service. Booked again recently, mainly for the location which is in the heart of Freo food hub and everything is within 190m. Service is still great, cabin rooms are good just need a refresh of the carpet and some drain clean (super easy fixes). Aircon, bed, shower all good. The co-workers are accommodating and thoughtful. Carpark is secure @ $25 and they may let you leave your car there after checkout if not super full which is great. They also have bikes to borrow if you want to cruise around.
The new bar next door may be a bit loud but closes at 10pm. Note: they do offer you a light breakfast and evening wine/cheese but have never taken these offers up.

J. R.This place is well maintained, but I have to say the room I was in was extremely tiny. There want much room to move about at all. I liked that they had the mini bar turned off to save electricity, that is actually a great idea. They have a nice selection of wine that you can have for free between 5 and 6 and they source the cheese and morning snacks from the local sources. The people working there are very welcoming and friendly. I just cannot recommend this place to others because of the size of the rooms.
S. O.An ideal boutique hotel for couples. Location is perfect to easily access Freo's dining and bar scene on foot for a weekend staycation. They also have a carpark available for guests which is extremely convenient and not that common in Fremantle - yes there is a fee but street parking will cost you more.

D. H.Very interesting Hotel. Great history and mix with new, chic, well appointed rooms. Very friendly staff and great common facilities. Location is very near to everything that makes Freo. You would never know that the rooms are in shipping containers from the inside. Very careful consideration to the fitting and spacing has made the rooms feel larger than they are and you are not restricted. Bikes, breakfast and the cheese and wine in the evening really adds to the experience.

N.Staff are very attentive and helpful, the facilities were good, beautiful design, amazing location and the wine and cheese at the end of the made is best, the sensitive key card was the only thing slightly annoying, anytime it would get close to your phone it wouldn’t open the doors, apart from that it was a good experience.
1.Delightful hotel - great location, service and little extras! I was debating between a few hotels in the area for the proximity to the train station and market but after reading reviews decided to stay at the Hougoumont and im so glad I did! The hotel distinguishes itself in its service and added perks such as continental breakfast from 7-9am, daily happy hour from 5-6pm, free bike rentals (with a lock and helmet), and delivery of convenience items (at the same price as the store). The rooms are converted shipping containers but they're well designed and maintained so it doesn't feel like a cramped space. I would definitely stay here if I return to Fremantle!

The history of the building is engaging, as well, and I encourage you to read up about the making of this prescient boutique hotel that will hopefully encourage more like it to open in Perth.

If you arrive early, buzz the intercom in the driveway and they might let you park before check in if there is availability. Lovely rooms too!

R. L. S. D.Smart, modern boutique hotel which rooms are structured from shipping containers. Hotel location is well within Fremantle business district and walkable distance to touristy places. Working desk with Mac computers in the reception room. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Only downside is that rooms are small and bit cramped. But they provide free continental breakfast buffet and they have wine and cheese evening which makes the hotel outstanding.

Complimentary breakfast of very nice artisan breads/toast and preserves (fruit bread, sourdough + 1 other), muesli/yoghurt/berry cups, and automatic coffee machine that made nice coffee, and boutique tea. Will definitely be back.
C. K. K.Absolutely the best ever. Location is perfect for visiting all the sights. Capucciono strip is right across the road. You can walk to the Esplanade, Little Creatures brewery, the Roundhouse, the Markets and Fremantle Prison. Rooms are chic, the lobby is so nice ... It's definitely the hotel I'll book next time I'm in Fremantle. Great toiletries and a bathroom the biggest I've seen since the suite in Banyan Tree Bangkok I stayed at a couple of years back! The staff are incredible, the Manager is so friendly, everyone is just great. My only regret was staying for only one night. It is the perfect base for Fremantle and beyond. I absolutely recommend it!!!!
g.An amazingly constructed complex. The rooms have been very well decked out and crafted, with many comforts, are exceptionally clean and quiet. The staff are amazing and come 5pm enjoy some beautiful wines and complimentary cheeses.

Right in the centre of the action, walk around the corner for all levels of funky eating, vibrant bars, bookstores and a fantastic record store a block away. The room was contemporary and nicely appointed with a rain shower and a pod coffee machine. Surprisingly good value, fantastic wifi and a nice little bar in the lobby where you can plan your adventure. Will definitely return to stay here.
k.Great location, superb service by Mauritzio, super clean, our room had a lovely mural view, breakfast isn’t the greatest it’s just bread+spreads, coffee n yogurt/muesli but I’m told it’s complimentary, but I wouldn’t get up just for it best go else where, due to location it’s not a issue. All in all for $160a night I’d stay again 👍

A. B.Wow. We've been talking about trying out the Hougoumont Hotel for months, and we finally had a chance to do so. In a word: unique. We had a wonderful time, though our stay was short. The room service is quick and delicious, the staff is very helpful, and parking is included. The rooms are reminiscent of staying on board a luxury cruise—while small, they are perfect for one or two people. The overall tone is modern and eclectic, as well as cozy. I can't recommend it highly enough. We can't wait to go back.

P. S.This would have to be the smallest hotel room I've ever rented. Barry enough space for the bed and a bathroom. They've more than made up for the cramped sleeping accommodation with the relaxed public lounge in the foyer. Quite a nice breakfast put on and genuinely friendly staff on the reception. Having bicycles available for guests to use was a nice touch too

S. P.I'm a business traveller and stay here every time when in Perth. Clean Rooms, Great Location, Wine and Cheese at 5pm adds a great vibe (particularly when travelling Solo). Service from the hotel is professional and friendly. Onsite parking is also a bonus.

V. B.A beautiful boutique hotel, in the heart of Fremantle. The rooms are well fitted out with Nespresso coffee machines, modern bathrooms and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in. The rooms are small and cosy but they have made the most of the space and never felt like I needed more room. There is a nice large foyer that encourages people to drink and talk here, and the 5pm wine and cheese is a good bonus. The staff here were amazing, friendly and always willing to have a chat.

Super nice staff - Emily and Mark impressed us. You are in close contact with them in the"lounge", and they could not be nicer or more helpful. Nice simple breakfasts with good coffee and bread. Sets you up for the day. Apples, bananas, tangerines and suchlike all day long. Good wine and excellent cheeses/pizza from 5-6.
But.......rooms are VERY small so try to get a biggish one. It is run on "ship-lines" - viz the rooms are cabins.

On top of receiving a nice welcome letter and completing an easy booking process, the staff also hunted down a bottle of our favourite prosseco, and layed rose petals in the room.

N. W.I chose to stay at the Hougoumont Hotel for my wedding night with my husband at the end of February. We arrived very late at night and were greeted with a welcome note and personalized message of congratulations on the door. We had been booked into the Stateroom which was modern and spacious. Everything about our stay was fantastic. From the competent and friendly management to the decor and feel of the building to the Nespresso coffee machines in every room. In the morning, we headed over the road to Attic Cafe for a bite to eat. The Hougoumont has a charge back agreement with the surrounding cafes so there is always plenty of choice and it's so easy! We loved our stay at the Hougoumont and can't wait to book in again.

Y. C.First interaction i had was with someone called mark (??) He wasnt very customer srvice orianteted. He asked if they wanted us to prepare somwthing special for our visit. I told then it will be our first year anniversay and thought we would atleast get a bottle of wine or something to make it feel more special. The girls at reception were excellent, the room was neat and cosy. I really liked how they were very eco friendly and the location is very cental in fremantle. They did not have basic toiletries ie toothpaste etc, they also had a hairdry which was awesome. They did have a pamphlet that stated they could drop anything extra to our room if needed but ie shower cap etc. The parking fee was steep $25 for whole day but we checked in at 8 and left early morning they, Parkung should have been free or at a discount.
H. M.Possibly the best staff I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with Bec is a real gem. So genuine, just like hanging out with my friends. Location is perfect. Rooms are not big. Wifi is fast and has a good sleep comfort. I slept really well. Wine and cheese at night is the best thing I have ever seen at a hotel and I travel more than half the year away from home. Unique place.
Pay the extra for a state room and you will love it lots.

I like the clean and modern feel of the Hotel but the biggest stand out is definitely the customer service. R. S.Trendy hotel in good location. The rooms are tiny and our view was a wall 😏. The bikes are free for hotel guests. Breakfast is toast and/or cup of granola with yoghurt. Service is great.
