The Hive is great. Great location, walking distance from all amenities. You can feel management is working very hard to make it the best of environnement and it makes the difference ! Of course, it is not a 5 star hotel but it is not pretending to be, there’s two private bathrooms that are great, the others would need a renovation, the arts and paintings everywhere in the hostel are very cool =) If you’re searching for a trustful, casual friendly place to stay in the city for a great value, this is your spot !

The friendliest, most welcoming and best vibe having hostel in Perth. The staff work hard as hell to keep the guests happy and even though it’s not the best location in Perth, it still feels like a home away from home. Very close to the heart of the CBD so everything you could possibly need is within at least 10 minutes walk. Plenty of public transport nearby too if you wanna get out a bit further and don’t drive. Special shoutout to the managers during my tenure, Mitch, Matilda and Natasha, three incredible people who did what they could to make the hostel somewhat bearable. I haven’t stayed there in over a year and a half but I hope what I’ve heard about the hostel’s downturn isn’t true, hopefully management and ownership can pull the proverbial finger out and keep the place afloat.

Perfect location with walking distance in the city and public transport. Also really close to Restaurants and clubs. There is parking available. Affordable and the staff is really nice.

Feels like an actual home due to the people that are working/living here. Good kitchen including ovens, variety of different bathrooms, a nice outdoor area, tv-room and communal areas.

I've stayed here a couple times now and haven't had any problems, sure the place is abit old for it's time but prices are good, it's in a good location and the atmosphere is always super chill and inviting....I have zero issues staying in for another month, life here is easy. Chur

Loved this Hostel. Although the rooms are not the cleanest, or the most attractive (actually kind of falling apart), everyone here is just great. They have always activities that are inclusive for everyone and always friends to be made here :) I'd say you get what you pay for with your room, but it's worth slumming it for a while with the experience you have.

Great prices for a hostel especially for the smaller dorms. While we enjoyed staying there the girls didn't quite enjoy the people lurking around in the hostel and some of the questionable types of them you encounter there. Definitely recommendable though for a nice stay near Northbridge!

Best hostel I've ever stayed at! As a solo, female traveler everyone made me feel safe and comfortable. The door required a combination at night and each room locked -- so I felt confident enough to leave my stuff unlocked and nothing was stolen. I stayed in an 8 person room and was given clean bedding which added to its homeliness. There was almost always an employee cleaning which helped keep the place neat and fresh. Every employee was extremely helpful and offered travel advice and directions, which was important since I refused to buy a phone plan and relied on wifi. The wifi worked well although slow at some points (hence the 4 stars and not 5). They have a beautiful backyard to escape from the business of the street during the day. I would gladly stay there again and recommend it to all of my friends who intend to visit Perth!

It's really good for being a really cheap hostel! There's a lot of things to do here all from ping pong, to playing pool and playing games etc. The one part I really do think it's bad is that you HAVE to store your food in fridge in a cooler bag, even if you're just staying for ex. 1-3 nights. And if you don't have one you need to buy one for 2.5$ in the reception. That is just taking advantage of backpackers and steeling their money. I think if they have this kind of rule then at least they could give away a cooler bag for a deposit which you can get back when you return the bag.

Cheap, nice staff, clean, pool table, backyard where you can chill out, close to the party streets,... This hostel is GREAT. Also, for being a client, at least 2 nights every week you have free beers in two different pubs close to the hostel. After spending 6 months drinking goon, this is a oasis in the desert. Definetely BEST HOSTEL FOR BACKPACKERS.

Rooms are alright but pack. I know most hostels employ backpackers who are just looking to score a free room for a few nights, but your staff are the face of your business. The people are amazing as are the staff. I could spend more time describing this place but I think it's enough.

Friendly travellers from everywhere, excellent wi-fi, kitchen, laundry, book crossing. Volunteers are also welcome. One of the cheapest hostels in Perth: from AUD14. The only disadvantage: it is so nice that it is usually fully booked.

I like this hostel because it has a great location almost in the center of Perth, is reasonably priced, there are many options for rooms, rooms have AC, there is WiFi, large kitchen, PC with internet and TV with Netflix. In the backyard there is grill. Staff is nice and friendly. Only negative can be that the WiFi is slow and some of the people who stay they don't know how to keep the bathrooms clean after they use it.

Clean, cheap, 3mins to the city center and Perth station. Backpackers are in charge of reception, cleaning very nice atmosphere. Week end noisy till 2-3am cause of the Court bar next door. Otherwise quiet.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Australia, it’s not the ritz but what do you expect for such a cheap price :) the hostel gets cleaned everymorning and evening which shows, the WiFi isn’t the best but still works. Couldn’t recommend anymore really

Lovely hostel with an amazing community area. You can watch Netflix or play pool and Xbox with your friends. The well equipped kitchen is huge and a lot of people can cook or bake simultaneously. Also the facilties get cleaned twice a day so everything is really neat and tidy.

It's the best hostel I ever stayed at. People call this place their home, because that's what it feels like. Might be a lil dirty and not all new but that's not what backpacking is about, is it ? Go there and make friends for a lifetime. ;)

Cheapest hostel in town I think, has plenty of rest rooms, some of the showers don't work, they have a couple vending machines for getting some junk food, an ATM that is out of order, and it looks like they are renovating some areas, but this is Australia and they can only work so fast here.

Padlock on door as opposed to proper lock. The noise from the nightclub can't be helped, but anyone who has ever stayed in a hostel in the middle of a city before will know to expect some noise. I may look cheap but even the price they ask is way overrated for what you get.

Needless to say that it was noisy with music from a nearby nightclub and then builders the next morning. All you have to do is put up a sign and make people aware at check in that loud and inconsiderate behaviour will not be tolerated after 10pm, or they will be evicted without refund. Do not stay here.

Its close to the public transport system (trains and CAT buses), the supermarkets are very near by and the clubs are only a stones throw away. I stayed there for a week and I think it was good compared to the price. The building itself is old, but the shared showers and toilets seemed to have been replaced and were clean. The locker in the room was broken and I couldn't use it, but there is one on the first floor, so if you have a padlock, you don't have to worry about your valuables. The receptionist was also very friendly and easy to talk to.

Honestly it's not expensive but it's war in this hostel! you are in a bad economic or mental position if you go there The staff are super cool and the people in general are pretty cool too but the smells and the showers really leave something to be desired.

The hostel is located in a perfect area. 10 minute walk from the center and all services and attractions. Staff quite friendly and helpful. Calm people. Almost fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryers. Sufficient cleaning. I spent a week here and I was very calm. If I have a chance I will come back!

I spent 2 weeks at the hive, the accommodations are very clean, cleaning is done every day (late morning) there is free billiards, a good kitchen, dryer and washing machine (a little expensive $4 for washes it and $3 for the dryer). It remains the cheapest hostel in Perth and in the city center. The people are super cool, there are a few French people and a lot of foreigners to talk to on the terrace, most often over a drink. The rules of the hostel are simple but you must respect them otherwise the $20 deposit may be skipped (rare). I recommend.
