D. b.A great Aussie pub in the centre of trendy Fremantle. Parking can be a little tricky at peak times so a small walk may be necessary although free half hour parking is around if your lucky. Good selection of local beers as well as the regular stuff. Staff are very accommodating and professional. Good food available and a nice rooftop bar.
A. L.Up stairs on the balcony is wonderful with a nice breeze and fully shaded area. Gin & tonics are to die for (new favourite cocktail is Rhubard & Ginger G&T!). Food was also just amazing! Pork belly bites & Parmesan & Garlic Toasted Garlic Bread were delicious. We will be back again real soon!
S. R.Absolutely amazing place. We stayed in the deluxe Queen room and it was perfect. The bathroom is like something from a magazine photo shoot (don't open the blinds though, there are ac units and very dirty windows on the other side!) The room is perfectly furnished and the bed is very comfortable (although the mattress sinks in the middle more than it should) the prices are cheap, the location couldn't be more perfect.
Some confusion as to how to check in though, didn't know which door to enter and when I did get it right, there was no-one at the check in desk. Food is great, the bars are amazing and i'm definitely coming back.

A. R.Went to the rooftop bar for Sunday lunch. The venue and view up there is superb. Friendly staff and an overall good experience. The big letdown though was the food. We paid for one of the share platters ($60) which was vast in size and was than adequate for 2 people! The food was very oily, lacked flavour and was very fryer heavy. It needed more balance. There were also items missing from the meal with no explanation of this. If the food quality picks up I will definitely be back.

Absolutely terrible set out with the floor tiles and a horrible job of grouting them. Was a real let down to set they hadn’t carried on the pattern on the floor just next to the door.

So, expect a warm-hearted hotel -with loads of history
-a great variety of patrons (from retirees and romantic couples thru to office crowds, hippies and hipsters)
- A nice cold beer, with a happy din and a vibe from all the chatter
- usually with an entertainer in the corner, beating out a decent '70's song on guitar
Well located in the heart of Freo- it's across from the Mall...and just down from the cafe-strip and the train station.

a rooftop bar that is International standard- by its view over the heritage rooftops and gorgeous facades of Freo.
Take the lift (located towards the back of the hotel) to the top floor...

The waiter was outstanding with his service, the setting and ambience perfect and the meals - steak, pie, vegan meal were all absolutely delicious and of the highest standard! C. M.We recently had our father's 80th bday party on the 1st floor of The National. All staff were truly amazing. We had a group of 18 and had our own events manager oversee the lunch. Meals were awesome and anything we asked for staff rectified immediately. Simple things were always noticed - if someone dropped cutlery, new ones were bought out without asking, water jugs were always full, eye contact was the only thing needed for someone to come and ask if everything was ok.

J.Sitting on the corner of High street in Fremantle i found this lovely old hotel. you can sit inside or outside and there is a roof top. couple of times that i went was a small crowd during the day. i could choose a quiet corner and eat my meal which was delicious it came with a beer at an reasonble price. friendly staff and a mixture of young and old. they had a live band which was an upbeat cover band i listend to as i ate my meal.

The music was AWESOME with a lead singer engaging the audience with his natural banter and school boy charm. Staff were always smiling and happy to assist wherever possible ensuring a good time was had by all.

My steak was really tough, well undercooked and the sides were so scarce. Others at the table even commented on the way they plated the food. Dry.

C. S.We sat upstairs in the restaurant, the staff were so lovely, great service and great attention to detail. Even such as providing lemon slices and ice on the side of the water - a great touch. The food was tasty and well cooked. I asked for my steak medium rare and it came medium rare - this is hard to find in Freo/Perth!!! Most places overcook steaks because SO many people complain if they get pink/red steaks - true story!! This place has a bit of a poor rep but go upstairs I promise it's worth it!

R. M.Beautiful 360 degree view at the roof top bar. Able to find a seat and table and enjoy the view. Staff okay doing their job and service was prompt. Elevator was very slow up and down. So we walked up 4 flights to the roof, which was great as there are wonderful pictures on the way up and they have written descriptions by each and a QR code to provide audio descriptions. We were very impressed as well with the renovations and will stay in the rooms. Once we stay I will follow up with more detail.

I went today to the pub with a few friends. I liked the cider, but my friends gave me a hard time as I had lemonade.
Also I knew the chips were gluten free because I checked the online menu and this has gone chaos.
I like the food and service, however I would consider other pubs around the area if I want drinks, but this is the safest pub for my coeliac.

J. H.My partner and I stayed here on New Years eve and we couldn't fault the service or accommodation. It's clear that the owners have thought of everything with double glazed windows and doors you can't hear anything from the bar downstairs or upstairs. You could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the room design with top quality furnishings and fixtures. We had a massive balcony with great views of Freo's main drag and the rooftop bar was a great idea with amazing views of Fremantle harbour. We have two boys aged 2 and 4 who also enjoyed themselves and were easily accommodated on the pull out sofa bed in the room. A really well done renovation and highly recommended.

S.Beautifully restored historic corner building in the centre of Fremantle that houses a pub at groundfloor level (there's live music there often), a bar opening onto a beautiful wide balcony and a stunning roof terrace with 360 degrees views of Freo. There is an exhibition of local artists in the staircase leading up to the roof so make sure you take the stairs at least once. Service is quick and friendly, food was delicious. There are guest rooms available as well.

C.The National Hotel is a gem of a place. The downstairs area is the same as any other pub that you’ll find in Freo. But venture upstairs and you’ll find something completely unique! Easily the best, if not the only, rooftop bar in Freo. Great views towards the ocean and the harbour make this a must go spot for anyone visiting the area. Get a jug of sangria too, because why not?

B. T.One of the best pubs for food in Fremantle. Better food then Norfolk, Federal or Left bank. It’s Quite rowdy downstairs with local bands at night. Upstairs dining room has an outside balcony that also has cafe blinds pulled down & heaters in winter so it’s warm all year. The food is really good quality, much better than the standard pub grub. The menu has classic pub food plus modern Australian dishes. We had pork belly with black pudding plus a chicken breast roulade. It was as good as any restaurant. I’ve eaten here at least 5 times this year.

A. G.There are lots of good dining choices in Fremantle and the beautifully restored National Hotel on the corner of Market and High Streets is among the best of them. The food and service is good and it's a great place to just sit and people watch. Great value too. While it does get a bit crowded at times and the music on the weekend can be a bit too loud, it's definitely worth going to.

J. F.Had lunch here on friday and it was amazing! Had a table of 10 and the staff memeber that served us was excellent. He remembered everyone's individual drink and food orders and we didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. They also do separate billing which definately is a plus.

P.My first time there. I was looking for a pint and a bite to eat. I have to say that the food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend as a casual place to good.
L. W.Long wait for food, arrived cold. Chicken Roulade came with two asparagus spears and a very small serving of cubed potatoes. Porterhouse steak chips ok but sauteed vegetables was three tiny bits of capsicum and zucchini with a pile of egg plant. Got 10% off for cold chicken. Don't think we will return had better pub food for less.

W.It's so refreshing to find a pub that has a legitimate and decent happy hour EVERY DAY from 12-1pm and again at 5-6pm. Great balcony and even better people watching.

J. G.I love the Federation Free Classical arthitectural style of The National Hotel in Fremantle. This beautiful building is a heritage hotel and part of Fremantle's folklore. The chequered history of this iconic hotel was also fascinating. During the WW II, this building was used as a hospital with operating theatres. In 2002, it became part of the Notre Dame University. What was truly awesome was the magnificent restoration of the building after it was devastated by fire in 2007.
