S. G.Overall an experience that exceeded our expectations. The staff at Base are so welcoming & kind, they always went the extra mile to help us out. Whether it was about printing tickets, borrowing a hair dryer or storing bags & belongings etc., they were always up for a chat, approachable & happy to help. Cleanliness was okay, there is room or improvement (it wasn’t shabby, but it had noticeable small details like bins & hair on tiles & walls etc). The private double room itself was a bit too noisy, cold & small for our taste & needs, but I guess you get what you pay for. We were out all day so it didn't matter too much, but make sure to bring warmer clothes in winter and close the blinds, because the windows are not insulated. The air-con worked fine though which helped fixing the cold issue & the general water pressure was good too. Also, Base Sydney is located between Town Hall station and Darling Harbour which is very convenient and consequently only a short walk to multiple tourist attractions, shops, cafés & bars.

L. D.I lived in Base for the best part of a year and had the most amazing time! Great hostel, great staff, great bar next door. Its basically my second home! I recommended ALL backpackers to go here. Most of the staff are well travelled so can recommended all the fun for you in/around Sydney and they will also help plan your EC trips with stops along the way staying in all the base hostels! Theres big rooms and small rooms and single/double/group rooms so you can fit your stay around a backpacker lifestyle, working lifestyle, weekend away with friends.

K. R.BEST HOSTEL I HAVE BEEN TO. Love that they have a separate section only for ladies. The staff are super friendly! Facilities and amenities all in working condition (as compared to other affordable hostels).
A. H.This is a great hostel! Fun daily activities making it really easy to meet new people. The staff is very nice and helpful. The toilets and showers are clean and well maintained. Lots of space in the rooms and good air conditioning. Also has a nice big kitchen as well- I only wish they had an oven:(
C.My wife and I stayed for 11 nights in December 2019. During our time here we stayed in 2 different dorm rooms, a 6 bed dorm for 9 nights and a 4 bed dorm for 2. The beds are comfortable however they are metal frames and that leads to inevitable squeaking when people are going up and down them. There are also no privacy curtains. The A/C works well. The 6 bed dorm also had a split toilet and shower which is brilliant for 6 people sharing.
Most of the staff are very pleasant and friendly others made us feel like we were interrupting them.
The hostel has a nice space to hang out beside reception, with comfy chairs and couches. There is a foosball table, a table tennis table (although there was only 1 unbroken bat when we asked for them on our final day) and a work space however there are only 4 spots so go early if you want one.
The kitchen area was a good size with plenty of appliances however fridge space was at a premium and so we only cooked what we had bought as there was no storage.
The free breakfast wasn’t for us so we went out for breakfast but it is available in the Scary Canary.
Base probably deserves 4 stars when we were staying at the rear of the property for 9 nights but on our final night, after we had moved to the front, it was a different story. The Scary Canary has music blasting out until 3am and when we were getting up at 6am for a train that leaves a very dim view. Management have stated they can’t do much about external noise but that is untruthful as the Scary Canary and Base are owned by the same person (I checked government records when I couldn’t sleep at 2am).
C. M.Bathroom was quite clean, the guy at reception was friendly. For me 28$ for a bed without any mattress cover, pillow cover and sheets for over the blanket is a bit overpriced..
J. S.I have traveled the world and I usually don't do this. But: I have never stayed at a better hostel. Honestly. Never. Go there, have a great time and enjoy the stay. Rooms are quiet even though you can have a lot of party downstairs, showers are clean, area around is perfect - bar next door is great. Plus there's free pancakes! Also the kitchen is a real kitchen and not just an oven without anything. Management keeps everything in order. I'm really impressed.
I. C.Good hostel! My hotel did not have my reservation so I needed something else ASAP as it was already 11pm. Found this hostel at a reasonable price. Staff was very friendly. Checking was easy and rooms were alright. Showers were too small for me (6ft tall) and it was rather difficult to wash my hair.
F. C.I stayed in this hostel twice and I found the atmoshpere really pleasant. If you want to meet people and hang out, this hostel is the perfect place to do it. Rooms are quite big and bright, there is a locker for each guest where you can store your stuff. The only thing I would improve is the common area near the kitchen, since it's a place to meet people, have a chat and maybe drink a beer, it shouldn't be closed after dinner. The staff is great too! I highly recommend this hostel.
C. V.I booked a place in female room. It was very privacy and safe for females. Very good value for money. The location is perfect, very central, close to bus stop, train station, next to a bar but still very quiet. Thus, you will receive an discount if buying a drink in the bar. Clean hostel and there were facilities, air-conditioning, hairdryer, iron in common area.
K. C.Pros: the rooms were super clean, spacious and had a really good aircon. Beds were comfortable which was an added bonus. The location was an easy, short walk from Town Hall station. Also had a good range of bars and food places nearby.
Cons: they provided no soap in the bathrooms to even wash your hands with. The room had a pretty bad smell when first entering, which i gather was from the cleaning agents.
Overall, would definitely stay again.

D. T.It’s been one of the better hostels I’ve stayed at. It’s location could not be better as it’s close to public transportation and has many things close by. But what makes the place great is the staff. I HIGHLY recommend talking with Claire at the travel desk for any of your needs for trips. She is amazing and helped set me up for a scuba and skydiving trip.
J. L.THE ABSOLUTE BEST hostel I have ever stayed in, in Australia, start off with Allan and Luna, the best manager you could ever ask for, meets every requirement you could give him!! Not many genuinely nicer men & Luna is just the best & friendliest dog you could ask for!!
The hostel is always super clean (including kitchen and bathrooms) not like other hostels (wake up)...
The staff are super helpful, and also meet any requirement you have, extra bedding/pillows etc! I only booked in this hostel for 3 nights but ended up staying over 2 weeks!!
There is always an event on at night time which fetches people together, free food & wine on selected nights etc!
The dorms are always cleaned and comfy beds!

K. N.Basic but good to use as a base if out most of the time. Bathroom was clean and basic. Large kitchen facilities. Our room was a private room and was in need of repair - strip lighting cover missing, stained chair, missing carpet, curtains didnt properly cover the window. They have a policy of no noise 10pm -7am but this wasnt enforced and it was quite loud every night until about 1am. Staff were friendly and helpful.
S. N.We had a good stay at Base Sydney. It is conveniently located close to Town Hall, just a few minutes walk to the train station there. We stayed in a dorm of 6 with a private bathroom for 3 days. The hostel has good amenities and a nice common area.
The hostel staff was friendly and nice, although they took 2 days to get the toilet fixed in our bathroom which was clogged. The hostel manager was great and understood our inconvenience, and got it fixed the same day and gave us a partial refund.
A. G.I had a great stay at Base Backpackers! I had a bit of a rocky experience with another roommate who made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, when I had asked to switch rooms it was done with no problem. Unfortunately, I still felt on edge and was made to feel uncomfortable even having switched rooms. When I had expressed this with the staff in private, they took it seriously and handled the situation swiftly and made me feel safe. The staff are friendly, kind, understanding and happy to help with any issue you may have. The hostel is also at a great location which makes it easy to get anywhere you like! Thank you to everyone at Base for an awesome stay!

B. H.Decent place for the price. Could be a bit better with the views I thought I would get a city view but all me and my GF were able to see was a big wall blocking the entire street. Rooms were clean but a few broken things in the room. 6/10
S. B. S.I stayed there the past October for four nights. Clean bedrooms, comfy beds and clean bathrooms. I stayed in a 6 bed and was very nice. Nice people (mostly Brits) and fun enviroment. The location is very good and you have many options close by (restaurants, fast food joints, the subway and the grocery store).
The free pancakes breakfast is a very good deal!
Staff is okay, not very friendly but also not rude. I was surprised about the check in process. First day they literally asked me nothing, not even for and ID. Second day (because they changed me to a different room, so checked in again) they asked me for my passport and to read the terms and conditions. They never replied my emails and they have to work on their planning skills (they changed everybody to different rooms every day).
It would be good if they have more hangers in the showers or at leats a stool, so it would be easy to take a shower.
Overall I will come back for sure.
J. H.Great location! Train is literally across the street. Staff are fab especially a young guy Javier. Nothing is too much trouble. He worked his magic and arranged for myself and a few friends to be in the same dorm. Which has made my stay so much better. He also made sure we knew exactly what was going on in terms of events at the hostel.Such a gentleman. Total Asset to Base! Rooms cleaned everyday!
E. G.Hostel is clean and well kept. Lots of long stayers who are often rude and messy. Kitchen is good size and has lots of cooking equipment but I can't imagine it gets overcrowded in summer. Security is decent but people still managed to bring friends into the rooms

The ambiance of the place is something I haven't encountered in a hostel before, homey, welcoming, fun. It's a great place to connect with other travelers. I recommend it wholeheartedly. A. L.The hostel is perfectly located just below the town hall and queen victoria building. The woolworths is just around the corner. When you enter the hostel there‘s first the check in desk and as you go further your in a big chill lounge with couches, table football and snack vendors. Spent a lot of time here. I‘ve slept in a sanctuary dorm, which was furnished so nice and cozy. The mattresses were comfortable and the room itself had lockers and many sockets. In the sanctuary also was a big mirror with hairdryers and styling irons, which was great. The kitchen area isn‘t the biggest one but it has got everything you need and there‘s much place to sit. Free pancakes every morning from 8-10am. The staff was very nice and friendly and the dog was very cute as well. I really enjoyed my stay here
C. Z. H.Generally okay backpackers hotel located in the heart of Sydney. I didn’t spend here overnight but just booked a day room (due to flight schedules). Location was fantastic and near the train stations, and service was prompt. Do stay here if you’re a partier and want to enjoy yourself, but if you want a quiet nice, you’re not the target demographic.
K.The rooms are very spacious and the air con works which is rare in hostels! Fab place to stay if you want to meet people as everyone is there to socialise and have fun. Also the facilities are clean and never crowded. Make sure you go to the bbq at bronte beach it was really fun and Kieran’s burgers were delicious! You’ll probs want to extend your stay 🙌

M. B.I stayed at Base Backpackers in a private room for two and a half weeks and had a great experience. The kitchen and dining room was always clean and well equipped, the room was a very generous size with a tv and the bathrooms even though shared were always well presented with great shower water pressure! Although a large building, Base had a friendly, personal vibe and the reception staff were always keen to assist me with advise on getting around town. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Base and will definitely recommend to friends!
C. W.I travelled around Sydney recently with my friend, stayed in many different hostels but this was definitely the best! Maddie really made us feel welcome from the start, showed us everything we need to know. We even managed to book our trip up the East Coast here with her (Definitely recommend)! Just an amazing atmosphere at base, by far my favourite hostel. I’m sure we’ll be returning here when we head back down to Sydney.

A. H.the staff is SO FRIENDLY and goes above and beyond to make people comfortable. They gave us a six person room for me and my three friends and blocked off the other two beds so it could just be the four of us as well as giving us lots of extra perks!! Absolutely loved all these people- they made the stay so wonderful! The location requires a lot of walking and the rooms were really hot, but other than that it was fantastic!
T. M.Convenient location and the rooms are Wellmaintained. The room looked as though it had been renovated recently so was pleasant enough. The room its too tidy and clean. Nice to know the staff go out of their way to make you feel safe. By far my best overall hostel experience in Australia.

T. W.I stayed here in February 2017 with a few mates and would call Base an 'average' hostel. It is big, busy and has a bar next door, but that's about as far as the positives go. The room only had one locker that was still in shape and actually able to lock; there was no free wifi (not even at reception) and the sheets on our beds hadn't been changed from the last visitors.
If you're just looking for somewhere to crash for a few days, this place is fine. But I've stayed in better quality hostels for $40 a night.
J. H.Stayed with with my GF in a private room. It was a little better then we expected being a hostel. Front desk was efficient and quick, some fancy app, did it all.
Towels and soaps provided, staff were able to help us with a restaurant booking in the area. We are from Adelaide, so having some local recommendations was great. Allan was especially helpful with this.
Will be back next time in Sydney.

D. H.Great for the money!! Upon arrival staff told me i had a free upgrade to an en suit room which was great!! room clean and tidy and had a great view of westfield tower. Bar was cheap and food was delicious!! Kitchen was clean but was sometimes an overflow of plates but its like this in every hostel so not a biggy. Highly recommend.

R. G.Sydney is such a fickle town it was great to have a 'base' that felt natural. Most of the guests are pretty social, and what to meet like minded traveller's. Which is refreshing in a large hostel. They seem to have all age groups, which is great, felt a little sad to leave.
M. H.I once had a problem with the reservation and Jaimee Bridgement, The General Manager of the Hotel involved himself and resolved the problem very quick. What a nice service.
F. H.I stayed here in April for 5 nights. Location is great and you can go to spots (like Hyde Park, Opera House) just by walking. However, music of the bar is too loud, every night I feel windows shake with the rhythm of music (Maybe it's because I was at 1st level, I don't know whether is better at upper levels). Kitchen is a little messy, sometime we can not find what we want to use (like forks, spoons). Overall, I would like give 3.5 stars for Base.
C. S.Location overall was excellent, though our room was directly over a pub on a Saturday night (ouch). Rooms were great, simple but clean and comfy. Very disappointed with the service, when we asked to check in we were met with silence and pointing at signs instead of any real hospitality.

D. W.Had a great stay at Base in Sydney! I arrived after an early flight expecting to wait to check in, however they found me a room so I could check in early. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, the amenities all clean and well kept and the building nicely set out.
There`s an added bonus of a great bar downstairs that serves good food, then offers a good nightlife later on.
The locations is perfect, very close to Town Hall subway, offering easy access to other areas of Sydney as well as the airport.

O. C.Base was really fun I stayed for 2 weeks and loved it. The location is ideal as it’s central and next door to Scarys which had amazing food and cheap drinks. The staff were all super nice and the events were a good chance to meet people. The Bronte BBQ was my fav thanks to Kieran who cooked incredible burgers! Deffo would recommend 😛
T. L.Overall we enjoyed our stay at Base. It is in a good location and the atmosphere is friendly. When we first arrived our room had not been cleaned however, the staff were very helpful and apologetic and resolved this quickly and provided compensation. The shower and bathroom facilities were clean and there were ample cooking facilities downstairs.
S. T.The Base hostels are a chain throughout Australia that cater to party-going backpackers, and this one lives up to that reputation. If you want a quiet and clean place for a restful night's sleep (like me) then it is probably not the best place for you. The rooms and beds were just OK, and the bathroom cleanliness was alright, but not great. There were heaps of wonderful young backpackers here that make the atmosphere great if you want mates to drink and go out with, but it can also feel big and loud.

Having scarys next door is such a convenience and is great for backpackers. The activities put on by the hostel are so good and ran very well. All in all 10 out of 10 keep it up!!!

We came one day earlier than expected, without telling them. The staff was very helpful and helped us out with the booking. They also took 1 hour of their time to help us with the rest of our trip in Australia. It seemed like they really cared about us. They booked all of the trips, bus and activities. Informed us with things we did not know and probably saved us a lot of extra costs and stress. The staff was one of the highlights here!!
Smart rooms! Our «keys» is in our phones, on an app. So we dont need to remember the key all the time. The rooms are also really clean and nice. Good bathrooms, free wifi and fun activities down stairs.

R. H.Cool hostel, cool people. Staff are nice and friendly, travel experts helped me sort the east coast out. The bar is sick and open every night so there's always a place to drink that isn't too expensive - and the food ain't bad either!
S. S.One of most well managed and clean facility i have seen in a while, decent size kitchen, multiple showers and a house bar (should check that). Only one issue i saw there is that there WiFi is open, so anyone can access your web traffic or even stole your details if one's smart, their network doesn't allows VPN usage, so you are pretty much forced to used their open WiFi network and pray that some attacker is not in their network stealing data. Well its critical to use your mobile data for banking or emails when you are there, just to be on the safe side else is just fine place to stay. They were fully booked for Xmas period, so i had to book somewhere else, highly recommended!

N. B.Awesome experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. My first time in Australia couldn't have been better. Like the other guest wrote in her review , I think they have made hosteling an art. They are neat and clean and properly laid down. 24 hrs operating reception, a very professional travelling desk, good WIFI and every possible facility including lockers and 'all you can eat breakfast'. Best part- location. You're right next to the Town hall Metro station and in the heart of the CBD with diamond harbour 10 minutes walk away.

K. M. C.It's a nice and clean hostel, with lovely staff. The rooms are pretty great as well. It's located pretty good, as you can walk to the botanic garden, Harbor Bridge and the opera house in 25 minutes time.
K. T.I agree with most of these reviews saying its noisy, but its also a youth hostel, which means you're gonna get a group of young travallers having a good loud time. If youre seeking a restful holiday in Sydney, i recommend you get a Hotel. If you are easy going and want to have fun in a great location, then this is for you!
B. A.Hotel room clean and bed comfy. Check-in staff on first day slow and somewhat rude. Staff that night and on checkout after the last day were professional and efficient. Hotel room was swapped without hassle when the aircon didn't work. Plenty of good resources for youth and travellers and fast free wifi on the first floor. Good hostel.

Did not like the fact that the music is so loud in the lobby. It's like you are in a club so it's hard to relax or concentrate when doing something on the computer or your phone.
It's a big hostel so there's a lot of people running around here and making noise. I call hostels like this "factories" because they are just mass backpacker lodging facilities; not a place you stay to relax on because it's so cosy. Keep that in mind when you book.
C. G.Clealiness of ensuite shower room could be improved. Large communal area. Bluetooth internet key may not be always workable on some low end mobile phone caused inconvenience.
H. K.Pretty decent place. Bathrooms & kitchen are cleaned regularly. Dorm rooms have lockable storage, reception is helpful. Downside is that none of the windows open so it gets quite stuffy.
T. B.Place quite okay, but has some cons :
1. Because lots of people don't clean their dishes, the kitchen sometimes can't be used. They could improve by putting, for example, fines for people who don't clean up their dishes.
2. The bathrooms and toilets are sometimes clean, sometimes dirty, depending on where you sleep.
3. The WiFi is sometimes good, sometimes really, really, really bad (3 minutes just to upload a Facebook page)

c. s.Pretty good back packers. Comfortable. Be sure to take your own towel otherwise Coles is open late. Can be noisy as it is built above a nightclub. Great location. Staff friendly, but not sure about the app required to check in.
S. M.It was OK overall. Very well located next to Town Hall station and Darling Harbour, clean bathrooms and rooms, nice staff. However I wouldn't recommend if you're working as you might end up with inconsiderate roommates (who think it's ok to slam doors in the dead of the night) like I did and pretty much get no sleep. The beds are comfortable but the moment your bedmate climbs in or out of their bed, you feel like you're caught in an earthquake... Also I don't get why the staff sometimes blasts announcements in the speakers in the morning. Ain't the army. If it hadn't been for those points, I would have totally stayed longer instead of trying my luck with another hostel.
C. M.Base Backpackers Sydney is a chilled, relaxes place. Bustling with great personalities and helpful people. Rooms are comfortable size. The shared kitchen was well equipped, but unfortunately found my self cleaning up overs dirty dishes, and utensils to use. All it all would recommend.
M. N.Neither great or terrible. We had a double room with en suite, was very small so had to climb over our suitcases, drainage in the shower is poor but otherwise great location, we've used it as a base, pun not intended, to explore Sydney.
A. P.The location is superb! Many places can be reached by foot as well as connection stations to go by train or bus.
The rooms' euqipment isn't the newest anymore but it's good enough for a few nights.
The room I stayed in could need some cleaning. There are chewing gums on the wall from earlier guests. The air conditioning is running 24/7 to keep the room at a comfortable temperature which with the trade off of a constant noise.
The toilet facilities are cleaned regularly but some people are being inconsiderate and leave things dirty or don't tidy up.
A lot of the inconveniences are caused by others guests so the hostel isn't really at fault.
K. H.This hostel is in a really good plase, close to everything you're gonna wanna do in the CBD. Lots of public transport and within walking distance of shops and bars etc. It can get a bit noisy at times because the place is huge - but the flip side is getting to meet so many cool people from around the world, and the staff were awesome, too!
B. S.We love staying at Base! We’ve stayed there as a family a few times now and it’s been perfect. Once we stayed in an ensuite king room - super spacious with enough room for the cot - with a TV and aircon. We have also stayed in a 4 share dorm with a bathroom that we had all to ourselves and the kids loved the bunk beds! The location is perfect to visit the family friendly Darling Harbour and everything else in town too. Right opposite Town Hall Station it’s really easy to get to - during the week you can also get a really cheap dinner in the station as the Italian takeaway sells end of day pasta boxes for $5!

L. C.Stayed here a while ago, been to most Base hostels in New Zealand and they alway have a lot going on. They are perfect for a solo traveller who wants to make friends. Sydney is like that as well. Free wifi, free trips to the beach with free alcohol and food. Great days out and staff is wonderful. Also got a lot of info and help while doing my east coast to a really good price.

T. M.Hostel seemed fine on arrival. Proper central location so great for going to places like Sydney Tower Eye and short walk to the bus station to go to Bondi. The double room we was provided had good facilities and was very spacious. The staff was very friendly and hard working.
T. M.I lived in student accommodation last year so I'm used to the occasional late night noise. The staff that checked us in and all the staff in fact we're so helpful. I couldn't hear noise from the bar next door and the hostel is just a 30 minute walk to circular quay.

Mens washrooms only have 2 urinals, 3 stalls and 3 showers per floor so it can get busy in the morning/evening. Location is excellent, literally a couple blocks from Darling harbour, Central station and Chinatown. Laundry, tv room, full kitchen, lounge on site with bar/restaurant next door.
S. Z.Nice rooms, we took the ensuite option with a decent shower. Avoid the rooms near the club next door, it can be very loud so we didn't get great sleep. Previously we stayed in another room higher up or further away from the club and it was fine

W. H.Base is a great hostel for a forst time visiter to Sydney. Great atmosphere, good people, and large variety of rooms. In a fantastic position in the city - which has been benefitial for my work and leisurely activites.
One thing to note: when dealing with any of the staff at base (although they are all so helpful) Yumy has to be by far the most caring, honest, friendly and super helpful member of staff at the hostel and she handles every situation with such profession. If ever i have a problem she is always there with a solution. Her attitude and work ethic make my day everytime she is working.

fcuk are we coming to. The staff are ok alot of newbies, the rooms are as tidy as you are or you make them. The bathrooms i have not seen any porblems. So what ever you read is pretty much siht. Also the security is fine we havent had an issue just depends on the guests. We are on the top floor so cant hear the club underneath but no one is moaning about it, but when you pay for a hostel what will you expect. People do talk during the night but again your in a hostel not four seasons! There is a alot of younf guests but a fair few workers so some have been here for a while. The kitchen is decent bar the hobs that take ages so stick to pasta unless you like steamed meat.
As for that the experience has been good and there are plenty of people to get along with. So forget the other negative comments because they are to picky and come here with an open mind to meet people and have a good time

A.Location is great, it has a walkable distance to all CBD attractions. The rooms were reasonably clean. There is just a lack of bathroom facilities. Also stuff were bold and nice.

-Excellent kitchen, with stove cook tops, and a decent amount of fridge space along the wall.
-Laundry has several washing machines and dryers both machines taking $4.00 per wash or dry
(Dryers are awesome as they will continue to dry for a maximum of 60 minutes)
-Bathrooms are slightly more modern when compared to other backpackers.
-Bedding along with mattress protectors gets changed frequently by the friendly housekeepers by doing this minimizes bedbugs which infact ive never once had any isses with them here at the Xbase as ive had at other backpackers.
However if you are a new backpacker please know that you are expected to be an adult and get along with everyone in your dorm aswell as everywhere throughout the backpackers even if they are disrespectful by having loud sex in your dorm room.. if you wish to call it live porn its your choice but it happens whether you like it or not! But i guess if you wish to inform reception they may ask you if you want to change dorm rooms but no matter what dorm room you go to theres no garantee that it wont happen again its just people arent really respectful these days unfortunately. Everyone pays the same price in the dorm room but yet some people have no choice to suffer as the couple whom chooses to have sex refuses to get a private room for the night.
At times you may even come across others that are in your dorm room that may be controlling by trying to tell you what to do now and then, but i like to block out the noise by putting in my earphones and watching netflix but then theres also times where i cant watch netflix as i can't afford paying extra on top of my weekly rent here at the Xbase for wifi Internet.
Put these things to the side and i give this place a total of 5 stars as whilst you're staying at the Xbase you can show your key card to the security out on the door of Scary Conary to get into the nightclub/bar for free and at times they have cheap drinks and everyday they also have happy hour aswell.
This place is just the bomb! You will love it if you are into.. drinking a few, going clubbing, and having fun doing other activities!!
I highly recommend Xbase to any traveler as its the best ive come across so far!!
Even though im not going to miss the INCONSIDERATE DISRESPECTFUL guests ive had in my dorm room i must admit im going to miss staying here as the staff at the Xbase are fabulous and without them i wouldnt of had the same awesome experience ive had when i first arrived they truly look after their guests!!

S. L.Very little space in the 8 person dorm for your things, you only get a locker under the bed. Kitchen is extremely busy at meal times therefore you could be waiting some time, equally the fridges are full of other peoples things, may struggle to find a space. Wifi is fast enough but pretty expensive (should be free) and only available in the lounge and reception area. Kitchen, showers and rooms are very clean. Shelf space is needed in the shower cubicals. Only one of the 4th floor male showers worked. Would not reccommend, you can easily find much better value for money nearby. 3/5

Guests in my room were too messy and the room was totally unkempt. Breakfast was unpalatable with very little choice which comes with an additional price of $6.
The merits of stay include,
1. Situated in CBD, walkable distance from Sydney central, Hyde park, Sydney tower, darling harbour, madam tussads etc
2. Economical accommodation
The demerits are
1. Your stay may not be comfortable and end up with lack of sleep
2. Guests are responsible for their belongings.
O. M.A little noisy sometime due to the bar/club downstairs ("scary canary"). Really convenient location (5 minute walk to darling harbour, town hall station nearly across the street), really nice bar, great people.

C.I had looked up the place on the internet but before confirming the room I went and checked it out that is the reason I booked it even though it was 32 Australian dollars cause if I had to do it online I would have looked for a cheaper option..... everything is good about the hostel very clean and classy environment.... when you enter there's a lot of staff that is ready to help you because at base Sydney you can book other packages and tours... I also liked this new way of opening your room they have an app which they ask you to download at check-in and you are told that there is a free Wi-Fi but only after i checked into the dorm I understood that they do not have a free wifi in your room, only the Wi-Fi is free in the reception lobby area on the ground floor and if you want it in your room you have to buy internet service this is something I did not like about this hostel because in today's time free wifi is what everyone expects... the base Sydney hostel is right in the city centre and the Town Hall railway station is just five minutes walking distance lots and lots of places are walking distance from this place so I loved its location....as you get outside there are Pubs, bars and many restaurants to eat food.... there is a 7-Eleven just three buildings away ....coles is about 8 to 10 minutes of walk ....Westfield market is again just five minutes walking distance ...so basically it is in a happening area .... the thing that is not good about the place is that you get to hear a lot of noises in the night people shouting and screaming so if you are a light sleeper it can keep you awake all night.... the air conditioning in the room was not so good I complained again again about the air conditioner but nothing was done ....Andrea among all the staff is very soft spoken,very very sweet, kind and yes Kate the manager was very nice also.... the kitchen is on the -2 level it has a lot of space and tables for people to sit and have their breakfast lunch or dinner this was the best thing that I enjoyed because I would buy stuff from Coles and at least have a nice breakfast of my choice..... they had so many refrigerators and people would just get their bags and put it in those refrigerators ...the dorm had clean beds and I cannot thank them enough to give me a room which was wheelchair accesible and right opposite the dorm there was accessible washroom for which they gave me a special key card it was so huge and fully accessible with a seat for shower also.... they have a ramp even at the entrance so I would say it is very much wheelchair accessible....
