Good hostel with good price and good location. Friendly staff,spacious private room with own bathroom. Our bedroom was located next to the elevator so at some time it was a big noisy. The kitchen and common area is definitely to small for the hostel

Overall good experience, staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Facilities are clean. Definitely good value for money and I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a nice place to stay, I would recommend it for the budgeters out there that need a night somewhere clean.

Awesome place!! They have private hotel type rooms and dorm type of accommodation. Stayed there multiple times and it was always clean and friendly. Free breakfast in the morning of toast and jams, tea and coffee. It doesn’t feel like regular over used backpacker accomodation, but more boutique environment. The location is unbeatable, with all modes of transportation at your fingertips. Very close to museums, parks, entertainment areas and Oxford st. It was always amazing to stay at Big Hostel.

The hostel was ridiculously clean. The room & toilets were also clean. 👍👍👍😁😁😁. The staff were friendly & very informative on their hostel as well as the attractions nearby. The bedsheets were clean (no itchy itchy). But they only have 1 small heater for one room which was not enough during cold season. The hangout zone & shared kitchen was spacious and clean. The room & toilet was also spacious. Also, their security was very good (feel very safe in their hostel). Overall the stay was nice & awesome. 😉

We stayed there in a 4 bed room with private bathroom. The room was basic, there were locker in the room, a small TV at wall and 2 bunk beds, but that was all we needed. The bathroom was clean and also had the shower. Before the window there was a bug sign, so we couldn't see anything through it. The common area and kitchen was quite busy during the prime times and there were always people around to which you could talk. The staff was very helpful, raven in the night when we arrived at 0:30 am.

I've been in this hostel 4 months and it felt like home. Such a lovely place. Incredibly nice staff. The manager helen takes care of everything, a good rooftop and kitchen is mostly clean, and offers everything you need. And most important! Really quiet! The reception is always there if you have a problem and finds a way for a solution. Would always come back and would suggests to anyone. Thank you for everything!

By far the best hostel I've stayed. Friendly staff, great location and although it's not a party hostel, the other roommates are usually keen to socialise. Common areas are great, specially the rooftop. Originally checked in for 2 weeks, but stayed a bit longer as I loved the hostel. Made friends for life here!

Shared 6 bed dorm with only one person so it was quiet and comfortable. Room was tidy with big locker, sheets were clean. Doors in the toilet were a bit broken, but clean. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Great location!

Stayed three nights in Feb. Location is convenient and staff is helpful. Station is close and many tourist spot are around. Historical buildings, museum, harbour, opera house, shopping area, business district, cafe and restaurants etc. Walking around those places under beautiful weather is great experience. If you like walking, here is good option because i didn’t need public transport except airport train.

Truly nice. I booked it online from Europe without knowing very well the conditions of the hotel. From the first day very good attention. Even by email a few days before my arrival. My second trip to Australia I returned, to stay there. And I think that whenever I visit Sydney I will go to Big Hostal. Very nice reception and attentive and helpful staff. Clean rooms. You can cook yourself and youth atmosphere

Have stayed here a few times. Its a great location right near Central Station and the CBD. The place is always neat and well maintained. I always get a single room and these are very neat. One of the best backpackers in Sydney.

Really enjoyed this hostel as a solo female traveler. There seemed to be a lot of long term staying guests which made it a very respectful, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Not a party hostel, but still easy to make friends. 10 minutes by train to and from airport and walking distance to Darling Harbour, Chinatown and CBD. Also breakfast was basic, but very convenient if you’re on a budget!

The loction of the Hostel is perfect, the kitchen ans its equipments were great. I've stayed in a 4-female form. The had enough place with two bunk beds and 4 lockers. I've missed the shelves and the lamps on the bedside. The staff were nice and informative.

The staff is nice and the hostel is quiet. It's a quiet hostel for backpackers. However the bathrooms are not always clean, the shower head leaks for 3-4 days before being maintained. The floor is wet and the toilet has urine on it. The sinks in the kitchen aren't always clean either. The knives need to be sharpened. The breakfast is also very simple, just toasts, milk, cereals and all kinds of jam.

Good hostel! Clean, lovely staff, really laid back, quiet, can definitely recommend! Breakfast with all you really need (different muesli, milk, bread and basic spreads). The only thing is price, quite a lot for just a hostel!

Very good hostel, the common room is big and comfortable, with fast wifi connection, TV and books. Kitchen is clean and has everything you need to cook, plus in the morning free breakfast is available (toast, spreads, cereals, coffe, tea and milk)! I was in an 8 female dorm and the room was big and the bed comfortable. When I had a problem the friendly staff was always ready to help, thank you guys!

Very good location, friendly and helpfull staff. I stayed in 3 bed room with privaty bathrom. The room and bath is small but enought for the price. Everything was clean! We could not open the window and air condition works for whole building but for 2 days stay, it was not a problem for us. The breakfest are toast with jam , butter and basic tea and coffe- everything prepared by yourself. I am very satisfied with this accompdation in Sydney. I really recommend it! :) thanks

Very enjoyable experience breakfast was awsome. the luggage cage for people who check out but going site seeing can leave there bags at the hostel free of charge. Close to central station. Nice view of Sydney tower from the roof top terrace.

The most amazing staff, they'll answer any questions you have and if the don't know the answer they'll find it for you or find where you can get it! Unfailingly polite and cheerful. The rooms are a good size with plenty of space in the middle so you don't feel crowded even in an eight person room. The kitchen is old but well maintained. Any mess I came across was not due to lack of cleaning (there's always somebody cleaning) but inconsiderate guests. The rooms are vacuumed daily and each bed has a power outlet. The location is great as you can walk to pretty much all the big ticket places. I intend to stay there again when I'm back in Sydney.

Best Hostel in Sydney, very professional and clean and tidy. Great weekly rates and lovely staff. Big Hostel is the place to stay in the CBD. The place is excellent, superbly clean, kind and very professional staff, excellent facilities and good location, they have lifts and 24:7 reception. Huge gas kitchen. Large relaxation space, right near Central Station, stunning rooftop lounge and great storage cages.

Facilities are a bit outdated but clean and well organized. Room I stayed was 6 male and it’s on an small end. I don’t really mind because I only just need a bed to sleep. One power outlet per bed so it’s standard. However, I took one star off because the hostel is quite limited on activities. I actually checked in twice and neither time I was told there were any organized parties or social events. People are in groups (German and Chinese). I have friends in Sydney so I did not try to mingle. In all, if you see a good deal and you want a place to relax, this is the spot. However, if you want some backpacker style parties, I won’t recommend this place.

Location is awesome, so close to many restaurants, cinema, shopping precincts etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Luggage hold is perfect if you don't want to venture into the city carting around heavy suitcases after you have checked out. All linen supplied is fresh and clean...the only minor downfall for me was the shower curtain, which I am not a fan of anyway.

I checked availablity over the phone and booked it online. The reviews seemed too good to be true but I just wanted to stay overnight. But I must say I'm totally bowled over. I LOVED IT. Room and beds are clean, sheets are clean, storage provided in each room is sufficient, toilets are clean and well stocked, the kitchen is small but very well organised and maintained, clear instructions and rules provided at all relevant spots, the front desk is helpful (they gave me a lock and key to use for my locker), situated close enough to central but not too close to be noisy, great nightlife in the area, BREAKFAST OPTIONS ARE THE BEST AMONG ALL BACKPACKER HOSTELS I'VE BEEN TO. Sounds too good to be true? Experience it for yourself and you'll agree with my review above.

Big Hostel is an incredible hostel. The rooms are spacious and bright, with big personal lockers and space to hang clothes. The mattresses are in perfect condition and are very comfortable. All the spaces are very clean and neat. They are cleaned many times a day, including the floors of the rooms that are vacuumed every day. The kitchen is spacious with all the elements for cooking, many burners, hot and cold drinking water, coffee, tea and sugar available all day. Also space to save your food in the freeze and outside in shelves. The bathrooms are spacious, clean, and there are hair dryers available to use. Breakfast is plentiful, lactal bread, jam, butter, milk and cereals, everything you want to eat until full. There are plugs throughout the common room, which is good for connecting the laptop or cell phones. The wifi works very well. There is a beautiful terrace full of plants, tables and armchairs to rest in the sun or at night. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help and give advice. The location is great too, next to central station and many bus stops. I recommend 100% Big Hostel!

Really nice and helpful staff but disgusting dorm. Good option for travelers on a budget who don't care much about cleanliness. Sluggish WiFi only in the common room and on the M floor. I stayed in a 4 beds room with private bathroom. The room wasn't clean when I got there and did never get cleaned before I left, neither did the bathroom. The other 3 guests had stuff all over the floor and rubbish scattered around. One of them didn't even use the bed linen and slept directly on the mattress. The room had a window but couldn't be opened, the only source of "fresh air" was from an AC system.

We had a great stay at Big Hostel. The hostel is centrally located and is very close to both the city centres and all the public transport. The reception staff (shoutout to Hellen) were all extremely friendly and welcoming, and made for a great stay in Sydney. The rooms and communal areas were kept tidy during our stay, and the rooftop was a pleasant surprise and had lovely views of Sydney. PS, the free breakfast was definitely a great bonus!

I stayed at the hostel for 3 nights April 2019 I am very please with the Big Hostel. The hostel is in the perfect location. Just a five minutes walk to the Central station. Not far from the Hyde Park. The staff members ROCK!!! I met many nice travelers and staff members at the BH . Steve the front desk receptionist is really a great guy very helpful!! The TV room is really nice. It attach to the Kitchen and tables there to enjoy breakfast with other fellows. Kitchen open up around the clock so you can enjoy getting your mid night snack stored in the food shelf or refrigerator. There is a roof top available to enjoy the fresh air and chit chat with travelers. I had an 8 bed dormitory which was fine with me. There also a locker available you just need to buy your own lock. you can buy a small combination number lock at the front desk. If you want a lock with a key you need to get it at the "Convience store" for $5AU. same price for the combination lock. I prefer the lock with key type so it easier to open and close especially at night when there others sleeping at night so, you do not have to worry using the flash light to look at the number on the combination lock. When checking in they provide you a clean sheet and pillow case you put on by your self and remove the sheet and pillow case before check out. I had a hard time putting sheet on on the top bunk bed. As far as for breakfast, Food are totally alternative. What you get is bread for toast, cereal, tea and coffee. The Kitchen have a lot of ample space for cooking and storing your food. There is a computer available if you get tired of using your laptop or your phone of courses. Location is about 98 walk score. There a 7-11 store, Convience store, Yok Yok Thai restaurant just two blocks very good thai food. Spicy I am is another Thai restaurant. Vietnamese restaurant I did not dry. Sash Japanese restaurant just one block is $$$ expensive it basically a shared type of food I had small taco sushi for $9 I had two of them total of $18 plus surchage total of $20.00 the waitress are very friendly, chef is great. Laudnry is available to do a load is $8.00 total. cup of soap $1.00 Wash is $4.00 Dry is $4.00 Totalis $9.00 Very clean Very friendly totally secure Location is great Next time I stay at the big hostel I want to get a 4 bed dormitory type with a private bathroom disabled access. I would recommend this hostel to solo travelers

What a lovely experience :) I loved my stay at Big Hostel! We arrived early and the staff were happy to check us in to our room ahead of the usual check in time. I stayed in a private ensuite room which was exceptionally clean, super comfy and had extra pillows and towels. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was similar to a tropical rain forrest - just perfect! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, showing us how to use the public transport and local spots to check out. We stayed on the weekend and the vibe was awesome - a great mix of people chatting and hanging out in the common area around the super comfy couches. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again! Thanks guys :)

I absolutely loved staying at Big Hostel in Sydney. The staff was very friendly, they have got me checked in already at 9:00 am straight after I had arrived from Melbourne, although the check-in usually starts at 1 - 2 pm. Apart from that they already offered me to join the free breakfast at my arrival day. I was staying in a 8 bed dorm room, which was quite big, there is one locker per person and also enough power plugs to get your electronic devices charged. The WiFi is available on the ground floor and it is working perfectly, even in the evening, when all the guests seem to use it. All the main attractions are in real walking distance, supermarket's just 5 min away. If I come back to Sydney once I'll definitely stay there again!

Well some might think $199 for a week is a little expensive but if your looking for a clean and safe place with friendly staff and good rooms, and of course the free breaky and tea and coffee all day is a bonus this is the the place to be! Service is amazing, truly exceptional. They answer your questions with a genuine smile. Location is good, it is right besides Chinatown and Haymarket. I've stayed in two rooms because I booked a couple of extra nights but the room I was akready staying in was full. The first room was an 8 bed dorm, the second a 4 bed dorm. Both room were good but the 8 bed room was right beside the street(and it is a busy street) and with 8 people you want to have a window open. The 4 bed room had an en suite bathroom and was more tucked away. But it was lacking power outlets, so that was a bit annoying. It was also more expensive obviously.

Big. Not that big but big enough. Big in friendly staff. Customer service was excellent. Big in hygiene. The place is clean. Kitchen too every time I looked at it. No mould in our bathroom. Bed sheet looked professionally cleaned and whiter than white. Big on location location location! Near central station, near late dining Chinatown area, near enough CBD, near most important bus stops. All at easy walking distance. Rooftop accessible. Big on choice. From 8/6/4 dorms and ensuite for the last. And private rooms. Check out at 11 is appreciated with no fuss. Laundry, free internet computer and WiFi, there is a not so big lift but that's fine. I haven't tried it but there is a TV and remote in 4 bed dorms. 24h staff. Bring a padlock if you want to lock safely some items as lockers in rooms are available. Lost a Star in review coz one room was smaller than other at same price and once filled with luggage not much space to walk on. The other was great. Also lack of power plugs but i understand the cost involved if completed. Simple power plugs could be a bonus. Overall am very very happy and will be back for sure if need to be in city and will recommend to anyone i know. I'll stop here or I won't leave the Big hostel as I can enjoy coffee or tea all day. The staff here were super helpful at checking us in and providing us information about activities and events going on in town. The location is really amazing - walkable to most thing a visitor wishes to see. The private room with ensuite is reasonable considering price however it does lack an openable window or air-conditioning/fan control which made it a little uncomfortable.

Next to Central Station and 15 min path of the Opera House, in front there is the option of taking a free bus to the Harbour. Dorms with shared bathroom, wifi and basic breakfast included, you can use kitchen. On another occasion surely repeat. I was staying in a 8 bed dorm room, which was quite big, there is one locker per person and also enough power plugs to get your electronic devices charged. The WiFi is available on the ground floor and it is working perfectly, even in the evening, when all the guests seem to use it.

the entrance it's nice but the other things need to paint, the rooms are spacious and have big locks for the bags, should be nice to change just the face of the walls and remove the curtains of the windows. Just bring the design of the entrance to the other things like rooms, etc. And change the key system to a card key please.
