A. N.The place has long-term guests who are often drunk at night. Since rooms are poorly ventilated, staying with such guests will not be suitable for me as the room stinks due to them smelling alcohol during night. They even dirty toilets. Management is respectful and treats me well. Due to those long-terms guests, the place was not suitable for me to continue and hence had to come out early.
On the positive side, the hostel is comparatively a decent place and cleaners are prompt in keeping the place clean. It is secure and prices are affordable. I would recommend this place with the condition of selecting the right rooms where the guests are decent. Ideally, management has very less handle on such guests at this point in time.
Management is professional (especially the sisters) comparing with other hostels in the area.

V. M.I stayed at this hostel a few times and I loved it. It's really sociable and I met great people there. The location is fantastic and the common areas are perfect to make new friends. Only con are the rooms which are way too hot in summer ( no air con) so I could hardly sleep at night because of the heat. Would recommend staying here, especially as solo traveller

O.Such a great hostel great for first Time backpackers and solo travellers made lots of friends here and the staff were great the weekend manager was fantastic and made everyone feel so involved and welcome the staff really make the place the best hostel in Sydney by far! Extended my stay was that nice and people who moved hostels in Sydney still came back to the blue parrot for the people and atmosphere in be evening so that says it all! Only thing I will say is that I would just label your food in a bag with your name room number and check out date on makes it easier on the staff to help clean the fridges out and kitchen clean! Great hostel if I'm ever in Sydney I know where to stay!
J. V.My sister and I spent 3 nights at Blue Parrot Backpackers and loved our stay.
We checked in with Jorge who was so kind and helpful. He introduced us to everyone we encountered and made us feel comfortable.
Everyone is really respectful of others and friendly.
We checked out with Connie who stored our suitcase while we were heading for breakfast.
I've also been in touch with her for a lost and found enquiry. Connie was really efficient and handled it really well.
We will definitely recommend it again and hope to be back in the future.

H. B.Amazing place. I came here alone and made so many great friends and I have so many wonderful memories of the Good Old Parrot! I love love love Sasha and Effie - and of course mama (LOL!).
The rooms are perfect and because The Blue Parrot only holds up to around 50/60 people it really does feel like home, you can meet more people that way and it feels safe to leave your stuff around. The hostel is cleaned every single day, so there is nothing to worry about when it comes to place being clean. Also, the long-term people who stay in the hostel get involved with nights out (which is every night, those girls know how to party!) Even after I left, I used to come up and visit everyone like once a week!
I recommend this place to anyone who is coming to Sydney, its right in Potts Point, so its really where you want to be if you are staying in Sydney. It's a 10 minute walk tops into the city and has everything close by - What more could you ask for!?
The people are amazing, the hostel is amazing and the location is amazing.
I think I have over-used the word amazing but yeah - I rest my case!
D. A.I've stayed at a few hostels around the world and this little hostel has to be one of my favorites! The Blue Parrot is like a big house with an easy-going friendly atmosphere, perfect for people like me travelling solo. It mostly attracts people in their 20s and everyone is quite social – I found it easy to meet people. It has the coolest staff in Sydney, clean place and great location. I had to do some online work and the internet was reliable and fast which is important for me. Will be recommending it to all my friends and can't wait to return!
A. D.Staff was very nice and welcoming (thanks Mark and Sasha) . We really felt like we were important guest. Nice atmosphere to meet other travelers. Nice and big kitchen and clean. Furniture like bed frames and plugs and storage could be improved. Top bunks need plug and shelf to put stuff. There is a bunch of long term backpacker that can be messy in a dorm but they are still very nice. Nice location 5min walk to King Cross Station and 30min walk to the opera. Well managed and strict rules wich is necessary sometimes.
D. C.This place is brilliant, the rooms are big and they have there own lockers which should make looking after your stuff easier, the beds are comfy you even get a spare blanket. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The area itself is great and five minute walk to King cross station and plenty of great cheap food and pubs. The only downside is the shop owner beneath the hostel, I think he wanted to be a DJ at some point because all you hear is "thud thud thud" of his music which, for some reason" gets louder after a certain time when you're trying to get to sleep. Bring earplugs and you got a great hostel.
Edit after the owners saw this review they aptly offered to move me into a better room which had a private entrance suite, and they would speak to the shop owner. This hostel prides itself on its hospitality which it definitely lives up to its reputation, to say they go above and beyond is an under statement.
D. G.The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were calm and clean. So if you have some neck and back pain from travelling, they'll should soon be cured. The staff was mostly friendly (some staff members were weird, but I can get over it), and the atmosphere of this small hostel is familiar and homely.
The only things i didn't like were the small and old bathrooms with small sinks.
S.The staff is friendly and you meet nice people there. But it's not too clean. Although the showers are cleaned regularly (almost every day i guess) and you get fresh tissues for the bed many things look far cleaner and newer on the webpage than in real. You need to add around 25 years to what you see on the webpage. I got a lot better value for price in Brisbane, Sydney may be generally more expensive.

W.This is my second stay at this hostel and I'm happy to say I had another great stay :-) Some of the nicest staff I've encountered, clean rooms, communal areas and convenient location. there's just a nice friendly atmosphere there as most people are travelling solo and keen to have a chat and hang out

Staff and residents are incredibly friendly and it is probably the easiest place to make friends when you are traveling by yourself. It is very clean, has great reliable internet and there are always friendly people who want to go out party or just have a quite day at the beach.
This place is my home away from home and I am not the only one. I have met many people who consider the Blue Parrot their home and keep coming back to it. You know a hostel is good when it doesn't just live off new customers, but always have people come back.

What I really like is that there is no craziness with hyper 18 year olds, drinking is allowed but not past 11pm so if you want a good night sleep you easily can
P. R.I stayed in the BP hostel as my very first time backpacking alone and it was in hindsight the best hostel I've ever stayed in.
I made friends really quickly and the owners are two very welcoming ladies (and yes guys they are hot too so it's a nice welcome in every sense of the word!).
The place has a really warm family feel because it's not massive and it's ideally located for walking to the city too!
It's so good, I go nack there every time I come back to Sydney atm.
K. M.Nice small hostel with absolutely lovely people, the rooms are very nice, the kitchen and the restrooms are good. There exists a small backyard and a group room with nice seating possibilities, a huge TV with netflix, lots of DVDs and a Playstation3. Only Thing that might cause a little inconvenience is the WiFi, it gets pretty slow in the evening when everybody is around and logged in. It might not be the cheapest hostel out there, but it's damn worth every penny.

H. W.Awesome hostel had an amazing time at the Blue Parrot! Everyone from staff to guests are just really cool people that i had to leave a review! I've been backpacking for the last 3 months and this little hostel is one of my favourites...it's clean, got free internet, nice staff and great location. It has the most social atmosphere of any hostel i've stayed at. And as a female traveller i felt safe and found it really easy to meet other people here. Just do yourself a favour and stay at the Blue Parrot when you're in Sydney, you'll love it!
F. M.Its a really good Place. Its like a Family there. Not to big, but you have enough people around. Its in the near of many bars and only 20 min walk to circular quay and center. Its one of the expensives ones around but it worth it. Its clean there. The Staff are friendly and maybe 1-2 times in the Month they have a BBQ (thanks Al). I stay there a long time and loved the Time there.
C. T.A somewhat older hostel that is saved by great staff, wifi and a fantastic TV/movie room. The location is pretty good, being outside the hum of Kings Cross but close to everything you need, including groceries. The rooms are fairly antiquated and the kitchen is small for the number of people staying there. Overall, given the high prices and difficulty in getting a bed, it's a bit overrated, but you can certainly do worse in Sydney.
J. M.Blue Parrot backpackers is the wonderful little hostel. Welcoming staff, sociable atmosphere, and easy to meet people. Clean and in a great location for sight seeing and soaking in the Sydney cafe culture. Plus they give you free wifi :-)
D. M.Great location and price. Staff was helpful when they were around. They sell locks if you need one for the locker, but I think they also could sell power adapters or cords as well. I needed one and there were no close stores. :(

A small house that make a quiet place, friendly as you can meet some people and look some Netflix series together (as we are sharing the lounge :) Friendly staff that helped us to find a nice place to eat and drink for my birthday.

R.Comfortable backpackers in the middle of a buzzing place KX! 10 mins out of the CBD.
Just the right size place so you get to meet people and make friends in no time, without feeling completely lost amongst hundreds of other backpackers like you can do in other, bigger, cheaper BPKs.
Welcoming staff and clean facilities make for a great stay.
Only downside is the high rates and no long-stay deals. But still, worth it!

A. R.When you want to rest and just chill out, this is the right place but it is not a place with a great friendly atmosphere. So many rules to respect and sometimes that are not justified. The terasse closes at 9:00pm and at 9:03pm they ask you to go inside.
Otherwise it is clean. In my opinion, It is just an old place.

딱 무난한수준. 욕실은 개선여지가 있음. 무선데이터는 그다지 품질이 뛰어나지는 않으나 호주평균인듯. 듣자하니 한 디바이스당 2기가 제공임. 객실에서도 쓸수있는 장점도 있음. 역에서 걸어서 5분정도 걸리지 싶음. 시티까지 걸어서 20-30분정도 걸리며 산책하며 걷기 괜찮음
F. M.(Translated) It is a nice place where you try to keep clean. Every day you notice that they clean everything but then it depends on the guests to see if it stays clean. It has clear rules. They charge 20 dollars of deposit that they returned to me when doing the check out. It has 3 refrigerators and a freezer. It has a place for food where you label what is yours. I also have a part that there are things and they belong to everyone.
The room is clean they give you a mattress cover, a sleeping bag and a pillow. It has some lockers where a regular size backpack comes in, not the ones that go camping. It has 3 bathrooms on the top floor and one on the ground floor that two of them are chicoa and another is larger.
Finally has laundry. The machine to wash and the dryer comes out 4 dollars.
The location is good. A few blocks from the King Cross station that leaves you in the center. Or 50 meters from bus 211 that leaves you in tourist areas.

Es un lindo lugar donde se intenta mantener la limpieza. Todos los días se nota que limpian todo pero luego depende de los huéspedes para ver si se mantiene limpio. Tiene reglas claras. Cobran 20 dólares de deposito que me devolvieron al hacer el check out. Cuenta con 3 heladeras y un freezer. Tiene un lugar para la comida donde etiquetas lo qiue es tuyo. Tambien tie e una parte que hay cosas y son de todos.
La habitación está limpia te dan un cubre colchon, una bolsa de dormir y una almohada. Tiene unos lockers donde entra una mochila tamaño regular no la de los que se van de camping. Cuenta con 3 baños en la planta alta y uno en la planta baja que dos de ellos son chicoa y otro es más grande.
Por último tiene lavanderia. Sale 4 dolares la maquina para lavar y otro tanto la secadora.
La ubicación es buena. A unas cuadras de la estación King Cross que te deja en el centro. O a 50 metros del autobus 211 que te deja en zonas turísticas.
