Comments of Coolangatta Estate

My partner and I went to Coolangatta Estate and did the ‘Premium Tour’ with Bruno. His love and passion for the history of the place made the tour such a wonderful experience. My partner and I hadn’t done any walking tours before and Bruno has set the bar high.
Bruno’s wealth of knowledge about the Estate was fantastic and he knew the answer to every question we had. The staff were fantastic, generous food portions and the wine was nothing short of spectacular. We bought a case and can’t wait to open them. Thank you
D. G.
Bruno took us on a Coolangatta Estate “Premium” Tour, we absolutely loved it! He was an amazing wealth of knowledge and to be able to share in the verbal history of this place and then see so many hidden secrets and to explore convict history was just incredible. We loved every bit! We finished off with a taste testing and grazing board, which just made it even more special when you hear why certain wines are named and the stories behind them. Thank you for a fabulous experience, we highly recommend. Thank you
S. W.
We had the best walking tour at Coolangatta Winery Estate for our friends special birthday!
Bruno our tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the estate that he has worked on for years, it was infectious. We were there for around 4 1/2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed every minute and left knowing about not just the vines but the full history of how the Coolangatta Estate came about
Will definitely be recommending to friends
Great day out

Spent a few days here and had an amazing time! Staff were lovely - had the best wine tasting experience I've had with Tony telling us all about the wine and providing a very informed history on each bottle which was very entertaining!
Beautiful scenery and a place with an incredible history. Will definitely have to make the trip from Victoria to go back one day ☺️

We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Coolangatta Estate, charming with its rustic feel and deep historical roots spanning 200 years.
Our enthusiastic hosts Bruno and Maree were very warm and welcoming, and shared the rich history of the estate and their philosophy with us during our wine tasting experiences. Would highly recommend the wine tastings to fully experience the estate.
We also highly recommend the walking tour of the Coolangatta Estate, as guided by the very knowledgeable Bruno, which let us fully immerse in the history of the place and it’s more recent connection to wine making. The beautiful views of the Shoalhaven Region and the preservation of the estate’s heritage make the tour unique. At the end of the walking tour we enjoyed a selection of wines and deli board, made all the more significant after the walk.
We enjoyed our stay in the servants quarters; one of the original buildings on the estate now restored to accomodation, and enjoyed watching the sunset from the higher vantage point of the vineyard at the base of the Coolangatta Mountain.
Thank you for everything, we will be recommending to family and friends.

We had a lovely day out, with my mum and husband. Our hostest was Maree who was great giving us the history of the place and explaining each of the wines.
Looking forward to going back and enjoying all the winery has for us to experience.

Mitchell was amazing!!! Thank you for making my daughter’s hen’s all the more enjoyable. You dealt appropriately and well with the humour and frivolity and your sales reflected your expert knowledge of our local area and your product range. Well done!!!

Spent a great hour or so here today, tasting their lovely wines. Tony was an enthusiastic and entertaining host and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Highly recommended - we will be back !

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon here tasting some great wines and suitably attended to by Bruno who is a wealth of information and happy to share his knowledge. We will definitely be back and extend thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Mitchell is a mad dog. Went here as part of a winery tour and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely impressed.

I have been coming here every year since I was a baby to this incredible place.
The food, accommodation, staff, the history and the whole feeling of Coolangatta Estate is just so special. ❤️

Went here during queens birthday when everything was booked out and packed. Even though they were busy, the wine tasting was not rush and we had an amazing experience. Special thanks to Tasman who gave us the friendliest service and helped us book lunch! Really nice vibes outdoor with music and delicious fresh food - would definitely come back and recommend to visit here if you can!

My fiancé and I visited Coolangatta Estate to consider having our wedding reception there! We were overwhelmed with a wonderful tour of the Estate, and a complimentary wine tasting and deli board! It was a lovely day and our experience was tops. We decided not to get married there for several unrelated reasons, but we were so delighted to have had such an amazing experience, all thanks to Jennifer their event manager.

We went in for a wine tasting and came out with seven bottles of wine. Fantastic staff who were extremely knowledgeable not only of the wine but also the history of the estate. I can definitely recommend visiting here for some beautiful wines. We loved the whites!
B. C.
Beautiful location! Incredible staff! Delicious food! Amazing history! Wonderful wine!

Great wine tasting experience. The team here really know their stuff. Recommend visiting.

Some staff were lovely, some not so. Some wines were nice, some not so. The place is beautiful and the whole site is an amazing piece of history. It's definitely a great experience to visit the estate but from a wine-front it's quite underwhelming.

Went for a wine tour this morning and had Maree as wine guru. She was incredible! I love that she took the time to tell us the amazing history of the estate. The wine was fantastic. So good that we purchased 30 bottles.
c. d.
Pleasantly surprised with what we got!
Staff were friendly and very helpful. The estate is lovely and super relaxing.
Our room was perfect for what we needed and it was definitely worth its dollar.
Would happily stay there again.
Thank you!

Lovely scenery, well knowledgeable staff. Wonderful wine

The staff were a great help. The best atmosphere, great food. The wine tasting was great we had the best lady helping us explaining the wines. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a holiday can't complain about anything.

We got married in the estate in 2019, and returned for out first anniversary in 2020. Beautiful place, lovely wine, great staff.
We will be back many times in the years to come.

An excellent place to stay, to have a function or simply to have lunch and/or wine tasting. Amazing views, rustic historic buildings and great food.
The staff are very friendly and their selection of wines is quite unique. The views are spectacular in every direction and there's a tour service that takes you up the mountain.
The car park is near the restaurant and winery and disabled access is reasonable.

We stayed at the blacksmiths lodge. Our stay was pleasant except for absolutely no internet connection throughout our stay. I had an important work call and the only strong connection was the staff wifi which they wouldn’t share for just an hour. The checkout service is also very inconvenient. We wanted to leave early but had to wait for the offices to be open to check out. It was an ordeal.
C. B.
Great service and even got to try the freshly hand picked tempranillo grapes!
J. B.
Second time stay at this historic estate recently, first visit 5 years ago. Could not fault this place then or now. Convict built cottages have been restored into rooms. Is good value for money and the historical experience. Rooms are clean and are supplied with all required. Beds are very comfy. Staff are very helpful at reception and cellar room. Off the main road and very relaxing. Thank you for a great 3 day break.
S. S.
We stayed in 'The Lodge' for two nights and we loved it. Well worth the price and the view from lounge. With a toddler we thought that the separate lounge area, with dining area was great. They even arranged a baby cot for us, and our toddler slept well too. ;) There is definitely some scope for improvement like a touch of interior update. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again.
C. M.
We had a fabulous time staying here, our room was lovely and the estate is beautiful. We especially enjoyed our wine tasting and our host Maree was lovely and very knowledgeable.

We were spending a weekend in the area and looking for a place to dine on Saturday night. We chose one restaurant but it was already booked so we then called Coolangatta Estate to see if they could fit us in. They said no problem.
After we made the booking, I read some of the negative reviews and was then having second thoughts, but we kept the booking regardless.
It was a great decision. The setting was beautiful. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. It was a perfect night.
We also returned the next day to buy some of their wine as it was so nice.
N. V.
My daughter had her wedding there last week. It was an amazing experience. I stayed for two nights. The accomodation was excellent and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The scenery was breathtaking and the whole experience was just unforgettable. Thank you Virginia and the team, you guys made my daughter's wedding a dream come true!

Loved Coolangatta Estate, 3 nights in a rural setting, just minutes to the beach. Lovely friendly people. Comfortable accommodation.
We normally stay in Gerroa but wanted to try Coolangatta Estate. It was a good decision. Big Foot was a highlight as was sitting outside and relaxing. The wine was good. The one drawback was Breakfast. It was disappointing. We would recommend breakfast in Berry's Sourdough or Gerringong's Sea Vista.
But overall well worth the visit
T. I. H.
A brilliant winery with more awards than they have shelves to display them. We proudly serve their wines and they're loved by all up here!!
R.
We had our wedding here back in June and it was an absolute pleasure to have it at Coolangatta. The staff were very helpful and the scenery is spectacular.
Our guests loved loved it too.
Would recommend!

We stayed in a suite in "The Cottage" as my Great Great Grandmother Jessie Hay lived there with two of her daughters until she passed away in 1929. The room was clean however there was one big cockroach which we sprayed with insect spray provided. Kitchenette was handy with fridge and plates, cutlery etc. Some ants came in so keep food in sealed containers. The pool was not clean enough to swim which didn't matter to us as we went to local beach but could be annoying to some. The reception staff were ok but didnt ask how things were with our stay. Management just needs to keep an eye on presentation and maintenance. Nice to stay in such a beautiful setting.
D. H.
Beautiful setting with a lot of history associated with the cottages and buildings onsite. However, accommodation needs some maintenance. Could be absolutely beautiful. It was still comfortable but some areas were neglected. We had what we found out was the best cottage. Grounds were beautiful.
S. P.
The winery had a cute restaurant (although I didn’t eat there). There was a live band and a nice atmosphere in the garden courtyard. The historical walk through the gardens is well worth the time. A nice place to visit and the wine was ok too!
A. M.
Ok. I give this place a 4 based on its really not bad and the complaints are minor, but it compares to some other 3’s .
Quaint place, close to Shoalhaven . Quiet.
Friendly staff
Adequate rooms. Air con not too noisy
I stayed in the stable , bed, lounge, really small tv , farm views.
Bathroom is very small. Ie while brushing teeth your legs are pushing against the toilet bowl. Not really a problem but if you are larger it might be
Microwave, jug , fridge, 17” tv

The Estate is stunning & the accommodation very boutique & lovely. Extremely disappointed about our experience in Alexander's Restaurant however. The staff were very 'Fawlty Towers'. Cold Potatoes were served, then asked if they could please make them warmer, they brought the plate back minus 1/2 the contents they took it away with, then they took it back again & brought it back without any cutlery. They also charged us for 3 glasses of wine, when we only had 2! No-one asked if we 'enjoyed our meal'?
For the prices they charge, very disappointing. Makes Outback Steakhouse look 5 star in comparison!!
J. A.
We had great accommodation in the old Stable. Room was clean and nicelty decorated. Winery itself was quite quiet on a weekday in low season.
E. K.
We had so much fun at this place and wine was really good. Bought a few bottles. Definitely a great place to taste some good quality wines.
B. c.
Decent spot, noting amazing. I'd recommend the cheese board out of everything. I had the recommended specily white wine. Which was alright but a bit of a steep price.
K. T.
Great service, amazing heritage rooms and the Estate is wonderful. The winery is expensive but if you mention you're staying at the winery you'll more than often receive a cheap, sneaky discount.
R. R.
It was a good place to stay. The lodge (where we stayed ) was a bit dated. The gardens could be so much nicer with the right plant selection an some watering.
A. W.
Nice atmosphere and great entertainment but the Christmas menu wasn’t great quality and lacked flavour and the wait time between each course was too long. Was a 40 minute wait between finishing dinner and desert.
P. F.
A stunning estate, with a welcoming cellar door. Perfect for a rehydrating rest while riding a bike in the area. Cellar door staff are informative and entertaining, and happy to show off their produce including a few grape varieties that you've probably never heard of, but are better suited to Berry's wetter climate. The Tannat is definitely worth a try.
J. G.
Had an impromptu ladys lunch today, there were 12 of us & the service was fantastc. Chef Matt was great with all our meals. Food was excellent.
Thanks for a great afternoon.
Thanks Chef Matt.

N. T.
A great wine tasting at their lovely cellar door - if you can nab Leigh you'll have a great time - great passion and knowledge of the wines!
H. B.
Great cellar door to stop in for some good tasting wines. Beautiful venue and very warm and welcoming staff! Thanks!
J. F.
Had a wonderful wine tasting with super friendly service from Ben! Nice rarely seen grapes to taste :)
P. K.
We celebrated a special birthday with friends and family, made extra special by the great meals, comfortable spacious accommodation and topped off by the super friendly and efficient staff
A. R.
Potentially great yet not maintained well. Converted from various types of convict buildings, it would benefit from some facelift.
V. W.
Beautiful property, but the food service was slow and the building needed a major renovation to say the least. Lots of potential.
J. F.
Wow what a wonderful place
We had a convict room number 3
I stayed overnight
Basic amenities
But absolutely worth your time
I loved this place
Met Ben the cellar manager
Bought award winning wine
Didn’t get to eat there so it’s on the list for another reason to go back

(Translated) A winery that I like very much, I basically only choose this one for white wine in NSW. The location is far from downtown Sydney, more than 2 hours by car. It is 10 minutes north of Nowra, less than 20 minutes drive from Kiama. So every time I have a chance to go to Kiama or JervisBay, I will drop in here and buy three or five bottles of wine. The vineyards here are not small, and roses are planted on the side to monitor the health of the grapes. It also provides event venues and accommodations. The history here is quite long, so I won’t go into details here. The old mantion building photos are also beautiful. There is also an entertainment activity in the winery, big foot, big foot cart, which can take more than 20 people, 30 minutes, up to the mountain to see the scenery, it is also a very good choice, now it should be suspended due to covid. Finally, let’s talk about wine. The white wines that have won awards in the past 8 years are worth trying, but this time I highly recommend Rose in 2020. The sweetness and acidity are particularly suitable. The only thing is that the price of more than 20 Australian dollars is a bit high. In addition, wine tasting here is now charged.
