What a convenient location to the airport but also very close to Newcastle. The food is fabulous and service very courteous. Disability accessible to highest standard, our bathroom very safe and spacious. Very clean. I am delighted and will use this hotel in future when needed to come down from Coffs.

Far exceeds most airport hotels. Room was well laid out, linen and bed comfortable, bathroom clean and well designed with good water pressure and heat. Of particular note was the food. Both at the restaurant and room service the menu was succinct but well executed. All portions were generous and exceptionally tasty, particularly amazing desserts. Well done Chef and team.

I paid $270 a night as soon as I got in my room and opened the door the smell hit me it smelt like sewerage coming up from the drains I rang downstairs and the lady decided to come up by this time I had a headache from the smell her reply ohh yeah omg

Second time I have stayed at this hotel. Rooms are very well appointed, very clean and very comfortable. Being an ACCOR gold member was upgraded to a larger room which makes longer stays very roomy. Whilst all the above is Five Star, the biggest asset this hotel has is its staff. They are so friendly, obliging and accommodating. Nothing us too hard. They always greet you with the biggest smile both on arrival and throughout your stay. This makes you feel so welcome and relaxed to stay there. Don't stop smiling guys as your guests will continue to return. Thankyou for great stays.

Great location close to the airport, quiet rooms, restaurant on site which is exceptional. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Basic gym on site. Plenty of paid parking, not secure, and not undercover. 10 min walk to the terminal. Rooms are large and have all you need for an overnight stay.

The first time i had visited the place i had stayed for 2 night and i found the rooms very nice. The space was good and kept nice and clean. The gym was very limited so i had to travel to another gym for my workout. The place is new so still in great condition. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The next time i went there i was there using their function rooms. The catering they provided was great and timely. They even allowed us to change the time of the catering due to our schedule. There were coffee machines made available for us for the whole day.

We got stuck in Newcastle and had to spend the night here. This is a very pleasant place to stay, everything considered. (Not my typical choice). All the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. Some going above and beyond their post. I really appreciated the cup of tea served outside hours at 5am as I froze on a conference call in the lobby. :-) I had been up since 3am working and didn’t want to go back to my room and wake my 3yo and husband. The internet worked well. We had a nice dinner (not expecting a Michelin star) and the staff were very tolerant of my overtired 3yo running around the restaurant like a chicken with its head cut off. The standard room was large enough and the bed comfy. Once we got the A/C working it wasn’t stuffy. I can recommend staying here.

My sister and I stayed for a weekend recently while attending a family anniversary in Nelsons Bay. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional and efficient. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The food was AMAZING and not what I would normally expect. Harley the Chef prepared the best dinner I have had in a very long time and Tree the waitress won our hearts the minute we sat down when she offered us a cushion for our backs. The night just got better from there on. Thank you Mercure for making a lovely weekend even more special for my sister and I.

Excellent decision to stay in this hotel. It is close to the airport, at a walking distance making it convenient to travelers. Rooms are clean, modern and spacious. Staff is friendly providing premium service. The bathrooms are clean, spacious and the shower is comfortable. The view from the rooms is not great. You can access a $20 breakfast voucher. The breakfast is very generous with different options including eggs, beans, sausages, bacon and potato gems. There were also pastries, bread, fruit and pancakes. Overall I recommend this hotel.

We had a brief stay after attending Newcastle for our grandfathers funeral. Checked in late and checked out early the next morning but the room was perfect and the staff were lovely. Would recommend this hotel to others. Location very convenient to the airport.

We had a 2 night stay at Mercure hotel. The room was a bit stuffy and had a strange smell when we entered, but was a well decorated and maintained room. We ordered the vegetarian ciabatta from the room service menu, and honestly it was the most disgusting thing. It was overflowing with cheese and haloumi, the humus was lumpy and 1 spinach leaf was placed in the middle of the bread. We didn't finish it. There's no lunch service and the dinner menu was limited! But, on the good side there was a fab spread of breakfast items which we thoroughly enjoyed!

Pro's - So close to the airport that you can walk to the hotel if you have a wheelie bag or backpack that you can carry yourself, about a 10 min fairly easy stroll at most. Reception will pick you up if requested, but be sure to look out for their own shuttle. Otherwise jump on the free airport shuttle marked Long-Term Car Park that will drop you off a minute's walk from Mercure. The rooms are new and stylish. Clean gym. Beautiful food in the restaurant, cooked fresh and everyone's meal looked delicious. If it's busy you should book a table in advance, or you can just choose a hearty snack like toasties, soup, pies etc and eat in the bar area or your room. The hotel is sound proof from airport and RAAF noise, its very quiet. Staff on reception and in the restaurant/bar were awesome and very helpful. Cons - Couldn't really fault it, our room did have a strange smell but it wasn't so bad that it ruined our stay as it came and went - maybe a drain that needed bleach poured down it perhaps.

Overall score 8/10 Date of visit: 21/7-24/7 Pros - Really good sound proofing from outside and other rooms - New amenities, clean and functional room, good size TV and shower - Friendly staff - USB point in room for charging ( pitty is was next to kettle and not next to the bed, a plus nether the less) Cons - No free wifi ( can't remember the pricing but is was over $10 for unlimited for 24hrs, 2 tier pricing for speed) - Poor phone service for Telstra service forcing you to use paid wifi if needing to check mail or web pages Good to know - $12 per night for parking - Restaurant downstairs with a well stocked bar - For those on a budget, McDonalds 1km up the road and we saw Dominos deliver to the Hotel - Newcastle is 25min up the road with a straightforward drive. - In house info system provides flight information which is helpful. We stayed at the Mercure Newcastle airport as we were needing to visit family close by and with all the roadworks in Newcastle did not want to deal with inconvenience so took the chance by staying at the airport. In checking in we were greeted by a friendly staff member who promptly sorted our room key and had us heading to our room within 5 min of arriving which was refreshing. We headed up to the room and opened up to a clean well layer out room.. on setting down out suitcases and doing the usual walk around to see what is what, we settled in and settled in for the evening. With staying at a Airport Hotel you would expect to hear planes and traffic constantly but it was surprising to not notice any of the noise and even when workmen were digging a hole outside as part of a drainage upgrade by the looks and I only knew that it was taking place when I opened the blinds and they had been going at it for a few hours by the progress they had made. The only concern I have with the hotel is we noticed that if someone was using the shower and someone washed their hands or flushed the toilet the shower had the ability to scold the person in the shower. As cold water would divert to the other item being used .. I have informed management of this verbally(staff were concerned at reception) and via email and I am waiting on an update from them on the outcome of this. I really enjoyed my stay and next time I need to visit family I will definitely be staying here again. It is not a 5 star hotel but provides quality service and accommodation for the price point.

Nice, clean and new. Rooms are well sound proofed, but I dislike hotels that you can't open the window-this is one of them. Room was always stuffy, and had a bit of a funky smell from the shower drain... Bed was extra firm, little too hard for my liking. Food from restaurant was just ok. Super close to airport, but not much else-30 min drive to Newcastle City. No free wifi either, should come with the room these days.

Large, modern, clean-looking hotel on the doorstep of RAAF Williamtown and Newcastle Airport. Ample car parking. Smart looking, friendly staff. Basic conference facilities with built-in audio-visual and break-out rooms. Large restaurant which is functional rather than offering a sophisticated ambience: an ideal place for a business lunch rather than a romantic dining experience. Small, functional bar adjoins the restaurant. Small gymnasium.

I have stayed in all varieties of accor premises, Novotel, Mecure, Ibis, Pullman etc. This would have to be the best all round and personalized service I have ever experienced. Visited Newcastle for the 2018 V8 Supercars final, Mecure Newcastle with my brother. Staff: From Housekeeping, Restaurant/Bar Staff, Reception to Management the level of Service mixed with some great Personality was at such a high and genuine level. Food: From Breakfast to Bar Snack Entrees with a cold ale in the bar before sitting down to dinner were some great flavors with a great consistency served up top notch food. The rooms are good, spacious and obviously clean. Daily room cleaning service. The hotel is new and the management is trying to keep it like that. The Restuarant is good but it they are slow depending on how many customers are there. During busy days you have to do booking for dinner or have to wait 30-40min. But over all their service is good.

I arrived late for a quick sleep here before an early morning flight the next day. Good sized rooms and being brand new as expected. I had to look at the shower and bathroom twice as it looked so pristine. Additional: Carpark is at a reasonable price of $10 a night for guest.

It's pretty low key but the food is very good and the service is great and it's pretty reasonably priced as well.

The Mercure Newcastle Airport is a well furnished, professional, and quality accommodation provider within a stone's throw of the airport. I stayed in room 305 and it was quite nice, with all the amenities you could need on an overnight trip. The room service breakfast is also very nice, and very well priced. Would stay again.

Very, very new hotel. They've only opened in late 2015, so you can expect everything to be near brand new. Room quality was outstanding. Spacious and thoughtfully designed. It exceeded some of the 4-stars I've been to. For services, they charge you small fee for parking and wifi. In terms of location, it might feel a bit far from Nelson Bay (about 30-40 minute drive), but not too inconvenient. Quite close to Newcastle. There's not much other than the airport and a petrol station in the walking distance.

Like a cheap Jetstar flight, this place has a few hidden costs. It starts when you arrive. Even as a guest you’re charged $15 for parking your car overnight. With nowhere nearby as an alternative (except the more expensive airport parking) you’re resigned to this option. Upstairs the rooms are clean and modern with a new Cisco router for wireless internet in the room. You open your device to log in, providing room number and name as proof you’re a paying customer. But, no. No free wifi for you. Another tenner for the privilege of 24 hour 512kbps wireless internet. I understand a business is there to make a profit, but this continuous penny pinching on the customer is downright insulting.

Missed my flight recently and next one was 6 hours later. I called up reception and requested a late check out. She promised that two hours would not be a problem. Half hour later the bald guy who is often at front desk calls up and asked me in rude tone- When you are checking out. We gave you an extension. I checked out immediately. That dude at front need to learn how to smile. Never seem to greet with smile. All front drsk girls are very pro n polite. Breakfast option is an issue. Theres some weird mechanical service noise in rooms that kept awaking me up. It comes out like a thud most often. Have stayed here countless times and it seems to be in almost every room. Restaurant menu is super over priced. But they have a free shuttle service for airport, which is good. Overall not worth the money but there is no other option around there.

Well presented premesis and rooms. Plenty of thought has gone into keeping aircraft noise out. Restaurant was fantastic. The gym leaves a little bit to be desired only having a small number of treadmills, free weights and a single multi-stack.

The restaurant offers a limited range of food but the quality is very good. A bit on the expensive side but you would expect theae kinds of prices being attached to the hotel.
