Location was excellent as it is close to Oxford St and museum station. However the hotel is quite dated although it does come with complimentary continental breakfast. For can opt for a hot breakfast on demand for an additional $12.
For a few nights would be ok, but I would pay a bit extra to stay at another hotel for longer than a weekend stay.
Service was great by all staff.

Vijay on reception was very professional, helpful and friendly. Room was clean, light brekky included but we never made it. Handy City spot spent most of our time out and about. Good for singles/ couples for a night or two.

I experienced terrible service by an Asian guy working on Saturday (6/11) at 7.48pm. When I rang the bell he was eating and came out of his room with rude attitude. I just wanted to extend my room 1 more night. He gruffly answered me and seem like he didn’t want to book for me. I was unhappy and said Don’t worry I will book it tomorrow morning. He held me back and booked for me then said pay tomorrow. Please consider your service if you want to improve. Overall, all staffs were useful and friendly except him. I would like to rate 3 stars.

Great location if you like the Oxford St entertainment area and be close to the CBD and major attractions in the city. Rooms are basic but if you are planning to use them only to sleep they are just what you need. Not recommended to work from the rooms if you are for business, the desk chair gave me a bit ot a back pain after using it for a week, they could improve this with more comfortable chairs.

The two good things that I thought while booking this hotel room was; convenience to CBD as it is closer to the Museum station and the inclusion of breakfast. While the first met my expectations, the breakfast was a bummer. While the first day breakfast was in the restaurant downstairs (open from Tuesday to Saturday), and on the second day, since it was a Sunday and the restaurant was closed, they literally packed our breakfast which includes a small orange juice, muffin, energy bar and yogurt! We woke up, got ready and come down just to get the breakfast bag. Come on guys, breakfast without coffee is not imaginable for me and many others. Also, you could have sent it over to the room. Wait a sec, there was no telephone in the room.
The quality of the room was ok. There was no telephone to call the reception ( which was my first time). You get a TV inside the wardrobe that extends out and at the same if not careful you will hit ur head at the corner and also leaves the door blocked from seamlessly sliding open and close.
The furnitures weren’t up to the mark and the bed was ok. The carpet was definitely old and need to be changed. The A/C was a bit loud and cranky which produces an unpleasant smell once it reaches the temperature that is set.
To the management: I do understand the buildings are old in Sydney but you can always revamp the interiors. Please lower the price at least as it will definitely make it a value for money for deal.

The location and the proximity to all the near by restaurants, theatres, and sporting complexes. Bus ride to Bondi Beach, Coogee& Clovelly

The receptionist kept my drivers license, and where not around to check out and organise early breakfast.

Stayed for 4 nights in a singe room.
Hotel was great value as a solo traveller, booking via their website gave me an even better price.
Good location, clean facilities. The single room was small, but not uncomfortable. Only issue was I was promised an upgrade as part of a booking deal and it wasnt even mentioned by front staff. The upgrade was only if rooms were available, but it would have been nice to at least been told this was the case. I didn't bring it up with staff because of the great price i was already getting.
Overall though i was happy with my experience, and would happily stay again.

Location & services all good.
Staffs were friendly & helpful.
The room was clean & quiet , bed was comforable,I had good sleep there.

Great location and price. Clean, secure, friendly hotel with a nice breakfast bonus. Nothing flash but excellent value for money.

Stayed for 4 days wasn't offered breakfast at all bathroom had mold in it air conditioning didn't work my son couldn't shower in the bathroom had to use another shower on the same floor as he felt unsafe because the shower in our room was in a bath and he was scared he would slip over I asked for a pedestal fan and a fan that didn't work very well and would spark at the power point TV didn't work in the room and don't even get me started on car parking which was 500 metres away from the motel which was in a private carpark surcure carpark which cost $125 for 4 nights but $25 each time you left the car park I was very on edge just leaving my car there you couldn't open the sliding door to the balcony
the room was stuffy and hot and stuffy the room was unattractive there were no extra blankets my overall experience of this motel I will never return extremely disappointing this motel is more like a backpackers hostel not a motel and not worth the price paid

Rooms are nice and tidy but could do with a refresher. Staff are very nice and helpful.
The included breakfast is simple toast, cereals and drink of your choice which is enough.
The location is the best bit with it being close to pretty much everything cbd.

So I own a campervan travel to Sydney most weekends for work, I normally stay in my van but this weekend is very cold so I decided to stay in a hotel. The heating is not working in the room and I get told to put more clothes on. I spent $250 on a room to feel as cold as my van... Also the hotel is not very nice if I don't recommend staying here but that's for you to chose

We arrived around 2:45 PM and welcomed by Chris and Lena. They were friendly, courteous and warmly greeted us. The room was big enough and the bed was comfortable. The trundle bed underneath was perfect for our 5 year old daughter was ideal. We went downstairs to ask for bedsheets and AJ was quick to help us out. Dinner at Song Kitchen was delicious and Martin, our guest host, was very good and thoughtful.
When we checked out after our breakfast pack, the chap at reception was very good. I wish I asked him for his name so I could share it here. Great place to stay for a weekend. Good location and affordable.

Our stay in Song Hotel Sydney was pleasant. In terms of price-to-value, it is probably one of the best hotels in the area. Its location is excellent if You are after the downtown vibe. Amenities and leisure facilities are within spitting distance. The elevator is a bit clunky to use at the beginning, but it is just a matter of time before You get the hang of it. The Internet was a bit slow, but the reception had the speed fixed after we let them know about it.
S. M.
Hotel was really nice. Extremely clean and well put-together. Staff were generally very lovely. Only real downside was that the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work, therefore any time anyone had a shower, it got very wet in the rest of the bathroom. Overall, beds were very comfy, and there was very limited noise - AC was very effective and didn’t make someone with allergies sneeze 😂
J. M.
Unfortunately our stay was very disappointing at Song Hotel. We arrived and the reception was really nice inside. But as soon as you get in the lifts it instantly feels like you are in a hospital. Then the rooms are like you're staying in a backpackers. The shower was terrible, had no pressure and was one small stream of water. The toilet was squeezed into the bathroom so you couldn't even sit on the toilet properly. The walls in the room were dirty and had hand prints all over them. The Tv was a flat screen that was that old that it barely worked and was shoved away in the closet so you couldn't even watch it properly as you had to lay in bed as there was no where to sit in the room. The Aircon was smelly when it was turned on. Overall our stay was extremely disappointing. Will not be staying here again or recommending to anyone.
T. L.
The entrance looks really nice, but the rooms are clearly underwhelming. The bathroom wasn't clean (mold) and the furniture was really aged. Also, the breakfast wasn't acceptable, you expect a proper one and you get a bunch of industrial products (muffin, yoghurt, juice, biscuit) in a box. It should at least be specified, COVID can't be an excuse for everything (reducing the costs ?).
On the bright side, well located and friendly staff. The second star is for them !
G. Y.
Great last minute stay! Such nice friendly and helpful staff 😊
K. B.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, was even able to check in early. Room was very clean and comfortable. Easy access to public transport. Will definately stay here again.
K. J. D.
Great location and value for money. Clean and tidy rooms.
V. S.
As always a good stay, prime location, reasonable room for the cost. Oscillation on the shower head didn't function and I feel the tap on function of the lifts needs some instruction as the sequence is tricky to navigate through and I only really got the hang of it by the end of the stay. Breakfast to go was great on check out, and the staff gave me every confidence they were taking Covid-19 seriously

The hotel is very modern and stylish. The moment that I walked in to check in I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile. This concierge which I regret not getting his name has amazing customer service, always willing to help. I think he was the night concierge, very professional. The housekeeping always made up my room, it was always clean and tidy. I enjoyed my stay very much and would highly recommend this place if you want great accommodation for a very good price. I booked this place through booking.com.
슝.
A great, clean and good value hotel. I'll be back there.
i. r.
It is also within walking distance of the museum station and is within walking distance of Central. During my stay, there were some inconveniences caused by construction work in front of the building. It was a very different room condition from the pictures on the hotel site. I hope you check and make a reservation.
B. J.
Don't say "breakfast included" in your booking when you are handing guests a bag of food worth $5 like we are in prison.
2 stars given just to be fair towards how clean the room and the hotel was.
Value for money; we can definitely find something better for the same price.
Location; 2 min walk to museum train station
Night sleep: guest bed was terrible.
B. C.
Stayed here a few times now. If you're looking for modern and luxury facilities this isn't the place but it doesn't pretend to be. Very simple basic hotel to stay on the cheaper side of places in the CBD. Some of the rooms and hallways are in need of a paint/revamp as they are looking, feeling (and sometimes smelling) tired. room lighting a little dull. Bedding is okay for a nights rest. No microwave provided only small fridge.
Most ensuite bathrooms have been moderately updated and are functional. The lobby is the most updated aspect of the hotel. The sliding doors in the room open a fraction to let fresh air in which is nice but the ability to open fully would be better, though understand the need for security and privacy as some areas are facing a central courtyard. Partitions between each room would allow balcony access and would be appreciated more by guests i'm sure.
Staff friendliness is hit and miss. Some very cold and transactional, borderline rude even, others very friendly. "breakfast" is currently a bag containing a cereal w UHT milk, Muesli bar/muffin, apple and a juice cup.
better places to consider close by but if you're on a budget this is fine.
r. d.
Dirty room. I found a sock in the wardrobe and hair in the bathroom. I would not recommend it.
B. T.
Song has a budget price tag without the budget feel.
Staff at the front desk, the cleaners and in the restaurant were exceptional.
The hotel is bright, clean and comfortable
We booked a room with the shared bathroom which was incredible value and included buffet continental breakfast which was lovely and always well stocked.
The wifi actually worked!
Would definitely stay again
K. M.
Excellent stay, suited my purpose. Linen and bed were very good and the bathroom clean with a good shower. Staff friendly and accomodating.
J. B.
Loved the premium rooms! It has a very nice ambience and the furnishings are comfortable. The bed is comfortable too! Bathroom abit small tho. The floor to ceiling windows and the nice chair in the room next to the window is welcome and you can watch the streetscape below. Be careful to close the curtains as night as ppl may be able to see inside the room. Free breakfast is just a very light continental breakfast with some cereal a fruit a Meusli bar some milk and a small serving of juice
L. W.
Terrific hotel with great central location and close to transport.
i.
My sister and I stayed one night in twin bed, shared bathroom accommodation, following late flight arrival. Only a short walk from Museum station (a plus when dragging 2 suitcases). Reception was welcoming and helpful with advice re facilities. Secure lift to our room. Room was clean, but small, adequate for an overnight stay. Grateful for the tea and coffee making facilities, Bed linen was clean and fresh. Shared bathroom was clean, but would be Inconvenient for a longer stay, especially if needing to use the bathroom during the night. The free continental breakfast was a much appreciated bonus. Have stayed before and will do so again, especially due to cost and convenience to trains.
s. k.
The Song Hotel Sydney is the right balance of comfort & value. They provide daily turndown service and breakfast & my room was immaculate. The staff at Song Hotel Sydney really made me feel like I was taken care of, always happy to assist & resolve any queries I had with a smile no matter what hour. I will be making this place my go-to spot when I stay in the Sydney CBD.
K. B.
Location was very nice, rooms were clean. I liked the semi open door to balcony for fresh air only. Shared bathrooms were clean too.
One change to consider, when the room next door closes, it makes a loud bang, waking you up. Please consider fixing.
L. F.
Incredible for the price. Super central, close to public transport, rooms are modern and clean. The staff were super helpful and friendly. I stayed here for one night while running around to job interviews and house viewings and it was perfect. If you just need a comfortable, clean and private place to sleep and store your luggage, this is it.
j. e. y.
Location was fantastic and lobby/restaurant were atmospheric. The rooms (shared bathroom), didn't quite look like what I had expected from online and the halls were bare. A bit of paint or art would of made it more inviting.
Bed was comfortable and the rooms were quiet.
E. E.
Liked my room, especially windows looking at lush vegetation in courtyard, courteous staff. Only fault was the racket next door until three a.m. Must have been celebrating Valentine's Day!!
R. P.
Great location!! The newly renovated rooms are good but the older unrenovated are in desperate need of an upgrade. I would never stay in them. Good value and staff are attentive and friendly.
G. T.
Nice hotel with decent staff members. Located just near the Museum station is a convenient place to stay in the CBD even if you are on a business or a holiday trip. All the popular places to visit in Sydney are just few minutes walk or getting a train to reach those ones.
I. L.
For the price, this was a great place to stay. Decent continental breakfast in the morning. Rooms were small, but that was to be expected at the price point. Location is excellent! Shared bathroom was a little annoying, but not a huge inconvenience.
M. C. N.
It's definitely economical and clean. Good location surrounded by park, IGA(grocery market), pharmacy, and couple of good restaurants. All stuffs are friendly. I did enjoy the video platforms like YouTube and Netflix on TV but unfortunately the internet is not really stable. Averagely good and recommended.
P. R.
We stayed here for 3 nights, one of them in a superior room and the other in a cheaper room. The experience is vastly different, you feel like you're in 2 distinct hotels - one clean, spacious and modern, the other really run down, small and poorly clean. I'm not sure if this is a wise strategy from a hotel positioning stand point... breakfast is basic and can get long lines at times. Staff was nice.
N. M.
Staff were wonderful loved our themed room, fantastic location. Close to transport. Would definitely recommend and stay there again
K. A.
Great hotel! Friendly staff, functional rooms. The continental breakfast was a great way to start our days, and the location was very convenient! Only negative was the very low shower pressure. Otherwise, highly recommend!
D. B.
This is place is more like a backpacker accommodation then a hotel. We didn't realise this before because we booked we normal double room and the room didn't have a bathroom. We had to share a bathroom with the rest of the residents on the …
C. m.
-good location close to Central Park and City Centre
- a few minutes walk to Redern station
- rooms were small, but enough for two people
- friendly staff
- in first week we had literally room on the street, it was uncomortable; we saw people close to window and every night we couldnt sleep because of cars
S.
Song Hotel was great room upgraded we checked in 9am and friendly staff loved breakfast great central location value for money we had great holiday here we left our luggage after check out git it at 6pm and they booked us a taxi to airport we enjoyed our time here
I. M.
Ive stayed at Song hotel with my boyfriend several times over the last few months and I am very impressed by the professionalism of the staff and the rooms weve booked have been of a high standard (they have many options catering to all needs from basic rooms with shared facilities to deluxe private rooms). Most rooms have a smart tv too which is a huge plus. Definitely one of the best places to stay for the price/location and their restaurant has good food as well (if you book directly through them they often give you a $10 voucher per person to spend there). Only criticism is that one of the cheaper rooms we stayed at had dusty air vents that should have been cleaned and rooms with a balcony cannot be accessed due to safety regulations. Overall highly recommended and we will definitely be returning in the future.
m. e. c.
The room was very small and the balcony door allowing fresh air in was blocked from access. But the hotel is centrally located and the beds are pretty good. The rooms are built for you to go exploring, not to be a hermit.
A. A.
A True Value for money.Attendants are courteous and attentive. The room was maintained clean and the continental breakfast that they offer is satisfying. Extra-mile service for the luggage keeping on our check-out is such a great help.Keep up the good job!
T. T.
The hotel has a great location, I was able to walk around and take in most of the sights during my short stay. The complimentary breakfast was nice: toast, cereal, fruits and yogurt. My hotel room was clean and the air conditioning worked really well (useful since the sirens were super loud when I kept the windows open but other than that the traffic sounds were barely audible). The room contained, a tv, a mini fridge, a kettle, complimentary tea/coffee, hairdryer (loved this!) and an ironing board (plus iron). I also liked that there were extra pillows and blankets, and sufficient clean towels.
K. C.
Good service, comfy bed, great price.
N.
It is winter to spring time during my stay. The window door is locked. You can obviously heard the street noise. You may feel unacceptable if you are a "easy-wake" person.
No air con during this period. Only heater. But I think it is fine as during mid-night you do need the heater.
Room is quite small. After opening 2 suitcases, no space left, very limited room space.
Bed is a bit soft.
Lock of toilet door is malfunction. Even you locked the door, my roommate can still enter to toilet. Luckily, no accident happened.
One disappointed part is, we found that there is a pair of old shoes and shocks under the bed. It is very disgusting to see them and you can imagine the quality of room server.
t. 3.
You couldn't close the bathroom door? The sink space was small and the pressure of the water in the sink was so minimal. Couldn't use hot water simultaneously with the shower. Also couldn't turn off the main room light with the switch, was inconvenient when I had to use the bathroom late at night. Also I booked a double bedroom but ended with two singles together. The cleaners also left their stuff everywhere in the corridors, did not give a very professional impression. Also the slit in the window curtain was annoying at night and I didn't feel like I had my own privacy in the daytime. The walls were thin, I could hear people going in and out.
The sheets smelt clean, bed was comfortable, alright size overall. Check out was 11 which is good.
The other rooms should undergo renovation too. The renovated rooms looked so much nicer from the outside and that's what I expected from my room, but instead the corridor was outdated and old.
I didn't use the TV but it is there.
Would not come again.
V. P.
The first room we were booked into was a double with shared bathroom, the room and shared bathroom were clean but small and unfortunately the AC was broken so it was unbearably hot.
We told reception and they upgraded us to an ensuite room down on the 3rd floor. This room was much bigger and the ensuite was great too.
Overall Id say the customer service was excellent but be aware that the shared bathroom rooms may be small (I'm assuming that they will get the AC fixed).
K. T.
Reasonable priced, decent rooms, fairly no frills, inner city location. Free breakfast is quite good. They also have fancy themed rooms, or low budget rooms with shared bathrooms so plenty of options.
J. F.
Great location but my room was in the older part of the hotel which has not been renovated, and was old and shabby. Fraying carpet, chips out of the enamel bath, stained grouting in the shower, furniture covered in wood-grain vinyl, everything was generally worn and slightly grubby. There was also a faint smell of mould and general dampness. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable, sheets were clean and crisp, and the hotel staff are friendly and helpful, but I suggest avoiding the Standard rooms and going for a Premium one as they are in the renovated part of the hotel.
J. R.
Great value, quality and service for price. The premises look impeccable and that simple breakfast makes one feel awesome.
B. G.
Great location for sightseeing, bit noisy if you have a street facing room so light sleepers bring earplugs. Breakfast was excellent: cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, coffee ,tea, juices. Shared bathrooms need updating but are clean enough.
F. G.
Stayed here overnight whilst attending a conference. The rate was very good and included a continental breakfast. The rooms are small (I knew that) but very clean, in good condition and have everything you need. The ensuite bathroom room new, a good size and very clean. Very good value, great location and will definitely stay here again.
J. B.
We booked this hotel after seeing it listed on many other booking sites, I needed to ask questions as I am disabled so contacted them directly. Got a good rate & cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. Our room was clean, fairly modern although the bathroom was showing signs of age, it was clean.
Having the Song Kitchen on site was an advantage as this is where we had dinner, limited menu but LEO (our Matre D) made sure they were very accommodating in relation to my tastes.
Parking was a breeze, just around the corner & a very reasonable rate for the night.
Continental breakfast was included and more than adequate for our stay. You could order a hot breakfast from their menu for a small charge, we found that was not necessary.
The position of the Hotel is such, that you are within walking distance to most of the sites that visitors to our wonderful city would want to see. Yes there is some traffic noise, but this is understandable as you are in the heart of the city. We did not find it too big a deal.
All over a thoroughly enjoyable visit which we will be sure to repeat the next time we are at St Vincent's Hospital.
K. S.
Good value for money, super central with friendly staff and quiet rooms. Nice surprise to see breakfast included as well. Major downside was the quality of the bathrooms, but everything worked fine and still had hot water. Perfect for a quick trip to Sydney.
P.
The hotel is located at pretty central location in Sydney. It’s very close to all the eating joints. The distance from the hotel to the harbour not much n if you choose you can walk to the harbour as well. The staff at the hotel is extremely helpful n offer great service. We requested for a early check in n they got us the room pretty quickly. The rooms are pretty clean n they also offer a good breakfast as well. Plus the rooms are available at a good price point.
C. H.
Nice Hotel great location.
Room is a good size with a fantastic bathroom.
Would stay again.
V. N.
Receptionists rude and unhelpful especially to foreign guests, beds broken in rooms, breakfast has limited options, bathrooms look like theyre cleaned about once a week and need renovating, there would have been a nice view if the windows weren't caked with dirt on the outside and were able to be opened so we could clean them ourselves. Location was good but its overpriced, we would have had better and cheaper accommodation in a hostel.
S.
Booked in advance 4 mths ago.
Found ourselves with a dirty ugly smelly room for three with a shared bathroom of 10 people.
Paid to upgrade to a premium room with own bathroom.
Looked and smelled lovely. Nice room thankfully.
Included breakfast was nice.
Room Attendants nice.
H. C.
Very clean and spacious rooms. Very friendly and helpful staffs. They gave us room upgrade as well.
Morning breakfast buffet was good. They provided us the baggage locker facility after checkout.
Will book rooms here next time we come to Sydney.
Thanks.
J. A.
The Song is budget accommodation, right in the heart of the city. It's location is great & makes it very easy to get around to all the major parts of the city.
It's definitely not your 5 star hotel, with all modern furnishings, it's more budget style accommodation. Having said that, it's still a very clean, comfortable stay and the staff are very friendly, helpful and professional.
Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world to stay at so if you're on a tight travelling budget, the Song is a great place to stay. Some rooms only have shared bathroom facilities though so be aware of this when you book.
R. P.
Lovely hotel to stay in when you want to be in Central City. Just across the road from the museum train and bus stations and also Hyde Park. Darling harbor was just a 15 min walk away, and Surrey hills and China Town were also close and easy to walk to.
The staff were friendly and helpful and happy to provide us with information. The room was tidy, although the bathroom always got quite wet because of the "walk in" shower.
There was an included continental breakfast which was fine, just toast, cereal, and fruit but as we didn't pay extra for it we were happy to have that breakfast sometimes, and other times go out to a cafe.
Overall it was a great and well priced hotel, and we would return!
D. B.
Paid for 2 exact same rooms, got 2 rooms of completely different qualities, 1 below the standard we paid for. My friends' room had razor blades found under their bed. breakfast is limited and not worth the extra cost
B.
Hotel with minimum conditions for a night or two, good location but the hotel itself has not the best look and conditions. A few details not proper clean, poor breakfast.
m.
Came here on a school excursion as part of the urban challenge. Amazing rooms with a TV and kitchen facilities outside. Great privacy and wonderful employees. Tasty breakfast with a wide variety of options - an overall great experience
s. L.
Rooms are very small. Booked through agoda what looked like a queen bed with ensuite, arrived to reception to find out they didn't offered that type of room, and as a "sorry for the inconvenience" got placed in tiny a single bed with private bathroom. Included breakfast is basically cereal, bread and coffee. Everything else is additional. Only giving 2 stars for cleanliness and location.
M. D.
With the price I get, overall satisfied. Cleanliness in the shared bathroom is good. Breakfast provided is very basic. Too bad no cutlery provided, can't eat Korean instant noodle here or bring your own. There was an incident where the fire alarm is activated where we were asked to evacuate. Eventhough after checking it was caused by pressure but I still suggest u to put those important stuff in one bag.
D. M.
Booked a double room, got a twin with a door that didn't fully open or close so all you could hear was the street. We were able to change rooms, got a room with a door that didnt fully open or close so all you could hear was the street. Shared bathroom wasn't to bad, bed sheets where super soft and had lots of gluten free options for breakfast. Would stay again.
M. E.
Best value for money in the heart of Sydney!! Friendly and efficient service, great bed and a quiet room. I have stayed here a number of times and you can't beat it for location and price. The hotel's proximity to transport ( trains and buses) and city sights ( easy walking distance to everything) is fantastic. Having a continental breakfast provided each morning also helps keep costs of travelling down. Thanks 'Song Hotel' for making my time in Sydney always so enjoyable.
a. d.
Location is very good! For the price, i think its really decent. I booked the double bedroom with shared toilets, the toilets are pretty clean (no complaints)
The room are small but its really okay. Although in general the bedroom seems less clean when compared to the toilet (hahaha) but the bed has the hotel kind of looks and feel. Well, if u going for budget but want something more than hostel, then i would recommend you this place.
L. E.
The hotel has 24/7 front-desk and great location. Regular cleaning of rooms is done. Although for most rooms, there are no private bathrooms. They also provide no water to drink, which is odd. The kitchen located downstairs is splendid. Decently priced for its location.
K. W. T.
Good value for a hotel in Sydney CBD. It was very satisfactory. Rooms and toilets were clean and had a good size. Hotel facilities was renewal. The wifi was working very well. The location was very central and close to museum station. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was very good due the fact that was a free courtesy.
M. F.
Booked myself a single bedroom with shared bathroom. Room was small but good enough for one person. Had basic facilities in the room like fridge, tv, kettle, safebox. Shared bathroom for guys only had one shower room and two cubicles which was okay for me as I did not find myself having to queue to wait for my turn when I needed the shower/cubicle. Downside was there was a strong stench once I got out of my lift which I believed was due to the cleaning of the carpet. And also the bed was on roller which could not be stopped which was a little inconvenient when you sleep at night. Also the blinds and curtains had a single line where it could not block the sunlight completely. Lastly, breakfast was very basic with just toasts with jam, cereals with milk, yogurts and fruits, and juices, coffee and tea. Location wise, near to museum station and food places.
I. S.
It is a decent stay close to the Museum station, which is 20-25 mins from Airport by train. The checkin was smooth and the room was clean, though a little smaller than what I had imagined. Every floor has a shared washroom facility.
The complimentory breakfast was plain and simple; oats, fruits, toast, coffee etc.
The proximity to museum station and Sydney attractions is an added advantage.
E. G.
Dirty, small and old rooms. I don't know how much we paid so maybe it's ok for the price but I would not come again. Also, please stop using tiny single use plastic shampoo bottles. Location is great.
F. L.
Really unhappy with accommodation, room was nothing like pictures, very noisy all night. Unable to access balcony as door was screwed shut and only able to open enough to put hand out. Breakfast was only cereal and toast not hot English breakfast as stated.
D. R.
MAKE SURE YOU READ CAREFULLY. This accommodation is really a hostel with some hotel rooms. Rooms are small and cramped. After having to pay extra I got a room with a bathroom for myself and 2 boys. The rooms were small and cramped. It is not family (or even people) friendly. Staff are not helpful. If it wasn't 8:30pm at night after travelling 14 hours with 2 boys I would have walked out and stayed somewhere else.
Not manager on either that evening or the next morning and staff were not helpful.
K. a. C. S.
I don't know who posted the photos here on Maps or online but, they're not an accurate representation of this facility.
To be fair, if it wasn't for the affordable cost in such an incredible neighborhood, this rating would have been two stars lower, and that's being generous.
Cleanliness should be staple in the hospitality industry, no matter the accommodation, that wasn't entirely the case in this facility. Rooms were not well-kept, carpets felt like they haven't been vacuumed in weeks (or more) I noticed a thin layer of dust in almost every part of the hotel — in the rooms, carpets felt moldy. Be prepared to pay for WiFi, a small laundry facility is included on two floors, breakfast was 'okay', televisions were all very small but, that's okay too. Common areas weren't very comfortable but, still okay to spend an hour or so in these areas.
If only Y Hotel would invest in a very good cleaning of their facility, this would have been a fantastic stay. Nonetheless, I would recommend this Hotel to those looking for a very cheap place to stay in an incredible neighborhood.

Basic, simple and cheap is what we required and that is exactly what we got from Y Hotel Hyde Park. It was more than I expected for the low rate that I paid and was more than adequate accommodation for what we required. It is by no means the Ritz but we did feel it fulfilled everything it needed to for the type of accommodation it was. The breakfast was lovely and it was great you could order hot food for a little extra (very reasonable) although it would be nice if they cooked the bacon fresh so it was really nice and hot. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly and we were able to check in early and check out late for no extra cost. We booked a room with a shared bathroom which I thought would be a pain but there were numerous bathrooms all of which were kept clean and neat. All in all a good stay I would certainly stay here again.
J. L.
The room was quite dirty and didn't look like it had been cleaned well. Unfortunately the shower pressure was non existent which made it really unpleasant and difficult, thankfully we were only staying 1 night which wasn't a big deal.
I would not recommend the Song Kitchen for breakfast. The food we ordered was cold, undercooked and seemed like it was left out for quite a while. Their in-house made Jam was rather nice though.
Overall I would not recommend this place unless you only want something which is conveniently placed in the heart of Sydney CBD.

Good price for accommodation in the city. The rooms are fine. There were only a few showers for the floor we were on and they weren't all fully functional i.e. one spat water towards the wall and no all through the funnel, and the other shower would flood.
A. G.
Double room is tiny, also doesn't have a bathroom or two beds. Bathroom on some random floors but not all of them, it's like a maze. They classify certain floors for things when they have it on other floors too? Air conditioner didn't work very well at all. They give 2 people one card to share, if one wants to leave they need the card for the elevator and the other person is stuck in the room in the dark with no aircon. The car park for it is like 4 blocks away and very confusing too, much like the insides of the hotel. People were nice though.
J. H.
The location was very convenient, and it was really easy to get to many of the places we wanted to visit, such as the museums and malls. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable, so I'd say staying here is good value for money.
The main issue I had with the place was that our room was facing the main roads, and the walls and windows didn't do much to block out the noise, so we had to deal with sirens and other rather loud sounds throughout the night.
Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay here, and would recommend it to people looking for an affordable but decent place to stay at while in Sydney.
a. b.
Ate in the cafe, not staying at the hotel. Food was delicious and decently priced. Will definitely be back. staff were also lovely and it just had a great vibe :)
P. x.
Rooms are good but no good view. Spacious room and bathroom. Not much space in the wardrobe to keep your luggage. Good service. Breakfast included. Located in CBD. Quite near to station and many tourist places. The staff is really helpful.
H. L.
It’s a great hotel if you’re looking for something affordable and near the city centre. Very nice staff and quite good breakfast:)
P. R.
Like everyone else says. Basic, well kept. Classy backpacker feel. Shared communal area with shared bathroom facilities. Value for money to be in the city. If you are concerned with privacy, I wouldn't recommend it. Complimentary continetal breakfast is a bonus though. Friendly staff too. Wireless cost $6 a day.
J. M.
If you require a hotel very well located at affordable prices: this is THE place! If you require internet access, a nice big breakfast, air conditioning... you will need to avoid. This was a tricky one to rate as there were very good facilities such as a laundry room... but Internet access is expensive and one device at a time. which is not convenient when travelling with partner. So, some good points and some negative.

I was surprised!
After a late arrival having circled Sydney for over an hour I was a bit surprised to find the hotel I had asked to be booked in Sydney CBD close to the courts was actually in Chinatown and a good 25 min walk from the courts. Then I find the booking company had probably found the only 3 star hotel in Sydney that actually had one floor sharing a bathroom and had booked me on it.
The reception staff appreciated my distress at the news I’d be sharing a bathroom and I eventually purchased an upgrade.
As it turns out the rooms were very nice, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room and bathroom were as clean as a whistle. However, don't expect to be able to do much work there unless you're only staying one nught. Desk was - well not really a desk and only a hard little stool to sit on.
The hotel seems to have a focus on Asian visitors - my room the very twee Bindi Irwin Room, Was decked out with khaki shirts, paintings of Australian fauna and an Akubra. All accompanied by a notice to ensure you left everything in its place.
An adequate continental breakfast is included in the tarriff .
C. W.
Room was very clean everything I expected. staff where very friendly. shared bathrooms where a bit under maintained. Hotel is close to the city, I didn’t have any trouble with city noise at night, would definitely be a return customer.
l.
Very good for a budget hotel. Staff at the hotel are amazing very bright happy people and easy to deal with. Rooms are very small but comfortable with all the standard amenities and very good wifi and air conditioning. Only real set back is the communal bathroom which I hadn't realised on booking my stay but it's clean and I never had to wait to use it so I can't really complain. Beds are comfortable and there is minimal outside noise so I had good sleep during my stay. A few technical issues with the door keycards but with persistence it works eventually. All in all its decent accomodation providing bang for your buck.
D. M.
This is a back packers hotel and that's all its suitable for. False Advertising. Room was small, wasn't happy to find out we had no toilet/bathroom in the room and we had to share with the rest of the hotel. This wasn't stated in the advertising. Includes full continental breakfast....well in my experience, full continental breakfast includes hot and cold foods. NOT JUST TOAST AND CEREAL. In being led to believe this was a "great" hotel, there was nowhere to park the car. Highly recommended NOT to go here. I have to say that 5 other people we spoke to who were staying there were completely dissatisfied. Management tried to pass the buck but nothing on their own web site says this is for back packers.
J. C.
The bathroom in the room in which we stayed dint have a latch at all..not all that great of a place..the breakfast buffet they offer is pretty basic compared to other hotels in the same price range..The plus point is it's inside the city, it's just about 5-7 min to the Sydney aquarium
M. G.
Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in for that money. Way too expensive for what you get. Shared bathroom was constantly filthy, staff (especially the Asian once at reception) were super unfriendly and not helpful at all, room was not properly cleaned and we found black hairs in the bed, the window was hardly to open and the door card didn't work properly (which you don't need in the middle of the night). Continental breakfast was crap and didn't even offer coffee and the water for the tea was too cold. Waste of money to stay here. I could have excepted all this if it would be a cheap place but even on special offers it would be still way too expensive. Would not recommend it at all and prefer to stay in a private room in a Hostel for much cheaper next time.
J. E.
A lovely clean hotel. Bedding is firm, lovely clean linen and daily housekeeping also if wanted, continental breakfast included with the only deficit being no ensuite to rooms but a clean, dated shower/toilet facility shared with other rooms instead. Great value and so close , walking distance to city and Hyde Park.
N. R.
Great location, easy walk through Hyde Park to St James station to connect with Sydney Airport train service. Very comfy bed. We stayed in a tripple room with separate bathroom , quite suitable for our 1 night stay. Great value with breakfast included.
R. S.
We booked triple rooms and a queen room (Sia room). Triple rooms were clean with comfortable bedding and had use of the shared gender specific bathrooms which were ok but located at opposite ends of the floor. The Sia room was great value for money. Clean , new and very comfortable. Breakfast was and additional bonus and the location next to Hyde Park is great for access to all areas of the city. Would definitely stay here again.
B. G.
This place is alright if you're planning to just be there to sleep. The room (mine has its own bathroom) is small, but functional and tidy. The wifi is pay-for, like it's 2010. Definitely more of a hostel than a hotel.
The location couldn't be better, and the prices are good compared to others in the area.
A. L.
If u want a slightly cheaper option and just basic hotel then this is for you..m
The bathrooms are very clean.
Their rooms are carpeted and i feel like its not really that clean... it feels a bit dusty too but it could just be my sensitive airway!😂
Their free breakfast option is very limited to toast, cereal, bit of fruit and basic drinks. If u want hot options, u have to pay.
I would have given this a 4 star but because of their free breakfast and the receptionist that served us was a little bit too robotised... if u know what i mean. He is a bit scary, like u r dealing with a machine... not very warm welcome....
Overall, decent hotel for a cheap option in sydney that is quite bordeline central....
K. T.
The Pros: The hotel is located by Hyde Park. The internet was good and reliable. Elevators have card key access, so no one can go up, unless they have a card key.
The Cons: This is a not a hotel for an extended stay. There are no dressers in the room, so you must live out of your suitcase for the duration of your stay. There is no microwave in the room (there is a mini-refrigerator). Our room was suppose to be a king bed, Sing Hotel's idea of a king bed is pushing 2 twin beds together. The mattresses were probably the worse we've slept on in a very long time. This was a room for 2, but there's only 1 chair. If you spend any amount of time in the room, one person has to sit on the bed. The free breakfast consists of bread, cereal, fresh fruit a, yogurt, tea, coffee and juice. The front desk people were nice, but not very helpful. When we asked them a couple of questions about the surrounding area, both times they responded, "I don't know, google it.". We probably won't stay here again. You don't a lot for the price except for the location.
K. M.
I was only there to sleep. It was Very clean and quite. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The bathroom was a little old but very clean.
D. T.
The room was very clean and well presented.
Considering the price that I paid at the very least a biscuit could have been provided to have with a cuppa.
Also the size of the fridge was ridiculously small, I had to remove the shelves to place a bottle in there
J. C.
Never expected this kind of customer service in such a city hotel. Room service was really good but one of receptionist in the morning was really rude and out of manners to the customers. Not only me but with the other senior people from overseas as well. Hope the authority will take step to improve that kind of service to the new commer to Sydney. Sorry for this rating.
F. J.
We stayed 8 days. so far the room was cleaned, reception staff helpful and it is shareToilet concept. Restaurant staff is friendly, just the Breakfast, i can say 8 days was the same, nothing special and change. Overall Good and recommended. thank you
T. K.
Really cheap considering the great location, but don't expect a great hotel for this price. Didn't look and feel like if it was clean. Small and basic rooms. But it didn't bother me much because I was out and about all day and staying for a few days only doing sightseeing on low budget it's okay.
J. B.
the room is very different from the photos on the internet.
very old building and dirty too
ok for a sleep
but if you can find other places in similar price, should go for it instead.
L. C.
Our stay in general was quite good except that I disagree with having an open door luggage area. I feel a lot more security should be focussed at protecting paying clients luggage even if they don't have a tag on it. We arrived on a rainy morning and left our umbrellas behind our luggage in the supposed locked luggage room that doesn't lock, it will still be there when we returned only to find one of our good golf umbrella's had disappeared.
We have travelled a lot and never had to place our own luggage in the luggage holding area, never had an insecure luggage holding area where you can just get your luggage out of at any time. Very poor security for travellers!
We were also disappointed in the recommended nearby car parking facility. We used the hotel recommended which didn't have both entry and exits working. Ticket button didn't work very well, when you spoke to reception mixed messages and not much help! Parkings rates different from what is advertised. When tried to place in the hotel discount ticket, machine doesn't accept.
Do not use this car park!!
P. T.
Booked the triple ensuite. The place was very similar to the photos. Good cleanliness. Decent continental breakfast. Great location as well. Central and town hall stations are all within walking distance. Didn't have wifi in my room as I didn't book directly through their website but still worth the price I paid for. Had the option to get a wifi upgrade but I didn't as my data was sufficient in the end. In general, it's a pretty decent place for a short stay:) would come back in the future.
F. S.
Will not stay again. Shared bathrooms were dirty and mouldy in the ceilings. Other guests put their food rubbish in the shared toilet space that was smelly. There were cigarette butts on the balcony and burn marks on the furniture. Room was very small and you could hear your neighbours noise.
m. l.
Really great stay. The building is clearly quite old but all the furniture & amenities are new and lovely, super comfortable beds! The staff were what really made our stay, they were so friendly and helpful.
j. n.
Great value for money. Our booking included a continental breakfast, great location for our purpose, opposite a park and walking distance to the train station. It lost a star because some spots in the shower needed the grout to be rejuvenated.
T. M.
Near the city centre; sightseeing, restaurants & bars nearby·Near public transit, the train station & the airport·Easily accessible by car .
Great place to stay if you're going to Sydney on a budget.
The rooms are tidy, the beds are comfortable and have crisp white sheets. The staff at the front desk have always been helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay again.
M. M.
Nice clean room for good price. Share facilities also very clean. Lovely service. Stayed Mardi Gras night but no issues accessing hotel as they had passes for security. Would of given 5 stars for facilities but couldn’t access balcony due to privacy issues. Will stay again soon., "Excellent location"
R. M.
Great position, right in the middle of the CBD. Clean rooms & very helpful staff. On the downside, didn't like the shared toilets and showers. Apart from that great motel, reasonably priced & included breakfast was a bonus
r. S.
Song Hotel Sydney is very accommodating and really nice. They allowed us to stay and have breakfast even though we 'checked-in' just two hours before check-out time. We were not able to get into the city the previous night as our flight was cancelled. Thank you Song Hotel Sydney for your impeccable service!
W. T.
I payed a reservation fee of AUD$101 14 days in advance that would come off my final price of AUD$303 when paid on check in. I check in Friday, handed my card over and was told that my payment was sorted.
As I was getting ready for Mardi Gras on Saturday I got a knock on the door from management saying that my payment is overdue. Obviously perplexed I went down and was told that my total price was going to be AUD$500 and that they had no record of my reservation fee.
The front desk team were lovely and very apologetic and offered a refund if I find the bank statement but I had to pay the AUD$500 for 3 nights in a below average twin room with shared bathroom. Very disappointed.
B. S.
Positive:
-The hotel was closely located to a station from among others the train line from the airport.
-Friendly staff.
-Clean bathroom. Not a lot of space to leave your toothbrush and stuff, but a nice bath.
-Very comfortable bed.
Negative:
-The included breakfast was (besides coffee and the usual juices) just toast with marmelade and cornflakes. If you wanted eggs, bacon or anything else you needed to pay extra. All in all not enough to go and dicover Sydney.
-With the curtains in the fully closed position there was still a slit in between which was open. This way people in the office building (or something like it) can look inside your room.
S. P.
This was our first few nights after arriving in Sydney. We were able to drop off our bags and explore before checking into the room. On the top (8th) floor, it was standard but did the job. There is a fridge, kettle, TV, safe and large sliding wardrobe. There is WiFi access although it is paid ($12/3 days). The bathroom facilities are shared with the rest of the floor and seem clean enough. The location is pretty central and is heavily populated by restaurants, both chains and independent.
W. C.
Excellent location, staff are friendly. The room is clean with complete amenities. This accomodation is value for money. The museum train station is only 5 minutes walk.
Other spot like Hyde Park, China Town, Darling Harbour, St Mary Chathedral, Sydney Tower and shopping center are only within walking distance. Taxi is easy to find.
h.
Not bad.Spectacularly quiet. Fast lifts and great location.
Staff were always on hand when needed. The room was comfortable with a nice feel. Would stay again.
M. G.
Partner & I stayed at Song Hotel for a few nights in the city May 2019. The service and convenience of the location was incredible. Definitely recommend staying here for a cheaper more convenient hotel which won't have you stressed. Not to mention breakfast was included in our stay.
S. F.
Rooms at reasonable prices with shared bathrooms. Location just between business district and eastern more relaxed area, close to Museum station. They were renovating while we were there, which was heard everywhere, supposed to be finishes late q1 2018. Air con loud and key cards almost impossible to use to get into room.
K. N.
Worst!!! They don't help you shift the luggages, won't serve water bottles and you have to share bathrooms with other room mates!!!!
They say breakfast included but they only give you bread and cornflakes, if you need omelette it's charged extra, if you need hot milk they make faces! You have to bring your own bottles to fill the water from 5th floor, Crazily organised.
D. H.
Great budget hotel. Not designed to spend a lot of time in the room but why would you In Sydney. Complimentary breakfast is basic but awesome.
D. B.
Good location, but that is all you can use. Poor room environment with filthy spots and dead fly in the room. Also, manager would manage not to open the window although I need to get fresh air. That room was far from the photo shown from the website.
H. R.
It did what it said on the tin for the cheaper rooms . Shared bathrooms aren't great and the room is a box with a bed in it. Breakfast was toast or cereal not the best. If you can stay elsewhere with an ensuite then do it.
K. S.
A cozy hotel. Considering the prices in the area could say they have some of the best prices. The complementary continental breakfast was ok.... staff was very accommodating and friendly the rooms are small but nice and clean.
M. W.
Excellent location for walking to Hyde Park and running to Opera House and Botanic garden. Basic and small but clean accommodation. I actually liked the fact that the sliding door can be opened a few centimeters to allow fresh air in.
d. t.
Just visiting a relative who had flown in from Europe. The foyer wasn't in the best condition due to an undealt with water leak that had been there for some time, causing carpet smell and visible mould. When this was brought to the attention of Hotel staff they simply sprayed air freshener over it. The cafe on Sunday was not open. Unable to phone up to the rooms as there are no phones in the rooms. Unsure about parking. We parked on the street at a one hour parking meter.
Perhaps we just saw this hotel at it's worst on this occasion.
M. C.
This hotel was too expensive for me if I compare with any hotel I was staying at, with the same service. Overall is good. There is only bed, TV, refrigerator, iron in the room and you have to share bathroom which one is little bit annoying in the morning you have to waiting for someone fish take a shower.
R. M.
Spent a night here when in Sydney for a concert located in the CBD. Stayed in delux King room with sound proofing which was extremely effective despite being on the second storey over a busy road. Had no trouble sleeping. The room, though small, was clean and very comfortable with a great shower. If you book direct you get a $10 voucher towards a full breakfast (continental breakfast was free). Thus I had a very generous serving of eggs, bacon, spinach and toast. Further, if you have lunch or dinner at the hotel you get 20% discount. Another plus - 100% of profits from the restaurant go to YWCA NSW programs and services supporting women and children escaping domestic violence.
J. N.
Worst hotel in my life for the price that I paid nearly for $300. Air conditioning not working properly and air vents covered with so much dirts. Could not believe that I could breathe in the room. Work for renovation undergoing from early morning which I wasn't aware of. My mistake that I did not know that there is no shower in the room and had to share one shower booth between more than 15 rooms. Definitley not recommended and would not come back for the rest of my life.
H. H.
it is an OK accommodation. The room is a bit aged, should give a bit of uplift and attention. with some funny smell. AC is not functioning well, it high, very noisy , if low, not cool enough. but may be with this price in the heart of the city, we may not be able to ask for more?
P. G.
5 minutes walking distance to the Anzac Memorial and Museum Station and around 15 minutes walk to the Central Station, this hotel is very accessible. I got a room with a large window and I liked it. Thank you!
G. W.
The room, although clean, was very dated. Bed was very hard, and not in a good way. The sheets had a weird smell and was from from warm and cosy. But the biggest two issues were (1) the street noise and (2) the acoustics. Followed by the blinds not being sufficient to block out the street / car lights. I'm a business traveller who requested a quiet room; I was placed on a busy road and next to a public bathroom with people going in and out all night long. $300 a night to stay in a youth hotel. NOTE: not all rooms come with ensuites.
I. H.
Great Location, excellent breakfast with particular attention due to The Virus around at the moment. room was very clean & well serviced each day, does need a little attention to to silicone around the bench in the bathroom
K. P.
Dissapointed. After what I booked on the internet, it wasn't what I got.Single bed, not really comfortable, thought there was no tv until I found it in the cupboard, not an ideal place to have it. Had to use a communal bathroom, which was very old and needed to be updated. Breakfast was ok. Staff were pleasant. Would not recommend to anyone and wont be coming back.
S.
Rooms are very small, aircon is useless. Booked through Trivago which displayed it had a pool and free breakfast we were happy to book the non-refundable stay until we arrived to find that there was no pool! The breakfast in only toast and cereal. Then to see a few cockroaches climb the wall as we layed in bed (I am 6 months pregnant) I totally freaked thank goodness my partner was there to flush them but how many more are around us as we sleep.
We asked for some help with the false advertisements through Trivago but they said because it wasn't booked directly through them they wouldn't do anything. Parking is also a few blocks from the hotel. We will not be back. We are very disappointed we can't just get a refund to stay somewhere else.
A. H.
Pretty Basic. Shared toilets and showers. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Very noisy but sydney i expected this.
You can get to anything anytime. Botanical gardens, museums and galleries only very short walk away. Nearly any takeaway u can think of.
Fire alarm went off and we wer all made to evacuate at 1am. Which is good it works i guess. Just funny😊.
Ohhh one more thing , continental breakfast was very very enjoyable and free. Can order extra things if want to pay alot. Recall 16$ pancakes.
R. K.
Made a booking through Expedia first time. It says Breakfast included in rate. Later to reveal Breakfast is ' Continental'. Emailed the hotel immediately 2 days prior to check in and followed up with a call today. Response is not positive. Declined to cancel the booking stateting hotel cancellation policy. I am yet to receive the hotels final verdict as I will take this misleading advertising practice to ACCC.
E. B.
The room is fine. Same for the location. But in the hotel , one lift didn't work for the whole stay (10 days) and Internet (WiFi) was working only for our laptop (phones/tablet on Android or ios had no connectivity). Recommended for low budget, but not for people wanting a nice experience.
J. D.
As always, a nice place to stay.
A. J.
Very low water pressure for the shower, A/C not working on arrival (which should be check and service prior the guest arrival) and no window can be open on the stinking hot day whilst waited for the A/C to be fix. Took a while for the service to be done. Very uncomfortable.

I am Qantas Gold Frequent Flyer Member I was firstly put off by rude Chinese young reception staff upon my arrival he was unfriendly, cold & his body language I found very confronting. Secondly he initially gave myself wrong room that i had booked & paid for via Qantas Hotels. Upon going back dealing with Duty Manager I was given a room on top floor with queen bed the room had old furniture's dating back to 1960s!!! The room had not seen coat paint in 40yrs.
The room was dirty, very poor condition with a bad odor. Bathroom was walk 20metres across entire top floor, bathroom/shower was again outdated, old, dirty looked like old change rooms in high school from 1970s. I have heart disease & attended nearby SVH live interstate.
Room was terrible, experience was shocking & I could not sleep at all.
Qantas need to review the types hotels they offer their loyal travelers on their site.
D. P.
Our connecting train to central was delayed and so we missed the last train of the night to get us home. Called this hotel to try and get a room for my partner and I and they told us they were completely booked. I checked their website amongst other third party booking sites and they said there was rooms available. When I confronted him about this he became unhappy that I asked and was persistent they couldn’t provide us with a room.
S. H.
The rooms are small which is ok. I'm 1.74m tall and my feet hang off the end of the bed. I'm stoked with that I feel tall for once in my life.
The shared bathrooms are 10 rooms or so sharing 1 shower and two toilets for the floor. Seperate bathrooms for m/f.
The breakfast was decidedly average for Sydney. I'm eating elsewhere now.
No fresh water to refill water bottles.
Internet is patchy with a mediocre internet subscriber card system. In the evening it was unuseable with all patrons on it. I had to hotspot off the phone.
With all that said. Location is superb. Price is right and the staff are really engaging and fun.
So I would stay again if I'm on a budget but I would prefer not to.
C. W.
they had cardi b on repeat in the lobby and then they told me only when we got there that our room doesn’t even have an attached bathroom and we’ll have to use the shared one on the floor. Then the balcony doors do not open at all. other than that it’s fine, but never again not worth the money.
L. H.
Great Location, Exceeded expectations, Rooms were clean and big enough. The television was in the cupboard which was a bit weird. And the lifts were terrible. But they are being upgraded. Great Value for money
S. Y.
The best location, and rooms were reasonable but missing any touch of personality. Breakfast was standard but filling. Customer service was hit and miss but mostly fine, and great that there's left luggage.
D. R.
We got there and there was no TV signal. We changed rooms. Then from 10pm to about 1130 pm we had some people sitting in the hallway with their kids being noisy as f#$k. We will not be returning any time soon.
N. S.
Clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious, great facilities even if they are old, quality for a budget accommodation. Will definitely stay here again. Fantastic for groups.
R. L.
Super clean, super friendly, and super convenient location. You get what you pay for at the Song hotel. If your looking for cheap accommodation the Song is what your looking for. Included a free continental breakfast in the morning and reception was very helpful
K. M.
Very misleading, rooms are not what you see in the pics unless you are willing to pay 100+, breakfast included is porridge/cereal and bread if you want hot breakfast is extra too! Nit a good experience!!
J.
The shared bathrooms were utter flith. There was even fecal matter on the wall of one of the bathrooms. Never have i ever been so disappointed staying anywhere in Australia in my life. I complained to the hotel at reception and they seemed to not care.
J. P.
This place is very cheap, but you get what you pay for, for $130 (AUD) we got a tiny room with 3 single beds with the smallest tv I've seen in a long time, a small fridge, a mirror and sink, and the toilets and showers were public. We also had a free small breakfast with items such as toast, fruit, juice and cereal.
L. V. B.
Clean rooma, friendly staff. 8th floor MEMS shared washroom shower can't hold a temperature, changes from cold to hot throughout the shower. Breakfast is a bit lacking as was the coffee
H. E.
My room was ready really early what was a good point ! But the room was really noisy ... From outside and inside (fan turning all the time with no possibility to turn it off) ... Service was correct and breakfast (included) was not exceptional but correct.

Hostal masquerading as a hotel
The hotel reception area looked clean and well decorated which gave me a good feeling about the stay despite the receptionist not being the chirpiest of chaps.
A late night entry of 15-20 children covering 10 rooms came in and were up and down the common floors shouting and banging doors. Fair enough, they were children. I waited for 30 minutes with my headphones in but with the sound of the doors slamming I could tell it was still going. Benefit of the doubt given 45 minutes continued until I phoned reception who said they would send someone up. No one arrived and the noise continued. About 12:30 I'd imagine I eventually got to sleep.
5:30 in the morning the doors slamming again from the room next to me over and over again as if someone was taking something out of their room one item at a time. That being said all of the doors in the rooms were a massive thud when they closed. 6 o'clock drilling started opposite my room. More banging doors from the room next to me. The builders were staying. 6-8am of banging and drilling I eventually got up to go to breakfast.
The lift took 10 minutes to come to floor 5 and once it had eventually arrived a cleaner had arrived to the floor. I got in to press G and we went to floor 8 where another staff member got in, 2 more floors of staff members got into the lift until we reached the ground floor. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely and helpful. I sat down with my tea to spill half of it on the table as the table was wonky.
Things I understand:
The need for staff to clean each floor
Not knowing who is going to be noisy
The need to do maintenance
Something's might go a miss
Things I don't understand:
Why staff can't ask guests to keep it down
Why drilling happens next to rooms at 6!
Why the doors aren't fitted with slow closing hinges
Why staff members need to use the guest lifts instead of stairs like most hotels, or even just one which has a reserved sign on each floor.

Don't even know where to start! Shocking service from the minute we stepped foot inside! The room we booked online was falsely advertised and no other room available!! Small dingy rooms and a very unsafe vibe all round! So so disappointed! staff refused to cancel our booking and left us no other option but to book another hotel! While still having to pay for this room!! Would not recommend at all to anyone! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TINE OR MONEY BOOKING THIS HOTEL.
P. N.
This hotel is part of the YMCA , foyer area is nice , rooms are ok , but are very tiny , no actual bathrooms or toilet in the actual room , need to use shared bathrooms for either male / female located down hallway , rooms have sliding door that lead to a huge verandah , but unfortunately the sliding doors only open enough to allow some air into room and not enough to access the verandah ! could be so much better if they changed this , as the room are way to small to just sit in your room .
K. G.
It was a great location, and I was appreciative of the breakfast included with the room. But for what it is, your own private room in a hostel, it was over priced. There are other 'hotels' where you can have your own room but share the bathroom for less the price.
O. P.
Reasonable hotel. Being central to the city is the best thing. The aircon is ridiculously loud and mt room was next to a bathroom which was also really loud when people had showers or went to the toilet because the water was being pumped around. It kept me up the first nigjt I stayed but I got used to it.
K. M.
Terrific situated nice and clean hotel ! After having write already previous statement, I read more comments, so I needed to add this : yes, they are not baths in the room, but you have one on the level for men and another for women, so .. ? Do you have private ones in the army??? For the price and location, Y-hotel us just perfect. thanks guys !!! If I come another day downunder, I'll stay with you ! ;-)
D.
Great location for the cost. A simple hotel for those who aren't looking for anything fancy. The breakfast included is not very good. I recommend going a short distance away to the Two Eggs restaurant.
B. C.
Nice hotel. 3 star amenities, very convenient location. Offers a basic breakfast and will mind your bags after checkout for no additional cost.
A. C.
Perhaps the hotel with most strategic location in Sydney; close to almost any tourism sites and traveler spots. I remember there was a miscommunication between shift related to check-ins, but all was good and resolved well.
S. C.
Overall amazing. Very helpful and super friendly staff. Great location. We really enjoyed our stay there. Would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Sydney!!
G. R.
Decent room and breakfast. Two stars instead of four because of the very poor customer support. We accidentely left our driver licence in our room and sent a lot of e-mails but didn't get any repsonse.
M. Z.
This is the horror horror hotel. The check in system is as complicated as a hospital admission. I travel for business so someone paid for me, because I am not the credit holder and they don’t check me in and ask me to contact the supervisor. The room is uncomfortable. You can’t open the door and you can’t close the door. Strange!
C. M.
Cheap hotel with low quality. Tiny double rooms with basic breakfast included. 3 stars for price, location and free wifi. took two stars for mini fridge and the 20ish tv inside the wardrobe and for small rooms and quality.
W. K.
I have no idea about the hotel but I am a fan of the bar. Happy hour is a delight with $5 drinks and $15 cheeseboards. Get your vocal chords warmed for a song evening.
D. B.
Cost effective! Friendly staff. Don't expect too much for breakfast. The price is very cheap in Sydney . Anyway it's good to choose. Except wifi is not stable.
P. S.
the communal bathrooms are dirty, and certainly 2 bathrooms and showers are not enough for 60 guys. Why is there 3 girls bathrooms and 1 guys bathroom on 5th floor? Hotel is also too pushy with politics. No one wants to see a gay flag and feminism as soon as they walk in.
just stay in the YHA nearby.
M. T.
ok for short period. Breakfast not so good since only bread and buter/jam in the room price. Location is great
P. B.
Great hotel in central location, clean and with helpful staff. Brekkie is fine , enjoyed the muesli with Joghurt and fruits. And you spend your money for a good cause. Definitely returning!
G. M.
Great value for money, great location, if its a clean bed with minimal frills then this is the place, I personally recommend it after all you shouldn't be looking at the hotel for entertainment, just a clean bed within walking distance of your chosen entertainment.
A. R.
Great hotel. Clean and tidy. Nice location. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Breakfast was very basic though.
A. H. A.
I am a light sleeper and had a room on level 8 facing the road.Unfortunately at night,
there were frequently loud traffic noise from motocycle and sirens.
Requested to swap to another room to be away from traffic but no luck as hotel was fully bookes. The hotel wa also under renovation till April 2018.
Overall not good for light sleeper.
C. F.
It's actually a deluxe backpackers hotel, rooms are pretty small , and keys won't work for anyone , shared toilets pretty expensive but amazing Location
Location is the only plus about this hotel nothing else .
Ohh yaa breakfast is same everyday consisting of bread cereals and milk ,tea coffee
L. D.
The hotel was clean. It was nearby all the tourist attractions in Sydney. Breakfast was simple and nice. Toast, Muesli, Cereal, coffee and juice all available for free. Will definately come back to stay here again.
A. P.
Good value for money. Well located accommodation within walking distance to central Sydney CBD. Pleasant clean rooms. Highly recommended.
M. F. (.
I was very ill and had incorrectly booked a shared bathroom room. When I asked the reception to move, offering to pay for the change, they did not help. I asked for a refund so I could book another hotel with a bathroom in the room but they would not do that either. Extremely disappointing stay and horrible customer service.
S. K.
We stayed 6 nights with my family, nothing to complain about, except the cards to open the rooms which stopped working sometimes so we had to change those 3 times. Good breakfast, lovely people.
M. D. V. E.
Clean room, comfortable bed, good rates. Liked the breakfast you can have continental breakfast included in the room rate or purchase some side offers.
F. F.
Fairly cheap and certainly cheerful. Friendly staff, pleasant rooms and well located for central Sydney. Walkable distance to the train station.
i. R.
Had dinner at Steyne Pub. Ordered gnocchi, was delicious, fine quantity. Partners had seafood platter, very little for price. Half deep fried. Nice warm vibe, lots of different variety of seating. Great view out to beach.

Great space had to work while I stayed here and the place had a great productive energy and a super convenient location, would highly recommend to professionals.
J. E.
The price was just ok considering the bathrooms are shared. What can you expect in Sydney, everything is overpriced. Room was adequate for a night. Rather stay elsewhere but prices are rediculous in Sydney.
L. R.
Good location. The room was very small. It smelled of mold. It was humid. The ac didn´t cool down the room.
M. M.
Loved this hotel Upgraded to a queen by Ibrahim at no extra charge he was so helpful The room and bathroom were lovely Very clean Very comfortable would def stay here again Continental breakfast was fruit and yoghurt cereal toast go up as many times as you want if your greedy Couldnt fault this hotel and would stay there again without question
D.
5 night stay was just well situated for my purpose to be in Sydney, great room size (a little tight) comfy bed, great staff very helpful in all aspects. I'll be back again.
D. J.
The location was the best part.
The room was clean, fresh and comfortable The bed was comfortable and helped me sleep well.
The shared bathroom.
E. C.
Great hotel, close to everything with reasonable rates and friendly staff. Rooms are on the smaller side but have everything you need for a relaxed stay.
P. D.
Terrible customer service.
Lacks communication. Wouldn’t recommend.
l. s.
Great value through Booking .com . $ 160 for 2 nights with breakfast . Great location , clean and comfortable . Unbelievable value .
A. P.
Good location near the Museum Station . Close walking distance to the city and Darling Harbor. Nice and friendly staff with can do attitude. Good shared bathroom
b. D.
Basically worth my money staying there. Except for seeing used toilet papers on floor (that gross), but that was not the fault of the hotel ( some irresponsible guess). The minus point is the wifi, which need to be paid. Was here on autumm
C. F.
Poor customer service. We arranged with the hotel to have late check in and out times. Upon arriving at reception the staff advised we cannot check out beyond the standard time despite email evidence from the hotel confirming we had the okay to do so. Initially the rep said he'll provide the service free if we can prove confirmation. As soon as we did, the staff changed their story saying they do not have the authority and that we should contact their management.
S. H.
Great location and value for the night rate!
The hotel meets all requirements, it is located in a very strategic central point of Sydney.
Definitely worth it.
A. B.
The staff was very nice the room was small the bathroom was a different story the water from the shower would get all over the place and pieces of the shower was chipping you the option for you to have a private bathroom for an up charge of course or for a cheaper you could share a bathroom with multiple rooms
D. A.
Budget accommodation, clean, simple breakfast included. Helpful front desk. Would be nice if they had the buttons in the lifts fixed.
I. C.
The internet would fail all the time. I booked an extra night by mistake and they refused to reimburse. Breakfast was very basic. The room was clean.
J. F.
The hotel was under construction when we stayed, but there were hazards everywhere. Exposed wiring, the elevator didn't work at times, and the whole floor stunk of primer or something that saturated into the rooms. We checked out after that and found somewhere else to stay. Hopefully construction is done, but it really shouldn't have been open with those conditions.
K. G.
Very disappointed hotel is only just clean needs painting doggy fridge. Ladies Toilet and bathroom miles away from our room.
Very basic!
E. R.
I booked for a single room but got a triple room instead which I'm alright with that (even though I really want my single room) but the the disappointment is AC in my room is not working, I almost turned the temp. up to 5 celcious and the room still hasn't cooler at all. Also, the roadwork outside is killing me. I'll see if I can change my room to a better one, if I can then I'll reedit this post.

It's a budget hotel so what would you expect.
Rooms are rather small.
And depending on what floor and room you are in the wifi might not work as well as it should.
Not the best hotel but could use for a night of stay or 2.
J. C.
A nice hotel for budget traveller. Especially complimentary breakfast. It saved time to look around for breakfast.
S. P.
Staff at the desk where very friendly. It was soo easy booking in. I was given a room on thge top floor (8th floor) with a great view. This accommodation exceeded my expectation.
k. r.
Warm atmosphere and clean rooms. Breakfasts are provided and the location is great! Very near the main attractions in Sydney. Totally loved it!
L. G.
Very impressed with overall service, facilities and room. The breakfast was good and would definitely stay here again.
J. D. T. N.
Great vibe close to railway and central cbd.
Rooms a little basic and no in room plumbing but I guess you get what u pay for
D. S.
Location is great, breakfast was poor and the room was tiny but overall worth for the price.
Do not expect too much.
C. O.
Decent clean place. But expect your room to be smaller than the pictures. Breakfast is very basic :(
S. R.
This is a YMCA hostel. Attempts at renovation have failed (at least in the rooms). The photos on the various websites do not convey the poor quality of the rooms. I should have known better. If you are a backpacker this will be an improvement. For me it was not.
A. S.
Great staff, very comfy and clean room, included breakfast was very nice also, overall great value for money and wonderful customer service.
K. K.
Indeed very good location and very clean room. Recommended for visiting Sydney as all important attractions are very close.
Very friendly staff.
J. S.
The girl at the front desk was rude, as I was waiting to check in about 5 people came down to the front desk with the same problem saying their keys didn't work and then my keys didn't work and continued not work for 3 days, as I was being checked in they stopped to help some other person check in and made me wait. no internet above level 4 and the night manager was the rudest person I have ever meet. Don't wast your time with this place.
p. r.
Very very bad. Renovations are conducted loudly at 06h00 on a Saturday morning making rest impossible.
The cleaning staff stole my vitamin tablets and food.
Poor service and even worse quality amenities.
Avoid this place if at all possible.
t. m.
For a 150 bucks, I would expect a bathroom in the room. The shared space, besides the men's bathroom on the other side of the hotel, are 2 chairs and a table next to the elevator. Breakfast is what it sounds like, toast or cereal.
S. G. L.
Excellent experience. Stayed on the 22nd, both receptionist staff and front bar staff very helpful and friendly, building very clean and modern
J. L.
Excellent location, good price, very friendly staff, great restaurant. The air-conditioning could be improved, though.
L. G.
Smells disgusting, booked as two single beds and only got a double and $100 holding money which is required to be cash? Didn't realise we still lived before eftpos. Disgusting rooms. Entire building smells like piss.
D. H.
Breakfast was toast or cereal and be careful when booking.
Online prices are sold out and when you call to book, the prices are higher and they're actually not sold out.
M. B.
If i were a boss or manager here i will fire every reception people. Worse than my uni accommodation. Do not care about the customer's safety. Cheap is cheap. Backpacker is better.
P. K.
Good value and perfect location! Breakfast could be improved. White bread and sugary cereals are not the best way to start your day
P. M.
great location, affordable price with good breakfast for the day start. really enjoyed my family stay.
C. O.
Staff and manager went above and beyond to make our stay special.
Very comfortable and great location.
M. W.
Enjoyed my stay. The highlight was the staff the ladies who checked us in really exhibited excellent customer service. I will be back .
L. C.
The room was ok reception staff helpful but they didn’t go out of they way and breakfast wasn’t pleasant in fact the tables were dirty the staff didn’t bother to clean them and the jam was placed in big blobs in containers not very igienic and staff at breakfast didn’t look very happy not very helpful
D. C.
5 stars for value and location. I stayed in a double room, with shared bathroom. Would definitely stay here again.
A. G.
Very good price and lovely staff I like the hotel good value for money
D. L.
Great value, super friendly staff, fairly central location. Would stay again
J. H.
I stayed at this hotel for 1 night with 2 friends. The price was cheap, but the room was very dirty and to make it event worse: the receptionist were so rude and impolite!
A. B.
You get what you pay for. The room has the basic stuff you would expect in a hotel room. Furthermore there is a shared bathroom which is fine when you think about what you pay.
J. P.
Misleading info about continental breakfast, you only get toast, cereal, fruit and yoghurt. No croissants and cold meats in sight so breakfast is not continental.!!😁
V. N.
Needed to chang room 3x before feeling ok. 1st room heater no working with outside temp 5 c. Slept for one night. 2nd night upgrated room heater still not working. Changed the 3rd time given external heater. Finally settled down. What a pain.
S. I.
Good price, good location. We could walk to anywhere we need while we stayed at Song Hotel. Didn't have to drive much. Love it.
V. D.
Room size and bathroom too small for 2 pax. The window did not close properly so we were cold in the room, as the heating did not work. Breakfast too poor, no variety.
T. K.
This isn't a review but more of a question, I booked a room for next weekend a 3 person shared bathroom room just wondering if your rooms have mirrors in them since we have something on for the night.
I. F.
I am generally happy to stay at your hotel for this trip.
There is no problem at all from the point of view of cost performance.
J. K.
Good location, sufficient breakfast, overall OK. Lift queues could be a bit tedious and it is the first hotel where you don't have a phone in the room
D.
I booked at the wrong hotel, but Miller from this branch helped me transfer hotels very seamlessly. Great service!
E. J.
This hotel is at a great location in central Sydney, right next to Hyde park. Room and beds were clean, and continental breakfast was included.
L. C.
Okay for price. Small and simple twin share room. Noisy climate control. Cheap option for short term stay.
A. L.
Terrible. Room had no bathroom or toilet... shared public bathrooms only. Air conditioner not working. No water in mini bar and no lamps at all! Felt like I was camping!
N. P.
Calling this a Hotel is a massive stretch, It was what I consider a hostel and not that nice of one. Great staff but for the price I wont be back.
G. O.
I was impressed with the rooms and facilities. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The internet didn't work, however.
R. D.
Good location. Just few minutes from Hyde Park and City Centre. Friendly staff and clean rooms and towels.
Z. W.
Not more than a 2 star hotel. Shared toilets and bathrooms, and a very very veryyyyyy basic breakfast. Not happy at all!
Z. K.
Clean rooms, very friendly staff, located in central with reasonable price! Within walk distance to Darling Harbour, Opera house, China town, and Central. Good place.
M. I.
Lovely hotel, great staff. The rooms were fantastically clean and I would definitely recommend song hotel to anyone.
G. K.
Great priced hotel in Sydney CBD. Convenient location near public transport and city centre. Great for business travellers such as myself.
A. T.
Good budget accommodation Well located and adequate at the price Only a few small niggles, easily fixed, prevent a 5* rating.
P. M.
Great location, friendly staff. Room slightly smaller than expected. Clean, safe and reasonably priced.
D. N.
Okay place to stay, simple breakfast included. Spacious rooms but a bit noisy.
A. H.
Rude staffs, cheap backpackers quality (dirty facilities, 100% noise) certainly not meeting a 3-star hotel rating!
K. G.
The hotel is clean and comfortable, but the price for the service is not good, because the price is high
R. T.
Shared bathroom, not clean. one shower per floor.
Basic breakfast, expensive price quality ratio
A. S.
the car park allows only 1 access, otherwise will be charged every time.
S. F.
Very good, great location for most Sydney attractions.
Expect a continental breakfast
ie bread and cereals
P. K.
Nice clean rooms, tidy shared bathrooms but I don’t understand why there isn’t stairs to get up and down between levels
K. B.
Cheap, comfortable rooms, great location. Staff very helpful with any requests had.
L. S.
Expensive for crapy room shared toilets and showers plenty of cheaper beter places to choose from near by
C. Q. (. O.
Not a hotel. A hostel at best. Rooms didn’t even have their own bathrooms which was not what was advertised.
A. D. (.
Clean, but it was very noisy and the walls were not sound proof. It was still good for budget accommodation. :)
H. N.
Disgraceful service and highly dispresctful the rooms are terrible and have had poor maintenance. Did not meet my expectations of the photos by far!
r. c.
Great service and friendly staff at affordable price and convenient location. I highly recommend this hotel!
T. d. J.
I think that it’s great except for the bathrooms and sometimes depending on what floor and room you are in the wifi might not work as well as it should
M. B.
Good place to stay very central in Sydney. If you going to Philippines Embassy in Sydney stay here the Embassy is a two minute walk.
L. R.
Pleasant stay , central heating ensured a warm room with excellent WIFI service & FREE breakfast was good also.
R. D.
I hated it room smelt, was dirty and had a general bad vibe to room shower leakedall night and beds where itchy
J. S.
Great hotel. Even better price. Rooms are nice and well kept and the staff is friendly.
P. M.
Very nice staff. Helpfull. Good breakfast. Great location in Sydney center.
A. M.
I have mixed feelings about this place on what hand it's priced well but on the other hand its kinda of a glorifed hostel, its in desperate need of a birthday
L. K.
Located near station, bus stop, convinient store and Hyde park. Room is a bit small but clean.
M. S.
Really clean and organised facilities, as well as comfy beds. Very modern as well. Definately coming back again
H. T.
The room had no toilet and they didn't said until we were in the room, also the "breakfast included" is just bread and cereal. Wouldn't recommend it.
S. O.
Decent place. Parking is extra. Communal kitchen is rather small and sparse (no knife/utensils)
j. A.
Rooms were spacious and affordable, breakfast was simple yet provided good variety
H. Y.
This is a comfortable budget hotel in a great location and is very good value for money in every respect.
E. D.
Location is good with Hyde Park view. Price includes simple breakfast.
C. W.
Nice clean neat room, good value for money!
A. B.
It is an efficient technology forward hotel located at the Southeast end of Hyde Park.
s. A.
Excellent service staff extremely helpful room nice and comfy and clean will stay again if in sydney
V. V.
I have booked three nights in July and booked the wrong room I rang last night to change it and the man l spoke to was very rude and told me to cancel it myself and fix it he showed no intrest in helping me l hope the service is not like this when l arrive l will be very disappointed not very positive customer service at all if the man at the service desk doesn’t won’t to help a customer out maybe he shouldn’t be working at your motel
A. S.
Great location. Nice option for a couple nights. Not very comfy for family though.
B. T.
Walking distance to many tourist destinations. Very near subway & bus stations (around 2-3 min walk).
A. B.
near train station, easy to move.
walkable to many restaurants and good cafe.
room is ok, not bad.
V. E.
Three bed room with ensuite. Nice rooms, no lock on bathroom door. Breakfast included was nice.
S. 1.
Nice and cosy. The food is really good and the staff very friendly and have a smile for you
P. E.
Friendly and helpful staff nice place to stay and clean environment:)
Y. F.
Very fairly priced room, also good as close to station and nightlife.
R. *.
this hotel is very good, but the wifi doesn't work, we need to go downstairs and have the free wifi
C. D.
It was one my worst hotels I ever tried, rooms are not clean and extremely smelly and staff were not cooperative
