G. D.Wow, the Seafood Paste blew my mind so much that I ordered a nother to take home. Fish and chips are up there with the best you'll eat and the Pan seared Barra was faultless. 20 in a pokies and paid for lunch...Thank ya mother for the rabbits.
T.Great service, good beer, has a little family room with pinball, arcade machines, and two pool tables. It doubles as a hotel which has good service and amenities and is also in a lovely little area.
A. G.Great local pub with a variety of menu items and plenty of fresh seafood options. Friendly and quick service and everything reasonably priced (except the salads) with mains from $18 -$25. Brooklyn is a lovely location only 30-45 minutes north of Sydney on the Hawkesbury River and is worth travelling here for a change of scenery.

First rate chicken parma, chips and salad washed down with ice cold Reschs. The service and amenities were outstanding the gents spotless (always the mark of good pub). Great day out to a hidden gem halfway between heaven and hell.

A. S.The Anglers rest is a great place to visit if you’re going to Hawkesbury River. You can get there from the station easily or after the Cowan to Brooklyn section of the great north walk. Good selection of drinks. The staff are absolutely lovely and accomodating.

D. M.This has been my local since March 2019. It's a solid, good ol' Aussie pub. Outside of COVID-19 it has some of the best live entertainment around. The food goes beyond your typical Aussie fare (some of the freshest seafood around). I had my 60th there and I plan on having my 70th and 80th there as well. On ya Geoff and team :)
p. p.Friendly staff, layed back atmosphere, beautiful big meals and nice and tidy rooms. If you're after place to lay your head after a busy day out about the Hawkesbury this is the perfect place to to stay if you don't mind shared toilets and showers. For the price you can't go wrong. A TV in the room would have been nice as I usually fall asleep with it on but that's my only complaint. Definitely would stay again.
S. H.We had a day trip to Brooklyn and lunch at the Anglers Rest. I had the best fish and chips I have had in years. I chose the whiting which turned out to be small butterflied whiting fillets. The batter was light and crunchy and the fish delicate and juicy. Would highly recommend!

G. K.I have fond memories coming to the Anglers Rest back in the 80's every 3 months for work functions. We use to get on the train from Epping and stay until the last train left Brooklyn to go back to Epping. The funny thing is, 30 years later, we find ourselves living just up the road and this is now our local. The beer garden area is a chilled spot. The restaurant could be so much better though. Have found the food to be very greasy at times but outside of that, its not a bad spot.
G. C.The Coldest, Freshest beers on tap I've ever tasted. Very quaint old school place but everyone is friendly and has a nice outdoor area with a good view. Short walk to Hawksberry station. Hidden Gem ;-)

M. S.This pub is amazing! Had dinner and drinks here after a log old bush walk. Any pub that lets you buy wine by the bottle from the bottlo then drink it in the pub restaurant for $1. Bloody brilliant place. Lovely publicans too.

If these are you're expectations, then this is what you'll get.
Its an honest operation with locals behind the bar and regular locals ready to make a mockery of themselves over a brew or too many.
Accom. April Anzac Long weekend $90/night it was fine.
+ Stayed in a double room, was clean and tidy, bed quite comfortable
+ plenty of car parking around
+ rang up to book, simple transaction and paid cash over the bar, good showing around, no departure instructions so just left the keys on the bed.
- no cupboards but wouldnt/didnt matter for only one or two nights which I believe would be the bulk of their stays.
- shared bathrooms tho clean and modern
- if you're a light sleeper/partic if you have the window open you'll hear the commuter train at night and especially the freight train but we're cool cucumbers with that.
Food:
I had the T-bone steak chips and salad $26. Mushroom Sauce $4 (which i thought was a lot but when it came out it was quite a pot and very tasty)
GeorgieGal had the chicken Schnitzel $24approx.
I personally thought I chose a lil better as GG's chicken tasted a lil dry and bland in my opinionation but hey she was happy and I didnt tell her what I thought so all guud.
Look the meals are prob a lil over priced (due to average quality) partic as the restaurant area its self was far from impressive but the serving sizes were decent and we were able to sit on the pub foredeck which was better than in the standard dining area.
Food wasn't bad just nuthin spesh.
Restaurant seems to be run as a diff entity from the pub.
This is a good potential business for someone to try take over management and improve.
I do appreciate when as a Bistro operation they bring the food to you rather than having to get up with a noisy flashing buzzer and you lose all them social vibes.
Bar:
Plenty of TV's for the sports watchers, 2 pool tables, 1 main bar with a good range of Local Aussie beers on draught, 4XXXX Carlton New etc, Apple Cider and plenty of rum, bourbon and spirits.
The Outdoor patio/deck in front of the pub would be a place I'd love to come back to for a red hot crack at some schooies for a summer arvo session. Big tables, umbrellas, front facing, town central. Was quite inspired to find another reason to return to say the least.
Overall recommended, just don't come expecting the Hilton.
I will return, just don't know when. I like it in a quaint way. Cant be fansay all the time!

A mariner at the front door , water taxi , and asortment of shops , great friendly crowd with nice views , railway station across the road , if you like a drink but are worried about drink driving , a cool little place to check out , you won't be disappointed .

Much admired by drinkers passing through on Newcastle line trains who all notice this pub which is located far enough into the rail journey that all drinkers are desiring one after being on the train for so long. Although we all plan to stop in to this picturesque pub in the picturesque village by the Hawkesbury one day, due to required commitment of submitting to the all stations train, and the fear of missing the last train and being trapped in Brooklyn for the night, few ever have.
