W. M.We stayed in August 2020 so during Covid and happy that all social distancing etc was controlled. The pub, people and food are great. Stayed in one of the hotel rooms behind the main building and found this to be excellent.... very new, absolutely clean and very comfortable. Loved the Aussie touch of Arnott's bikkies with your tea! Very good value for money.
J. H.The BEST hotel in town, well worth a visit. Entertaining staff, we had a Sunday roast for dinner, entertained by the staff. Sing along available if you request a song. We went to all the hotels in town, this was the best for friendliness, cleanliness, meals and centrally located.

B. R.The bad:
The aircon in our unit was *very* noisy. It didn't heat the room adequately either. I suspect it's on the way out. It also blows directly onto the bed it's mounted over, if you happen to be in the single. Kept me awake all night both nights.
The WiFi signal is so weak as to be useless. Couldn't stay connected for more than a minute. No idea if it's fast or not, it's unusable.
There's nowhere to put things in the bathroom or toilet. No flat surfaces to sit your toiletries on and only a couple of hooks for towels. Nowhere to hang a change of clothes. No hooks or shelves at all in the toilet.
No exhaust fan in the toilet either. 😳
The hot water is very slow to appear, we're talking minutes. When it does arrive, you won't need to mix any cold water in, it's not that hot. Luckily it's warm enough for a good wash.
For some reason one side of the double bed gets no bedside table.
Other than one small cupboard, there's no places to hang clothes and there is nowhere to sit a suitcase.
The good:
Nice big modern TV. A handful of Foxtel channels thrown in, not so many good ones, possibly good if you like sport or old shows. TV has apps for Netflix etc, but WiFi is rubbish.
Kitchenette is nice, there's a small fridge, microwave, sink and, jug. There's enough plates, bowls, cups, glasses and cutlery for a couple of people to get by nicely for a few days.
The room is modern and clean, with comfortable beds. There's nowhere to sit, however. If you want to watch TV or read a book, you're in bed, which is not so great if your back isn't.
There's a breakfast bar with a couple of stools, they're very close together though, you're shoulder to shoulder.
The bathroom and toilet are modern and clean. No heating in either, unfortunately.
There is off street parking. It's on the side of the rear lane, behind the rooms, so not exactly secure and not covered, but it is quite close.
The pub does great food, but you can't get breakfast. Luckily there are a few good cafes nearby. There's a large IGA right across the road, if you need groceries. There are two bottle shops across the road as well.
The staff were all very welcoming and also helpful. No complaints at all in that regard, you couldn't ask for better. The hotel is right at the centre of town, so you can't get a better location.

C. K.Made a mistake booking a room very basic beds really comfy bring your own tea, coffee and milk no microwave outside toilet and shower but they also have cabins next time will book a cabin dinner yummy and beautiful pub with open fire in an outside will stay again 😊
B. F.My motorcycle group of 8 riders stopped for lunch at the POW on a miserable wet Sunday. Steve, the Covid Marshal greeted us warmly and monitored our registration process, then steered us toward the last seating space available for a group eight. We were all fairly soaked however after a soft drink and a very nice meal plus some time in the warmth, out we went into the worsening weather and continued on our run. We would appreciate it if the management of the POW congratulate Steve on a job well done. Thank you too to the remainder of the staff. The boys and I look forward to another visit.

C. S.Beautiful friendly staff. Great atmosphere with loads of ‘Aussie’ decor. Good wholesome food, meats still tender, veges slightly crunchy (just right) & quite a few condiments to choose from. Background music mainly 70’s & 80’s & just the right level that it does not ‘compete’ with normal conversations. A true Australian hotel.

A. T.Stayed in room 15. Didnt expect too much from a 3.5 star establishment but I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality higher than expected. Clean room, clean sheets, clean bathroom, no dusty smelling fragrance and the staff went over and above. We had dinner and a few drinks at the adjoining pub and we had a blast of a night.
If I had one recommendation, if you're wondering where to stay for the night on the way through, stay here. Have a chat with the locals, have a local wine, have a beer and try the food. You'll come to the same conclusion that you'll be back!
