Comments of Melba's Chocolates

I really enjoyed the chocolate i have bought from this lovely shop. The workers were so nice and friendly and now this is my go to chocolate place. Very delicious chocolate especially the dark rocky road and i specifically enjoyed the dark chocolate cherry chocs. i would now recommend this shop to anyone who needs or wants chocolate.

An old fashioned chocolate factory that definitely worth a visit if you are a chocolate fan.
Has all kinds of flavour, drinks and ice cream.
They also provide a playground outside. Kids will love this play for sure.
K.
Lovely chocolate factory with yummy chocolates. The cow pat chocolates are fun, and they have a wide variety of lollies and chocolates. The coconut rough is delicious.
Staff are very friendly. We'll be back!
R. W.
Here's a great place to bring interstate visitors or anyone with a sweet tooth.
They have a great range of chocolates and other sweets. You can see confectionery being made and get the best hot chocolate you've ever tasted.
But here's a tip from parents of a toddler: white chocolate doesn't necessarily mean less mess.
d. h.
Haven't been here 4 awhile the look is amazing. Great cafe and food. Awesome assortment of condiments. Friendly, helpful service. Worth a trip. 😊
C. M.
Some really nice chocolates. They have a great range. The kids will love it here so many varieties of chocolates to choose from.
S. S.
Perfect Father's Day present. Called in to Melba's Chocolates and purchased a $25 bag with all the favourite's a dad would like. My Dad is 90 and he will just love these in front of the telly.
Happy Father's Dad. 👍
C. B.
It's a great place for all the family. You can view some of their chocolate & lollie making skills. So much variety to choose from, grab a bag of your favourites or grab a bundle it's all there 😉
k.
Drove my client with special needs up to Melbas in Woodside today for a visit, which he was very excited about! The staff were welcoming, friendly, understanding, and just fantastic!! The staff working in the various chocolate making rooms were happy to tell us all about what they were making, and pointing out the various machines. We had a great afternoon, bought some yummy chocolates (my companion was chuffed that he could buy a chocolate letter which matched his initials). We will certainly be back!
B. M.
Have taken my Grandkids here to get some treats for Mum n Dad.Good variety of sugary chocolate goodness 😋
Some mugs & soft koala toys etc to purchase.
A. C.
A must see attraction for Tourists and a favourite Easter Tradition!
The chocolate is world class!
S. C.
A very unexpected Chocolate lovers paradise in a quiet little town.
In no way does the lovely old barn appear to be a chocolate factory from the outside but the moment you walk inside you'll be feeling like a kid in a candy store!
So much to choose from and so much to try, all the way around the room are samples to taste to help make your selection easier (or harder for any chocolate lover because you'll just want more).
The staff are all super friendly and go about their day to day of processing and packaging.
Very exciting visit for the whole family with lovely undercover eating out front where you can enjoy your selection with a nice cold drink or fresh coffee from the cafe inside.
I highly recommend one of the chocolate bags, very good value for money with lots inside.
B. C.
From the moment you enter the door and are hit by the chocolate aroma, you'll fall in love with this little place. Melba's is a classic traditional little chocolate factory. Filled with lollies and chocolates of all types, you can watch these delights being professionally made, chat to the fantastic staff, enjoy a drink or simply enjoy some top quality chocolate.
I first visited Melba's as a child, now I take our kids to visit this place. Their eyes light up when we say we're going to Melba's - there favourite the chocolate frogs. My favorites the chocolate freckles or choc coffee beans. However If your visiting you simply must try a hot chocolate. Drinking a hot chocolate made from REAL chocolate is just something else!
K. d. A.
Was surprised because the chocolate actually tasted good. Kids love this place for the samples and seeing how it’s all made. It’s very hard to visit without buying something. Be warned. It’s also a lovely drive to get there so enjoy the day
C. W.
Nice range of chocolate and sweets as well as some top notch coffee and hot chocolate. Call ahead to ensure they are making the chocolate on the day as we unfortunately visited during stocktake meaning everything was shutdown.
T.
Huge selection of chocolates . And the chocolates really nice tastings . small drink bar with coffee & milkshakes . It's worth a Trip out
A. S.
Great spot to visit in the Adelaide hills. Lots of sweet treats to buy and some samples on offer. Cafe on site for coffee, hot drinks, chocolate and small food. Free entry.
N. C.
Great old fashioned Chocolate factory. You can't help coming out with a few purchases. The hilarious cow pat chocolate! Who would have thought Aussie humour in chocolate form!
H. N.
Variety of chocolates 🍫
Yummiest
S. W.
I've been here so many times and love it but today I tried their Hot chocolates. And all I can say is they are to die for! There is a number of different flavours to choose from.
They use their own chocolate straight from the tap into the milk jug.
Absolutely amazing
d. b.
Great place for some favourite chocolate classics. White, dark, snakes, rocky road and peanut brittle. Lots of people grabbing a coffee as well.
J. M.
A great place to go to get some choclate and a nice drink. The staff here are really friendly and good to talk to and the prices are amazing for the quality you get. I defiantly recommend that you go here and give it a go. Just look around grab some stuff and taste how good it is.
N. G.
Nice chocolate factory with lots of different chocolate options. They have few processes on display for public like - coating chocolate, packing etc.
This is not as big as the chocolate factory in philip island victoria but has a different vibe to it. The chocolate scupltures on display showing lots of chocolate powder on ground and everywhere makes you feel you are in chocolate world as there is lots of chocolate all around that room.
There are public toilets including the disabled/baby change room.
Also, there are free samples and a coffee shop. And we went here there was a spud truck selling yummy stuffed spuds and nachos. Loved it.. !!
Support local businesses and pay them a visit !!
D. R.
Great experience, such a variety hard to choose. Lovely chocolates
T. W.
What a Fantastic chocolate heaven
So much to choose from . Prices are great
Staff friendly.
L. B.
I assumed this place was a museum but was mistaken as its just a shop with a viewing window to see certain chocolates being made. With covid restrictions its quiet and the taste testing its on. Great chocolates....ended up spending $65!! safe to say my toddler was so overwhelmed :)
J. B.
It's just a great place to go on a wet Sunday afternoon!! Especially if you're a chocoholic like me😁
W. W.
Always love going here.
The staff are always friendly and obliging.
They do get to know you over time and recognised me through my order history.
The chocolate and variety are exquisite and always available, rare to be out of stock.
It is great to watch the lines in action and what they making and explain what is going through the line.
M. B.
A huge range of fresh chocolate and confectionery. A nice selection of hot and cold drinks available too.
e. m.
What a great shop the hot chocolate is to die for great service so many choices wonderful business awesome staff highly recommend a visit or two
D. M.
Fun experience for kids. Hot chocolate in the coffee shop tastes great!
D. C.
Massive range of chocolate, lollies, gift bags and gift boxes big and small. Three different sorts of hot chocolates. Seating area outside.
R. J.
Always my fix for a sweet tooth, excels in choice and product flavours, always a treat to the taste buds a must visit if you are a sweet tooth.
Great service wonderful place to visit always a pleasure on my many visits.
M. Y.
Hot Chocolate was great but too small. They are tiny. Get a large. Raspberry twist coated licorice is great!! Licorice bullets were terrible though soo hard inedible.
S. T.
Absolute gem of a place nestled away in the back of Woodside - this was my favourite place to sit back and write in the midday sun for quite some time. The smells, the ambiance and the service all hit differently.
Can't fault anything about Melbas.
I've sent my fair share of chocolates to family around Australia, and in my future adventures to South Australia I'll be making sure to come and visit.
M. S.
Awesome place to take the little ones and th er big ones, there sweets are amazing.
L. L.
Very good chocolate. You have to come when you visit South Australia.
D. C.
Would have nice to be greeted by someone, a little history on the place would've been great
H. D.
Great range of lollies then chocolates to choose from. An absolute place of conundrums for the grandies...
As a IDDMer it was great to find a nice selection of sugar free chocolates that weren't made of carob. I just might have to take up eating chocolate again...
L. L.
Great products. The chocolate is amazing. And the staff are lovely and happy to share and help.
Very cute inside. It nice to see the way it is made.
D. M.
Great range and lots of different pricing options. The only problem....it's all delicious 🤣
M. L.
When my family walked in their jaws dropped in delight at the range of traditionally made sweets and chocolates. You can watch the confectionery being made. It's like walking through a museum with displays of old world advertising signs from the 50s and 60s. There's a coffee shop as well. Its also a nice trip through the hills on the weekend so enjoy!
A. N.
Great place , but bring a full wallet 😛
S. P.
Lots and lots of chocolate, lollies and heaps more of everything sweet. Great place to visit
K. D.
As a disability support worker I was asked by my vision impaired client to visit Melba's Chocolate, it was easy to get around and the staff member who served us was absolutely fantastic talking directly to my client and letting her know where her bag was after payment.
M. B.
Such a great place to take the family! Sooo much chocolate 🤤
C. O.
The chocolates are fantastic and the variety enormous. Well worth the visit.
R. P.
Best hot chocolate on the planet! The chocolate and lollies are awesome and the atmosphere is welcoming, interesting and a truly happy experience! We all love going there 😊
J. M.
This is a terrific place to visit if you are a chocolate fan like Asheigh Brilliant, or even if you are more pedestrian in your tastes. Not only do they sell a wide variety and styles of chocolate, they make it on site! They also have a nice coffee shop. This is a great place to stop on a family outing in the Adelaide Hills.
P. D.
Great range of tempting chocolates and other sweet treats. The staff there are pleasant enough but that's all. They really need to show some passion for what they do, rather than just going through the motions. Smiling at the customers might be a good start. 😊
R. F.
They had free face painting n balloon animals for the kids as well as games on the front grass area.
Spuds van and coffee/shakes inside was great for the adults.
Chocolate always tasty at Melba's
E. D.
Best place in the world. Kids feel like they're on cloud 9- and the chocolatiers are so super sweet
Z. W.
A hidden gem nestled in the Adelaide hills. Quality chocolate at its best. Wonderfull collection of all your favourites. Added bonus of the cheese factory right next door.
P. C.
Great family fun. Huge range of confectionery. All staff very friendly and helpful. Made me a gift basket on the spot and even wrapped it up with a bow. You must visit this place if your in the adelaide hills for a drive.
B. G.
Must try the hot chocolate. Yummy! Great family day out.
L. G.
Excellent range, good prices, friendly staff, chocoholic's delight! Depending on when you go, can see chocolates being made. Great for all the family - highly recommend!
M. M.
Just like Wonka's!! People busy in rooms which will all have you wondering what the brilliant array of machines do
M. b.
Great place for sweet lover. I managed to spend $60. Disgusting l know. Too many to choose from. Great variety of Easter eggs as well as coffee shop.
M. B.
We all loved this. Great to see all the different areas where they make the chocolates and all the staff were friendly and waving at the kids as they watched. There is a large range of sweets to pick from, you are sure to find something for every taste.
W. E.
Lovely place great variety of products lovely staff
J. C.
Love this place and no, it's not just for kids. I love the smells, the samples and watching whatever is being made at the time.
I always have to buy a few items and my wife buys her favourites too. The chocolate they produce may not be really high grade, but it's very tasty. Prices there are very good.
I. B.
We were riding the Amy Gillet bicycle track with the kids (6 & 7) and decided to pop in... A silly idea as it was before lunch so getting the kids out without starting WWIII was a challenge. Would have been better if we weren't tired and hungry.
K. C.
Chocolate nice but very busy and didn't get an opportunity to have a good look at the chocolate making process.
N. H.
A beautiful little chocolate shop, with retro charm.
S. C.
Good range of assorted chocolate, chocolate coated nuts etc, nice and clean. Reasonable prices.
4.5 out of 5.
J. G.
Good quality chocolate but a little bit expensive
K. D.
If you love chocolate Melba's is the place to visit. There is a large range of lollies and if you want you can spell your name out with chocolate letters. There is also wheel chair access. I recommend the visit.
D. S.
It is a nice place and has a huge range of chocolates to choose from and but, we didn't really see anything actually being made..... it was being done in closed spaces open only to the staff so the kids did not really experience the actual "factory" experience.....
D.
Great visit! Definitely worth it. Fantastic selection and range. Well priced. Friendly staff and great to see the facilities in action!
l. b.
Lots of goodies and seems to be one of the last places where you can eat samples (small and yummy). Lovely staff. Most of the workers in the factory were friendly and happy to yarn. Sales staff very helpful. As a lover of chocolate I fully recommend calling in at least once or twice😁
L. K.
Power was out, although could use phones for torches still. Their dark chocolate contains dairy, Haighs dark chocolates don't have dairy, so no good for my niece with dairy allergies which was sad.
I know things are improving socially but I didn't like the fact that no one cared about social distancing, there were about 70+ people inside, while I was there, people were pushing and shoving, reaching for stuff right in front of my face, there was no distancing by people lined up to pay and despite me standing in an appropriate space away from the person in front of me, the person behind me didn't care and was right at my back. Also there was no one enforcing it despite seeing a covid marshal walking around, I guess the power was out so they were just focused on that at the time.
L. R.
Old world charm. Have been going to Melba's on and off for years. She has a wonderful atmosphere and sells great products. Some very unique. Had a white hot chocolate, which was absolutely delicious. Great stop when touring the Adelaide Hills.
L. S.
After enjoying a hot chocolate and visiting the factory, while on holidays, we left our purchase of chocolate's on the table. The staff were very helpful ,found the bag. They kindly posted the items to our home. Very happy with service and chocolate 's...
d. o.
Really enjoyed the homely atmosphere which includes many reminders of family run local business. Several rooms allow employees to demonstrate the manufacturing and finishing of their product.
The area is busy and packed with goodies, accessories as well as seconds 'slightly' visually defective goods for 50% off (tastes the same though!)
C. H.
Wowza I felt like a child in a toy shop but I just had money.
Place was amazing and staff so friendly just a tad sad a lady gave a family some rocky road to some people while we were standing next to them and we missed out 😢 so we had to just buy some haha
G. E.
Great for a drop in when passing. Good value for money and cool to see everything being made.
S. C.
Large selection of their chocolates. Try their hot chocolate in store!
K.
Always delicious. The service is just as sweet as the chocolate and there's always a smile. Range is great, everything from licorice logs to chocolate Macadamia's.
K. S.
Very nice selection of confectionery. Service was really helpful
N. T.
Amazing chocolate factory! Huge range of chocolates like I've never seen before, and many in a choice of milk, dark, or white chocolate. There were some free samples around, which was great, and some very decadent drinks in the cafe! Spent an appalling amount of money there, but it was worth it.
k.
love it, well worth the trip. excellent sweets & liquid chocolate😋
M. W.
Felt like a big kid again! Great range and pleasant facilities. Lovely drive at this time of and year through the hills.

After a slight unfortunate incidence re hot weather and melted chocolates I was VERY impressed with how Jessica handled the incident and fixed it. Jessica went over and above what I expected and everyone was very happy. Great place to deal with.
D. M.

Always came here as a child on school trips. I was sent their famous inch licorice by a friend and I forgot how incredible it is. I hate licorice allsorts and the like, this is completely different, it's brilliant. Will be visiting again when I get back to SA!
F. S.
Great place. Taste the chocolate before you buy, watch them make it, huge range of chocolates and lollies of high quality plus toys and nicknacks. Worth the drive and there's a cheese place right next door.
J. F.
Luv their chocolate & chocolate coated Turkish delight
G.
I always buy their licorice because its hard at the start and chewy towards the end. Its got the best flavour of any licorice I've ever tasted - and I try any that come my way since its my favourite treat. I give their licorice 5 well deserved stars.
S. P.
What a treat to go through those turnstiles once again and then the variety of sweets and chocolates is just incredible, something that must be seen to be believed.
L. H.
Amazing chocolate and really cool you can see it being made any time. A great business for the community and we stop in whenever we are close by. Always an excuse for a detour.
M. C.
Very charming place with lots of good and handmade candies and chocolate made on spot. You can also have coffee and enjoy the atmosphere in this old dairy. Very popular and recommended!

K. M.
Always a special treat to stop at Melba's Chocolate Factory on your way through the Adelaide Hills
M. H.
If you are driving through the Adelaide hills and around Handorf, make the time to drop in to one of Adelaide's little secrets.
Opened in an old Cheese factory in Woodside, they still make chocolate the old fashion. You can walk through and see how they create their confectionary and sample their wares.
They sell their own made treats plus many more. Also make a good coffee.
H. D.
Always great to visit a SA company. Choccies and lollies are always eaten quickly from here. Staff are always super polite and helpful. Try to visit whenever im in Woodside

(Translated) I went to this chocolate factory on the first day of 2022. The factory has a certain history. There are many varieties and unique shapes of chocolate inside. Both coffee and chocolate are very good.

(Translated) A traditional chocolate factory store with a long history. Ten years ago, we happened to pass by. It’s always the same to go back here today. The tradition is very complete, except for the young people who charge for it, remember that the last time was an old lady. All the interiors, workshops and equipment have not changed at all. The bronze characters of the revolving door should be eight or nine decades! Let me seem to return to ten years ago. I believe that many people will come here after 20 or 30 years, and remember the past time, they must be vivid! Looked at a circle, some of the candy inside is still the same as ten years ago, how to cross! This is Australia, a place where people never forget the past!
