Comments of Sicily Pizzeria e Bar
J. A.
One of my favourite pizza bars in Adelaide. Delicious Italian wood fire pizzas. The gnocchi is amazing! I’ve been here many many times and have had a consistently great experience. Staff is amazing and service is fantastic. Prices are on the high end but worth it. I’ll recommend dining here!
C. F.
We had pizza for dinner in this Italian restaurant and we left satisfied.
We ate a pizza with salami that had a strong taste but good, then a prosciutto with white base.
You can’t see from the picture but in the centre, under the prosciutto, it was a bit burnt; this because I asked it without tomato sauce and you should add more cheese to avoid the pizza to burn. But besides that, all the ingredients were good and I love when it’s used fiordilatte cheese instead of mozzarella, because it tastes even better.
Staff was also polite.
G.
Such a great experience eating at this pizzeria.
The service was quick and friendly.
We have ordered margarita pizza, murinciani, arancina and lasagna for kids.
Pizza was so delicious and authentic.
Murinciani was flavorful, arancina was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Kids really enjoyed the lasagna.
T. L.
The food was delicious. The service was great too. It was easy to organise a table for a good sized group.
We had a minor issue with the seating arrangement as a few of the people had the sun straight in their face. The staff ended up setting us up in another part of the building.
G. A.
I went there in February during the Fringe Festival and greatly enjoyed it.
Went again yesterday 9 Oct 2020 and was equally impressed.
The quality of ingredients is amazing.
Had the
MAMMOZZA Buffalo Mozzarella, Cherry Tomato, Fresh Basil, Olive Oil
SASIZZA CATANISI Sicilian Pork & Fennel Sausage Skewer served with Caponata Nostra
CAPRICCIOSA Pizza San Marzarno Pomodoro, Fior di Latte, Leg Ham, Artichoke, Mushroom, Black Olives.
To share between 2. Some wine and beer.
Great food and service.
Would be nice if they had some good craft beer but I think they want to be all Italian.
S. C.
Completely perfect. Beautiful food, excellent service, fun environment. We'd recommend it many times over.
K. c.
Authentic Italian pizza....simple ingredients and crust you will not chuck away. Every ingredient used was tasted. Will definately be back! Highly recommend the eggplant roulades!
S. W.
Great company followed by fantastic food. The three meat Lasange is to die for. Others enjoyed the Festa 1. Fabulous Espresso martini.
J. J.
Authentic. Food is great and not long to wait.
Staff know their menu well.
Seating is very tight & gets too loud.
R. M.
Love the pizza here! Great dough and good quality toppings. We had such a nice experience. Grazie Sebastiano! See you soon.
E. T.
finally a good pizza in australia, had to be sicilian
C. M.
This was our second visit in 12 months. Delicious wood oven pizza, you must try the mozzarella ball for starter!! The staff were friendly and attentional, service was prompt.
L. B.
Great pizzas. Friendly, helpful service.
M. A. P.
Pizza super yummy ! I would definitely go to this place again. The service was excellent.
S. T.
Not as warm service wise as sister restaurant Italy. Aperol and pizza were good.
Management: splurge on Spotify premium (ads are so annoying & downmarket). Train your staff on how to wear face masks properly (I appreciate that they’re annoying).
J. Y.
Awesome restaurant. Food is amazing and staff are very friendly and attentive
M.
Omg omg just experienced this place what a great place to go felt like I was back in southern Italy enjoying a fine Pizza with classic Italian beer The waitress was fantastic absolutely amazing as they say in Italia “Ragazza Molto Bella” would give 10 stars but google Don’t allow will return without doubt
H. C.
Pizza was spectacular and tastes just like italy
j. c.
Pizza was fabulous, service was quick and friendly, it was clean. We would be happy to go back.
M. C.
Great place. Menu is not convoluted, they know what they're doing and do it well. Good service and proper import beers to go with the Italian food. Well worth a nudge if you're in the area. I'll be back again.
A. C.
Lovely lovely and lovely. We had a table of 10 (Rundle St). Staff were very attentive, pizzas were delicious. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were so very helpful in organising the candles and cutting the cake for us. Nothing was too much trouble. Really enjoyable.
T. L.
Wow what an experience so glad to get in on short notice, the service and food outstanding real feel of Sicily
Y. L. (.
Had a delicious lunch on Sunday. Pizzas are delicious. Just remember there's a surcharge of 10% on Sundays. Friendly polite service.
R. H.
Food is average at inflated prices, noisy dining area, noisy kitchen. Service was good but prices were well above what you got. I have heated up coles pasta and enjoyed it more. Sorry. Fell short for our group.
L. B.
We have been to Sicily a few times now, and have really enjoyed it every time.
The most recent time we went we got the $35 feed me menu. The food all came out quite quickly, and was very delicious.
When the food came out, two of the pizzas were the same, and we asked if we could have one of them changed to a different pizza (we were not able to select the pizzas prior) and the staff were happy to change it over with no fuss and were very cooperative.
Very friendly staff and great food.
It did make it difficult that you couldn't do split/separate bills, however the food and service makes up for this small inconvenience.
E. A.
Five of us enjoyed our delicious foods there ( pizza, pasta and arrustuta). Just be careful when paying, you'd better check the bill yourself before paying😉
C. B.
Great service, delicious food and nice venue.
The Pizza's are just perfect, tasty & hot.
C. H.
This was my 4th visit - pizza is consistent, service is friendly but has been slow every time. Agree with other reviews that seating is quite tight and it gets very loud. No split/separate bills (will only charge one card).
L. B.
Opening of the fringe we had dinner here, service was great but the pizza's had very little topping on them. There was absolutely no topping anywhere near the crust. I'm looking for the best pizzas in Adelaide and and had hopes for this restaurant but sadly, this isn't it.
G. M.
Although the staff were accommodating, the ambiance is noisy and cold. The pizza was soggy, however want to try their other pizzeria on Anzac Hwy to see if it was just a poor experience in the city.
B.
Our booking was for 8pm and our table was ready at 8.40pm. We had to stand on the street and wait. We had a very large table booking and two people didn't turn up, however they insisted on us paying for the extra two.
The food was great the staff were average.
M. W.
Oh the pizza!! It's amazing. Traditional, simple and oh so tasty. If you visit in 'mad March' then you'll find that Rundle St is closed to traffic and they put tables out on the street. Makes for a really great atmosphere.
R. G.
Hands down this restaurant had the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. The prosciutto I had for entree melted in my mouth and the wine the staff recommended was excellent. I had the siciliana pizza with eggplant and ricotta and it was delicious the mozzarella and tomato sauce was so fresh. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Grazie!
N.
Service was slow, but the staff were friendly. Food was simple traditional Italian. Gluten free pizza base was impressive. Flavours were simple, but it was an enjoyable meal.
M. C.
I had my birthday dinner with 16 of my closest friends on the weekend and the service was impeccable, especially when it is the busiest time of the year due to The Fringe. The food was also sensational with my friends raving about the pizza. Thanks Cono and staff for looking after us. Baci.
A. P.
As close as you will get to a pizza sitting somewhere in Italy. Dough perfect, sauce spot on and the mozarella wow, cooked beautifully. The value for money is there too. We were in a large group and had one of the set menu offers, pizza and antipasto plus we added the pork sausage...could not fit another mouthful in all for under $40 per person. Complimenti!
A. C.
Food: Delicious and traditional, thin crust, wood-fire, Italian pizza! Salads were fresh and tasty.
Venue: The photos of the venue don’t do it justice; it is a very clean, vibrant and elegant restaurant with gorgeous Italian design and a large wood fire pizza allowing you to watch the chefs do their magic.
Staff: The staff are very polite, helpful and friendly.
Price: $23-26 for a pizza (they are large) which is cheaper than other places in the area which are no where near as nice as Sicily!
Ambience: I had walked all over Adelaide city looking for a nice place to eat that wasnt a pub or serving burgers. We finally found Sicily and were very grateful to have stumbled upon it. The restaurant had class and culture which might scare off locals who enjoy their pub food, but if you’re looking for somewhere special to eat and to enjoy a taste of Italy, try Sicily!!
A.
We ate here during the fringe and so sat us at the bar and as a result we had staff yelling over us, it would of been better to turn us down or at least let us decide! The food was good but not great, staff were friendly however service average for example they left our dirty entree plates on the table for the entire meal so we used these for all our courses.
M. R.
Pretty good pizza if a little expensive. Came in on a Friday night with a large group, restaurant was accommodating of the group but staff were a little surly. Was a bit overly pushy to get us to clear the table for another booking while people were still finishing up. No split bills.
E. T.
The staff were great, the pizza's okay, not filling for the price. The variety of pizza was dismal. All meat was pork products, no chicken or beef or seafood. A real shame.
- why are you replying to a 2 year old review -
Let me give you a review update then; Sicilian Pizza style (sfincione) is not always 32cm, the size is not relevant, however it is a much thicker pizza, more deep dish, the dough base is fried on the bottom because it is cooked in the pan with olive oil instead of placed on the hot stones directly. Your style is clearly closer to Neapolitan, and you could probably get certified by Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana if you even know about them? The other main issue is that your dough is heavy and not light an airy (ie not enough air bubbles/yeast), also I believe your recipe has too much sugar in it as set my diabetes off and my sisters 86 year old father-in-laws diabetes. I suspect if you used better fresher yeast and less sugar it would make the dough lighter (and cheaper). Maybe your style is closer to Catania, Syracuse or Messina Sicily but not Palermo. So not really covering all of Sicily at best 3/4's. Were is the Tuma cheese Sicily is known for, were are the breadcrumbs, were is the Buffalo Mozzarella?
Your city Pizza Bar has no meat options other then pork and pork products? If you choose to not sell other options then don't expect a 5 star review. You now cover for Vegans, Vegetarians and even Celiacs , but you refuse to use meat other then Pork. You don't even make a simple pasta dish without pork, not even the classics like Cacio e Pepe, Pasta e Fagilo, Pasta Puttanesca or the Messina version Vermicelli alla Siciliana.
If you wanted to keep being cheap or if it was about long shelf life you could have used pure beef salami, there is also shredded chicken sold for pizza making so you have no excuse other the fact that your doing it on purpose. You might love ham so much but it's not everyone's first choice of meats. Ham is not an every day meat due to it's high fat and salt content. It isn't the first choice for most people, but clearly your purposely ignoring this fact to be pretentious. Though you clearly listening to some customers as you server Ham and Pineapple, which in Sicily might be looked down on.
Looking at the menu words you have used. You say you used, San Marzano Tomatoes, but were they Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), show us the label? These are more expensive so you need to prove it. Did you cook your sauce or just use raw canned tomatoes? Instead of writing Cow Mozzarella you write Fior di latte and Trecce are you hiding the fact that you don't have Buffalo Mozzarella? You list olive oil as a menu item for some pizza's? Why?, which pizza does not have olive oil in it? Why are you padding the ingredient list out?
You use a lot of Italian word substitutions on the menu, all that does is wastes your staffs time answering dumb questions like "what is pomodoro?", I'm sure their sick of answering that question. With today's modern day POS system the "no separate account" is you being lazy or you don't know how to use it.The Card Commission is a false argument as commissions are a % of the total which you can charge for.
UNESCO does not recognize Sicilian Pizza but Pizza Margherita made the Naples way??
Unfortunately your too proud a man to listen to advice I'm guessing? But you can read other reviews if you don't believe me. If anything my review was generous, your PIZZA BAR is a pretentious over priced stock standard pizza bar which you use to boost you ego. Start by fixing your 1970's attitude to food and staff.
In final review, the food was okay, it would be better rated if it was cheaper because it pretends to be more then what it really is. This was an over priced pizza bar which serves okay pizza. The staff were good except the owner
M.
