First reviewed in 2021:( 2022 review posted below this one) Recently visited Farro after our long lockdown. This was actually the last place we ate at before lockdown and the first place to eat out when restrictions eased and we felt comfortable going out. First coming to Farro back in approx 2010 and revisiting after nearly 10 years, its still pleasantly the same, but in a comforting and reassuring way. We had only ever ordered pizzas but on pre lockdown had a gnocchi, texture great, but alittle salty for out palettes but still nice. My stock standard is always the Funghi pizza. Although all those years ago there was a more of a selection of mushrooms, including enokis, possibly from memory, sliced king oyster and swiss browns, the king and enokis they are no longer present but the taste is still the same due to the truffle oil used and still yummy to eat. Other favourite being Prosciutto and Margherita pizzas which are fab too and never fail to please us. The Spelt flour is awesome and so much nicer that regular flour. Cost is for us quite high as a low to middle income, so Farro is always a treat for us. ADDITIONAL Review, as of Jan '22. Ordered takeaway from counter when opened. Order of three pizza, Margarita, Prosciutto and Vegan Ortolana; ready in 15 minutes. All enjoyed however some of the lettuce on Prosciutto pizza was alittle old, yellowed. Didn't see this until got home. Vegan Ortolana was yummy but alittle more attention could be spent on evenly spreading the grouped toppings/ ingredients. Alittle oily for my liking but flavour of ingredients was nice. See pics attached.

We've had takeaway from here before and always rated it, but ate in for the first time on Saturday night and it was great! The food and drinks were lovely and the restaurant had such a good vibe. We had our two young kids with us and it was perfect for them, there was enough happening around them that they were kept occupied and they ate all of their kids pizza (and some of ours). Will definitely be going back.

Staff are always very friendly and pizzas and polenta chips are delicious! Love that they have heaps of vego pizza options. It has become a favourite takeaway of ours since moving to the area. Looking forward to be able to dine in now that restaurants have reopened.

This Place is absolutely unique in Melbourne. The pizza is really good, the service is excellent. There are two different types of pizza, one with spelt (farro) for people wihout any celiac disease, and one gluten free for them. I am celiac and I found this pizza incredible. They take care a lot about the cross contamination, so ask them to be careful if you are highly intolerant or celiac. All the desserts are gluten free and they can even do vegan version!!! Amazing

110% the best pizza in Melbourne. The spelt crusts are masterpieces and the pizza selections blend flavors together perfectly. The cheese is rich and creamy! My friend got the pasta and that was delicious as well, super fresh homemade spaghetti with bold sauce and plenty of toppings. Would reccomend to everyone!

The food is excellent, but that's just about all that Farro has going for it. The tables are often sticky. Service is inconsistent at best. My most recent visit the restaurant was almost completely empty, but the food still took at least 30 minutes while takeaway orders streamed past us in boxes. In any given two weeks, you can expect a completely new set of staff working there, which is not a great look and may explain the inconsistent service. Overall, it's probably worth checking out for the food, but there are better pizza restaurants in Melbourne, particularly on High street.

This is my husband's and I favourite pizza place. Since our first visit we've been here like 6 times. It's just the best quality pizzas with fresh ingredients and service is fantastic. I just love the whole vibe, it feels homey. The interior of the curtains and rolling pins are just always so cool to look at. Love this place! I just wish there were more options on the dessert menu, it'll be 10/10 for me

This is my favourite place for pizza. Amazing gluten free bases, great topping options, fantastic vegan selection and ONLY $20 for any pizza and glass of wine on Mondays. How much better can it get? Decor is super cute and the staff are always lovely.

I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. The food was insanely good. We had Parmesan and prosciutto croquettes and I’m still dreaming about them. The arancini was next level. We shared a pizza and I’m being serious saying it was the best pizza I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Italy numerous times. To top it off all the food and two glasses of wine came to $55. I couldn’t believe it! Staff were also so so nice and friendly. If you’re in Melbourne, seriously.. go here!!

A group of 6 of us dined here and most people enjoyed their food. Is this the best pizza ever? No, but its not the worst. The Bufala Pizza was lacking in flavour in the sauce, so made it kind of boring. But the pizza dough itself was lovely. 2 people had items from the Vegan menu and they were very very pleased. The staff here are really lovely and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was great. Broccoli and Italian sausage pizza for the win. Nice homely atmosphere, and they have Italian draft beer on tap served in big cold mugs. Came on a reasonably busy Sun night (perhaps everyone going to Gomez gig as well?). Despite quite a few staff, it took 15min for anyone to attend our table. It was a problem since we were 6 folk who don't see each other often so we were fine chatting. But still ... not even asking for drinks. Seemed a bit odd.

Takeaway needs improvement. The vegan fungi and Alfredo lacked flavour, and could’ve used some extra vegan cheese/feta, or olives, to boost the salinity. Further, the bases were chewy and tough. A disappointment considering how good the pizzas are when you dine in.

Great place. Extensive menu that would please everyone including a separate vegan menu. We were in a large group and all food was excellent- all were happy! Biggest plus was the staff. I was watching them at times and they worked very hard - non stop. Even when we were the last to leave they worked like a team to clean the restaurant up. Pizza Farro serve the best pizzas in Melbourne, the ingredients are such good quality, the bases are perfect, and their gluten free bases are freshly made and the best you can get. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Pro tip: come on a Monday when it's $20 for any pizza and a glass of wine, it's the best deal in town!

More than just a Pizza house .... On the breakfast alone (18/09/2016). We weren't too sure what to expect going for breakfast to a place called Pizza Farro. It looks like an ordinary Pizza house from the outside, Red & White signage doesn't help. So it was a great surprise to be greeted with a warm smile, family dining room style covered with some 300+ rolling pins hanging on the ceiling rafters, hand-made quilted blankets covering the exposed red brick wall, curtains made from stitched-up Australiana tea towels, wooden cutting boards on the wall, etc, nicely complemented with the painted concrete floor splashed with contrasting colours, minimalist Pro Hart style. Love their various colonial style tables and chairs, it feels like home. On their food; we were blown away with the quality and presentation from this unpretentious Pizza House, see photos. Baked Eggs & Chorizo , perfectly cooked, not too acidic, just needed a little salt & pepper. Impressive Cauliflower and spanner crab fritter with black truffle sauce, cucumber, radish, pickled onion, a poached egg, and mint-infused yogurt served on a dark Aquamarine Blue; Egg was brilliantly poached with a little garnish on top. The only thing that I would like to suggest, get more serious on their coffee; a boutique coffee beans, serious espresso machine and more options on their brew, what they have now didn't do justice to complement their food. What a great start to Sunday morning, eventhough Hawthorn is not in the Final anymore. You can't help yourself wanting to go back for more, as I'm always happy to be proven wrong when it comes to food.

When the food finally arrived it was excellent, however the experience was hampered by the waitress confusing gnocchi panna with Napolitana, further delaying our meals. Then to my horror, a latte glass was plonked on the table containing my wine. When questioned, the owner insisted that the environment was too relaxed for wine glasses... I recommended BYO wine glasses and orders and you may very much enjoy your experience.
