It’s a small but cozy place that serves a great variety of pizza. My fav is the porcini pizze rosse, which includes tomato, fior di latte, porcini mushrooms, prosciutto, & truffle paste. They’re generous with serving sizes, & the base always be on point.

Absolutely exceptional pizza served fresh by an awesome team! You'll be hard pressed to find wood fired pizza this good elsewhere in Sydney! Fresh ingredients expertly cooked and served piping hot. Plenty of toppings available plus weekly specials and a great range of starters too. It's a beautiful atmosphere and I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This place is an absolute gem. The owner is such a nice bloke. Honestly couldn't recommend it anymore highly. Had a fantastic experience, pizzas and drinks were great. Ask them about the limoncello and lemon creme drinks!

There’s two types of pizza. American style, which is that fat greasy mess you really need after a night of smashing margaritas and cheap beer. Then there’s this: Italian style, classic; it’s that Smokey tasting, crunchy pizza flavour with a perfect blend of cheese, meat and vegetables that reminds you of what food tasted like when people actually cared about cooking. Also it’s pronounced pan-“k”ina for all you folks who wanna be authentic.

Woodfired ovens are proliferating faster than pollies misconduct allegations these days. La Panchina has one of these, and a waiter just ready to Mr Hyde you if you take a step outta line (which of course I did). Never mind, Dr Jekyll is moments away. The pizza here is pretty good, though the crust lacks the key stretch of the best of them. The toppings are better than average. The salad is as remarkable as the steel chairs are cold and hard. It's a small place that has some charm....and just a little risk from the hovering scientist.

Excellent pizzas with quality ingredients, the two reasons for 3 stars is 1. The garlic pizza (one of 7 things we ordered) was burnt to a cinder 😞 2. The two tiramisu 'portions' were minuscule, kind of like one normal portion had been divided into 3 then put in small containers......... a real shame to what otherwise would have been a pleasant experience.

Great service from the owner! Really enjoyed a Monday dinner with a few friends. Would definitely recommend others to visit for amazing pizza and dessert. A new little gem that just opened in Surry Hills. Really good Italian pizza. There’s a playground next door which makes it very family friendly. The parents can enjoy a nice coffee while the kids can have gelato! Very easy going place! Owner and staff very friendly . Please if you have a chance stop there!

So fresh! So entertaining and I loved the option of a surprise pizza! I had so much fun coming to this place and loved how warm and welcoming the servers are. They really catered towards me feeling way too cold and adjusted our seats indoors for 6 of us. Well priced and so comforting to be treated like the stars of the place. The pannacotta is lovely! Cozy and authentic pizzeria in Surry Hills! I loved the service as even if everything happened at the same time the waitress was always smiling and taking care of us! They completely change my opinion on thin pizza! I've loved it and I'll definitely be back soon! Last thing: I really like the fact that it's Not noisy; nowadays most of the pizzerias or restaurants are too noisy and you can't enjoy your meal and have a nice chat with your friends or beloved! Highly recommend it for a date night or for a nice catch up with your bestie!

A warm, friendly and familiar atmosphere. People who come here seem like they come every week. The staff know the customers by name and are friendly to newcomers but not over the top. Everyone just seems happy to be there. Amazing pizza, ask for variations and they’ll suggest great ones. We tried it for the first time last friday night with friends who have been loyal clients to this well known address. We had dinner outdoor with patio heater. This is a BYO pizzeria, rare enough to be noticed. The restaurant owner is so nice, he definitely knows what he is doing. To be honest, that might be the first time I had a pizza where the balance between the thickness of the pizza and the quantity of topping is on point. After the pizza, do not miss the homemade desserts especially the tiramisu :D! We had a great time and will definitely come back!

We enjoyed this "hidden gem" in Surry Hills. It's located on a quiet side street with intimate seating which only adds to the experience. It is absolutely true that the owner Luca greats you when you walk in and if you're lucky he might join you for an after dinner drink to chat as well. The pizza is amazing and although it's hard to claim the "best" pizza status, I would be challenged to find a better pizza than the ones at La Panchina. With so many pizza restaurants in the area, this is one of the best one for pizzas. It's a good compliment to il barreto around the corner which only serves pasta.

Italians and Italian food lovers of Sydney: Don’t let the small size of this restaurant turn you down. There might be a few tables in there, but it only makes it cozier and more intimate. It was the first time me and my friends had dinner there tonight and we were very impressed with the food from the pizzas to the desserts! I lived in Italy and worked in Montreal’s little Italy for a while and I am quite picky when it comes to Italian food but this is literally the most authentic Italian food I had in Australia! Ps: if you manage to have room left for dessert, try the pistachio gelato or the tiramisu.

I keep coming back to La Panchina because they have probably the best GF pizza in the area, and I always receive a warm welcome and great service when I get there. Other pizzerias in the area have bad GF bases or not option at all, and often rushed and unfriendly service. However, it can get a bit expensive, especially with the GF option.

What a great place. I would highly recommend this place- one of the best pizzas I have tried in Sydney . Must try is pizza “Greta” ( prawns, pancetta, Gorgonzola ) one of their special and also Porcini pizza is amazing ! If you are fancy a Roman style pizza this is the place to go. It’s a very cute little pizza shop , not many tables , therefore book in andvance to secure your table. Homemade tiramisu is on the menu . Must try! If you don’t get your table they do take seats too.

This is a particularly welcome addition to the area, tucked just behind Il Barreto. La Panchina ('The bench' in Italian) is a small but perfectly formed wood-fired pizza place with probably 20 seats. They do takeaway too which you can take to the nearby small park (they have rugs you can borrow). Thr pizza is faaantastic (of the thin base/cook in 2 minutes variety) with well selected ingredients. They also have gelato. Win.
