Comments of Lucio Pizzeria
J. A.
Pizza was a little over cooked, leaves it with a slight burned taste, other than that it was fresh and delicious, tiramisu is made in house, very delicious but could use a little more liqueur and the Italian hot chocolate was flavourful and the right consistency but it wasn’t stirred quite enough and there were a few small clumps at the bottom, other than that it was a perfect night out, the staff were fantastic and attentive, quick and excellent service here and I would highly recommend the place.

Lucio De Falco, from Naples, Lucio has a long history of working with pizza from a young age and has worked all around Europe before settling in Sydney. He’s now been here over 15 years and owns and runs Lucio Pizzeria in Darlinghurst and Zetland.
Lucio has the stamp of approval for producing authentic Napoletana, being the vice president Australasia and member of the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana). He also competed at the Campionato Mondiale Della Pizza in Parma Italy, attaining the award for best pizza in Australia and 5th in the world.
That said, you know you’re going to be in for a good pizza at Lucio Pizzeria.
We arrive at the Darlinghurst location which has been a stalwart in the area for many years. It’s in a lovely courtyard area where tables allow you to dine alfresco with covered sails. The restaurant also has an open kitchen, allowing for you to see the chef in action at the dominating woodfired pizza oven, which certainly makes you salivate for the meal ahead.
The menu showcases the traditional and authentic Neapolitan style pizza, pasta, antipasti and desserts, using beautiful fresh produce sourced both locally and from around Australia.
There’s a great range of entrees and we enjoyed the lovely Capesante or scallops with pancetta and pumpkin as well as a side salad of Rocket with parmesan, pears and balsamic vinegar called the Rucola, Parmigiano e Pera. You’re able to try their zucchini flowers, calamari fritti or antipasto plates amongst a range of other Italian dishes.
Furthermore, we can recommend ordering pasta too. The Orecchiette al Pesto
or Orecchiette with pesto Genovese was an outstanding dish. Perfectly cooked pasta with the most beautifully flavoured and textured pesto sauce. We would most definitely order again.
But it’s a pizzeria of course, and you can’t leave here without having one of their amazing pizzas. The pizzas have all of your classic and authentic Italian flavours from Margherita, to Diavola to name a few, and our choice, the Capricciosa. This was a beautifully light dough, topped with a delicious mozzarella, mushroom, ham, artichoke and olives. We loved this, and tasted so good straight out of the pizza oven.
Although like us, you’re probably full by this stage, you can’t leave without dessert. The traditional Italian tiramisu is just as you hope for. The dessert has all your favourite flavours; the prominent lady fingers, mascarpone, coffee, sugar and cocoa and is so creamy and delicious. In addition, there’s also bombolini, pannacotta and even Nutella pizza.
Whilst you dine, why not order a glass of wine or beer with a range of Australian and Italian wines on the menu.
Lucio and the staff were so lovely and made every effort to ensure that we were welcomed and well looked after. Overall we had a wonderful experience at Lucio Pizzeria and strongly encourage you to pay a visit.

We had a delicious meal at Lucio Pizzeria’s flagship Darlinghurst store. The service was professional and the staff were very charming and obliging. Ordered the scallops (antipasti), lamb shoulder ragu with homemade Casarecce pasta, and the Campagnola (pizze bianche), I was so touched by the food because it reminds me of the time I spent in Italy and how good it was.
The lamb shoulder ragu was filled with complex flavours and fragrance that were so well balanced with the handmade pasta. A simple dish, the ingredients and execution had to be perfect, and it was. Definitely worth checking it out as it is one of new dishes introduced to the menu in this autumn while the store is celebrating its 13th anniversary.
Also fell in love with their wood fired white pizza. The one we had was topped with mozzarella, stracchino and mushroom that gave a chewy texture, and it had a billowy soft crust, blistered bubbles and a crispy bottom. Probably the best wood fired pizza I had in Sydney!

Great little italian restaurant which has been around for over 13 years. They have another shop in zetland but we choose to come here to try the food as it's the flagship store and they have a little different menu to the one in zetland.
The darlinghurst location is bounded round a courtyard area where part of the tables is in the courtyard area where you can dine alfresco with covered sails. The open kitchen let you see the chef making the pasta and pizza in the wood fired pizza oven. Using beautiful fresh produce sourced both locally and from around Australia we try the scallops with pancetta and pumpkin puree as entree, a cheese base Campagnola ( they have a good variety of tomato base and cheese base wood fired pizza), lamb shoulder ragu Casarecce pasta and tiramisu.
Pasta was made fresh daily from zetland store and use it here. Love the lamb ragu flavours the meat was tender and flavoursome and saucy enough to cover all the pasta and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and chewy which I like. I love the woodfire pizza it has good texture and great toppings options to choose from. The tiramisu was moist, fluffy, creamy and perfect sweet ending to the meal.
Lucio and the staff were so freindly, helpful and made every effort to ensure that we were welcomed and well looked after. Highly recommend to check this place for authentic wood fired pizza and hand made tasty pasta.
K. L. (.
Decent pizza but I’m neutral on the more doughy texture and some parts had the burnt taste. We had the three types of fritto - arancini was a little dry and not much flavor. Crocce was tasty with potato and ham insides. Monteserra was the tastiest with tomato sauce and cheese on fried pizza dough. For the pizza, we had diaviola and tartufo. Daviola was tomato sauce and had some spicy sausage on it. Tartufo was a white pizza that had truffle oil, canned mushroom and prosciutto. Friendly server. Nice wine - Chianti and Pinot Grigio. Tiramisu is quite light and spongey
D. M.
Overall the food is the star of the show. Gnocchi and pizza good, and the calamari was nice and tender. The pizza and gnocchi was nothing extraordinary but was good quality.
The service was not that great. The food came out with the entree last, but all food was on the table at once. I would expect that you’d eat entree, then pasta/salad together, then pizza. Rather strange and felt like they were rushing us out by dumping it all together with no breathing room. The almost comical part of the night was ordering a scoop of hazelnut gelato for dessert. It was laughably small (see photo).
Then after 75 minutes they asked us if we wanted the bill, which is effectively giving us the bill. Which is okay, but 20 minutes later we still didn’t have it. Nice to not be bothered for 20 mins.
As we left they were in a mad hurry to reset the tables did the next round of guests and two staff members bumped into me like they weren’t aware of their customers.
Moral of the story is the food is good but probably better takeaway!

Lucio’s Masterclass that I attended on 17-04-21 was simply brilliant.
I learnt how to make dough from start to finish and I even learnt some tricks of the trade.
Both Lucio and Francesco were both very knowledgeable, humble and most helpful and obliging for the entire 3 hours.
I am very happy I attended the Masterclass as it was most worthwhile.
The photos are the result of the dough I personally made during the Masterclass that I then took home with me, letting it rest overnight as per Lucio and Francesco’s advice and then prepared the pizzas and cooked the following night. I managed to make approximately 7 pizzas from the dough.
Whilst I can not compare myself to a professional Pizzaiolo and was not able to get it perfectly round for my first attempt, the taste was sensational.
I would certainly recommend the Masterclass.
Many thanks to Lucio and Francesco.

Hidden Gem. Great woodfire pizza, one of the best bases. Minimal Gluten free options, but we’re able to accomodate with a tasty pasta dish. Amazing polenta chips. Service was good.
Very busy and popular, got a little crowded, booking recommended or get there early.
C. F.
Place not really beautiful but pizzas were all right. I ordered Lucio pizza, half Margherita and half Calzone. I liked more the Calzone side, with ricotta, mozzarella and ham. So next time I go there I’ll probably have a full Calzone.
I’ve been in this pizzeria about 4 years ago and I didn’t come back because that time the pizza-chef made a dirty comment on me, without knowing I’m Italian and I was understanding everything he was saying. But it was long time ago, he probably doesn’t even work here anymore.
J. C.
Quite honestly the best pizza I've ever eaten. Food was amazing, service was great, the drinks were great. If you haven't been here and love good Italian food I can't recommend it highly enough.
C. J.
I ordered pizza at here for the first time, It was absolutely amazing. I'm happy to order it next time.

If you want to have a piece of Napoli in Darlinghurst Lucio is the way! Authentic pizza made with love, Caprese and Italian beer. That's the Italian way! 🇮🇹🍕
A. T.
This is a tough one for me. Best pizza in Sydney is a very big call. This would have to be equal first in my mind. Everything about it screams authentic with an incredibly delicious taste. Pizza base is classically thin and the dough is stretchy.
S.
I wish I could give 5 stars but I can’t! Food was excellent, we ordered Tartufata pizza (the best), Calzone to share and Tiramisu as desert. Staff was genuinely friendly, we were served quite fast and the 2 waiters serving were fabulous but...and there is a but unfortunately... we saw the waiters, both of them, taking the ice from the ice machine directly to the glasses with their hands, no gloves, no tongs, no washing their hand before nor after. Also we had to ask for the bill 3 times and it took 20 minutes to get it while we were looking at other tables getting their bills. It wasn’t that busy at all. Do I recommend to eat here? YES!!! Absolutely! Just avoid to ask for drinks with ice and be assertive when you ask for the bill! We should have!
p. k.
Take out pizza was fine but asked them to hold off making it to match my timing, but no... so suffered a barely warm meal!😟😬
M. R.
Authentic Neapolitan style pizza.
Best pizza in Sydney, try the Siciliana or 4 formaggi!
The antipasto platter is great too, and so are desserts.
P. S.
Been here a few times and it has always been exceptional, this time wasn’t our best experience, a family with feral kids were nearby and their parents weren’t the disciplinarian type. The polenta chips were nice but a bit dry, the pizza was good but the middle a bit stodgy, the pasta was fine though not a large serve.
J. G.
Never really dine in here before but I do love a wood fire pizza and handmade pasta. Walk pass this place on the weekend and saw them selling various italian takeaway (covid restriction lockdown time) stuffs like handmade pasta, bolognese sauce, Pane Di Casa, Focaccia, Homemade Lasagne, Eggplant Parmigiana & Tiramisu. As I just had lunch I decide to buy their freshly made Tomato & herbs Foccaccia to try back home. Took a small bite to try and I really like the dough texture and bite. So i go back and add mozzarella cheese and truffle salt and shave truffle it and I really enjoy it. From the taste of the foccaccia u can tell that their wood fire pizza and hand made pasta will be good! Will come back for a visit when the restriction ease and dine in is possible to try their italian food. I love the customer service.
K. C.
A very authentic taste of Napoli. Friendly staff and overall a lively place to have some delicious and comfy food.
M. L. P.
The best pizza in the town. The girl who took the order is super friendly. I love the half calzone with Margarita ❤️. It was my birthday and I had a great dinner. Wish they were open for lunch too.
A. S.
Great pizzas in a relaxed outdoor restaurant. You HAVE to try the one with the truffle oil. Yum!
A. T.
Thoroughly recommend Lucio's. We ordered stuffed zucchini flowers, so delicious! Followed by rocket and pear salad, then three pizzas. Service was excellent, a spill mopped up without us having to ask. Best pizza crusts I've tasted.
G. W.
Just wonderful pizzas. Great base that left no feeling of gluten type bloatedness nor heaviness. Deserts were 👅 Loved the ricotta and pear and tiramisu. Wonderful staff too.

Came here on the weekend with a group of friends it was a great atmosphere and plenty of heating to keep us toasty and warm. We had platters to share and of course the famous Neapolitan wood fire pizza with some yummy Italian red wines. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and service was great. You know it's an authentic Italian Pizzeria when Italians eat there too. See you soon!
E. M.
This restaurant has to be one of the most authentic pizzerias in Sydney. Not a single bite of crust was left on the plate because the crust was perfecto! The sauce was tangy and the toppings were fresh and flavourful. The staff were friendly and setting was smart casual, simple and clean outdoor dining. They offer a good range of soft drinks, beer and wines. The prices are reasonable & I look forward to eating here again!
A. M.
Our last dinner for our family trip in Sydney last Sunday. Couldn't have asked for a better pizza and pasta to cap off our trip. Authentic and prompt service. Thanks team.
J. M.
Margherita was good, crisp crust and soft center. the stuffed zucchini flowers were lightly battered and well cooked.
L. J.
Sydney's best pizza. I forgot how good it was. It was good to see Lucio after so long.
D. v. H.
The most delicious food and fantastic service! Lucio was so kind and looked after us so well during our visit. He kindly moved us to a cooler area on the very hot day we were there. It was an authentically Italian experience. Thank you!
T. T.
Great pizza, antipasto and pasta. We got the half calzone and half pizza and we thought that were their signature and it was really good. We finished with carb overload though.
R. W.
One of my favourite pizza restaurants in Sydney, the pizza dough is so light and fluffy and the section of pizzas are vast.
However the only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because the wine wasn’t nice at all. We ordered a bottle of the house red and it was probably the worst tasting wine I’ve every tried, I couldn’t even finish a glass never mind the bottle.
But I guess they are know for their pizza not wine and the pizza is great !
I’m not sure if it’s BYO but if so I’d suggest bringing your own as then you know what your getting, but other than that it’s a great little restaurant.
B. G.
This is my favorite pizza in Sydney , their crust is just delicious and the quality of the ingredients is superb. I’ve only been there once, and it’s definitely best to get it there , fresh out the oven but even their takeaway is 👌👌
N. S.
Great great pizza, much better than when we get out through delivery. The crust was fluffy and light but crispy on the outside and very tasty. Highly recommended
J. Z.
The best Pizza in Sydney, and in my TOP 10 pizzas I have ever tried around the world. I have been there several times. I have been in both locations. The service is good. There is a long waiting list, which implies you have to wait in a nearby pub. That is not an issue given Lucio's pizza is an experience that deserves waiting. You don't like it? Go to Domino's :D
T. B.
This place was great! The food was fresh and authentic, and the staff was pleasant and fun! We commented that the pizza tastes just like Italy. Turns out, the chef is from Naples! Great food, enjoyable atmosphere. I would recommend giving it a try!
J. M.
I know we are bombarded with a lot of Italian pizza places here in Sydney. Some may tastes similar but some are differentiated from the rest. I have lived in Firenze for about a year or so, and Lucio Pizzeria gives me the dead set authenticity of my favourite Pizza place called Gusta Pizza. The Prosciutto and Rucola will always be my favourite. Good thing Lucio exist in Sydney and you wouldn't question how good their pizzas are when you have to line up just to be seated :)
A. P.
Excellent service, fantastic food and great vibes!!!
J. M. G.
I loved this authentic and lovely Italian restaurant in the warm and brightfull Sydney. The waiters are very nice and the food is pretty good. Great variety of pizzas and Italian dishes to taste a little of Italy in Australia. I would repeat once and again. Very recommended
M. D.
Best pizza experience in Sydney😋😋 especially the site in Darlinghurst. The pizzeria itself is not fine dining or posh but the pizza is top. Best pizza I've had in Sydney so far and nice people.😊😉
Zetland presents itself better but every time I go there the pizza is too salty 🤔
S. G.
Absolutely incredible food. Every dish was perfect. The half calzone half pizza special was to die for, the oozing ricotta through the crust was just amazing!
M. C. N.
Pizza is decent but felt they were so cheap on the toppings, they put very little of the ingredients and you're left chewing on the base dough with nothing to go with it… Service is nice but overall we were let down and surprised how this place makes it as one of the best for pizza in Sydney.
M. C.
Easily the best pizza in Sydney. Great service, good value wine.
Don’t bother with the entrees, just have a pizza each. Delicious!
S. C.
Delightful authentic pizza! More toppings than a traditional pizza but makes for the perfect balance.
Good on the staff for keeping us updated on the progress of a table becoming available.
Well worth a visit
P. W.
Really really good pizza and very reasonably priced. Only a few wines on offer but the glass of red I had was good ($10). The service was very quick - we were in and out in an hour and it only took us that long because we had a starter.
Don't sit inside when it's hot outside, you'll melt next to the pizza oven.
C. C.
Very nice casual place, cool staff, the pizza is delicious and the polipetti (baby octopus) is a must try. The only thing I didnt like was the salad, the rocket didnt look so fresh, actually a little bit oxidized. But in general good as well as the prices.
A. G.
Wow the pizza and gnocchi here were delicious!
I'm Italian and I eat gnocchi a lot and know it can be tough to get right, but these guys nailed it!
It was so light and fluffy, truly one of the best!
E. B.
The classic pizzeria where Italians go when they want to eat a great pizza. Great mood and a nice service. The food is not fancy. Real food for real people. And the quality of the ingredients is above many other restaurants. Our way to go for a pizza.
E. C.
Ate here 3 times in 2014 in groups of 3-5.
Ordered mostly different pizzas each time and always shared amongst the group.
Vast majority of pizzas were *excellent*, and none were disappointing.
Considering the quality and portion sizes, this place is good value.
Other things: Gorgonzola salad is an excellent entrée, and the chilli oil is very nice.
P. A.
So we wanted to go to Bar Reggio, unfortunately they couldn't fit us in so we came here instead after finding it on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed Delicious authentic woodfired pizzas and good service. Nice atmosphere too. We will be back again. We really enjoyed our food. Meat ball was great, I don’t know its italian name in their menu, but ask for meatballs and they know it. Calzone was fantastic. A rather salty cheese in it makes it fabulous and lovely ti us Iranians. Enjoyed every bite of it.
A. S.
The best pizza in Sydney. I’ve been visiting it since 2011 and has never been disappointed
A. L.
One of the original pizza go to places in Sydney. A smallish hole in the wall with a great range of pizzas, and they do a good calzone too.
E. R.
Amazingly good pizza and atmosphere, the staff really knows how to put you at ease.
It's gonna be my favourite pizzeria from now on.
Bravi ragazzi, complimenti.
T. M.
100% best pizza in Sydney. Easy. Very traditional basic, though tasty pizzas. Quattro Formaggi is the favourite, My only RECOMMENDATION FOR THE BUSINESS is that online they should specify the ingredients in each of the pizza's for take-away. It saves a LOT OF TIME on the phone and you don't feel like you're hassling the already busy wait staff. Apart from that, phenomenal.
T. S.
We've been trying a lot of pizzeria in Sydney. But this one is amazing ! So we're now going every week some pizza !
People there are so nice by the way.
D. L.
thought I had the best pizza in Melbourne but man this place proved me wrong.
This is officially my favourite !
Definitely a must go place for pizza whenever I am in Sydney. Not forgetting the cosy ambience and friendly service team. :)
A.
The pizza here is as good as it is in Naples!
L. Z.
Had the Lucio, half pizza half calzone. One of the best pizzas I've had. The ingredients are so fresh! And the winner is really the doe, never had anything like it.
If you are looking for something with lots of meat or many different ingredients, this is not for you, but if you are looking for a culinary experience you'll remember for a long time, I highly recommend you give it a try! 012413
A. P.
You want a very good pizza? Go to Lucio, you will not be disappointed. I am Italian, and I think I'd have problems to find such a good pizza even going back home...
Plus, I disagree with who says the service is not good. Contrary to lot of local restaurants here, where at 9.30 sharp they stop serving food and if you show at 9.31, even if they're still open, the best you can get it's a "Sorry, we're not serving food, kitchen is shut", with Lucios I've been welcomed without any problem even half an hour after their closure time.
A place worth going!
K. K.
After hearing about it somewhere that it was one of the best pizza places in Sydney, I wanted to come try it and so I did with my friend. After coming and knowing it was first come first served, we were lucky to get a table after a few minutes. The weather was warm and cool so getting a seat outside was good as there was a soft breeze. The waiter was quite friendly and good at suggesting and explaining what was on the menu.
After looking at the menu, we got the Flori di Zucchini and Lucio, the signature pizza of Lucio Pizzeria. It is half a Margherita and half calzone and when it came, it was great. The taste of the pizza here was unbelievable, much better than anything I have ever tried at that time. I think describing the taste of the pizza is quite hard and so you need to come try it for yourself to see.
This is a great place to go to for their pizzas and as you might have heard or not, it is certainly one of the best pizza places in Sydney. It is similar to Via Napoli Pizzeria (where I went after Lucio Pizzeria) where both are said to make some of the best pizzas in Sydney. I think I need to go to Lucio's again to eat their pizzas, to see if the pizzas are still good.
M. B.
This is a great great pizza place, I tried the "half calzone" and the flavour combination was superb. The meatballs appetiser likewise was delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and quiet, set as it is in a back street on the quieter side of Oxford Street. I can't wait to go back and try some more of the menu.
S.
Finalmente un'autentica pizzeria Italiana! Io e il mio fidanzato siamo andati ieri sera.. Pizza buonissima, tiramisù altrettanto divino! Servizio eccellente.. Mi è sembrato di essere nella mia amata Italia anziché nel centro di Sydney! Complimenti ragazzi!
Finally an authentic Italian pizzeria, with a proper pizza, thin base and thick soft crust! The Tiramisu was to die for. Friendly service and staff. The price was reasonable. Definitely worth the visit! You guys brought a part of my loved country to Sydney! Thanks, keep up the great work!
A. A.
Pizza made with the best ingredients and quality, one of the best in Sydney. You can really taste the difference. Delicious pizza but sometime the wait can be a bit long if it's busy.
N. S.
Great burrata, zucchini flowers & pizza!
C. b. w. Z. l.
Order meatballs and breads as entree, and a pizza. The meatballs take 20 minutes to come and was pretty much room temperature, we sent it back. The pizza come after, which is about 25 minutes, however it was good. Staff didn't even check why we sat for 20 minutes without anything on the table, when we ask they seem to realize that they forgot our order. Disappointed, would not come back.
F. N.
I have tried pizzas in both branches, probably I prefer Zetland branch and even staffs in this branch aren’t nice as well. However in their google information their closing time is 10, we arrived at 9:30 and she told us plz order soon and she pushed us in a very uncomfortable way.
Anyway, we ordered our dishes from limited variation due to late arrival(9:30).
F. R.
Really a very good pizza! I took the siciliana and was great, my friend from Naples took a verdurine and he said it was really good; also pasta with octopus looked and was great!
J. K.
The best pizza I've ever had! Super simple menu but super delicious! Really loved the pizza here 🤙
D. C.
Best Napoli-style D.O.C. pizza ever in Sydney! Use organic, fresh and original ingredients, their food is simply delightful. Staff is nice and fun. Sometimes the time to get a table (no bookings are allowedfor this venue) can be very long. Prices are ok and it is an cosy place to go to with foody friends / dates.
K. J.
Without a doubt the best pizza this side on Napoli. My wife took me here a few years ago and then we went to Da Michele in Napoli and man Lucio Pizzeria is the exact taste of real Italian pizza.
Very well priced. Best pizza you’ll have this year.
E. B.
This is definately the best Pizza in Sydney. Half pizza and half calzone is really nice! Just enough sauce, just enough dough, just enough topping. Place is very small and you can't book. But close enough to a few pubs to drink the waiting time away.
S. B.
Our second trip to Sydney and we had to make Lucio's our first stop for dinner... Simply simple and amazing! The pizza crust is perfection.
B. J.
Amazing pizza and Italian wine served in a pretty little courtyard. Staff are very friendly and will to make suggestions. We will definitely return for the pizza and Sangiovese!
H. B.
Amazing authentic italian pizza, friendly staff and great service, could not recommend it enough. Will be back!
T. R.
Loved this place and more importantly my kids demolished the pizza and pasta!
Perfect place and super friendly staff. Reasonably priced too!
We’ll be back for sure!
M.
We ordered through foodora, the pizzas were really tasty! However we got the Nutella pizza and it was a bit of false advertising. On the photos they have it with strawberries and chocolate chips all over and we got it plain Nutella. If you're going to advertise something at least live up to the expectations.
A. G.
Lucio’s never disappoints! My favourites are the four cheese or the ‘Lucio’s’ half margarita half calzone, super delicious.
I don’t know why I’ve seen complaints about the staff, I’ve been here 10+ times over the last 5 years or so and they’ve always been really friendly.
A. M.
5/5 food - absolutely vibrant, fresh flavours. We loved the chillie sauce.
5/5 service - attentive and friendly
5/5 value - competitive against other traditional pizza places, but arguable better quality
5/5 overall - I would absolutely come back
S. T.
topping for the Lucio pizza was too little
H. T.
We have great memories of this place from our 3 month stay in Sydney. We went back a number of times. They made a wonderful potato slice and rosemary pizza, and have yet to discover its like back home. Worth a special trip.
H. N.
Fantastic Food. The staff have a certain type of attitude that is just not on.... waited 45 minutes after being told it was a 20 minute wait. a little bit of too douche and insincere for my liking. I would give this place 1 star if it wasn't for the perfect pizza.
B. P.
The pizza here is AH-MAZING!!! The staff are lovely and their service is great. The only downside to this pizzeria is the compact space and long wait times for a table (don’t take bookings).
R. E.
Food is delicious, if you’d like proper Italian pizza, that’s the place to go. Guys are very nice and friendly too.
E. V.
Delicious pizza, authentic Italian hospitality and flavours. Definitely recommended, grazie!

Update Feb 2018
Tried Verace in Macq Park, also AVPN certified, which won the World Pizza Championships Australia in 2016 for Marinara (disclaimer: I have not tried their marinara). And I still have to say, I love Lucio's more. They have the best bubbly charred dough and texture.
Verace is also impressive but their dough texture is less crispy because the crust is slightly thicker. The prosciutto Verace uses is also unusual, a much drier, slightly nuttier, version than the usual Parma which is juicy (not quite the right word). It comes down to personal preference really. However, had a horribly disappointing special at Verace with mortadella and burrata - avoid at all costs!! Cost $32 ($5 more than most other options) and the burrata was not runny enough and a bit bland inside, and it was simply a bad match with mortadella on a white base pizza.
Da Mario in Rosebery is on par with Lucio's and beats Verace in my books.
-
AVPN certified for a reason, there are only 3 or 4 in Sydney. Arguably the best woodfired Italian pizza in Sydney and the price is moderate ($20-25 for pizzas). The dough base creates the perfect bubbled, slightly charred crust. The prosciutto used is parma and absolutely heavenly. This is always where I go when woodfired pizza cravings hit!
A. C.
Excellent thin crust pizza. Sauce is just amazing and the chefs are super friendly. If I ever find myself in the neighborhood again, I'll be going back.
T. W.
I love this place! Amazing pizzas and a great outdoor vibe make it a reliable night out every time. Try the Calzone, the Buffalina or the Diavolo pizza followed by a Bomboloni Di Nutella for dessert. Staff are friendly and fast, but it's closed on Tuesdays so watch out for that!
L. L.
Arguably the best pizza in Sydney... The half pizza / calzone is the one to try but the speck & fontina is equally demolishable... Lucio himself is quite personable but the other staff lacked the warmness of their pizza rivals around the city.
P. P.
I know it's Italian, but it's the pizza in Sydney that most reminds me of home (São Paulo, Brazil). Basic setting, but great pizza.
M. G.
Great pizza and tiramisu. If ambiance is improved this would be the best pizza place in Sydney.
E. A.
Tied for best pizza in Sydney (along with Society in Bondi)! Friendly staff but the vibe is a bit too squished, but it was raining and the tables got pushed in and it became a bit crowded.
A. N.
Delicious pizzas and other food are very nice too. This restaurant is small but it has outdoor seats. Service is quick, staff are friendly, prices are ok. It is also a good place for friends and family.
D. M.
Came 5 years later and pizza is still perfect! Grazie ragazzi

Maroud runs front of house and has a personality larger than life. Great hand made wood fired pizzas, great staff and a fabulous location
P. H.
I walked from the Radisson Blu to get an appetite up. Thank goodness the pizza was good Naples fare, and my radicchio salad with Gorgonzola tasty. Unfortunately, it ended there. The wine list is way overpriced.
J. S.
After a lot of adventuring, we have concluded this to be the best (real) pizza in Sydney. Always a nice ambiance, friendly staff and of course, awesome pizza and wine!
D. V.
Had dinner there and it was fantastic! We shared an appetizer and four pizzas, all deliciously Italian style, timely service and competent, friendly staff. Strongly recommended.

The time has come and DOC Pizza did not disappoint. This type of pie is not as suited for takeout but it was still fantastic. Looking forward to when we can sit down and eat it fresh out of the oven.
