Whilst pub crawling on a Sunday, the Steed was one of the busier pubs with a great, buzzing atmosphere. We enjoyed a couple of beers and a half dozen Kilpatrick oysters which were delicious. Friendly service and great afternoon

Shared a friend's birthday lunch on Monday, Anzac Day. We always have a good time, with great service and food. It was a very busy day but owners and staff coped fantastically.

i came to this pub and thought one thing: rich white old people - how awful. However, the staff are actually really really nice and they put on live music, have great outdoor areas and overall was a really nice vibe. Will be my local and hopefully one day i too can also be an old man that is there so often i am like a piece of antique furniture.

Very nice pub to enjoy a delicious Guinness. They have some vegan and vegetarian options. We tried the vegan pumpkin and spinach risotto and it was delicious. Friendly staff and good service. Update:we came back after 6 months and there are new options in their menu, we tried the vegan burger, highly recommended!

Nice place. I quite like it here. But, the council thinks it's a good idea to put parking tickets on cars in the evenings. Watch out for the permit zones. Or be prepared for a $71 fine. 🙁

Can't praise the staff here enough! The handfull of times I've been here each and every person that I've dealt with has been very friendly, helpful and not at all pretentious. Special mention to Emily (?) Who has gone above and beyond any expectations more than once. Food is delicious. Decor etc is modest but clean and comfortable. Price is standard. Love coming here

I've been here two times, once a few years ago and then sometime this month. I was not impressed by the service, it was a busy night but servers ignored my table, I was sitting there for about 30 minutes, and then I had to walk away from my table to order food at the bar. It wasn't this way the last time I came here. The food was alright though.

atmosphere here was okay, aside from the screaming children behind us which we were seated quite close to. the schnitzels were a great serving size but the gravy/sauce was unusually bland, and it was poured over the schnitzel so it kinda made everything taste like nothing? chips were great though. and i adored the affogato. i will try a different sauce next time perhaps.

Great city pub that continues to thrive and survive. Top location at southern end of Hutt st. Dining room and bar are very nicely presented and the meals are very good and reasonably priced. You can usually score a car park nearby. Give it a try.

Fantastic neighborhood pub with a loyal regular crowd. Fantastic schnitzels and oysters and salt and pepper squid and deserts so my kids tell me! Best thing is they own the bottle shop next door and you can never buy a bottle in three bottle shop and pay corkage to drink it in the pub. Smoking area is well away from main outdoor area. Funky booths inside are good for small groups

My friends ordered the schnitzel with gravy (got mushroom sauce but enjoyed it anyway), Salt and pepper calamari with a tiny salad, and buffalo wings (nice and economical). Service was good and friendly with background noise low key, so you could talk to each other.

Went to the Arab steed last Monday for a meal before a show I had lambs fry and bacon best ever my son had sausages and mash very good and our friend had a parmy best one ever. Good service will go again. We recommend it.

Not been here for a long time, so, with A finishing after a late,unforseen visit to St. Andrews I thought it was time that she had a treat for a late tea. Parking outside of the main door I enquired of the bar staff if they where pet friendly in the outside dining area, reply in the positive we sat at an outside table and checked out the menu. We decided on the roast of the day (beef), washed down with a pint of pale for me and a house sauvingnon blanc for her. In next to no time we were served with a slice of sour dough bread with a pat of butter. Our meal arrived and consisted of 4 generous slices of roast beef cooked to perfection vegetables were potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and beans covered in smooth peppery gravy. A very satisfying meal that set us up for our drive home. Normally we don't feed the dog from the table but he was being so good that I broke the rule and he enjoyed his scraps as much as we enjoyed our meal.

My charcoal chicken breast burger with bacon and salad in a brioche roll was excellent, but my wife had the fish and chips, and the batter was served up white and understood. The batter was scraped off, and the dissapointment was offset with a free cappuccino.

I live nearby so I am a frequent patron. I have always found the food servings to be generous and delicious. It's not a fancy schamncy pub so if that's what you want look elsewhere on Hutt st. If you want a pub with great (and usually very fast) service, a warm, friendly atmosphere, realistic prices and options of a spacious dining area or the outdoor tables (smoking and non smoking areas separated) then this is for you. I thoroughly receommend the caesar salad, it is excellent.

Their schnitzels are great beast i have ever tasted. Love the way they crum them too. I've had others elsewhere and i think the place das the . The one thing though i found the beat is that I other pubs you pay extra for vegies and mushroom sauce. There at Arab Steed don't pay extra. You get a nice size schnitzel chips and good vegies with a choice of sause. It's only extra if you get a parma schnitzel but not to much extra. The service is great to. They look after you well. I will be caming back.
