Had dinner here, really nice atmosphere and delicious food. My wife got the grilled chicken breast which she really enjoyed. I had the Beef and Mushroom pie. This was one of the best pies I’ve ever had, so yummy! Would definitely come back.

Had a wonderful lunch with friends. The share platter was fantastic with house made pork pie, pate and relish. All our main meals were excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. A bit dearer than your average pub meal but well worth the cost.

I have been to the British several times this year & have always enjoyed the food. This time I had oregano rubbed chicken breast with spinach, lentils & raddichio. The chicken was moist & flavourful & there was plenty of it. The wine list here is very good & I think the hotel is well worth a visit.

Great place, good environment, great beers and nice staff ☺️ 🤙🍻🥂. Just few minutes away from the center and very close to Melbourne street, you can drink inside or outside, both are really nice and very cool. The food is amazing, specially the schnitzel, good options and also have vegetarian meals 🍄 🥔 🍔. Totally recomended 😊 👌.

Way beyond our expectation. Very decent decor, lovely environment with exceptional service. All of our dishes taste very good with beautiful presentation. Food served in fine dining style so the portion is quite small and the price seems relatively high. With a discount, it will be in good value and worth to revisit again.

A lovely looking pub. Bar and seating areas are cozy and inviting. Rare few pubs without the pokies machines. The unique dining area is set out the back, courtyard all enclosed so stays warm during the cold winter nights. This was one of our favorite drinks meeting spot and the steak was always our favorite if we stayed for a meal. It menu has changed recently and so have prices, but still good tasty hearty meals. All drinks at the bar, but it’s table service for dining area. Split bills accepted. Room for improvement depending on which staff work - we were seated near the abundant restroom on this occasion- door left open yet staff walked past so many times and didn’t think to close the door for comfort of patrons. Wine list needs updating as there were several items not available.

Been here for a few occasions and the food here are really good with a relaxed ambiance. Was here initially with some discount coupons but has been coming back almost every two months. There isn’t a lots of selection on the menu but still the food is well prepared.

Have been to this hotel a few times now and the food is always great! The hotel’s dining room is outside however well protected from the weather but if you get cool easily take a jacket just in case. The bar is inside the old building which still has its heritage features. The service can be slightly hit and miss but you get that a busy and popular places.

Dinner tonight at the British. Amazing, amazing service. Food wonderful. Mentioned Blue Swimmer Crab Spaghetti had a little too much garlic for my taste, even though it was very tasteful. Highly recommended! The sirloin steak I ordered was cooked to absolute perfection and the roast potatoes were fabulous! Only downside and thing stopping it from being a perfect 10 out of 10 would be the lack of additional vegetables/ greens, which you shouldn’t have to order with the meal separately. Damn good otherwise, will be back again soon, cheers!

A little off the beaten track sits this handsome ‘little’ pub waiting for those in the know (or lost) to step inside. The size is deceiving - with the outside frontage suggesting quaint cozy pub while inside it is cavernous. This is a foodies pub so don’t be shy ordering up some good honest pub food with an icy cold ale and finding that contentment that only a good pub can deliver.

It is definitely the best restaurant for families in Adelaide. Beautiful environment, great service, and tasty food. I lived on Melbourne Street in the 80s and it was a great student pub in those days. Not a student pub any more, but still a great pub. Good food if you like meat. A bit pricey and really does need to include some salads as mains on the menu. Comprehensive of beers.

I have visited the British Hotel a couple of times in the last week, and what a hidden little gem. The new owner has completely turned this place around, now with some unbelievable staff that are very attentive. The vibe in the outdoor area is so nice and relaxing and great for if your wanting to share some of their smaller items from the menu or get a nice big feed. If you haven't already, do yourself a favour and support your SA Owned pubs.

Not your average pub. The British has a charm of it's own with the atmosphere maintaining it's history. Our party of 4 chose to dine here on a bleak Winters day the dining area was comfortable. Service was excellent and we felt welcome. We chose the Tapas starters to share and enjoyed it although just know if you don't prefer things a little spicy you may want something else. We loved it. A combination of much of what was on offer on the menu and would gladly repeat the choice. Mains were Scotch fillet from the grill, salt and pepper squid and beef guinness pie. The beef was cooked as ordered, medium rare and served with chat potatoes (did find the potatoes a bit cold so could have been warmer) and served with a mushroom Jus Salads and vegetables are an added extra so don't overlook them. The wine list is reasonably extensive and are at restaurant prices so don't expect them for bottle shop value. Enjoyed the day and would gladly return

With their redesign, they've bucked the latest irritating trend towards concrete sound-reflective surfaces, and instead have wooden tables, sound absorbing wall coverings, and space between tables. So comfortable. It's a delight to eat there.

I shared the pork and the duck with my partner and I absolutely loved the pork it was cooked perfectly and the apple and herb slaw was great with it. The duck was good too if I was being picky it was a little over cooked and the red wine sauce was a little heavy for the delicate duck but I would happily eat it all.

Went here with my partner, absolutely loved all the food We had British Tapas Plate for Two entree with and the Tea Smoked Duck Breast and the special of the day for dinner. As we loved it so much we asked for desert and loved it even more. Only one minor issue and that was with a request for extra bread, after 10 mins while we waited and asked another waitress and they then promptly got it us some so in my opinion it slipped their minds somehow and was sorted fast after. My partner and I have already talked about going back.

Acoustics in the dining room: 1.5 stars - terrible. The front bar still has a bit of the character it had years ago, but the place has generally gone the way of the wanna-be retaurant. If you look past their dingy front pub and head towards the beer garden, you will find a pleasantly open outdoor dining area. A few craft beers on tap is always a welcome at any pub. I had the best kangaroo steak in my life at the British. With that been said, the quality of the steak does vary from chef to chef.
