Met up with some friends for a couple of drinks and social catch up. Great location for it as it was central to the CBD area and had both indoor and outdoor seating. We actually took advantage of both given the weather was interchangeable whilst we enjoyed our drinks. The only let down about this location was that we were there on a Friday and there was no lunch menu available - we were advised no kitchen til 6pm. Therefore if you are looking for lunch this place might not be the option for you.

Schnitzel was well cooked and crunchy. The nachos are vegetarian and comes in a vegan version. There was not much sauce on the nachos and the beans were all at the bottom. Outside area nice a warm with big heaters even in winter.

For me this place is full of great memories of playing pool and having so much fun in my late teens to early 20s now 20 years on it's still as iconic and a big part of hurt street great place to have a cold one and talk with old friends love that it is still going strong!

This is the sort of place you go when you get absolutely magotted. Full of alternative types, local beer, young girls with nose piercings and tattoo sleeves, and grandpas. The walls are plastered with posters of bands you've never heard of and maybe would want to see, there's a fireplace in winter and an ancient pockmarked dartboard, the bathrooms are slick with urine and colourful graffiti demanding revolutions and offering up visions of a better world, or sometimes just asking for fun. You'll either love the place, or you'll hate it

A historic pub that can be enjoyed at any time, wether it's on a pub crawl with mates on a big night out or for a quiet beer or two with your closest before heading home. Still thriving to this day after many years, I recommend it to anyone, especially to those who are looking at visiting our beautiful state that enjoys a cold beer or glass of wine from their large selection at any occasion. Like others in this chain, the Exeter is a great family pub. There’s a playground and some games for the kids. Particularly enjoy the ‘claw’ game, where you can win small chocolates. The food is always at high standard. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The full range beers on tap and you can also catch some sport if you’re lucky. Become a monty member and a VIP. You can then enjoy all the other pubs in this chain. 5 stars - just keep it up 👍

Front bar's brilliant. In winter they've got a wood fire burning for pyromaniacs like me. That fire's good, makes it toasty inside. And on warm days it's good out the front and side. For a long time Dan O'Connell's in North Adelaide was in only other place that did a wood fire in winter and I reckon they effectively disappeared. So the Exeter could be the last place in the CBD doing an actual fire at which you can warm your hands.

Loved it. Went to visit a friend in the band on Friday night. Took ear plugs of course as band was loud. Brilliant atmosphere. Beer very cold as it should be. Lovely kind staff. Free entry. Spent three hrs there. Something different but enjoyable. Next time have a meal there as next door was a terrible warm yiros and warm soft drink not mentioning the name of the shop.

This is our favourite pub in the whole of Adelaide! We had our wedding on the balcony on the 19th January 2018, and it was absolutely perfect, despite the 42 degree heat! It's a wonderful venue, great views, old school charm, and the management and staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and attentive, and they helped to make our wedding day all we hoped for and more. Massive thanks to all, especially to Dan, Peter and Ruby who looked after us so well.

It's a pub in the most classic sense of the word. Sticky floors, filthy bathrooms, but a place you'll go back to over and over again. It hasn't fallen sway to the trend of making everything shiny and overpriced, and manages to keep it's authenticity. Great food when they serve it, great selection of drinks, and bands every weekend

Hip and grungy. The Universities are nearby. Some excellent restaurants serving a broad range of styles and budgets. Good cinema nearby. Food at the Ex is classic Aussie pub, and good for that. Décore is also classic Aussie pub. Somehow bands manage to fit in there on some nights. And they serve the classic South Australian Coopers beers.

Went to the Exeter every thursday through to saturday in the 90's - a great pub and fantastic food - you would be eating sitting next to some bohemians on one table and a QC and friends on the next. The publican once told me if anyone was being homophobic, racist or sexist to let him know and he'd throw them out - and he did. And its still just as good 25 years later when I visited.

I want to say a huge thankyou to the staff at the Exeter last Saturday, 16th December. We are a large family group with many grandchildren, and the wonderful girls were marvelous with the kids as well as the adults. Food was great, served quickly, even though very busy.
