This was the second time we've had dinner here and both times the meals were very nice. I love the touches of native foods that they add to their dishes.
J. S.
Amazing atmosphere. Great food. Had the Chef feed me experience. Wine was a bit pricey but overall a great night.
M.
A great dining experience. Waiters were the right amount of attentive. Serving size is larger than expected and the food quality is appropriate for the price.

My husband and I always come here for special occasions especially for the kangaroo dish. Unfortunately the last few times haven’t been the best experience with the food. We dined here last night for our anniversary and I was excited to see the kangaroo back on the menu . Unfortunately my kangaroo was over cooked . I asked for rare as it should be and I got medium to well done . I couldn’t eat the well done part . My dessert come out and as I was eating it I ate some of the baking paper left on the mousse cake . I did say something to the waitress after I showed her and she did apologise. Not sure if she let the chef know .. When you go out and spend $195 at a restaurant you do expect to get quality food so its rather disappointing when it doesn’t meet your expectations.. We probably won’t be back again which is disappointing because it was always my favourite place to have dinner . I can never fault the wait staff though always friendly and prompt with table serves ..

It’s almost Valentines Day!! This place is a must!!! Amazing place to wine and dine. The FOV is fantastic!! Loved this place. Will come back again!! Offers fabulous seasonal Modern Australian clean cuisine. The best in Adelaide overlooking the Torrens River at night time. Romantic feel to the evening 🙌👌💕❣️

Steak was not cooked to the asked for doneness, quality of steak was not great either, atmosphere was really nice with friendly staff but the quality of food was a bit disappointing
S. H.
Mixed feelings about this fine dining venue. The place is beautiful and view spectacular. 1/2 the meals were delightful, the other 1/2 below average. The staff did their job, but not to a fine dining standard. The coffees were poor. I would love to feel more atmosphere.
W. F.
We went with the 5 course "Feed Me Experience". The food was delicious with a variety on offer. There was a bit of theatrics when they brought out the coal burner and we cooked our own kangaroo and sirloin. The dishes were full size as well and not cut-down versions. Overall, a great experience, especially with the 50% off deal. Make sure you a hungry I'd you try this!
The night lights and view also made for a romantic night.
Couple of small cons - the kangaroo and sirloin were slightly too salty; wish they were more explanatory of the dishes (as we didn't order the dishes)

This place is perfect for special occasion with good view over the river. I’ve heard that the sunset over here is magical, but my booking was after sunset, maybe I’ll come back next time with earlier timing. The food was great, esp the bread and the entrees was really exceptional. The mains were great as well but what really highlighted were the entrees. Very good selection of wine list too. The service and the attention were really good as well, the waiter will drop by every now and then to check if you need anything and if everything is ok. The atmosphere was a bit noisy as there’s so much chatting and laughing going around. So it may not be so ideal for business dinner if you wanna discuss something really serious but if you’re looking to please some important guests, this place will not fail you. Did I forget to mention their slow cooked lamb? It’s so flavourful and melt in your mouth, it gave us the wow effect when we put a bite into our mouth. Really really awesome!
N. C.
Amazing service by Indy. Highly recommended, she walked us through the menu. Ordered oysters two ways both raw and fried. Then the kangaroo steak and crocodile tempura. Great view as well while having dinner.
A. N.
Dined here for the first time tonight and I was quite impressed with the food and service.
The interior of the restaurant feels a bit dated and in need of an upgrade or makeover. However, the restaurant being on the first floor of the building (above the River Cafe) means that it still has a cracking view of the Torrens and surrounds.
They offered bread and butter for $9.50 but my god, that sourdough and balsamic vinegar was delightful. The soufflé was a nice entree. Moved onto the scotch fillet for a main off the grill and was not disappointed.
Bonus: in the entertainment book
J. X. L.
One of Adelaide's famous place for dishes with native ingredients. Kangaroo, Crocodile and Emu are must tries. There are also other dishes with native plantation used. Lots of Asian customers at this venue and the sight at night is beautiful, being floating on River Torrens.
N. K.
The location of the restaurant is perfect, great atmosphere with a great view. However, the venue may need a little renovation. As the bathroom didn't seem at standard, as we were booked at opening, the bathroom floor had toilet paper on the ground and water leaking on the floor that would need some attention too. All the staff were friendly, professional and assisted with anything needed. Just some tiny constructive feedback with maybe organisational part needs improvement. Example have one waiter/s only focusing on a few tables. As various different workers came to us asking how the food was three times for the same meal. Maybe only ask once picking up the plates as a suggestion :). When going to a restaurant paying $80 for a 3 course meal , we expect dishes to be better then the average. I would definitely say the main was average but nothing special, kinda a let down. However , on a great note loved my entree which had great inspiration for indigenous foods where as partner thought his was average for his octopus entree . The pavlova dessert was definitely exceptional unique, tasty and creative. It was definitely being equal or even better in my opinion comparing it to 2 Hatted Bennelong , Sydney restaurant Pavlova dessert. Overall, it was a lovely dinner experience !
W. N.
Venue is very nice, view is great and food is tasty (albeit expensive but you’d guess that before going in, given the location and exotic range of meals and wines). Steak was cooked very well and service staff were great, parking easy too.
D. M.
A delicious experience of modern Australian cuisine. Native and typical proteins flavoured with the tastes of Australia. Attentive service in a relaxed and warm environment. Make a booking for dinner and make sure you order a dessert
C. I.
A quieter night but good service and a range of culinary delights with a native flair. We were seated next to the window with a lovely view of the water. Good recommendations from the waiter. We had emu, kangaroo, barramundi and crocodile. The snacks made great appertizers...mussels, kangaroo prosciutto and beef brisket croquettes. For entrees The salt and pepper croc was awesome, the emu was nice too. Mains we had kangaroo and the fish very generous serve of roo.
L. H.
Great food, lovely setting. Staff a bit surly. (For instance complained about how close the tables and chairs were set near a window as if it was their guest's fault).
There was also a $10 surcharge for each guest more than 10 in the group.
B. O.
Beautiful scene, excellent service, delicious food!I will say Red Ochre Grill is the top best 5 fine dining restaurants in Adelaide ! Highly recommend and for sure I will come back again and again.
C. J.
Four stars for unique menu and excellent food quality. However, it's quite a distinct palate. You either like it or you don't. Food looked better than it tasted. Good for novelty value for a one off, but I wouldn't go back. Service very slow.
R. K.
The meals won’t change your life, but the service is A+ and the surroundings are magic! They use a lot of unique australian foods to make the dishes and so if you’ve ever wondered what emu and crocodile taste like then this place is for you! The kkds meals for $25 maybe seemed a bit steep (choice of pasta, steak, barramundi) but they loved it and polished off the pasta no worries
D. C.
Beautiful venue with a fantastic view onto the river. Food was nice (although dessert was too sweet), and the service was good.
S. A.
Beautiful view. Romantic dinner for 2.
I love the cocktail very well blend mixture. Choose fix menu $75pp food only and it does fill you up. Was too full to finish the desert. Everything was good I gave 3 star because my main beef fillet very dry on the side and doesn't have lot of sauce on the beef. Not alot option to choose from menu. They didnt put effect on the beef plate. Food at river cafe down stair is better. Overall I recommended this place for those who don't want to pay more then $75 pp
C. P.
The setting, lighting and presentation of food was great. The execution of the food not so. The waiting staff, although very friendly, appeared overwhelmed and focused more on getting dishes out rather than drink service and couldn't answer questions about dishes.
Feed me menu, actually thought the waiter said we got served scallops and brisket, but from the menu perhaps it was crocodile and kangaroo?? And the barramundi, while good, was served skin side up but no crisp at all (nor to pork belly). Mousse with a marshmallow top? Not sure. Portions are very large, excessive even for the price. All in all it was a bit of an odd experience, not saying it was horrible but certainly has changed.
W. B.
New years eve dinner was a huge success! We may have done with an extra course but the quality of the food served was top class. A wonderful experience and the best views for the fireworks! We certainly recommend and even for dinner during the year, this is a great place for Australian cuisine.
a. H.
Great food. Had breakfast a couple of times. Need a quick breakfast before a tour, delivered and eaten in time ! Lovely staff, good pizzas, menu has a great offering.
c. e.
Really recommend this place. Great food and an amazing view of the Adelaide skyline. Why have I never visited this wonderful restaurant before????
B. K.
U must try chefs choice, 5 course ($81pp)&2much food-but so lovely &fresh&just cooked perfectly...go again!!!
S. G.
Great food with native Australian flavours.
Chocolate Decidance is amazing.
However service can be rather slow.
A. B. A.
Excellent place for an exquisite dinner away from the crowds. Good food, attentive service crew and a very satisfying dining experience.
T. i.
Wonderful kangaroo meet and kangaroo tail ... superbbb .... we actually did not make reservation, was fully booked. However, the staff down stair at river cafe accommodated us and give us seat and serve us. Thank you !
A. B.
The food and service is excellent and really couldn’t be faulted.... compliments to the chef/s & staff! The only disappointing thing and the reason it didn’t receive 5 stars is because the state of the external building is terrible. I last visited over 20 years ago and it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or updated since. You can’t NOT have a 1st impression and for new customers including interstate visitors, it’s not a good one. As a minimum pressure wash the building & clean up the waterfall....the owner of the building should be ashamed of themselves and Red Ochre need to scrub the balcony so the dirty ground & rails are not viewed from the tables
C. N.
Had a very nice dinner. The steak was great. Very fresh and perfectly cooked. Restaurant seemed very quiet for a Friday nite. Couldn’t fault the food or the atmosphere.
g. w.
Nice location. But just average food. Service is fine.
D. E.
The flavours of the food were amaaazing! The service was great, they cater very well to dietary restrictions even when it is difficult to do so, I cant wait to go back! Such a wonderful experience...
I. W.
The food was lovely. The Crocodile in particular was excellent. The service was great too. However the music that the staff started playing two thirds through our meal was utterly atrocious. It was the sort of music that only belongs in a gym.
It’s possible that the staff wanted the diners remaining in the restaurant to leave so that they could pack up and leave. They certainly achieved their goal. By 9:30pm the restaurant was empty. This is a shame. We were quite willing to spend more money here. However the music of choice ruined our experience and forced us to leave.
C. J.
Food was amazing. First class service. 10 out of 10
m.
Great food and venue.. Not recommend to eat there on a hot day.. Airconditioner barely working..ceiling fans would be helpful to circulate the air.
L. C.
AMAZING service! Above and beyond!
Went to an event here with predetermined canapés chosen by the third party host. Due to food allergies I couldn’t have the canapés chosen. The wait staff went above and beyond and brought me a separate plate with some canapés that I could eat. They did not have to, but they did anyway and it made my night! Thank you so much! We will be back!
A. E.
Although disappointed that we were away from the main dining area due to being part of a group booking, we had a wonderful experience. Asking to amend a dish due to an egg allergy, the staff looked after me beautifully. I had my own entree (as opposed to the group share option) and my own special dessert. I didn't ask for any of that, they just did it. It was really appreciated and all food was delicious. We will be back to hopefully get that river view!

We went there for my mum's birthday and had a 40%off discount deal. My parents were happy with their orders, however my husband had myself thought the entrees were very ordinary. We ordered crocodile tempura with was more like deep fried crocodile. The butter was not light and was little oily. The other one was a octopus dish and it was tough.
The mains were ok expect the steak was quite ordinary. It definitely didn't taste like a $49 steak ( scotch fillet), it was more like a homemade steak. Over all we are grateful that we got the discount deal otherwise we won't be satisfied with the quality of the food considering this is a fine dinning restaurant.
B. H.
The red ochre is a sensational place to have a meal. The food was excellent and the staff were warm and friendly and eager to please. The view is one of a kind just like this place. Will be back for sure.
R. G.
Fantastic delicious food, friendly and helpful staff
B. G.
Great food, Service needs a lift..... The view and the food are amazing. A slant towards native food and it's all fantastic. A comprehensive wine list at a reasonable price range. The service needs attention. Not that they were terrible
but the staff were not proactive on the drinks side. Overall well worth trying.
Q. C.
Good place for anniversary.
S. N.
Fantastic food and location. The taking plate was a small but delicious starter for two. I had the quail with risotto and really enjoyed it. The Toblerone dessert was great to sip on as it's quite alcoholic and the wattle pavlova is a great choice too. Minus one star for having to refill my own glass three times during the night.
J. S.
Good food and wine; great outlook and ambiance. Service friendly.
T. D.
Delicious food all tho in house menu differed from online menu, super helpful friendly staff, portion size was good, didnt look like there was alot but was so full by the end of the 3 courses. We did have to move seats due to the roof leaking in the rain but this didnt effect the night much at all due to friendly service
S. B.
A very Australian resturant. Lovely position. Nice food
D.
As always, the food was amazing - brilliant dishes inspired with unique flavours and ingredients. A perfect venue to dine with international or interstate guests, allowing them to sample some of the best modern Australian cuisine.
Unfortunately the service during our last visit was not up to the usual standard. When the first couple in our party arrived, the waitress casually waved them off towards their table instead of formally seating them. The young gentleman who brought over our first bottle of wine didn't open it for us, and leaned over in front of seated guests to serve aperitifs instead of walking around.
In saying that, our table waiter was very attentive, professional and accommodating, and the FoH Manager was, as always, perfectly on point. A fine evening was had by all, as our guests were suitably impressed with the location, decor and food. We are looking forward to our next visit.
D. H.
Really really good! The starters/entrees we're my favourite. Pork bao and the Kangaroo gyoza were delicious. Friendly and prompt service. Dining room is looking a wee bit tired. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
P. P.
Kangaroo is my long term favourite from the menu. The view on the river is nice and relaxing.
S. K.
Amazing tuna entree. I wish it was a main. I could have easily had two servings. The barramundi was nice but it really needed a sauce or something to cut through it as it came off feeling a little dry. I just didn't think the tomatoes that was on top helped. Bread was ok. A bit too sweet for me.
Service outstanding. They were very accommodating to our requests.
J. L.
Nice service and food was ok with Good selection of food and drinks.
J. T.
We attended red ochre last night for dinner, we had an extremely plesent dining experience. The food was exceptional and the venue itself was equally as impressive with wonderful views of the city and river torrens. I would highly recommend it for a great dinner.
A.
Nice view and atmosphere, good food.
C. B.
Nice atmosphere, helpful staff. Festival of food voucher is an absolute steak so make the most of it. The pork was very nice just not a full meal. I couldn't recommend beef cheek pie highly enough to do it justice. The Roo and pasta are also very tasty and filling.
M. M.
5 Stars for Service, Quality /Presentation of Food and Atmosphere. Pricey but not for what you get in return.
Glass exterior surrounds allowing scenic views of the River. A Menu offering everything from Seafood to Emu and Crocodile and much more. Exquisitely presented, it looks like Food Art - what comes out on the Plate is certainly worthy of a Photo. This Food is made and served with Love and care........not slapped on a Plate mass produced.
Using beautiful aussie Native ingredients to compliment each Dish - the Menu has your Tastebuds tingling. I had a problem choosing and I'm fussy. Attentive, Friendly Staff and talented Chefs - this Place is special. We'll be back.
L. L.
Good environment. Like the second bread, but oyster not fresh enough, salmon entree was the best one highly recommended, good steak and barramundi as main course. Overall, wonderful experience.
K. T. B. H. S.
My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary/ my birthday, the food was absolutly amazing, we grabbed ourselves the feed me option and the food was insane, the Chef's did an amazing job and the staff where really friendly, would give more stars if I could. Keep up the awesome work guys.
N. M.
The view is great, there can be no doubt. But for the prices, the food and service are disappointing. Emu was bland, brisket was mushy. Host couldn't remember the one special, waitress barely talked to us, and we had to chase down the cheque. Go for lunch once for the view and to try some interesting Australian fare, but don't expect to be wowed for the price.
T. S.
Fine dining and the best place to taste and try Australian game animals like crocodile and emu. Kangaroo is cooked perfect and if you option for steak that's perfect too. Good place to grab a drink on the deck overlooking the Torrens and city. Dining room gives great view of city lights as it goes from dusk to dark. Expensive but you get a great experience.
M. F.
Wow! The food here was excellent! Try the tasting plate for entree... a range of Australian delicacies cooked in exciting ways (think kangaroo tails in broth). The service is impeccable too.
R. d. l. C.
Food is good. Ambiance is amazing! Service was ok, waiters were friendly but sometimes inattentive. The biggest let down was the fact that the waiters did not explain the food. I think this is one of the most important mark of a good restaurant and it was missing.
G. L.
Great location to escape the city centre. Very romantic if you come at sunset. The food is delicious. You can also get a gondola ride from here if you feel super romantic.
V. K.
Special celebration last weekend. Food was nice but .... Floor manager asked us what we thought of our meal, we informed him we did not like the pavlova which didn't go down well with me , saying it's been on the menu for 25 years, told the waitress to eat it and could not get away from us quick enough. Rude. He needs to take the good with the bad.
S. S.
Good location but river's water not clean.
Z. H.
Delicious modern Australian dishes with interesting flavours and a beautiful view of Adelaide and the Torrens. Service was underwhelming to begin with, but improved as the night went on. Quite expensive, however the food is good enough to not be at all upset when the bill comes. Overall a good experience.
L. M.
One of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide for a romantic dinner date or special occasion. The service, the food, the wine selection is impeccable, the view of The Torrens at sunset is beautiful and would be a perfect spot to propose to your beloved. I've been blessed to witness a romantic proposal there myself and the happy couple then had a romantic gondola ride after. Hint hint to my partner. Hint hint.
R. C.
Food was ok but not outstanding. Service was ordinary. Seemed understaffed and those waiting staff on duty were inexperienced. Also, the website was not up to date with regard to the pricing of drinks eg. a bottle of sparkling wine listed as $42 was actually $58 on the night we were there.
J. N.
Exceptional quality and culinary experience
C. K.
Beautiful scenery. Most of the food was delicious though one of the steaks was gristley. Unfortunately service was dreadful. Slow and disinterested. Couldn't even find someone to pay the bill!!! Very disappointing.
R. C.
We had the Feed Me option. The food was amazing, generous portion sizes and well spaced so we could fit the 5 courses in. The best meal I've had in a long time. Can't wait to go back.
N. V.
Stunning food really nice view and super staff
R. C.
Prefect night out with 30 friends. Happy friendly staff made us welcome. The food simple amazing full of flavor .. beautiful present ...10 out of 10 ... atmosphere...couldn't ask for a better night ..highly recommend.. hidden gem
J. K.
The groups menu was absolutely marvellous. Wonderful wine list and great service
A. R.
Beautiful views of the city and river. The red duck curry and crispy skin pork belly are just delicious. This chef certainly gets southeast Asian flavours. Thumbs up!!!
S. W.
Had a fantastic dinner here last Saturday night. The brisket melted in your mouth, and my wife's barramundi was devine. The little extras that the staff did, made our wedding anniversary a very memorable one. Thanks again
D. R.
Food was delicious view fantastic ambience greet but unfortunately the service time was poor due to a function which put staff under pressure had to ask on several occasions for wine drinks and dessert but would go again
D. C.
Very average should train staff to be more on the case 2 course $60.00 should not have mix ups Still have not got my entree yet when question about it was offered free coffee not good ,young waitress trying hard to please
S. M.
Exceptionally delicious and always unique dishes. There's no better place to bring international guests to showcase what true Australian fine dining can offer. Never disappointing.
L. R.
Delicious food with an awesome view and great service. We had a delightful evening. A place to take out of town visitors to see Adelaide cityscape from a new perspective.
M. C.
Delicious food, and scenic setting, but a little over priced for fairly basic dishes. Service was friendly and prompt. Would go back again, but not in a hurry.
C. K.
The food/ menu was quality, fresh and new. Service was fantastic and the view of the Torrens was tranquil. Had the the chef choice for two and was not disappointed, very satisfied :)
A. W.
I came here with workmates and absolutely love it. The food and service was amazing. The view was great too. A great place to bring visitors and friends to.
J. H.
Food was great but I feel like it is over priced for the quality of service that comes with it. It seemed their staff were inexperienced for the type of restaurant thst was being presented.
A.
Christmas lunch was excellent with great food excellent service and good wine. We booked for New Year's Eve and we're looking forward to it.
S. M.
My wife & i favourite place for a steak. Great service too.
Windows required a wash/spruce up to really take in the great views
D. S.
This is a lovely restaurant in a beautiful setting. The Australia food they prepare has very unique tastes. I personally think it is overpriced.
K. T.
Service great especially Rob one of our waiters and food was amazing

(Translated) The environment is unique, the service is warm and considerate, and the lamb chops are good. The duck is worth tasting, the bread is average but the olives are characteristic.
