Comments of Sôl Rooftop Bar

Love this restaurant. Great decor, friendly and attentive staff and a fantastic menu of locally sourced SA produce...even the wine list is predominantly SA based divided up into the major wine areas.
We dined ala carte and shared the dishes.
My favourite was the 'crab meat crumpet' while my partner felt the marshmallow dessert was the highlight. All the dishes were wonderfully presented and delicious.
Booking essential as the venue was full on Friday night.

Dined here quite a few times whilst staying in the Eos Hotel and have no complaints. The dinners and breakfasts I feasted on were cooked to perfection and were pleasing to look at. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and professional. They made my wife and I feel like we were more than just customers. The restaurant looked and felt modern and had good views of Adelaide. Price wise, it wasn't overly expensive but cost is a subjective concept so some might have a different opinion. Overall, I'd happily return for another dining experience at this plush venue.

Food was great, This in fine dining, but the waitress just walked up and filled the water glasses, splashing water out of almost every glass, mine she got more on the talk than in the glass, saw what she did and just walked away. When asked if she could wipe the table she clean up about half the puddle with one of their napkins while saying they don’t let us use cloths. So I sat eating my lunch in half a puddle. A lot of room for improvement. The prices suggest better service.

The restaurant is opened only a month back and the interior alone makes you feel exclusive. We dined in just after sunset but if you could get a reservation just before sunset you could enjoy a spectacular sunset dining experience.
Staff were so friendly with excellent customer service. The food was delicious but not wow! We had a seven course meal and we felt not all courses were equally exceptional but they were good.
A few highlights of the food were:
1. The sunshine butter that accompanied the sourdough was so creamy
2. Oyster mushrooms were something to die for
3. Squid in a avocado mousse was just out of this world
4. Slow grilled eggplant in charcoal baba ganous was the winner!

A newly opened restaurant with stunning views and we got there just before sunset which was a treat. Servers were friendly and switched on in regards to filling water, minding the courses as they came out and to order drinks. The food itself was okay, for the price you pay ( we took the 4 courses for $110) the presentation was lacking and I can see they were going for the rustic look, but nothing about the place was rustic, perhaps a mismatch? Portion wise, perhaps could do with a little more. The sourdough bread crust almost took our teeth out 😅 but the butter was delicious!! The cocktails and mock tails were okay and once again, presentation lacked luster. Let’s talk about the dessert, charming concept, however the flavours were a little odd. Definitely a talking point :) Probably not somewhere I’d rush back to again for meals but will visit to enjoy their rooftop bar.

Absolutely awesome venue for dinner and drinks with groups of friends or romantic dinner for two❤️. Thank you for a fantastic evening. Great food and drinks selections.... lastly the super awesome cityscape views. Loved it🙌😘. Will be back again definitely xx

We have been a few times now even just to have a cocktail to start the night. Love the atmosphere up on the rooftop bar.
Great area to have a delicious cocktail and look over Adelaide.
Be aware gets really busy and cocktails can take a while. They have table service though so can sit back relax whilst you wait.

Hubz and I had a 3 course lunch and it was absolutely delish! Fresh, tasty, great value for your buck and the staff were very friendly and informative! Awesome views and an experience that exceeded our expectations! Well done Sol!
J. T.
Awesome spot for a drink with fantastic views. Desserts were also delicious.

Probably one of the best views of a city I’ve ever seen. Amazing place and worth a look if in Adelaide. As expected, prices are a tad stupid and this place attracts a lot of millennials which is fine, but not my cuppa tea.

Dinner at @solrooftop: excellent food and service! We had the 7 course dinner, and I have to say that it is worthwhile staying longer to have it rather than the 4 course. All the dishes were very creative and super tasty. Some were a bit unusual, but still very enjoyable.
.
Mussels: on an edible shell - very creative and tasty 🤤.
.
Sourdough bread: good bread with delicious butter!
.
Chicken liver parfait: this was really good! Flavours were like a party in your mouth. Loved these snacks!
.
Sardines with asparagus: the sardines were good, not too strong with the fish taste. Worked very well with the asparagus 🤤.
.
Summer garden lollies: strawberry, bread soaked in tomato oil - this was an unusual but interesting dish. The ingredients are not what your would normally have together, but I think it worked quite well. The combination of the sweetness of the strawberries and the tanginess of the tomato worked well.
.
Oyster mushrooms: salt and pepper tempura, hay yoghurt, and a dusting of hay. This was one of our favourite dishes! We always love mushrooms, and these were so tasty! It was lightly fried with tempura batter - not heavy or oily at all. Good presentation as well, but the hay does get a little bit messy 😅😅.
.
Butter poached king prawn, fermented fennel, prawn head and tail crumbs. Super yummy prawns! Cooked perfectly. Great flavours.
.
Squid with its ink, kohralbi, inked avocado, lemongrass. This was an interesting dish. The squid was really nicely done, and the inked avocado was creative. But sure how I feel about the lemongrass though.
.
Pork belly, asparagus, blackened eggplant, shaved egg yolk: we loved this dish! Definitely one of the favourites. The pork belly was super tender, and the flavours from the eggplant and shaved egg yolk were amazing 😍.
.
Lamb backstrap (chargrilled), multiple preparations of carrots (puree, pickled), labneh: the lamb was very nicely chargrilled. It had a tasty smokey flavour. The different kinds of carrots were very creative. Perfect!
.
Concrete jungle: meringue, frozen lemon curd, apple: this dessert dish was so creative!! We loved the tanginess of the lemon curd and the sweetness of the meringue 🤤🤤😍😍. Amazing!

Great food and presentation. Little expensive but that to be expected.
A.
Simply perfect. You just need to experience it for yourself.
This review experience is based on our visit in December.
T. B.
An amazing view combined with an endless drinks menu. Good times for all!

Wow. Great place from staff to decor to food philosophy and the food that actually delivered the vision
W. “.
Contemporary restaurant on the corner of Sky City with amazing views of the north terrace and the torrens. Proudly serving the best of local food and drink , which as South Australians know is pretty good !!

Excellent venue, So-So Food
Came here to celebrate our anniversary and the venue looked promising with spectacular views and spot on music as well as ambience.
The four course degustation menu (they didn’t have a-la-carte) started with delicious sourdough bread and home-made butter followed by a few ‘snacks’, traditionally known as ‘appetisers’.
First course could have been better; deep fried spring onions & whipped avocado didn’t do much for the squid and its ink.
Second course was tempura oyster mushrooms which were not great, a bit too oily. Hay dust was not pleasant to eat.
A rather small third course of lamb was served with an excellent carrot side but a very poor glaze. {I recommend a larger serve of carrot and a more ‘standard’ red wine jus.}
Desert was essentially thick lemon curd covered in deconstructed meringue dusted with freeze dried mint leaves garnished with green apple.
I must mention that the food was very well presented and the service was excellent. We were well looked after by our server - Neha who did a great job of remembering our drink preferences.
We were offered a table on the balcony to enjoy the sunset and have drinks after we’d finished our dinners. We were sent home with a gorgeous little box containing a dessert which was better than the dessert served during dinner in both looks and taste. This didn’t seem to be standard though.
I believe that good service & ambience can make up where food falls short but not the other way round hence I’ve given them 4 stars. Overall I think this place could do well with an improved menu.

The views and set is is exceptional.
Really nice bar as well.
The service however was pretty average.
K. S.
Chloe was more than welcoming to our group, made our day just a little bit more special.
B. M.
The staff were amazing. Food was phenomenal .. Wine was perfect. Couldn't have had a better experience. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and all staff knew about it, treated us like kings and queens. Was the best meal we've ever had out together in 4 different countries!

Overall:
We’ll certainly be back!
Drinks:
Great drinks selection to match any price point - but all fantastic quality.
Food:
The food is fantastic. We enjoyed the (very filling) degustation menu. Great value for money. It was good to be able to enjoy both the vegan and standard menus. In other venues they usually make a table have the same option.
Service:
Outstanding. Our ‘clerk’ Neha was a delight. Very knowledgeable and attentive (but not overbearing!).
M. D.
Opulent minimalist aesthetic. Lovely views and a great spot to catch the last rays of afternoon sun. Tasty drink options.

This review is for the outside rooftop bar only*
The view is good of course (except for the top rail is right at eye level if you're about 6 ft so you can't stand and see without obstruction) but overall pretty ordinary really. The food took an age to come out (despite very few at the bar) and the charcuterie board we wouldn't order again. The bar itself is devoid of character (what's the go under the bartop?!) and the staff although courteous and capable were just going through the motions.
For the prime location and the $ that would have gone into this project this bar has surprised to the downside.
It's ok but we're not rushing back. Sorry.

A bottle of water for the table cost 10 dollars as well as sparkling. I hope it was the finest water you could find. We went to a Fine dine restaurant the next day and water was free which was such a relief. 5 course meal was interesting very hit and miss and didn’t feel like winter. Some meals were not balanced with flavors and textures and seemed way to creamy. Staff were friendly and it was nice scenery.

The seven course Tasting Menu is a stunning journey through innovative South Australian cuisine at it's finest. As soon as the culinary journey starts with the first dish, the perfectly curated local ingredients shine. Each dish arrives perfectly assembled, a visual delight, and expertly explained by the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic restaurant staff. A fantastic evening in superb surroundings, with great views, impeccable service and, of course, outstanding cuisine. Perfect!

Where do I even begin… let’s start with the service. Neha was the sweetest and friendliest waitress we’ve had in a long time. Working in hospitality myself, it means a lot when someone else within the industry creates an unforgettable experience such as the one we were given tonight. She knew what she was talking about and was on the ball the whole night. When we go out we just want to have fun. I think she may have had as much fun as we did.. which is all we could have asked for! The food was just as incredible, with the snap pea entree dish and the parsnip and apple dessert being only two of the highlights of the night. Not only this, but on our way out we were gifted with a little present to celebrate our anniversary. It’s the little things.. but they really do add up! Thankyou so much for such a fabulous experience! We will definitely be back!

I visited the restaurant last night with my friend and it was an amazing experience. We ordered the 7 course set with wine pairing. The food was innovative, tasty and fresh, and the wine was carefully selected to compliment the dishes. Some of the wine were quite surprising in a good way! The ambience of the restaurant was great too. The service was super friendly and attentive. Neha was our main server, and she was so lovely that I had to ask for her name to leave a great review for her. She was professional, friendly, really cared about our experience and went above and beyond to create an amazing experience for us. She even checked my preference on wine and tried her best to offer wine to my liking. Please pass this message to Neha because we want to thank her for being a big part of our beautiful night. Also thank you to every team member at Sol, everyone was amazing and we will definitely come back.

Nice view of Torrens River and Northern part of Adelaide city. Good selection of drinks and bites. Background music is just right and the atmosphere is more relaxed. One can dress up or dress down for this bar. Definitely worth of visit.

Best place to drink after uni/work. Reasonably priced. The That’s Berri cocktail (pictured) is a must try!

View is great, however this venue lacks in service and consistency. Waited an hour for bread to come out. A lot of miscommunication, my friend ordered a glass of champagne that was half full (as their glasses are wider than a regular flute) however the people 2 seats next to us had a full poured glass. Needs to be a better manager or more experienced staff, especially for the price and venue you expect more.

Lovely decor and comfortable surroundings but very disappointing Iced Chocolate when I visited with friends for afternoon coffee. Expected a spoon of ice cream and some whipped cream and got a small glass of very weak chocolate milk, watered down with lots of ice. Tasted like they had added half a teaspoon of Nestle Quick to skim milk and ice. I hope to update this review to a more positive one if I visit again but today's experience was sub-standard.

The Sol bar out on galleria is great, has fab views below of northern Adelaide, and a gr8 vibe !
We 4 dined in the Sol Restaurant expecting so much but were all very disappointed with the $560 we parted with between the 4 of us!
This was the four course set $110 set priced menu, excluding drinks menu.
We arrived feeling like a good varied meal!
The views around, ambience, decor and the waiting staff were just superb, great friendly efficient service, BUT the four courses did not deliver value whatsoever!
In a nutshell we came home having parted with $280 a couple, and literally made ourselves a ham sandwich at 10pm!
As this restaurant is new, and owned by the casino, it will really need to find its way, a gr8 restaurant has great repeat following and word of mouth. I look forward to the management making the necessary changes to put aside the 'gimmicks' of 'sustainable' food offerings etc. etc. and dishing up a decent a la carte meal!
I wish this place well, and hope it's a success, but as an avid diner in Adelaide: 2KW, The Mayfair Restaurant, and Georges on Waymouth will see me again soon!
Best of luck!

Gorgeous fit out with some exquisite south Australian ceramics on show. Food was enjoyable but not amazing. I would give the service and ambience 5 ☆, but not the food.

Excellent service from Neha (and everyone else) My friend and I had dinner there Saturday night and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Nothing was an inconvenience and we were well taken care of.

SÔL! Perfect for enjoying the best cocktails, and the best 180' view, accompanied by probably one of the best sunsets in South Australia from a wonderful rooftop!
