The view is beautiful from the undercover outdoor seating area of the Birkenhead Tavern as it sits at the warf of old Port Adelaide or you can opt for the indoor seating they have available. The menu offers a selection for all tastes breakfast lunch and dinner. We went for Dinner with local friends who frequently enjoy the Tavern. The meals were beautiful and fresh. I chose the Risotto and it was absolutely 💯 delicious. I then followed up with coffee and sticky date pudding. The Meals and dessert portions are very generous in size. #.The ramekin of Icecream was sitting in the pudding sauce. This was messy and off putting. I don't know where the ramekin had been prior to sitting in my bowl of food. I tried to discuss this concern with the wait staff who was less than interested. Which is disappointing as my complaints are small but could make all the difference to service. This in no way affects the experience of the Tavern and my friends say the breakfast is a must try.

Had a decent sized pork schnitzel as one of their specials. Came with Apple and bacon with a creamy onion sauce that was great. The view was pretty great to boot. Nice spot on a nice night.

We went for a drive out to Port Adelaide and chose this pub due to it being really well rated, with good reviews. It was 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon, not super busy. My steak was well done when I asked for medium, the burger was over done too. The vegetables were nicely cooked and it was nice to have veg and chips as an option. Nice views.

This sweet spot is called "Cruickshank's" beach and one to checkout, when you're at the Port next. It's not a big spot, but there's lots to see from its vantage point. Birkenhead hotel offers eat in or takeaway, plus make a hot latte. My Maremma loves to run, and my old girl enjoys her swim. Plenty of parking 👍🤠

Great old-school suburban pub. Outdoor tables for us non-smokers, overlooking the river and docklands. Good selection of tap beers. The menu looked creative, while still affordable. We weren't there at mealtime, but reckon we'll make the effort to go sometime.

So hard to get a lambs fry and bacon dish anymore and especially a good one. Had a beauty at the Tavern, perfect thick gravy of onion and bacon pieces, lambs fry cooked perfectly (very easy to overcook to dryness). And a rash of good quality bacon on top. Terrific meal. Mashed spud a bit dry, needs a more French approach. Great meal, and good outlook over the docks and water. Parking easy too.

Never been to the Birkenhead however must say impressed, the food was generous sizes, cooked well and well pretty good for a pub. Atmosphere is outstanding with views of the river service pretty nice the team always on the move and doing little jigs interaction with customers. I'm looking forward to going back, hey also book its pretty busy on a Saturday night.

I’d have to say I’ve been going to the Birk for at least 15 years and love the atmosphere, food, price and service. The standards and consistency have always remained high, the staff are friendly, thus the place being always packed. Well done Jake your doing a fantastic job and you should all be proud of yourselves.

The location is great. East to get to and find a park. Sitting on the verandah enjoying looking out at the Port River. Food options were plenty. I had the beef cheeks and they were amazing. Melted in my mouth!! The others had generous and delicious meals too. Great value and friendly service.

Located across the Port River overlooking the Port Adelaide area. It has lots of parking spots right in front and has a nice varanda with lots of tables. Perfect spot to have a lunch on a nice day. I wish the had grass in the front instead of all that gravel because the cars drive and lots of dust comes up to the people seating in the outdoor area. Besides that it has a water view and lots of daily deals. We had calamari and it was a very good portion for a fair price. Service was really friendly and fast.

I recently moved to SA and this has already become my favourite go to. The food and drinks are amazing and the staff are very welcoming. There is parking available and live sports playing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone living in or visiting SA. Located out near Port Adelaide, such an amazing venue.

Great place to dine. First time I've been there and wasn't disappointed. I have the barra with parmesan coating. Yum Yum. Cooked to perfection with large servings. Some photos around the inside dining area showing the port in days of old are worth checking out. The views from the outside dining area are extensive.

The location is the best Waterfront restaurant Port Adelaide has to offer. Pre-booking is highly recommended!! A big variety for every taste on the menu so as the salad bar. Meals are well presented and good portioned. Prices may be a little bit high for the locals. The staff is a very well trained - a friendly, smiling, happy bunch being the dot on the 'i' to give you a great eating-out experience, this luckily hasn't changed during the nine years I go there.

Best pub in Adelaide. We live near Tea Tree Gully, but it's always very worth the trip for a great experience, our favourite go to place for lunch, for the atmosphere, the food and the views.

Always noticed lots of cars here so decided to pop in. Super busy for a midweek lunch but luckily we got a nice outside table. Monday and Tuesday are the quieter days so best to make a reservation for other days. Staff were friendly and happy to offer us a choice of tables. The rack of lamb was delicious and cooked perfectly. My only negative was I thought the prices were a bit on the high side but still worth 5 stars.

Our group decided to come here for lunch, despite me living in the area for 10years. Well I must admit it wasn't bad, despite the bloke taking the orders having a blonde moment & confusing my order of swordfish with a ceasar salad. And having to wait & watch while the rest of my group, who ordered after me all get their meals, most had finished before I got mine. I began to wish I'd ordered plain old fish & chips as they looked really good as did some of the salads. My dish was nice, but unfortunately one of the pieces of swordfish was a bit too raw for my taste, (I'm not a fan of raw fish) and it was bland despite me seasoning it. But the fattoush salad that came with the swordfish was superb. I wished they'd marinated the swordfish with the fattoush seasoning, now that'd make it a really nice dish.

One thing I couldn't help but notice here was the number of people ordering a lunch special or small meal and just filling up at the salad bar. The salads were pretty standard but there was a bit of something for everyone. Meals were yummo, I had the beetroot feta salad, nicely made and presented. The price was right. Chips were good, the fishcakes were mostly batter: not a fan. There is something on the menu for everyone though. Nice place to sit too. VERY busy even on lunch on a wednesday

This place was fantastic! we went there on the recommendation of friends who couldn’t resist the opportunity to join us. The staff made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived - I’m not just talking courteous service but also intelligent, thoughtful service. It was cold and wet outside but warm on the enclosed deck, so even though we could see the lights across the Port River to the lighthouse on the wharf we were cosy. The meal was really good. Once again we ventured forth into the Tarvern and again were impressed with how friendly the staff provide their service. Despite having a packed venue, our waiting time was kept to a minimum, and unlike other taverns I have dined at in the Northern Suburbs, the meals prices are quite generous for the amount on your plate. If your a schnitzel lover, Mon - Wed are your $15 days, less toppings. ( and yes they do the pineapple, ham and cheese ‘Hawaiian’) for a extra few dollars. I look forward to the next event I will be hosting, as this will be the venue we shall dine in. Cheers for your service & professional standards Birkenhead.

Jake and the team at the Birk make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Plenty of parking. The main dining area is on the covered deck facing the Port River. There is also a small sports bar and poker machines. You need to book if you want to dine there in the evening or for special days. The menu is pretty much standard pub fare, but tasty and well cooked. Beef cheeks are especially hood.A regular specials menu keeps things interesting. You can get share platter if you are just wanting a light snack in the sports bar.

I've been wanting to come here for ages but as I live in the hills it's a bit of trek to get there but I finally did on Saturday and it was well worth the trip. I took my aunt there for lunch for her 96th birthday. We both had the fish and chips which were yummy, came quickly and was definitely value for money. The staff very friendly and provided excellent service. Will definitely return and I highly recommend.

Been here several times over past 17 years. Noisy but overall consistency in high standard of food. Staff look unhappy at times but can't say we've had a bad meal ever! Minor negative is chairs on floorboard noise but nice setting. Prices a little on the higher side for drinks and food but location, location. Stars for food and location. Make sure to book 😊🐬

We hadn't been here before, but we were really impressed. Friendly staff, very helpful, happy to help with our needs. We had grilled salmon, beef schnitzel, chicken burger and nuggets and chips. All meals were excellent and enjoyed by all. The chilli plum sauce on my schnitzel was one of the best sauces I've ever had, and the sweet potato chips with aioli was better than potato chips. The beer options were a bit limited - no Stella Artois for my wife - and only juice and premix soft drinks for the kids, but if that's the worst I can report, it's pretty minor. We'll be back, enough said.

Meals not as cheap as at many other pubs/hotels, but by golly, it was good...we were only a party of 5 at lunchtime, but even our 2 usual whingers were happy with their food! I really liked the casual atmosphere, clean premises, no annoying drunken loudmouths and excellent service from the friendly staff. It's probably wise to book your table, as it can become quite busy. There's a lovely deck outside, facing the water, but we chose to eat indoors that day as it was a bit chilly. They even cater to smokers with a special outdoor courtyard, which suited one of our group.. Just a nice place to socialise and enjoy great food!

Nice view & pleasant staff. A little pricey but not too bad. I had the ribs. Tender, sweet n sticky matched perfectly with coleslaw & charred corn on the cob. The only negative was the sweet potato chips. Potato would have gone better as the meat is sweet enough & they made it sickly. My family also had a steak; tender & juicy & seafood mix including beer battered fish that was also delicious. I would recommend this tavern as my uncle did to me but suggest swapping the sweet potato for chips/spud/roast potato if you have the ribs.

I would recommend the schnitzels. I had chicken with garlic sauce and bf had chicken with mushroom sauce, both were thoroughly enjoyed. The batter on the schnitzel was really crisp and the sauce was tasty. Would definitely go again if in the area. The food here is wonderful. So many different types of food to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. It is best to have a booking in their peak periods eg lunch or dinner. I'm not sure about breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Only downside can be a fairly long wait between 1st and 2nd course. Entree arrives very quickly as do the drinks but mains seem to take a long time. Kids may get impatient. Having said that I absolutely love the place. The Tavern also serves food all day!

We have been to the Birkenhead many times for meals and they have always been fanastic . Tonight we waited 1 hour for 10 people to get there meals and 8 out of the 10 where cold . Never had this experience before and when we spoke to the manager he was very apologetic and gave us all a meal voucher for another day and bought everyone a drink. Brilliant. Thats how you look after customers and that's why the Birkenhead is the best pub in the West for a meal.

Great place to go and visit, great food and great service and great salad bar, right next to the port Adelaide harbour, used to live in Adelaide, now live in Maroochydore qld, my cousin bought us here for lunch, I would recommend it to everyone, thanks for a fantastic lunch and a great day out

Awesome location. Located in historic port Adelaide. You can eat dinner while looking over the port. Modern interior. The fish and chips was nice.

My fav place to eat love the veg salad bar they made the best ever sticky date pudding and Apple crumble and lots more but I can nevetv past these two ..staff are wonderful great service and you can eat between 12noon and 9pm every day ..recommend you book as you don't want to miss out

Schnitzel was great, my gluten free family members were able to order with no trouble and the very nice staff came out to make sure they had been served properly to suit their dietary needs and even offered some insight into possible replacement for chips Sitting outside is a bit noisy & some seats are a bit too close to main doors/heavy tracfic Great food great service 😁

Excellent food and service. Well furnished. Water view and Pt Adelaide harbour. Slightly difficult to access entry road but this gives a feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle.
