Wonderful location on the river with plenty of outdoor seating. Had a bite to eat before a show and the pizza was tasty. Not a huge selection of beers on tap, service was quick though. The Italian sausage pizza was a bit dry and flavorless but the prosciutto pizza was yummy. Overall a good place to come of you’re already at be powerhouse

I did not realise the powerhouse served food. I went here to meet some friends and the food was amazing. You dine by the river so you get great views and the staff were so friendly. They did forget my juice until we mentioned it but they apologised and gave the drink for free since they forgot to serve it. Would definitely come here again.

Yeah like so this is a nice place. Great view. Confident menu. I would say their wine list is a highlight, and they sure have a lot of pigeons a lot (though none on the menu as at May 2019!) I went here with my daughter and my wife. Pleasingly, they did not have a microwave to heat up my daughter’s food, which was mildly inconvenient while admirable in that they Cook Their Food Well. The peppers were a recommendation from the waitress and were quite good. I don’t like croquettes, but their salt cod croquettes held up very nicely. I thought the octopus was a bit tough - it was probably the most disappointing dish. Both pasta mains held up, though the gnocchi was a touch too delicate. Good service, good atmosphere. Enjoy!

Great place. Especially on a Sunday afternoon for a drink with friends. Good drinks and nimble foods. Fantastic terrace and balcony over Brisbane river. Great view over New Farm. Beautiful place to chill out and rest. Highly recommended.

With relatives in tow, we headed to Bar Alto for dinner. Oddly, there aren’t many Brisbane restaurants on the river, so this was a no-brainer for out-of-town guests. I started with the prosciutto di parma, which came with a couple of different types of bread. This was delicious, melt in your mouth stuff; fabulous bread and luscious meat. I ate every bit of it, and even the bread which I don’t often do when eating out. Hubby had the ciabatta to start, and ate every slice himself. He is a huge carb fan, and he loved this chewy, flavoursome bread. The rellies are always watching their weight, so went straight to a main meal. Cuz and I both chose the spanner crab gnocchi, while hubby and the auntie went for the crespelle with ricotta, pumpkin and burnt sage butter. I am not a pasta fan in general, but this gnocchi was really wonderful. The gnocchi was light and pillowy, the sauce tasted of fresh, delicious crab, and the broth/sauce was so tasty and not overpowering, leaving the taste of crab floating delicately on your tongue. We both loved this dish! Hubby and auntie were fans of their crespelle, a vegetarian option, full of flavour, coming in a light broth. We all shared the dessert of white chocolate granita, raspberry sorbet and chocolate ice cream. The granita was like eating chocolate-flavoured snow; I felt like a kid again. (Yes I am from a colder climate originally.) This dessert was so pretty, and so sweetly delicious; we were all fans. Cuz and I drank prosecco, while it was soft drink for the driver and the aunt. We had wonderful service, with a brilliant and friendly waitress. The view was lovely, looking out to the river and the new pontoon full of jet skis which took off into the night with their lights glowing on the water. A really delicious dinner, enjoyed by all of us.

Bar Alto is a rare gem in the cluster of "trendy" vacuous restaurants so commonly found. It has consistently served hot, delicious, and comforting food. Service is gracious and unobtrusive. The pappardelle with goat ragout is rich and nuanced. I am waiting for the return of the excellent spanner crab gnocchi. There are many more on the menu to satisfy and fatten the heart with joy.

Always great service, even when i went last weekend after the football and looked a mess - they were super polite and we had a delicious dinner. The goat ragu is smaller than it used to be but still really delicious. We also go often to eat the Bolognese ragu on the bar menu, its amazing.

Was here for dinner inside the restaurant. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. We had an handmade ice tea of our choice as they didn’t have one on the menu. Food was super good and also great portion size (My bf is 6,7 (2m) and he was more than happy with his). For that price outstanding!

Oh the fresh cheese entree - there is little to describe it; not on the menu but if it's on the specials get it. We do get it EVERY time we can. There are meals like these that make one wonder why there is not a star Michelin rating here. Its up there with the one's we have tried in Dubai/Tokyo/London and better than some in NZ. The price is justified. Glorious if you like your food done well.

Location, service, food could not fault..thank you for a memorable experience. My only suggestion is that you put some kind of cover on the deck so that diners may still enjoy this sublime location in drizzly weather, as was the case yesterday. Will certainly be back..hopefully in fine weather!

Shared the mussels in chillie, tomato and white wine broth with ciabatta last night. Fabulous! The Spring Bay mussels were fresh and plump, the broth had the right amount of chillie and the ciabatta had the right amount of crunch. Will definitely be back

Bar Alto at the Powerhouse is the most relaxed and beautiful place to go and have a drink and a snack or a light meal. A lovely breeze, the Brisbane river, lots of room on the huge deck overlooking the river, never too crowded, and easy to get to. Courteous, friendly and polite staff, great food. And housed in our wonderful Powerhouse. Highly recommend any day of the week.
