Lovely experience at Capitol Bar & Grill. The restaurant was quite busy after 7pm so a booking is recommended. The staff were friendly and helpful and took attention to details e.g. refilling water at the table. Decided on sampling all the starters followed by dessert (6 starters 1 dessert between 2.) The food was delicious, the flavours blended beautifully- a well constructed menu. Highly recommend.

Second time staying at QT and second fabulous experience of food at Capitol Bar & Grill. Last night I had fillet steak, perfectly cooked, tasted amazing, knife slid through the meat, so good! My daughter had the baked cauliflower and was also super impressed. Breakfast was also excellent, really bummed the buffet was closed because of Covid as it was amazing last time but totally understand. Can’t wait to come back.

Nice sunny restaurant on the ground floor of the wonderful QT Hotel. The Bar & Grill works as a seperate entity and provides room service and the restaurant and bar. It’s a nice quirky decor, much in the theme of the QT, and the area is nicely spaced out and comfortable. Service was great and the staff especially friendly. The food was OK, but didn’t really match the prices. The ‘warm’ focaccia was cold, the minute steak cooked well but accompanied by string fries, obviously out of a bag and cooked from frozen. All tasty, but could have been a bit more carefully prepared. The room service menu was the same - OK, but could have been better.

The atmosphere and service were fantastic. We loved the lighting and seating arrangements. However, we were quite disappointed with the food. My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and we were came with open wallets. We started with entrées, prawn and zucchini flowers. They were nice. Nothing special, but nice. I had the rib eye steak and it was cooked to my liking, but it was obviously not a quality cut of meat. It was full of grizzly/fatty bits. The sort of steak you get at an RSL, but for half the price. We had the rustic fries on the side. There was nothing rustic about them! They were just packet skinny fries with table salt. The wine menu is great. A very large selection. Overall, we had a good time. Just would have expected more from the food when the prices are what they are.

We went in on a Sunday for a late lunch - so it wasn’t very busy. The place was neat and sophisticated. I personally loved the decor there, simple yet so mood setting. The food on was alright. Not the best but alright. I sent my steak back because it was overcooked. They brought me back another plate which was better than the first. Loved the garnish though, however not the best steak I’ve had. Service was good- the young man that served us was prompt and attentive. Very apologetic as well when he realised what had come from the kitchen. Overall an alright establishment. Would recommend.

Disappointing. Arrived on time for 2:30pm High Tea. Staff overwhelmed. First sitting patrons still in situ. Diverted to bar for 30 minutes. Seated in windy walkway. "Complementary" sparkling wine served in plastic glasses. High Tea included cold hot food, stale bread sandwiches and a split scone, served with a smear of jam, cream and coloured sprinkles. Tepid tea dispensed from "Coles Cafeteria" style trolley.

The most satisfying italian dinner ever!!!!!!!!!! Me & my sister went for my sister’s birthday celebration. The mix Antipasto was absolutely divine. Walnut pesto- Prawn pasta was rich flavoured and very fresh (both pasta&prawn) And the aged steak.... it is the reason why you have to go to Canberra... just like me. Desserts were so beautiful and delish! Specially the white chocolate dome was something i would recomend to everyone to try! They written happy birthday for my sister on the plate too! Each and every staff wished her happy birthday. Thanks again to all kind and friendly staffs and chefs for amazing food experience !!! P.s) their breakfast is awesome too! So worth it!

I'd like to start with how genuinely good the staff was, as well as accomodating they were. Kudos to them! Unfortunately, that really could not save the night from a $100 undercooked steak, which was literally raw. I know Florentine-style steak should be more red than pink, but this was pushing it, especially when we requested it to be medium rare. Significant parts of it ended up as a un-cooked, chewy, stringy mess, which made dinner memorable for all the wrong reasons. Potatoes were nice - they don't joke around when they say they are 'crisp'. Truffle Mac and Cheese however felt somewhat plain. Ups and downs all over the place, hard to give it a higher review after what we paid for.

Wonderful service and very accommodating staff. The staff knew the meals on the menu very well and could advise on flavours brilliantly. Every time I eat there, the food it's just fantastic. Don't miss it if you visit Canberra! Their grilled food are perfectly made, the polenta fingers to die for and the pie is the best in Australia. Plus the warm environment and nice service makes it worth it to pay for it. Yes, it's not a cheap eat.

Food was exceptional, but the service was poor. The girls was nice enough, but it took 40 mins for drinks to come out, (after we asked multiple times where our drinks were), one of the drinks was completely wrong which had to be sent back, and they forgot to ask me for a drink to start with (I had to call the waitress back to our table because she walked off without getting my drink order). Then when we ordered food, it took an hour for the food to come out. Service aside, the food itself was AMAZING!! If the service was good, they'd get 5 stars for sure. I would go back, but I'd hope the service was better. Maybe we just got a new person.

Was an occasion dinner, so was hoping for a great experience based on reviews and a previous visit some time ago. Focaccia was cold and stale, not a nice start. Steak tartare was great, but "Melba toast" wasn't enough to finish the tartare. Oysters were super fresh and tasted great. Ordered a rib eye and fillet steak. Asked for rib eye medium rare, was overcooked. Disappointed with quality of the meat and at $60 for 300g not worth it. Had to ask what cut the fillet was from, staff didn't know and had to check. Having said that it was delicious and cooked well. The wine list is extensive, but very expensive, there were no real mid point wine options available. Service was quite good and pleasant. A dinner for 2 with wine around $300 is very expensive IMO and for this price point would expect an excellent service.

Food was good. Steak was excellently cooked. Beef tartare was slightly tangy for my taste, but to each their own for that one. Major letdown was that they had run out of their signature bistecca alla fiorentina steak (at 7pm in the evening). This would have been fine if there was some indication on their menu or otherwise that this was a limited menu item, thereby setting the expectations for customers regarding their very signature dish. Nevertheless, the ribeye recommended as a substitute that we had instead was amazing.

After having just won awards I would have thought the service would be up to scratch (as it has been the other times I’ve been) however it was very disappointing to be ‘greeted’ which such rudeness on Saturday 3 August. That was one thing and then my partner and I, who were clearly dressed up for a romantic evening, were given a table in the worst location surrounded by families and crying babies whilst plenty of nicer spots were empty (in my booking I mentioned it was a special occasion - my partner’s birthday). When I asked if we could please be sat at a quieter and nicer table one would have thought I had asked for the Earth to be moved! After being relocated to a more appropriate spot we were told of the special only to learn that in fact we hadn’t been told about ALL of the specials (one of which we ended up ordering). Very unimpressed with that service. Luckily the food was delicious and the person who served us throughout the rest of the service was an improvement on how the night had begun. But when spending $300 on a meal for two - to be greeted with a smile and politeness, and not to mention consideration of an appropriate table should be the give. Will not being going back anytime soon.

The meals here are delicious. Reservations are recommended. They specialize in aged steaks done italian style. Entrees were the standout with the salt cured beetroot absolutely perfect. The steaks are good quality however there was some over charring on one of the steaks. Drinks are varied and priced well. The desert was well done but not great. Would go again and try some of the other parts of the menu.

Nice steak and great atmosphere. However, we order a Diet Coke and it was expired. We inform the staff at the bar and get a replacement. When we had the steak, we get another expired Diet Coke. That’s a bit concern their food safety policy. The expired Diet Coke has out of date over 5 months!

What a Restaurant. Ordered the Fillet and it was one of the best steaks I've had. Cooked perfectly and served with burnt onion mustard which worked extremely well. My partner had the burger which was also very good. If you like potato try the mash, you won't regret it. Service was good (with only a couple of hiccups). They were attentive and friendly. Wine prices are reasonable. We also had a few cocktails, the old Cuban is a very nice one. All in all an excellent experience.

Arrived abit late as there very several groups that were having dessert/leaving when I placed my order. Initially, service was non existent and I had to hunt down my glass of water. As it got less hectic, the service staff were more attentive, pity it wasn't from the start. Ambience was ok, a bit too dark, in fact the lightening in the bar area was much more comfortable as compared to the actual restaurant. As I didn't want to use flash and bother other patrons, the photos didn't not come out well. Food wise it was pricey, I had a salt and pepper calamari as a starter, and rib eye for main. The starter was tiny, just a few morsels polished off in no time. It was a bit too salty for my liking, but not unbearable. Main was an alright portion, with the steak done as ordered. Sweet potato fries were severed hot, and a selection of sauces like mustard and barbecue were available. As I was dining as an in house guest, I had a 50% discount due to my membership, so I paid a total of $35 for both dishes. Otherwise, it would be $70 before drinks and dessert which I would regard as way overpriced.
