It’s been way too many years since I was last here. But yep…I’m back. Well back in Darwin that is. But the shipping centre is brilliant and dropping into the tavern for lunch on Mother’s Day we were blessed with a complimentary champers and a high class restaurant style meal. To compliment all this were perfectly poured beers, an incredible wine list with decent aussie wines at good prices and reds kept cool. Air con was blizzard style icy cold which was perfect on a hot humid day and surprisingly the beer gardens were lovely with ceiling fans and fresh air. Just a great place to visit

This is my personal favourite watering hole on the weekend. Coolalinga Tavern is only a 10 minute easy drive from where I live. While a modern Tavern, it does have an outback feel about. It has large dining areas with different colour wood separating areas. The bar is long and large and staff are friendly and efficient. However, it's the food which is a standout. I just got back from the Sunday Lunch where my sons and I had the Sunday roast. Pork belly and freshly cooked vegetables at a price of just $16.50. Yes, it's not a misprint. The pork was of the melt in the mouth variety. Ina word...yum! Prompt service and lots of staff. I prefer sitting in the ash coloured wood dining area, near the kitchen but this is just my taste. I have tried hard but honestly, I can't fault the Coolalinga Tavern. It is a nice atmosphere and suitable for old, young and families. The surrounding area has lots of FIFO mine workers who work in WA but prefer to live in the Darwin rural area when off shift. It's working class clientele....but a very rich working class. I could go on but time to end. Give it a try is my suggestion. It will be worth the drive.

Food was top quality. NZ mussels wrapped in bacon entree was superb. I had the Lamb for main and it too was delicious. Even had dessert, Banana Brulee, yum! VERY impressed with the vast range of Gluten Free options. It was a very busy night and yet the service was quite speedy. Well done!

I love this place you have indoor dining in aircon or out door no aircon. The food is great but the could do with a better steak selection for steak lovers. Then you have the in door and out door entertainment areas. Live Sports coverage, keno. Cold beer and cocktails. What else could anybody want. 👍

First meal there tonight. Liked the look and the different sections. Bar staff were very polite and didn't have to wait as enough staff behind bar. Entre of garlic pizza was too oily and pizza base didn't look or taste cooked. Chicken salad was very nice and not just lettuce and chicken on a plate. Good varity of vegetables. Partner had calamari with chios and salad and tasted fresh. Will go back again.

Roads off the normal sealed roads could use some attention. Having said that; the locations of some.of these "outback tracks" makes it easy to understand why they recommend a 4x4 for majority of adventures on offer.
