Yet again the Wisdom Pub puts on a fantastic meal and only price to $15 for a Porterhouse steak sandwich chips and cold beer.. peaceful quiet with air con blowing outside

My partner and i had a meal today. Was a perfect combination of ingredients in the steak sanga in the $15 lunch. The ceasar however.... Was undoubtedly the BEST ceasar i have tried to date from around Australia. Perfectly seasoned dish, egg was still runny and the right amount of dressing even after i asked for extra. Great meals in all. Service i would say could be better however as the bar tender didnt seem happy or inviting when we first walked in. But that wouldnt deter us from returning.

I eat here often and love the $15 lunches. Sadly yesterday I tried the Chicken hot pot... It was awful. It looked and tasted very much like canned soup... My family had lovely meals in front of them, I was just unlucky to order something they don't do well. I did complain and the bar staff tried their best to rectify but the Chef was not willing to accept the food was bad... maybe just buy drinks here and get better food elsewhere. I also noticed they don't have any vegetarian options on the $15 Lunch Menu which would be nice if they did.

Went there for lunch and ordered lunch special deal $15 everyday until 3pm which is meal + drink (beer, wine and soft drink available). I wish vegetarian Caesar salad was bigger portion, I expected big salad as it’s Australian pub... Caesar salad wrap was great. I would try something different next time.

Great place for lunch. They have a $12.50 lunch deal that is made up of a large dish and a drink (including beer or wine). Three seating areas: indoors with ac, outside smoking and outside nonsmoking. Also there’s daily live music. I highly recommend it!

Not a bad venue, food OK, but bar service really bad, very slow ,even though 3 staff on at the time , took ages to get served, Friday night and only 50% full, had meal and went elsewhere for drinks.

Located right near monsoon, but tucked away behind a beer garden is Wisdom Bar and Cafe. Great efficient service. Surf and turf type dish was filling and tasty. House red wine was good. Walking distance to all CBD hotels. Go there early for a peaceful dining experience.

Great spot on Mitchell Street. Friendly and helpful staff. The Bacon, Egg and Cheese Baguette with hash brown for $9.90 is good value and delicious. May have had a sneaky Corona at 10am.. it was hot and I was thirsty!

Ordered a caesar salad and a lemon lime and bitters. The price and speed were pretty good and I liked the more laid back atmosphere compaired to the noisier bars around. However, the bar tender didn't know how to make a lemon lime and bitters, which is a pretty standard drink here, and on the menu. She asked one of the other staff what to put in but clearly there was miscommunication somewhere because she left out the lime alltogether, so its just lemonade with way way too much bitters. I also asked for and double confirmed no anchovies in my salad. The salad was generally pretty good, crisp lettuce, nice chicken, nice croutons, but has a distinct fish flavour, which I really dislike. I'm guessing there's just anchovy in the dressing, but after making a point twice to confirm no anchovies it would have been good to get a heads up. Could have been an issue for someone with a seafood allergy.

Low key during the day busy with dancing at night time with an eclectic mix of DJs and play lists. Leaning more towards cheesy classic hits before bending to some funky R&B tunes. Can be variable really. Drinks are averagely priced, nothing extraordinary but by that point the floor will have absorbed most of the beverages in the area and be a sticky mess. Drinking won't be on your list of priorities as much as either survival or pulling.

My wife and I have enjoyed steaks the world over and thought we'd try The Wisdom even though it had the possibly dubious sign heralding 'the best steaks in Darwin '. Well, if there are better they would have to be incredible. My wife's med-rare porterhouse and my rare filet were perfect. Not had many better, anywhere, anytime.

We ate there today and I was more than impressed with the $12 50, very generous servings and the quality of the meals it can't be beaten... Absolutely value for money!! currently there is a $12 50 lunch special across the usual pub menu... steak sandwiches, hamburgers, chicken Caesar wraps, salads ... all served with a generous helping of chips ..you also get either a free soft drink, beer, house wine or house spirit!

I recently went for lunch with my partner and baby. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming. They have 'furphy' on tap which I enjoy. I ordered the ''Wisdom" burger and chips for $17 something. However, I didn't really enjoy the food. The chips were thin "McDonald's style" but stuck together and tasted very oily. The burger was served on a flat wooden cutting board thing but feel apart in my hands and all over the board/table. It was very greasy and dripped everywhere. It was one of the oilier burgers I have ever had. The bun was very thin and fell apart easily. While it appears a nice place to have a beer with friends, in terms of a pub meal I couldn't go past the $10 meals at the Virginia tavern.

We visited twice. First night salmon was magnificent. Second night we all had beef and reef. Again the food was magnificent The facility is semi open air and is very comfortable. Highly recommended for location service and quality at very reasonable prices .

Hands down the best steak I have ever eaten! The house speciality steak ‘the carpet bagger’ was generous enough to be an entree and main in one. Great meal, exceptional service and live music too! Chef Kevin is doing an amazing job!

Prices for meals are low for a quite large and quality meals. Service was good too. Staff really great and accommodating. One big problem with this place is that they allow smoking right next to the eating area! Unbelievable. We could smell smoke for the duration of our meal. Not sure how it gets past the NT smoking laws. Because of this, I will not be returning.

Been here twice during our stay in Darwin. I caught up with a old school friend for brunch which was lovely we both had eggs Benedict. But we had dinner tonight yum. I had stuffed chicken breast. This came with veggie salad and the best red wine jue I’ve ever had. Mark had wagyu steak. There was a bit of a mix up with the steak so it took a little bit longer than it should of. So we were given 2 free cocktails. Our waitress was the best. She was always doing something kept herself busy. Such a good worker. Her name was Chantelle just lovely polite professional brilliant. You can see the head chief prepare meals. He made each meal look perfect. Watching him take so much care with each meal even if it was just a burger showed the care and professionalism they all showed all night

If you are looking for an awesome steak in Darwin, without all the tourism "Buffalo" tags please try Wisdom on Mitchell St. We walked in last night not knowing the menu, as their was great live music happening. The Bistro style alfresco seating was far enough from the dance floor to be able to enjoy the music and atmosphere, yet still hold a conversation at the table. When we checked out the menu it was really appealing to all the wallets in our group. The men eyed off the aged steaks in the display and my hubby was sold on the "Cape Grim" signage as he is Tasmanian. In your group we ended up with Fillet Migion, Classic Carpet Bags and the best Beef Wellington on the planet! The table went silent apart from the swapping of "taste this ...... OMG ...... taste this" lol We enjoyed it soooooo much! After many years in the Restaurant Industry, I had to tell the Chef how good it was. He was a lovely laughing Chef with a strong English accent and he certainly knows how to rattle his pots n pans and fire his grill. Thank you to the staff and most of all Chef Kevin for a fabulous meal. We woke up this morning still raving about it. We will be heading back to sample more of the menu before we leave Darwin. I might even give his local Jewish cutlet a try. Such a great and memorable meal!
