Comments of Cascade Brewery Bar

If you love beer. This is your heaven. The brewery tour took us through the working factory and was rich in information and history. The tasting paddle at the end was reward for the long trek. 18 year old and above for the tour only, unfortunately.
V. S.
This is a stop everyone should take the time to see! The outdoor space is amazing (it is huge, plenty of shade, and the tables are spread apart). Service is excellent and our server was extremely knowledgeable with their products. Every suggestion he gave us we went with after telling him what we like and we loved it all!

Tour was okay, guide was great but have been to better brewery tours. You had to wear what seemed like a ridiculous amount of PPE but we didn't see a single worker or any work going on during the tour...the bottling wasn't running either which would have been the most interesting thing to see. Everyone got their own tasting paddle but would rather have more variety and smaller glasses than 4 large sized tasters. Also 2 dark ale/stout out of 4 was alot for people who don't like stout(probably the majority of the population). The food was also very average. Poor presentation and bland, very mediocre. Loved the mulled cider and the decor in the restaurant and such a beautiful location so overall 4 stars as we had a great time but definitely room for improvement and wouldn't return any time soon.

Our Sunday lunch was terrific. Beautiful atmosphere, great beer, very good food and not expensive. We didn't book but we were able to sit outside in the sunshine. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Slow cooked brisket on crushed potatoes - plenty of it and it just melted in your mouth! Pan fried squid salad was delicious as was the salmon.
A. S.
Fantastic spot for a drink and food. Very busy on a Saturday lunch, glad we booked (online and very easy) as they were turning people away. Service was friendly and good, great knowledge of drinks and food. Food was excellent and drinks also. Had both beer and cider tasting paddles, very nice! They also had warm mead on pour, this was awesome on a cold day! Good gin and local whisky selection too. A Hobart must see!

Great place to stop for lunch and a beer after a trip to Kunanyi / Mount Wellington.
The well manicured gardens provided a peaceful setting to relax.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
A. C.
Such a cool exterior and interior setup. Very nice garden and spacious seating arrangements. However beer is beer, so all good. Food was a bit disappointingly dainty and pricey. Worth a visit for a beer or two. Will still recommend it.
J. D.
We ordered the lamb sausages & mash, mushroom parmi and roast chickpea salad alongside the recommended beers. All meals were generous serves and delicious! We loved sitting in the outdoor beer garden surrounded by fountains and lush greenery. It was perfect exploring the gardens after our lunch. A lovely experience.
K. L.
A bit out of the way for the traditional tourist but worth visiting for the history. The food was more glamorous than the traditional pub affair.
A. G. M.
Great place with a good environment, I had a good cider, however food is too expensive of what it really is.
K. M.
Beautiful outdoor garden seating and definitely try the loaded sweet potato fries.
J. B.
Delicious food, friendly staff. Reasonably priced and the gardens are incredible. We booked a table but it was inside and outside is much better. We were there early so we were easily able to move outside. I recommend a visit.
T. P.
Definitely worth a visit! Reasonably priced drinks. I would however say the best thing is the experience. The grounds are really well kept and the view/aesthetic is amazing
C. G.
Service was lovely, nothing was ever even the slightest problem (we've found this alot in Tas, everyone is lovely and accommodating). Location has a scenic lookout and wonderful gardens for the kids to run and play while the adult enjoyed a drink or a paddle of their drink of choice
M.
Come for the setting and the view even if you don't like the beer.
Got the tasting paddle, I liked the lager & the pale ale.
J. C.
Great food. Great beer. Great value. The whole tribe left their bowls clean.
D. T.
The setting is absolutely beautiful particularly on a nice sunny day. There's ample space inside and out and fairly relaxed. The staff are quite pleasant and do their job well. The food is quite good and prices are quite reasonable. It's quite busy on weekends but is still enjoyable to be there even when it's busy.
B. T.
Fantastic location, beautifully set up, great beer and bar snacks.. pretty disappointed with the mains. Mains were overcooked and dry even though the menu was very reasonably priced.
Staff where awesome, friendly and helpful.
Suggest they start a steakhouse to go
along with the delicious beer.
Also beautiful gardens, a must visit in Hobart
V. B.
Has lovely gardens and plenty of parking. Staff are always very friendly. The range of drinks is very nice. Meals and nibbles available. Coffee is available but unfortunately they have closed their coffee shop.
G. M.
It’s a lovely place and has good drink options + my friends enjoyed their food. Unfortunately I ordered the pork belly and it was these thin hard charcoal pieces that tasted terrible, could barely tell it was pork. Definitely not worth $18, and the staff were not at all friendly so I was too nervous to say anything about it. In saying that it’s a lovely place to visit and everything else seemed good.

My girlfriend is a BIG beer drinker and wanted to do this tour of the Cascade Brewery whilst we were in Hobart with friends. I myself do not partake of the amber fluid and thought it might not be for me but I was very surprised to find that the history and the location, together with the cafe were enough to make me value the tour. However the passion of our tour guide and all the information he imparted about how beer is brewed and the history of the process was just so interesting. I learnt heaps and thoroughly enjoyed my whole time there. Well worth a look.
Great tour, great beer and a beautiful historic building to photograph.
We had plenty of time to wander through the gardens and even have lunch at the restaurant if we wanted. Plenty of photo
opportunities of the brewery buildings and its grounds however, you are not permitted to take photos inside the brewery.
Tip: be aware that at the time we attended, to participate in the tour of the brewery, we could not have consumed any alcohol prior to the tour
You do get to sample the beers afterwards 🍻
Great place to visit when in Hobart
C. D.
Very mixed experience
We arrived early (2 hours) via Uber, prior to our brewery tour which turned out to be a great brewery tour thanks to our fantastic tour guide David! However on arrival after asking for a table for two for lunch we were advised that they were booked out all day and that we were only able to walk around the gardens. On returning back to the pub we decided to try to book a table after our tour.. during this the same lady that had declined us a table gave away a table to a table of 6 who had just arrived. On asking why we weren’t told to wait 5mins, we were told that the table wasn’t available 5 minutes earlier as she turned to other staff and shook her head at us.. not only was this extremely rude but also ensured we stood around for 2 hours in at times heavy rainfall as there is very little to do and see other than the on site which was extremely disappointing.. thankfully the tour was fantastic and the beer was great…
F.
Fantastic place. Relaxed atmosphere. I love it here. Beautiful garden, great food and drink and very attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit. 👍🏼
S. R.
The Cascade Brewery is a lovely place to go for a quick visit or lunch. The history of the place is interesting and you can do a factory tour if you have time. But check the tour departure times and book early as they fill up. The meals are of great value.
T. C.
Great little place. Good value food and the tour was amazing. James (tour guide) was so knowledgeable and knew everything about the building and it’s history. Would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
G. F.
It's a Brewery and historical site as well. They offer tours around the Brewery and historical buildings. Booking ahead is essential. Great tasting experience.
I. T.
If I was rating this establishment on service and friendliness of staff alone I would already give them 5 stars.
A nice ambiance with beautiful views of the well maintained garden and the original brewery building.
Food is very decent. We had the calamari salad and mushroom risotto. The calamari was extremely tender. Risotto was tasty and comforting.
My favorite brew is the pale ale. Clean with a nice maltiness.
I recommend this place if you are in Hobart. Whether you take the tour or not it is worth a visit.
I.
Beautiful old buildings and gardens. However, the beers and ciders on tap are what it's all about. And, they are fantastic. Try the tasting paddles, good value for 4 selections. Friendly service and fantastic cafe/bar.
F. H.
Beaut location with stunning views and grounds. Beer delish and the tasting plate was nice also. Superb day for sitting on the front verandah enjoying a few brews
R. C.
I liked the place, the beer and the food. There are options of guided tours through the brewery - men and women need to be dressed in long pants and closed shoes for safety, as it is a functioning facility. You can do the bear tastings at the bar even if you don't do the tour. There are also other options of beverages to please all the crowds. The food was good and service wasn't bad either. I highly recommend visiting the place.
K. E.
What a great place for a beer and pub dinner. Fantastic setting, recently renovated and with a great ambience. The range of drinks is extensive and the beers are mostly brewed across the road in the Cascade Brewery. The food menu is excellent and great value for money.
The Bar is also a great place for small and large functions. It’s open and spacious with great breakout and private rooms. Most of the bar has wonderful views of the old brewery and there is great outdoor seating for the short warmer months.
E. C.
We took a detour on the way back from Mt Wellington hike and took part in the brewery tour. The tour guide was amazing and super knowledgeable, the tour contained a lot of information and I came out knowing a lot more about Cascade and beer making (an improvement from 0). The weather was great and the beer/cider included in the tour was definitely the highlight of the day. The garden was also very pretty, I would recommend having a stroll around after the tour. Btw the student price for the tour is only $24 instead of $30, which is a great deal considering the complimentary beer/cider costs $15 alone.
M. M.
Beautiful place. Staff are amazing, very polite. Food was terrific. I recommend to all visitors and locals. The gardens are well maintained and the resident rooster was an added bonus.
A. K.
A nice walk in from Hobart city at around 5-6kms each way. Plenty of locations for seating and a good selection of food and drinks. I've done the tour previously but this visit was just to have a look around and drink. A recommended visit for both drinkers and non drinkers. 👍
D. D.
We had lunch and a couple of beers there. Pretty nice place. Didn't get time to do the tour. Trying the different beers was the best part! They have a very nice beer garden out the back, which you can walk along the different pathways to explore
S. C.
Food and mulled cider were good, not great. I imagine the gardens could be gorgeous but seemed a bit neglected.
Beautiful views of the brewery building and Mt Wellington from the gardens and the water features are lovely.
Staff were all very friendly.
S. P.
Beautiful venue with food of a standard that's fine for the price. Unfortunately an extremely loud singer guitarist playing when we arrived at 6.30. After some to and fro from a couple of groups with staff the music was turned down but still rattled the venue. We moved to a room off to the side which was fine. Muso was fine but way too loud for dinner time.
I. C.
We attended the brewery and tasting tour. What a great experience with a very informative guide. The best part is at the end you get to taste the brews with an awesome platter. The food was so good we stayed for dinner so we could soak in the lovely ambience of the bar with the ancient brewery in the background. Such a good experience 😁
樱.
Limited selection of food but pretty good varieties. Nice range of beers. Ample selection of whiskey and wines.
K. G. C.
We have only a 8 hrs stop oover in Hobard and needed to decide what to do. We are very happy that we choose to do the Brwety tour at Cascade. Beautiful place, spectacular scenery, friendly staff and the tour was very informative and entertaining. We loved the tokens for beers/ciders at the end and decided to have lunch here before we headed back to the ship. 100% recommended
A. P.
Absolutely loved the tour this afternoon. After shooting 30 years ago for Cascade Lager , hot air ballooning with Australian Film Company .. Today great memories.
J. M.
Great place for lunch or a quick bite. Nice affordable prices and beer is tastey! Give yourself to explore the gardens or do a tour if you like you can drink in the garden as well while you walk around its fully licenced. Very relaxing and picturesque. Service was great!
D. S.
If you get t he chance come down and have a look. While the tour itself doesn't encompass a lot of the factory the tour guide we had (Denver) was awesome. You could tell he knew the ins and outs not only of the cascade brewery but beer brewing and tasting as a whole. As part of the tour you also get 4 "sample" beers at the end. The sample beers are 200ml each so 4 of is close to a litre which is enough to get you going lol. They have a restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend coming here and doing the tour.
R. H.
Is a long history since 18xx. The brew tour and tasting tour is 2 hours. Has English and Chinese guide available to choose for. Has a souvenir section for you to bring home. Very interesting historical place and scenery.
T.
We enjoyed the informative and interesting brewery tour. Our guide Denver gave us a safety briefing first, followed by a very informative talk about the origins and history of the brewery and the surrounding area.
Then we were led into the factory and he gave us a detailed talk on the processes for brewing beer.
The last part is of course sampling of beer in the cafe. Overall a highly recommended activity.
B. S.
During the brewery tour we have learned a lot about the brewing process of beer.
We had the possibility to smell different hops varieties and barley roastings as well.
The guide was very informative and provided a lot of background information about the history of the brewery and the current situations.
After the tour there was a beer tasting where you are able to taste four different beers.
As small hint for improvement, it might be worth to include more inside visits of the brewery.
R. L.
Good pub kinda grub.
Better on a clear day.
E. P.
Good pub to enjoy some tap beer. Food wise, so so.
T. P.
Awesome History and beautiful scenery " A must see !!!!
S. L.
Overall, a positive experience each time. The food is delicious, variety of drinks, friendly staff, reasonable prices, good location in an amazing looking building. However, don't bother trying to book via a phone call (they never pick up), just book through their website.
E. L.
Great views and gardens. Tasting paddles and a parmy! Food took about 45 mins to come out so perhaps order early to avoid waiting too long. Tours book out so be sure to book in advance.
H. W.
Lovely garden, always come back just to immerse myself in it. The drinks are fresh and tasty and both the service and fireplace are warm :)
K. D.
great beer on tap, beautiful garden with bulp lights..
P. W.
Best beer , best chips and atmosphere of Tasmania!
E. M.
Nice brewery and garden. Staff are friendly and professional.
M. C.
My partner and I frequent the brewery bar. It’s not only absolutely beautiful inside and out, but the food is brilliant and the staff are always fabulous. One of my favourite places to be. The apple and rhubarb crumble by the fire is perfect after work.
D. M.
The brewery tour was very interesting. You get loads of information told by the guide, although the tour does not show a lot of the brewery itself. You can see the refilling of kegs from afar, smell on different grains and hops and see some tanks. However the guide was very good and open to questions. Also we took the riverlet trail along the river to reach the brewery, which was a nice walk.
M. W.
Shared a amazing day going on the Brewery Tour. The guide was informative and passionate which enhanced the experience. Beer tasting was included in the tour and priced very reasonably. Lunch in the cafe/ restaurant was I would have to say the best burger I have eaten a definite must try. All staff were welcoming and extremely helpful.
C. C.
Beautiful gardens and awesome view of the historic cascade building. The gardens were large and nice to go for a walk or enjoy a drink or meal on the lawn or tables. Music that wasn't too loud was playing at the venue when we went on the early afternoon. There is an indoor eating are too which is brightly lit with natural sunlight streaming in the large windows. There are some antiques on display from the cascade brewery. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and a great place to bring family.
M. G.
Don’t have anything that has been fried...oily and not good. Service terrible and non existent. The mussels were the saviour and fantastic. Real mixed bag and not hurrying back.
P. B.
This place is incredible. The food here is really good, although a bit simple but still good. The drinks here are really good. The cider and the beer is amazing. Get the sampler board of cider or beers for a taste of everything. Very decently priced drinks and they make them at the brewery.
I considered deducting a mark for them adding lots of pepper to my chips and wedges. I don't like pepper. But still they tasted amazing. But ... The views here are amazing !! There is this massive 'garden' at the brewery. It's very big and very beautiful and worth visiting he brewery just for this. The entire brewery is surrounded by beautiful forest and there are fountains and flowers and plants all over the brewery garden. Definitely deserving of 5 stars despite the pepper incident. Maybe ask for no pepper if you're like me. Very worth a visit wether you're drinking, eating or just exploring.
The building itself is very big and rustic and old style. It's a very nice place to visit. A definite must see if you're in this area.
T. N. (.
The brewery tour is excellent, it is definitely a must-do in Hobart. I recommend going on the 11 AM tour so you can enjoy a nice lunch with some tasty beers afterwards, followed by a stroll through the garden.
C. S.
While we have, in the past, had delicious food at the Brewery, it was not the case today. Having ordered the Taste of Tassie plate I was disappointed to find that it was not up to the standard I had previously had. The pickled octopus, hot smoked salmon and smoked wallaby were perfect, though it would have been nice to have a slice of lemon or a touch of mayo beside the salmon - even a sprig of dill or a sprinkle of dried dill. The ham, however, looked like pressed supermarket slices, not off the bone. As for the pickled vegetables and relish - both were utterly tasteless. The vegetables tasted as though they had been in a very dilute vinegar and water solution (mostly water) with very little pickle flavour and the relish was the most insipid I have ever eaten! I will go back, as the food in the past has been much better, but I doubt that I will risk this plate again.
N. C.
Really great experience here! The buildings look awesome and the food is tasty. If you’re not into beer their mulled cider is also a good choice!
E.
Great tour! The guide was really informative and Cascade Brewery has a really interesting history. You get tokens to sample beer after the tour and we got extra free samples for answering the trivia questions at the end of the tour correctly. Great beer too!
Not in downtown Hobart, but it was relatively easy to get to (there’s a public bus that goes from downtown Hobart to right across from the brewery or cabbing there is reasonably priced).
A. M.
Just had an amazing tour of Australia’s oldest brewery with a very knowledgable and interesting guide. Learnt some amazing history of Tasmania and Hobart along with the history of Cascade with a few lovely drinks at the end. Definitely recommend the tour!
R. G.
The tour on offer is very informative, explaining the processes of making Cascade beers, including their hop varieties.
Disappointingly, you are taken into the brewery itself, but don't really see anything. The entire tour could have been done in the heritage room.
Tour includes 4 x 200ml beers on tap.
C. C. S. A.
The most historic brewery I have visited and I have visited my fair share:)
Slightly disappointing the actual tastings are in another building but can appreciate the original all the same. Well worth a viewing.
D. S.
Great brewery tour, really informative a great beer tasting at the end, well worth stopping in at the restaurant while you're there because the food is awesome and well priced.
K. W.
Friendly service ,staffs . Nice view with lovely beer !!!! Chill out here with ur partners 👍🏼
I’m gonna try all the beer next time, if take bus to there 😬
D. L.
It is a well known brewery in Hobart, Tasmania and its good tourist attraction. The brewery has free off site parking and Some visitor parking. It is situated at 131 Cascade Road, South Hobart, Tasmania.
They make beers and stout and it is a good attraction for anyone interested in beer.
B. S.
I have been there for lunch, beer factory touring and drinking beer. It was great experience to lear about how they make beer, how their built the factory, their story and got to drink many sort of beer there. for the luch the food was great , love it. I really love their Apple Cider. I had it more than 5 glasses. I prefer to have their beer for the tang more then a bottle. The taste much different.
L. F.
The staff are amazing the meal was delicious the garden's were spectacular we will definitely return
H. W.
Lovely garden, always come back just to immerse myself in it. The drinks are fresh and tasty and both the service and fireplace are warm :)
R.
Beautiful place, very historic and the gardens at the back of the restaurant section are magnificent!
D. S.
Great historical location. Be sure to book ahead for a tour. The brewery doesn't produce on the weekends, so go during the week if you'd like to see production.
A. L.
Booked a tour of the brewery as a must-see for our trip to Tasmania. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this experience. It was highly educational, full of history and unknown facts and was guided by the guy with long brown hair (apologies for not remembering his name) who was super friendly, accomodating and provided lots of laughable moments. After the tour we enjoyed a platter of cheese, meets and dips along with a tasting paddle out in the garden and enjoyed a long lunch to follow after. Amazing food, drinks and experience all round!
M. M.
Really informative tour, perfect scenery and no matter what your beer preferences are, you're going to have a delicious and fun filled time.
Get the tour in, you won't be disappointed!
T. T. R.
We did the family story tour with young kids, our tour guide Tara was very enthusiastic which adds to the story atmosphere. Wasn't disappointed. we learnt a lot about the history of the factory minus the taste testing. :) young kids. we even had the luck of being around when the beer pouring contest was on. Basically giving away beer, who could pour the best beer was the point. great day out a must see if in Hobart. Also had fantastic lunches.
M. O.
What a beautiful place for lunch. My family and I booked in for lunch on a Tuesday. My husband was happy with his tasting paddle, my boys aged 8 & 12 were happy with their burgers (the staff suggested we get them the adult menu ones as the kids ones were little, this was a great suggestion as neither of them struggled to finish it) The food was delicious and the atmosphere was good and the gardens just beautiful. We all really enjoyed visiting here for lunch. I even got a lovely glass of Tasmanian wine!
J. L.
intresting tour, friendly stuff, great beer
R. T.
Great brewery with fun staff. The tour got us an inside view of the beer manufacturing process. Get in on a bottle labeling day to see fast paced sed packing in action.
Big fancy garden and restaurant too.
D. W.
Incredible building and grounds, great beer! Food was amazing and a wide selection of beers and ciders to taste. A fantastic afternoon! Easily accessible by Red Decker Bus
G. M.
The tour is enjoyable and educational - and trying the drinks is even better than I imagined. Also, the restaurant makes great food.
A. M.
Love the relaxing atmosphere here at the Brewery Bar love visiting every chance I get
N. P.
We did a tour of the brewery and our guide was very knowledgeable. It was a little disappointing that the bottling room was not operating but the tastings after made up for it. Would definitely recommend the slow cooked beef in stout hotpot abd the stout ice cream! The bar gad a grest atmosphere and tge gardens outside are beautiful.
A. H.
Interesting, attractive place in a gorgeous setting at the foot of Mt. Wellington. The beaurocracy is a bit of a pain, however it is a work-place. Our guide was amusing and informative although she was a little hard to understand at some times! We had a very pleasant arvo, I liked the ciders which I do drink, but I’m not too fussed about the beers!
J. C.
Gardens are a delight to wander through
Food was excellent, highly recommend the stout pie and pies!
Staff are polite and friendly.
B. M.
Great place brewery tour is well worth the trip and very informative and great beer in the visitors centre
A. H.
Good place for a beer and a bite to eat. Didn't go on a tour but enjoyed the bar and the food available before taking a stroll through the English gardens the bar looks over. The bar staff were very knowledgeable and were able to talk me through all the beers available to provide a recommendation to match some food.
T. R.
Fantastic tour with Hamish, very informative. Price is very reasonable as well with 4 drinks included at the end, great finish, the barman, Josh, was also lovely and had good suggestions for a non beer drinker such as myself.
My fiance leaked that we got engaged a few days before, he's very excited, and the lovely staff, Leah, surprised us with a dessert to celebrate. All the staff have been absolutely amazing. Can't reccomened enough.
T. D.
Great food and beer. Tour is highly recommended
S. J.
Had a lovely brewery tour with Bridgette and the whole brewery experience with a great range of tasters at the end were totally awesome and definitely worth the trip. Great addition to our Tasmanian trip.
G. O.
Worth coming. Fresh beer, cider unmatched. Tour guide was humourous and knowledgeable, not to be missed if in Hobart
M. K.
The Cascade Brewery is a wonderful place with a tour and great tastings as well.
P. M.
We really enjoyed a walk around the gardens before going in and ordering some excellent hamburgers and a tasting paddle of cider and beers. The IPA was OMG!! The service staff were friendly and professional.
c. s.
Enjoyed beer tasting at this brew house, the setting is beautiful. Knowledgeable staf help with our selection of 4 beers. Enjoyed the beer very much. There is a restaurant for meals and snacks, but we didn't sample anything this time.
R.
If ever in Hobart this is a must do. The staff, food and beers were all exceptional. Kids enjoyed a run around the grounds after a hearty lunch. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
P. B.
The Cascade Brewery Bar is everything you could want in casual dining. The food and service were excellent with staff being particularly accommodating and professional. The venue is superb.
N. H.
Our party for 10 started indoors seated around one of the massive tables - after lunch we braves the cold and moved outdoors where the kids ran and explored the grounds so much, spotting paddymelons, that we stayed for 3 hours total. Great service. Friendly staff. Will be back next time we are in town.
K. S.
Beer range crisp, the stout is also good (similar to Tooheys Old)
Interesting the Chicago based Goose brewed here, was quite refreshing - v. clean water from the local mountain cascades
The tour was rather excellent, well informed with some local history thrown in too
K. R.
Being a sunday the production line was shut, but the tour guide took us into the plant and provided some good info. 30$ sounded alrite when they handed 4 trading coupons though 😀
D. s.
The best beer and food in Tasmania. Excelent trip around the brewery
G. A. P. R.
Awesome settings
Garden Bar and Gardens opposite brewery beautiful!
L. J.
Absolutely love this place. The combination of beers and surroundings is perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
A. M.
Very yummy burguers and beers. Recommended place to visit and enjoy
C. B.
beautiful view,if you really enjoy the history , you could join the tour , or you could have a lively meal here
M. T.
Great start to our trip to Hobart!
We entered the the beer pour competition but sadly lost in the finals. Great selection of beers in the beautiful brewhouse.
B. I.
Tour was short and sweet. Great venue and good service.
T. W.
Beautiful historic place! I came back the next day to try the stout beer ice-cream which was surprisedly sweet like a rich dark caramel ice-cream.
J. W.
A great place to stop and experience Australia’s first brewery and Australia’s second oldest business.
We had a great tour guide, James, he was knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Highly recommend checking this out
S. B.
Lovely gardens. Good food choices. Friendly staff.
B. N.
Great place to visit in Hobart (Tas). Tour was very informative. Try the beers in the relaxed bar. Very good beers to try. Goose Is (see pic) yummy! 😋 One word: Fresh
K. W.
Interesting tour and history of the brewery. Tour guide was fun and informative (but still a tour guide rather than a brewer).
D.
Great place!! Soo pretty and the gardens are amazing. The beers were not the major feature, just very standard lager
Y. H.
The best Brewery in Tasmania
E. M.
Nice brewery and garden. Staff are friendly and professional.
T. F. A.
First time at a brewery and amazing tour with a detail insight to the history of local beers and Hobart. $30 bucks for the tour and well worth the money spent. Highly recommend to visit this place if you are visiting Hobart.
K. D.
Great outlook over the gardens. Friendly courteous staff, awesome food.
D. T. A.
Great beer, great people, and a great property to lounge while drinking one of these fine brews!

The best beers in Australia served in one of the most beautiful places...
A. K.
Went for the brewery tour which was good as we got to see all the old machineries and the ones now. The 4-tasters of beer/cider was totally worth it. We ordered some food which was really good. The over all ambience, music and service from the staff was amazing!
D. C.
With the great range of beers and ciders accompanied by the stunning gardens and views of the brewery/mount Wellington it makes the greatest brewery in Australia. The staff are always super friendly and even offer you the chance at pouring your own beer for free (gotta love that!!!)
C. D.
Fantastic place, very interesting tour and amazing tasting!!! We love it! 🍻
K. S.
Absolutely LOVED the History Tour with Jacinta! Having done a few brewery tours in different countries I was a little over being asked again which 4 ingredients made beer and being shown the same equipment every other brewery had with the only difference being potentially the scale.
Not a single foot stepped into the brewery and yet it was one of the most informative and best conducted tours! We loved Jacinta’s energy and humour in which she passed on her wealth of knowledge about Cascade. We will be urging people to take part in this! Definitely a MUST DO in Hobart for us!
S. B.
Cascade brewery is a great place to go enjoy a good beer and some nice food with it. They have a great garden which allows the entire family to sit, relax and enjoy the drinks and food (great open space for children to play too)
O. M.
Beautiful location, great beers and friendly staff
A. C.
Nice place, good food, and the best beer. You can book their guided tour to learn about the Brewery's history. I recommend booking a table for the weekend, as it can be very crowded. Specially nice to sit outside during the summer time.
K. T.
Lovely brews for sale, food enjoyable and staff really friendly. Lovely history of the brewery on show but sad they suffered such a devastating fire all those years ago.
K. C.
Finished off our Tassie trip with the Brewery tour. Lucinda was a great tour guide - balance between history, brewing process knowledge and cracked a few jokes too! Highly recommend for all types of groups.
K. T.
Great beer, fantastic food and the gardens are worth seeing.
D. E.
The food is wonderful with so many excellent choices and the gardens outside create a wonderful atmosphere.
M. P.
Great tour. Interesting mix of old structures and modern production equipment. Nice spread of various beers and ciders to try too.
C. B.
Loved it!!! Great vibe, great beers! The staff are by far the most accommodating that I have experienced. If you're in Hobart for great food and beer, there's no reason not to visit!
E. P.
Good pub to enjoy some tap beer. Food wise, so so.
L.
Stopped here for a cider and a cheese board and we were very pleased! Wanted to see the ghost tour but it wasn’t running that day :/ bummer - anyways not to dwell on the past, this place is cute and quaint! On your way out go through the small garden out the back
M. A.
Great food, view and beer
G. M.
This is a "must see" for any trip to Tasmania. The brewery tour is great and includes a tasting at the end. Every staff member I dealt with was so friendly and clearly passionate about the place. Bridget was an absolute dream to deal with. The food thoroughly exceeded my expectations, the Cascade Stout soaked porterhouse would be worth coming for on its own.
I couldn't recommend this place enough!
S. S.
Great atmosphere and live music. Parmigiana was great.
J. H.
Tasty Brews in Glorious Garden setting overlooking the Historic Cascade Brewery.
Staff so friendly and the café/ restaurant has a delicious menu
L. C.
Nice new look, with more seating these days. Menu a bit limited, but we were happy with our Salmon and Parmy. It's a bit noisy with music and chatter, but the staff were friendly! Beautiful outlook and lovely gardens.
K. D.
great beer on tap, beautiful garden with bulp lights..
t. c.
Amazing tour, very interesting and done with lots of enthusiasm. A very nice drink with a lovely meal. The salmon was very nice. A nice day out in beautiful surrounds.
R. T.
Good selection of beers. Gardens are great to wander through. Sadly had to miss the 'beer pulling' comp at 4pm!
J. B.
Lovely place, friendly staff, great beers. Well be back to sample the food!
C. T.
We toured Australia's oldest brewery what can I say? The tour guide had a lot to say and gave us a fantastic overview of the operation of the brewery.
V. H.
Well could have missed this tour did walk through the factory but did not see anything working the best part the beer pouring contest at 4pm each day.
E. C.
Good food, nice selection of local drinks and fun souvenirs to buy.
J. M.
Lovely place steeped with a lot of history. Dont know what the beers tasted like but the apple ciders were very nice..
T. P.
Awesome History and beautiful scenery " A must see !!!!
T. M.
One of the lovelier and more interesting breweries I’ve visited. A nice selection of beers and ciders to try and be sure to have some of the stout ice cream before leaving.
P. L.
Tour was very informative, great to see the inside workings... guide Denver was interesting and easy to understand... especially for a non beer drinker with no idea
R. P.
Very enjoyable, the tour was great and the beer is good!
A. P.
Stopped in for a quick bite on the way to Mt Wellington and thoroughly enjoyed the meals... One of the best burgers I've had - with a very juicy pattie. The battered chips topped off a great lunch stop, as did the locally made apple cider on tap! Sadly the last tour of the day was already fully booked, but it leaves us something to do next time!
J. O.
The staff made us chips despite having just closed the kitchen. A good beer and cider selection at the bar, especially for interstate people.
B. A.
There’s so many things I like about this place. First it’s so near from the town centre, just 10min drive. The location is easily accessible. The restaurant, well situated inside or dine out al fresco or in the garden overlooking the the old brewery building. The service from the moment we walked-in(mind you we just rackup with no booking) She let us seat where we conveniently want to. So relaxing. The lady who served us was very accomodating. I found the Menu surprisingly well priced, coming from Melbourne, they are very reasonable for a location like this with historic view and Mt Wellington. Love the Bangers and mash, Caesar salad, Brisket, Choc parfait with raspberry sorbet and B&B pudding. Drinks, tasters beer a must try. Overall it was a VERY pleasant experience one will always remember.
M. G.
Fantastic! Loved it. Great staff. We had a bloke named Sam. Super friendly, relaxed and very informative. Great history about the factory. And free beer at the end!!
A. “. C.
Fantastic food and scenery. Also, great beer too
B. S.
Wasn't able to do the tour (had young kids with me) but the set up is awesome and the building itself is amazing. Well worth a visit!
B. M.
Didn't have a chance to do the tour. But the bar was great. Beautiful atmosphere to enjoy some good food and do a tasting paddle 😊
R. D.
Absolutely amazing brewery, great beers, ciders and food! The smell of the fresh air and views make this one the most scenic brew houses worldwide. When visiting Tasmania be sure to check it out or you'll be bummed that you didn't.
J. P.
What a great place ! Good tour of the place ...didn't know so much of it was kept in Tassie !
M. N.
A historical place you can't miss when you visit Hobart. Beautiful history, beautiful drinks and beautiful garden that you will never forget when you have chance to come here once.
L. W.
Truly amazing place. Steeped in history. Great staff. Great Beers. Great variety of meals.
Do yourself a favour, take the brewery tour.
M. Y.
Staff were very professional, thank you so much :) Will be back to try one of the brewery tours.
m. l.
We had lunch at the Brewery recently, the food was good but spoilt by the fact that we had to queue for food and drinks. This might be OK for some, but when you are elderly and on a walker and the queue is very long it is not so good. Then to have a group of three able bodied people jump in front of you that is not OK. The staff just served them as if that was the way things were.
S. N.
Great tour. Love getting around on the explore hobart
M. B.
Nice gardens nice staff, awesome tour, good beer!
P. W.
Best beer , best chips and atmosphere of Tasmania!
B. P.
Brilliant. Our tour even went overtime, as our tour guide was passionate about the product, and brewing in general. The tour was informative, both about the brewery and the process. It ends with a tasting of beers of your choice. One of the best brewery/distillery tours I have done.
R. L.
Nice spot for lunch and beer
B. L.
So good to go on a brewery tour that was actually in the brewery. We had a nice small group so we were able to have a really personalised experiences with the tour guide. Plus tasting all the beers at the end is always the best part :p
Loved the Mercury Hard Cider! So clean and smooth.
We also stuffed ourselves full of food, now to roll home and nap off all this beer!
A. L.
Really insightful tour around how beer is made, as well as walking through the actual brewery. Also a great ending with some tokens to try beer made from the brewery at the end - part of the ticket price! James, the tour guide, was also full of facts and Tasmanian history!
C. S.
Wow! Fantastic views, great quality food and possibly the best beer garden we have ever sat in. The staff are so kind and made our Sunday sesh most excellent. Big thumbs up from Perth travellers 😎
M. P.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Cascade Brewery. The parmas were a hit and the GF options were also delish. The mussels and salmon didn’t disappoint. Potato cakes are to die for and are a must! Friendly and attentive staff who provided efficient service. The pale ale was our favourite beer!
E. D.
The staff were super friendly and happy to pass on recommendations. I decided to the pie which was tops and matched it with a cider 😉 The grounds are nice for a walk around after our meal. Plenty of parking to the right if u miss or can't get a spot on the left hand side of the road.
N. P.
Beautiful setting. Even if you aren't a beer enthusiast it's a nice place for lunch with quality food and espresso martini on tap!
R. A. (.
Nice spot to relax and enjoy a couple of cold ones directly across from the brewery 👌🏼
The staff were very friendly and welcoming!
A. M.
Great place to visit, the tour was interesting as much as the tasting session. 👍
V. V.
Enjoyed this however being the weekend the plant wasn't operational. I would have liked to see the packaging operational. Lots of stairs worth considering if you have any issues. I suffer from a foot condition and I did still managed them.
U. H.
Thanks to Lucinda, our host while at the brewery! The tour was fun, and the beer was great. You do get to sample quite a but of beer at the end so the entry fee turns out to not be too steep. The beer garden is a lovely place to enjoy the locally brewed beer. Definitely try the sessuon IPA!
R. R.
Great food and even better brews. Our tour guide Lucinda still holds her Irish charm and was very informative. The gardens outside overlooking the brewery provide a picturesque landscape to settle in for a session. Would be even better if the beers were shipped to Queensland to keep enjoying:)
s. s.
Enjoyed the afternoon at Cascade Brewery, including the History and Brewing Experience tour.
Informative tour of the brewery, finished off with a tasting paddle (4x200ml servings)
Very enjoyable, would recommend.
The cascade pale ale was very good.
Food at the on site cafe was also very good.
J. Y.
Must stop and try the apple cider! What a great place for relaxing!
B. A.
Had a wonderful time at Cascade Brewery! Lots of outdoor seating areas to enjoy your beers. Nice gardens to walk through. Make sure to book your tours online and have fun! Great for people of all ages :)
K. D.
The gardens and outside of the brewery were beautiful. The tour was very disappointing and overpriced. We didn't see much at all, 3 rooms, a shed where the truck gets loaded, a room with 3 big vats and a small area where we smelt different containers for taste. The information was great but could easily be done in a more comfortable and less noisy room prior to the "tour".
B. K.
Really great tour, and the food is great. Be at the bar at 4pm for a beer pouring competition and free drinks!
R. L.
Good pub kinda grub.
Better on a clear day.
J. G.
Great food Fantastic service
I. B.
Gorgeous brewery with great beers, atmosphere and decent food! Nice garden, too!
z. l.
great beer/cider tasting experience with the brewery tour. nice food and the gin pop up was a welcome addition to the beautiful garden when i visited!
R. J.
Fantastic place to visit! Don't leave Hobart without passing through for a tour and a few sneaky beers!
O. C. S.
Recommended Food: Potato wedges and Tasman pizzeria.
Recommended beers: Mercury Hard, and Cascade stout
(Personal preference)
M.
There is some great history here, beautiful gardens and historic buildings. My partner and I did the tour, and while the guide was great, the experience is a bit lacking in comparison to other tours of breweries I have done. It’s essentially only three rooms with an information dump on the brewing process. It would have been good to see the bottling process or something more. It may not be possible due to safety etc, but I have seen it at other breweries around Australia. Maybe it was a time of no action, or we went on a day where stuff wasn’t happening.
The staff and the beer were great, it’s definitely a nice spot. My review is only 3 due to the tour.
B. M. (.
Our most excellent brewery tour guide, Denver, was worth his weight in beer! Cheers
J. L.
Had the lunch special - a rib-eye steam, medium rare, and it was fantastic! An outstanding selection of beers and ciders, a magnificent view and a great tour of the brewery over the road. A must-do for any Hobart visit.
L. B.
Ordered two Parmis and a beer
Beer was forgotten but luckily came out exact time as meal so that was nice. Chips were cold and parmi was dry and over cooked. Was sent to edge of bar to get my own water bottle, when none had been made. I get you’re busy just ya know hire more staff maybe?
BIG ISSUE for the pot and pouches ‘event’ wouldnt call three stalls an event but anyway, have a banner or something at the front car park on house to get there. Very intimidating arriving with dogs and only seeing the inside areas of the restaurant and no sign of other dogs. (Event was down a path around the back)
M. D.
Great food, beer and wines. Indoor dining or outdoors in the wonderful gardens. Also musical entertainment.
J. M.
My son and I did the tour of the Cascade brewery. Colonial history and applied science followed by a guided tasting. The guide was friendly and well spoken. The gardens are beautiful and while we didn't eat the food looked excellent. Highly recommended if you are in Hobart.
B. K.
Oldest brewery in Tasmania and definitely one of the best. All the beers your need and the atmosphere is top notch. There’s plenty of seating inside and out and plenty of areas to explore. If you can, do the tour to learn more about the gnarly brewery! They also serve goose island beer out of Chicago... definitely try those.
T. (.
Delicious food, great drinks
F. S.
The brewery tour was well worth the money. We had a small group of 3 people taken through each stage of the brewing process, right in the brewery itself.
As a coeliac (can’t drink beer) the tour was still really enjoyable and I was able to choose from 5 different ciders to taste at the end of the tour, instead of beer.
We stayed for lunch outside in the sun before walking through the garden. Perfect!
E. J.
I didn't go on a tour of the brewery but had food and drinks in the cafe/bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was really great quality for the price, couldn't fault it. And of course we also enjoyed our beer and cider. They do the paddle tasting boards which are great for trying a few different beers. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
J. A.
The tour is fantastic, a good way to learn the history of the brewery and the area. Well worth a visit.
C. S.
Fantastic fish and chips, actual beer battered obviously.
Beer is excellent
M. B.
We had a great time on our brewery tour! Our tour guide Lucinda was very friendly and knowledgable and we learnt a lot about the history of Cascade and the brewing process. At the end of the tour we were able to try 4 of the drinks which was a great addition to end the tour. I would definitely recommend and would love to do the tour again!
J. A.
Just great. The best pie mush peas and mash for years.
T. L.
The tour was fantastic. We learned a lot about the place and the entire process. Tasting the malts and smelling the hop really shows you how the different beers get their flavour. Food was amazing and so were all the ciders I tasted and the beers my partner tried. Would highly recommend.
P.s. You must try the Stout pie
J. S.
Went on the 5.30pm Cascade brewing tour with Denver and it was awesome! Packed a lot of information on the history of Cadcade and the backstage processes of brewing into the hour and made the journey easy to understand and really enjoyable. Cleanest beer in the world, well worth the visit!
L. C. F.
We went for a brewery tour and decided to have lunch over there. Food was pleasant and service was great, although it was very busy on that day, staffs were really friendly and helpful. A very nice outdoor seating area with pleasant garden views.
A. R.
Lovely place with a family for a day trip!!
J. S.
Friendly staff, lovely setting, delicious food and drink
B. P.
Went to the Cascade Brewery as one of my first experiences in Hobart. Denver was succinct, to the point and very informative and knowledgeable about the brewing process whilst remaining entertaining throughout. Darren was both knowledgeable and friendly as well, particularly whilst describing the different flavour profiles of the various beers on offer in the brew house. Would highly recommend.
B. G.
Had a spare afternoon in Hobart so decided to check out the Cacade Brewery Tour. Having never been on a brewery tour before I was very impressed by our tour guide Beau. The tour itself was educational and we were kept entertained with tales of it’s interesting history. Finished the afternoon with a beer/cider tasting and snacks at the restaurant. Would highly recommend.
R. M.
Staff were so helpful. Great experience with Leah and another fellow behind the bar (he’s lived in tassy all his life and talked about the history and beers with me). They both went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable as we have a 2 year old who wasn’t in the best of moods. Food was great. Beers fresh.
S. F.
The Cascade Brewery was a terrific experience for any beer lover. Knowledgeable staff and a variety of beers means you're in for a great time. I'll let you all know how the tour goes shortly, but even without that, it's worth the visit.
j. b.
Really enjoyed the different beers Cascade has to offer. Only ever drank Cascade light before. Really enjoyed the tour, Bridget was great and really knowledgeable. Great setup, garden is nice and good spot to relax and unwind, and learn what happens at the cascade brewery
C. B.
While the location has upgraded since my last visit and looks great, the food has taken a massive nosedive. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, great location.
Shame the food was awful, unfortunately will not be returning any time soon.
M. P.
We had Darren give us a tour and it was fantastic - both super informative and totally entertaining! Getting to relax with a few great beers and ciders and listen to live music afterwards was just the icing on the cake. I highly recommend it!
k.
Really informative tour. Thoroughly enjoyed and well worth the money as you can choose to taste any four beers at the end. Helpful organising as we had an online voucher but they were happy to help us sort a convenient time.
s. a.
Fantastic range of beers and a fine view of the historic brewery. Can't wait to go back.
M. S. K.
Lovely spot to enjoy Tassie air and clean water brewed to perfection! We enjoyed very much their beer battered Pink Ling!
A. V.
Easy booking, great garden views, drink and food. Perfect for a cold, rainy day. Loved the warm mead.
K. B.
Did a tour - well worth it! The food was delicious but a little slow in coming so make sure you allow enough time.
D. K. O.
Great venue for an event, even when pouring rain. Staff looked after us very well! And the food was amazing.
Y. D. S.
This place is fantastic!! It is a must when you come visit in Hobart and take a tour inside the historic Brewery still in operation. The beer taste is so good, gives you the chance to try original and unique flavours from this brewery. Really happy about it
A. L.
Great place for a drink, food is tasty, generous serves.
T. B.
Beautiful food. Nice walk around there
M. W.
Good food, drink and service. The company needs to look into upgrading the car park and bathrooms as they are a stark contrast to the beautiful restaurant and gardens.
V. C.
Interesting place, the visit is nice! Answer questions of the guide to get more beers at the end of the tour. Stay until 4PM to enjoy the beer pouring contest!
Has a lot of good beers to discover, some of whom you can only drink in Tasmania!
M. G.
Absolutely amazing experience whilst visiting Tasmania. Did the tour tasted some beer and sat down to an amazing lunch. If your down it’s well worth a stop in and taste. I don’t normally name names but Bridgette was an exceptional tour guide and made the experience all the more fun.
A. A.
Absolutely loved my visit to Cascade brewery! The view from the garden is unbelievable and the beer is over the top. I also had a go at the very fun beer pulling contest which is absolutely free to participate in. Definitely a must visit while in Hobart.
J. M.
I really enjoyed the history and learning about the brewery process. Very hands on and great value considering you get a tour and a tasting paddle of 4 beers. Great for uni students as you get a discount too 👍. Lucinda was an awesome tour guide! And Bridgette is the best.
J. R.
Lovely bit of Beer History
D. O.
Visited today for a tour with work. The tour guide was very informative and gave some insightful history about the founder through to current times.
We were given drink tokens and came back in the afternoon to sit on the lawns, listen to live music and sink a couple of beers.
N. P.
Best tasting paddle ever and great food!
L. T.
Beautiful building and you can smell the beer as you approach. They also do delicious cider on tap. You can eat lunch there/try the beers and ciders or do a tour of the brewery. Unfortunately this tourist group arrived and we witnessed some really really unpleasant behaviour which put us right off of our food ☹️
J. M.
Friendly helpful staff, great beer and a really good garlic pizza. An amazing view of the beautiful cascade Brewery building . The whole visit was fun including the beer pulling contest. Well worth visiting when coming to Hobart.
J. B.
Great place, awesome tours/tour guide, good food, great cider. Nice little garden on the side.
I. G.
Nice enough but doesn't have the same appeal/feel (to me) as the smaller micro-brewery scene and that comes through in the beer and atmosphere. It's basically not that cool. Best part of the place is the gardens, which are brilliant for a nice beer in the sun.
K. D.
Had an absolutely lovely time. Friendly and knowledge staff. Great atmosphere. Well ad beautiful grounds.
Would love to come back for a tour!
S. T.
Took the brewery experience tour and learned the finer points of beer brewing. The beer tasting at the end was a good bonus. Lucinda was informative but it was a slightly difficult to hear at times, especially at the bar (which was a bit noisy).
Definitely worth a visit if in Hobart.
J. B.
Really nice coffee and sweets; really recommend the wedges with beef. Spectacular view of the tremendous Cascade Brewery and Mount Wellington. Very peaceful in the gardens.
l. p. s.
Very informative tour, great beer, magnificent views. What else can you ask for!!
R. M.
Food was great! Portions were outstanding and the chips were the best!
R. H.
Live Jazz on a Sunday. Beautiful way to end the weekend, lovely lush lawn to relax on, great menu and beer
E. C.
Plenty of beers for tasting after join the tour...awesome experiences I’ve ever had.
A. S.
An absolutely amazing tour, and excellent brewhouse. We loved the level of detail and expertise our tour guide showed, and of course, the beers and ciders at the end were delicious!
M. B.
Fabulous tour and tasting. Learn what beers are created in this historical brewery that started their craft in 1824.
A. R.
Very good place for a trip, very good staff, we were late for the tour and they could still fit us in, highly reccomend going.
A. Z.
Just experienced a very informative tour with Denver, and to top it all off some great Tasmanian beer tastings .
C. F.
Friendly staff, beautiful gardens, great food.
S. S.
Awesome experience. Nice food and good selection of beers and ciders , nice garden area for the photo enthusiasts. Definitely worth a go.
F. M. P.
Great brewery, beautiful location, very interesting tour, the tour guide was helpful and funny.
You get free beer tasting tokens for every right answer during the tour, so pay attention and you'll get extra beer afterwards!
I definitely recommend a visit while you're in Hobart!
A. U.
This place is amazing! Such history and great beer. The tasting room is across from the original building, so you can gaze at the oldest brewery in Australia! Can’t recommend the beer, service, and ambiance enough.
T. H.
Very good environment. Relaxing place
L. C.
We joined the tour here on the foothills of Mt Wellington on the recommendation of a friend and boy did it deliver. Our tour guide Denver was highly knowledgeable and full of amusing anecdotes about the oldest continuously brewing brewery in Aus. Throw in a tasting and some honest food and this place is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
L. D.
Great place with a friendly casual vibe. Tour guide was very informative, just a shame the brewery wasn’t operating during our tour.
C. R.
Amazing atmosphere, lots of great food to be had and some amazing beer as well, service is quite fast and the staff and service are very good as well. Great place to visit with either family or friends and a good way to spend the afternoon.
P. S.
Great and affordable food. Don't pass up the opportunity to try their beer/cider tasting paddles. Really enjoyed my experience here with the family.
A. H.
Lovely lunch while we waited for a tour of the brewery - excellent hour, well spent listening to the friendly tour guide explain the storied history of both the founder and the brewery itself, along with a look inside, and a taste of 4 brews. Well worth the visit!
G. R.
Visited Tasmania for the first time being in Australia for last 10 years. Always loved the Cascade Lager n Pale Ale but today ticked it off my bucket list, drinking it straight off the tap at the Cascade brewery.
It's the oldest brewery of Australia 1824 and what's amazing is it's still operational and is well maintained for day tours, tastings and gourmet style dine in options. Spent an hour as was time bound, but lived every moment 🤟🤟🤟🤟 Highly recommended
E. L.
Went there with my wife. Oldest beer brewery in Australia, nice food n lovely beer if you go for the taste n the tour was sufficiently educational. Tour guide explained the process of beer making . Some history explained n a nice garden to be enjoyed.
Downside of the tour? The tour guide was largely talking to himself going at 100 mph blindsiding many in the tour group. When we are speaking, we need to address the needs of our audience. This bloke was cracking his own jokes n he was laughing away while his listeners remained nonplussed.
C. S.
Nice friendly staff, fantastic food at a great price, great atmosphere and unique beverages. Beer garden out the back is a must see. 10/10 would come here again
D. S.
food is really good, portions are big and the staff is super accommodating and friendly!! would recommend for other tourists to come by especially if they like beer 😊
K. C.
Beer, beer and more delicious beer - so much to choose from and so many interesting flavours. Well done to the Management and Brewers for making so many people happier! Great indoor and outdoor relaxed setting, which together with the Beer, makes you want to stay longer - thank you.
C. P.
Great history, beer and staff. Enjoyable food with picture perfect views.
M. B.
Tour was very informative and we'll run. Good to hear the history of the place as well as how the brewery has grown and how it runs today. 4 ratings included in your are full sized pots, was expecting little shot sized tasters.
Food is reasonably priced and looks good.
Well worth the trip if in Hobart. Not too far out of the city.
c. R.
Had the best tour today. We had James as our tour guide with Beau also hanging about. James did such a fantastic job and had tons of great trivia. Such a great tour guide. I’d recommend trying to get him as your tour guide if you can!!! 10/10 would come back.
Plus the beer and cider is delicious!!!!
THANKS JAMES!!!
(Too poor to piss in = best line ever) 😂
K. K.
We attended an historic and beer tasting tour, followed by lunch on December 14th. The tour guide, facts and figures were great. Gardens beautiful. Food and Beer produced onsite just wonderful. The setting is terrific for an afternoon to relax stress free. Well recommended. Ken South Australia
g. k.
First time in Tasmania, had to visit this brewery! And the experience was totally worth it,l. Even if you don't take the tour you can definitely chill at the bar and taste some amazing beers! When in Hobart do visit here!
R. O.
Had a wonderful tour of this brewery. I work as a bartender so it was very fascinating to learn how some of the beers I serve are actually brewed. Cheers to Belle and Darren for being amazing tour guides!
C. C.
Had an amazing experience on a tour of Australia's oldest continuous brewery with our guide Bridgette. Tour was funny and informative, with plenty of beer tokens to be won as well. The beer and cider is excellent also.
M. T.
Had a very good experience today with our tour guide Lucinda. She explained everything in detail and let us all ask as many questions as we needed too. Wonderful tour and would recommend it, beautiful building and you get to finish off with a couple of nice cold beers.

Second time in Tasmania, first time bringing my partner. Our first activity was the Cascade Brewery tour and we couldn't be more impressed. Darren and Denver were informative and beyond helpful during our experience. Every question was answered and each step of the brewing process was broken down for our understanding. They even went as far as creating our end-of-tour tasting palettes. A perfect start to our holiday, thank you.
R. F.
The Brewery has a bar and a restaurant inside that you cannot miss. We had a jug of Cascade beer with a nice pizza - it was such a pleasant stop over. Unfortunately we missed the last tour around the brewery but the place around looks magic.
R. A.
Great tour, amazing tour guide and beautiful gardens! Great place to come have a drink and some food. Highly recommend.
M. F.
I came here for lunch and it surprised me with how Cascade Brewery looks inside. The garden is lush, green and scattered with water features. The food was sensational. We especially loved the stout scones- well worth the price! On the day we arrived (Sunday), a bbq lunch was also an option, in addition to their menu. They had a great jazz band playing in the garden and the atmosphere was chilled. Well worth a visit- oh and grab a beer! Yum!
T. G.
The place is so friendly, I didn't go on the tour, but I heard it was a great learning experience. The food variety is great and pricing very affordable. I absolutely recommend it
J. P. M.
I absolutely love the place! Great vibes and very polite customer service. Nice scenery and awesome food.
M. G.
Cascade brewery is a stunning site with some very interesting history! Took a tour of the brewery, had a fantastic tour guide who was very knowledgeable, finishing off the tour with some tastings was a great was to conclude our visit to the brewery! A must see when visiting Hobart in Tasmania! Food was great from the Brewhouse. Would definitely recommend taking a visit to the Cascade Brewery.

Beautiful brewery to visit.

I really liked the brewery I missed the tour though but I manage to do some beer testing. They do have a collection of beers which you can't find in mainland Australia and a nice little shops which you can buy some for souvenir.
R. L.
Amazing how old this brewery is. Great tour with really good info about the beer brewing process. Lovely grounds to have a beer or cider in afterwards. The free tastings after the tour make it brilliant value.
A. H.
A great and informative tour of Australia’s oldest continuously running brewery and second oldest running business. Wonderful setting looking over the gardens with the brewery facade in the background to enjoy a few drops afterwards as well. Highly recommend.

Great hospitality, fun place

Amazing tour of Brewery. Tour guide Bridgette was great with loads of information on history of Brewery and beers. Enjoyed immensely, would recommend must do your for everyone who visits Hobart.
K. M.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Lucinda was a great guide! Time it so you can have lunch at the end of the tour, one of the best meals we have had in Hobart!
D.
Awesome tour, as a local I’ve left it far too long to visit.
Thanks to our guide Denver

The brewery tour was an amazing experience with a wonderful finish with four tastes of different beers. My favorite was the stout and although we didn’t try the food, looked stupendous.
B. G.
The staff were informative, but even admitted that there was not much going on. The tour took us to two back rooms, and showed none of the working factory. You do get four free tasters at the end - and the beer pulling competition on daily at 4pm give your the chance at another free tester. Still, $30 for five beers seems expensive.

Taking the Cascade brewery tour is a great way to experience one of Australia’s oldest brewerys. Aside from the magnificent stone building with views of Mt Wellington, the informative tour ends with tastings of the locally brewed collection of beers and ciders in a scenic garden with excellent food options available. A must for anyone visiting Hobart!

Gorgeous area, stunning brewery and gardens. The tour was really fun and super informative, highly recommend if you love beer!
V. S.
Very good beer.
I did the beer school, and even though I am German, I learned many things. The beer they have is good. There are some flat or lame beers, but most of them are first class. The staff are always friendly and the prices are pretty normal. As I was the only one who booked the beer school that day, I had plenty of beer wo try. It was well worth it.
M. S.
Fantastic Beer School with Tara. More than a tour and a beer pour attempt! Such a great experience.
L. F.
Awesome site with a great selections of beers and ciders. Well worth the trip if you’re in town
M. G.
The beef and Cascade Stout beer pie is an absolute standout! Great selection of mains, beers and it's child-friendly
R. S.
The tour represents a great day out in Hobart! Hear fascinating stories about the breweries past and learn all about the brewing process from start to finish. Stop by the visitors centre after for a lovely cold beer (or two) and lunch!
N. S.
The historical site is a must see if you travel to Hobart. The beer tour is informative and your guide Iris made the session feel more like a live comedy set. Great value and would highly recommend.
Fun fact: cascade beers are only manufactured for consumption by the Tasmanian population. You can definately taste the difference from mainland production.

I'll start by acknowledge that my visit was not perfect but I am giving 5 stars because the good things about Cascade Brewery severely outweigh the bad.
We went on the tour and our tour guide had great enthusiastic energy, a great sense of humour and an unbelievable wealth of knowledge of the history of the brewery and it's workings.
When we returned we ordered food, we were politely warned it could be a long wait, but our food arrived lightning fast and was incredibly delicious.
When our food arrived I was in a long line for drinks (it was very busy NYE) And a very lovely and hard working waitress tapped me on the shoulder to offer to get my drinks so I could eat my food whilst it was still warm. To this waitress, whoever you are, you are one of the kindest and hardest working people I've ever observed. I saw this waitress make several back and forth trips carrying more than I ever could, every single time.
The downside to the brewery was a very cranky man behind the bar. Understandably it was very busy but this gentleman appeared to put zero effort into hiding his anger, which for some reason seemed to be directed at customers.
11/10 would come back
11/10 would avoid cranky bar boy
11/10 would ask the waitress to adopt me

Heard the restaurant was good but didn’t have much time so was gonna skip. Turned out had some time to kill before heading to the airport so stopped in for a quick bite. Absolutely stunning grounds, even had a bunny jumping around near the fountain. Great food and beers as promised.
K. C.
Great informative tour, good value with drinks and tasty food. Would recommend. Beautiful setting too.
J. W.
Just went on their amazing Brewery tour worth every penny!
J. K.
Awesome experience and even better location, very knowledgeable tour guides Darren and Lucinda, that were willing to stop and answer questions when needed. Over all 10/10 experience.
d. h.
Great tour of Cascade Brewery, Bridgett was our guide to the history and beer making and made it fun and informative. Just taking in the vista of the Brewery, gardens and Mount Wellington made the visit completely worthwhile.
D. W.
We walked from Hobart to the Cascade Brewery, so the beer & cider certainly hit the spot when we arrived. Although we did not do the brewery tour, we sat in the beautifly manicured gardens & enjoyed a delicious lunch and a few different beers & ciders while watching a fantasic jazz band playing on the lawn. Even if you aren't into beer, they have a selection of wines & a great food menu. If you visit Hobart, the Cascade Brewery is a must.

Really good tour, beers were slightly to warm coming out of the tap. But beautiful food and atmosphere!

My partner and I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon here. We missed out on the brewery tour but did have a chance to do the beer school.
The beers and food were great and the staff are amazing.
Will definitely come back when in Tasmania again.

Had a lovely time! Came to try the beers and they did not disappoint! The gardens are beautiful and the beer tasting paddle is a fantastic option. Well priced and good quality place. Definitely would recommend!

Didn’t expect the food to be good at the brewery. I was indeed wrong. Had the calamari salad and it was tender and well cooked. Husband had the risotto which was equally delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly.
M. R.
We loved everything! Beautiful space, the old building and the new bar, the gardens, the food and the service. Super generous servings and very tasty.
J. R.
Very interesting tour. Covered all aspects of brewing very well.
Tasting afterwards was great. Good service and even better beers.
M. C.
Don't miss this on your Hobart visit, great tour very informative tour of an active working brewery, and the bonus- finishes with a tasting, well worth the time and the $30 bucks., Our tour guide Bridgette was tops and I would say we even learnt some stuff.
M. W.
Great place, awesome beer at a really cozy location and garden. Great staff and service with good food.
S. T.
Had nice day at cascade, weather is so nice and we enjoy the tour. Iris is very informative and passionate, we learnt lots of thing about making beer. Love the free drink after tour, bonamy's cider is my favorite.
G. E.
Great tour this afternoon with Iris 👌

Had a wonderful day at the Cascade Brewery. The tour is fantastic (make sure you book beforehand - they only have a few a day) - our guide, Leigh, was a funny, friendly, and very informative. And what's not to like about finishing the tour with samples of the local beers, ciders, and soft drinks? These include some that are exclusive to Tasmania, and are delicious :-P Good food, too!
The gardens are also beautiful, and it's worth taking the Rivulet track back to the CBD.
D. R.
Our guide was incredibly informative and interactive with the group. It was great value to do the tour and it included ponies at the end. It was my favourite thing we did in Hobart today.
S. P.
Loved the tour, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Recommend entering the beer pouring contest.

Certainly one of the better breweries in Australia!
I have done the tour before and do recommend it if it is your first time.
This time visiting Tasmania was purely to do a bit of work but mostly a bit of R&R and what better way than sampling some of Tasmania's if not Australia's best beers!
The fella behind the bar did sort of look disinterested with me but once prodded with a few questions he opened right up and showed a great display of knowledge of beers & ciders available to try!
It is a great venue for functions including weddings in the heritage gardens, it is always a truly unique experience whenever I visit cascade Brewery.
I am not a beer expert so I will keep my judgement to myself, however, i will say that I tried the Cascade Bitter, Cascade Lager, Cascade Pale Ale and Cascade Stout and enjoyed each and everyone of them.
Cascade Bitter & Lager are only available in Tasmania only.
Cascade Brewery has plenty of ciders to try too if that is your thing! :)
When in Tasmania I always try and pop in for a sample or too, perfect in any weather!

Beautiful building and interesting tour. Bridget was such a good and funny tour guide!
The brewery is good to reach by car or also by walking.
J. M.
Did the tour, very informative and enjoyable. $30 per adult with an in depth background of the business and how they were founded. With 4 free small drinks after the tour to boot!
S. F.
Loved the brewery tour! Would highly recommend anyone to do it if you're in Hobart. You can easily catch the local bus which drops you at the door from Salamanca market. At the end of the tour make sure you get yourself a Cascade lager! It's tippytop
l. m.
It's a beautiful place, nice to see the history. We did the tour, I was kind of disappointed with the lack of information on the actual brewing process and would have like to at least seen something being bottled, even a video display..
It is good at the end you get a decent amount to sample so that makes the visit worthwhile. Check it out if you're around with time to spare.
Also just behind the brewery there is a nice walking trail that some may enjoy.
M. G.

Amazing local beer with views to die for! We'd have liked to tried the food, but we were too late and the kitchen was shut. However, the beers & ciders are killer. So, do it for sure!

Fantastic opportunity to visit and tour the home of Cascade. Informative tour and tasting to finish. Reasonably priced and why not have a meal in the restaurant before heading home. Just do it.
