N. N.Great little pub! My husband & I stopped in here for dinner whilst walking past. Wonderful friendly & fast service, Great meals, big portions & tasty, extensive menu & wonderful set out - I felt like I was on a ship! I would have given it 5 stars if their beer menu was a bit broader. They had a sign outside advertising Guinness, yet sadly didn’t have any… we’ll be back though to experience more on the menu. Maybe please broaden your beer menu in the meantime…? Thankyou.
g.We had our Christmas work lunch at the Ocean Child today and it was fantastic. The efficiency of the staff was amazing, the food was great, the beer fresh and cold. Everyone (12 of us) was happy with their meals, they came out quickly and there were lots of choices. I highly recommend this pub.
A. S. P.Visited this place several time. Never disappointed. The menu (I personally love the salt & pepper squid, smokey pork bbq ribs, panko crumb calamari) size is generous, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
There was one dessert I couldn't find it in the menu anymore (you may check with the staff whether they still have this dish) - it looked like fried dumplings with nutella filling, served with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious! The savoury taste of the dumpling's skin combine with the sweetness of warm, melted nutella, combined with vanilla ice cream - will give you mood booster and happy tummy 😊
R. D.What a top experience from start to finish. We were greeted warmly by a friendly waitress and seated at a nice table. I had the Shanks and my meat was soft and tender. My mate had the Steak and even though my meal was delicious, I still had a bit of food envy it was epic. We got the Garlic Bread to start and it was so good that a couple of tables around us ordered it too. Well priced, great service, excellent atmosphere - we'll be back! #ricksreviews

J.We have dined here more than a few times over the past two years, and we are always impressed by their excellent, comprehensive menu, the quality of their food and the portion size, which is generous. The ambience is excellent, typically with a very nice choice of background music played at an appropriate level (ie not too loud!). It is a lovely old pub with very nice, friendly staff who always make you feel welcome. The price of food is excellent - very good value. There are many nice wines available too, at good bottle prices. The chef and kitchen produce some really excellent food. Last night we had garlic bread then I ordered Beer battered Gummy shark with salad & chips. The bread was superb, the beer battered fish was truly outstanding - the lightest, crispest, tastiest batter over lovely fillets, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious salad and lovely crisp chips! My wife had a dish involving a chicken fillet garnished with scallops, which she very much enjoyed. We often order steaks, and they are also great! My meal was topped off with banana fritters, once again, done to perfection in a lovely light batter, and served with a full-sized scoop of ice-cream. Delightful evening! We will be back soon! Hint: Book early, as it can get busy and often has to cater for fairly large groups.

N. K.I have now been here many times. The service and food are both exceptional. The new management have really turned this place around. We keep going back for the high quality steaks that are always perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. The sauces are fantastic and a great selection of wines available and affordable. The portion sizes are great with a good selection of smaller plates available. This place is a must try!

Q. B.A friend and I had lunch here today and we were extremely happy with the food and service. I had a medium-rare eye fillet that was cooked to perfection and my friend ordered the chicken parma and was equally impressed with the quality of her food. I was happy to see my favourite beer on tap (great northern) as well as a good selection of other drinks. We had a chance to chat to the older gentleman behind the bar who was very friendly and welcoming as were all other staff. Will definitely be back to try the pork belly next!

It's been over two years since my initial review. We've been enjoying a random lunch here for years and also were hesitant with the change of ownership. We visited recently as a family group and we were pleasantly surprised. Meal sizes are either the same or larger and the service was very polite. I chose the Surf and Turf, which was absolutely beautiful!
A.Absolutely outstanding food, very generous portions & amazing service. 11/10!
I had the ribs, the pork belly also looked fantastic, and the steaks were cooked perfectly!
