Comments of Pub in the Paddock
B. P.
Highly recommend!
A great spot to come for a meal and drink(s).
The staff (and locals) are friendly, the meals are good, the beers are cold and it's in a relaxing location.
Definitely come check this pub out if you're in the north-east of Tassie mountain biking, hiking or otherwise exploring.

Such a great little find. We camped at the free camp ground and walked about 400m to the pub. It was a great atmosphere and the locals were super friendly. Walter the new owner was very welcoming. Just make sure you give the pub a call as some of the online info is out of date due to new ownership. Will definitely be back there.
S. C.
What an amazing find. It’s in the wilderness of Tasmania amongst rolling fields. Locals are hilarious and the pubs rich in history. Would definitely recommend going plus it’s got accommodation and free camping. What’s not to love about camping next to a pub. New Year’s Eve was wild…
H.
This was a gorgeous find on our way to the floating sauna!
Such a sweet and rustic spot to spend a meal (or longer!). The food was delicious, range of beers great and the atmosphere summed up the cosy country beauty of Tasmania.
T. G.
Lovely pub, great food and didn't take very long to come out the waitress was lovely. The lady who took our orders was very rude when being served she said "what you want" in the rudest way. She looked like she didn't want to be their. Their was a group of 19 of us and she was rude to us all. When telling the man who I guess owns it his reply was " in melbourne some places are paid to treat you that way"? "And that's just her she gets complaints all the time"... great response I guess!! Otherwise nice place to visit.

New owners are fab and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our time. Good food, beautiful view. Will surely return!
K. t.
Wow what a lovely old pub/school house. The establishment history is displayed all around and is great reading. The staff are wonderful and the meals are lovely. Sitting outside looking over the country side enjoying a coldie is delight. Don't forget to say hi to the beer loving pig.
Q. J.
Nice experience. Not the best food or service on Earth but the atmosphere makes the difference and a great souvenir. We loved the beer drinking pigs.
A.
Put simply this pub is a must. We had an incredible Friday evening, great food, unparalleled service and an atmosphere that could not be more Australian.
G. H.
Cute place. Nice lady behind the bar. Bottled & canned beer selection. FYI. No food available on a Friday evening tho!

Pub in the paddock
Great little pub/restaurant literally on a paddock. A pig theme throughout plus lots of old photos and tools decorating it. Great choice of beers and drinks. Warm fireplace. However the woman serving us was rather unfriendly (someone said she is the owner) but the other server was lovely. Highly recommend especially after visiting the at Columba waterfalls

Third time lucky with getting here! Opening times were a struggle for us - pub is open 11am - 4pm but food is only available from 12pm-2pm. HOWEVER, on our third time attempting to get here for lunch we had success! The port here is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed dessert. Lunch is standard pub fare but the prices are decent. Fun little detour off the Tasman Highway for anyone looking for a feed.
S. L.
Cute as a button pub in the middle of nowhere. Worth a stop if you are on the way to or from St Columba Falls
C. T.
BEST restaurant ever. I enjoyed my dinner very much. Thanks to the Chef & Lady Owner who is very nice, hospitable, compassionate & accomodative. The ambience is nostalgic & rustic. The dishes are fantastic. I highly anyone to dine here & I would definitely return if ever I flew back from Singapore after my 2 doses of Covid 19 vaccine injections. Thank you very much lady Owner & Chef.

Came to see Priscilla of course and fed her a beer. However, we came at a bad time I suppose because they were getting very busy. Ordered a parmy and I got it served at room temperature. It was good, just cold. I'm sure that's not the case all the time, however it was my experience.
s. s.
We stopped after doing St. Columba falls. Staff very friendly had a yummy sticky toffee dessert with ice cream and cream and great plunger coffee. The place was packed but we were served very quickly and we loved it.
B. T.
Great food with friendly service plus a lot of history inside to look at.
A. T.
Nice pub easy atmosphere great location.
K. R.
A fine and quirky pub, very well patronized, with honest uncomplicated food. There are no frills, but serves are generous, and prices reasonable. And it is not every pub that has a beer drinking pig in the garden.
K. D.
So happy we popped in for lunch at Pub in the Paddock! The venue is lovely, staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! Portions were a generous size and value for money. Will recommend to friends and hope to visit again soon!
L. S.
My Husband and I absolutely loved this place. The country scenery was so so beautiful. We both had the steaks which were perfect. Very filling meal. Cost about $32 each but that is what you pay now days. Nothing good comes cheap. Would come back if lived close by.....The pub has a lot of personality also inside and out. Just so relaxing to sit outside especially being able to take our dogs. The publican was very friendly as well. Very surprised to see some bad reviews. Everyone seemed to be loving it there...............Great atmosphere.........
K. H. h.
Amazing historic pub. Great location, friendly people, great food, plenty to drink, comfortable rooms well appointed. Thank you Scott and Rowena. We will be back couldn't ask for a better reception and place to stay. Highly recommend a visit to this place.
C. J.
We visited just over a year ago. We drove 3.5 hours just specifically for them. I was so excited to meet Priscilla and get her drunk (on some water down beer). We bought some souvenirs and I still wear my Pub in the Paddock hoodie all the time. We are planning another trip next year to Tassie and this place is definitely on itinerary.
C. G.
Prices expensive. Simple menu and quite unhealthy esp for kids. No table water or water station. Service in consistent some hosts cordial others brash! Chips not cooked properly. Nice enough heritage venue with lovely old photos and memorabilia. This place could be booming with better attention to detail and reasonable prices.
K. C.
Cosy atmosphere with warm and friendly staff! On a cold Tassie day we were delighted to walk into the pub with a roaring fireplace going. A quirky decor inside with loads of character. We ordered our meals and they came out in no time at all! Great service and we got to feed the pig a beer when we left. An awesome spot for lunch.
a. t.
Love this place! A unique attraction surrounded by beautiful countryside. The pub Manager was friendly and knowledgeable. But the famous beer drinking pigs stole the show. We just loved every minute of our visit here :)
L. S.
Great pub style menu, great atmosphere
G. M.
Another historic pub that is a must for lunch if travelling in the area. Don't forget to have a drink with the pig.
G. N. C.
Good meal. Visit the beer drinking pig
C. P.
Great little pub . Could have better information about where and how to give the pigs a drink .barmaid not the most welcoming. Food ok .
D. E.
Take it or leave it, it was OK but don't make a special trip.
Little disappointed in the food
A bit pricey but that's to be expected
Had a steak sandwich and it was tough
Others had fish and chips and reckon that it was just Frozen I and J Fish fillets.
Calamari was just some sort of fish filler concoction.
M. K.
Good size portions pub grub. Decent menu. Dining area needs a little more light depending on where you sit. Otherwise great service!
C. B.
If you enjoy superb home cooked meals, Aussie country ambiance and are interested in local history this is the Pub for you. This quaint pub that started in 1880 in what was then the wilderness of Eastern Tasmania and has held a liquor licence continuously since 1900, is a not to be missed experience in touring Tasmania. To get there you have a pleasant and enjoyable drive through rolling green hills dotted with dairy cattle . Glimpsing through the forest portals you espy spectacular valleys and granite outcrops. The pub provides a welcoming warm home spun charm with food that equals granny's kitchen. Service is with a hefty dose of Aussie repartee, and nothing is too much trouble for Scott. If requested item is not available a suitable substitute is offered.
C. S.
Called in for a look, lovely warm fire going in the bar, had a beer and started chatting to some locals so stayed for lunch - best steak sandwich we've had - had a chat to Pricilla the pig on the way out! Well worth the drive to the falls to work up an appetite for lunch at the pub on the way back.
I.
As tourists passing through it was warm and cosy, but perhaps not quite as welcoming as we were expecting. Based on what I overheard it is very homely for locals though. We enjoyed our meals and drinks, it was reasonably priced, but unfortunately we didn't quite feel welcome in the end.
T. D.
Go there!!! Bloody loved it! Menu and food are amazing! There's no animal cruelty and if @Carol had called in she would have seen how loved Priscilla is and the lovely big pig pen she lives in with her companion. I hate it when people make judgement about things they haven't even seen! I reported her comment cause its BS
K.
Best place to go after being at St Columbia falls
C. M.
Friendly owners. Worth of stop in for a drink, did not eat do cammot review. Stoo in on the way to or from St.Columba falls.
C. B.
Stayed here with a friend on a driving trip around Tasmania. We were travelling in the middle of winter, so it was very quiet (we were the only people staying), but we absolutely loved it! They were so welcoming and friendly, it was very relaxed, and we had some great chats about the local area.
D. E.

Fabulous staff, food and place, including Pricilla and friend . Thank you so much for sending on the t shirts .Love The VICCHICS Victoria xo
r. b.
Totally unique visit ,lots of memorabilia the place, the food is hot the beer is cold , great visit
W. O.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. However meals and drinks are now quite expensive compared to similar hotels in the region. There is a pig there who loves a light beer. If you haven't been to Tassie before call in and have a look at this place.
D. Y.
Very interesting attraction, something to experience 😊
S. G.
Great hospitality and exceptional pub food. If you're looking for somewhere between St Helens and Scottsdale this is on your short list. If you're exploring St. Columba Falls, Ralphs Falls or Halls Falls then add this to your list. BTW, remember to say Hi to Priscilla the pig when you visit the : it's the polite thing to do.
S. R.
This is well worth a visit. Great food great hospitality great name and great location - when you get there. Prices were not too bad either. If you have a chance drop in for sure
R. G.
Best food in the bay of fires area! Good hearty meals. Did not gel with the bar guy but was probably just me. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.
G. P.
Great cosy pub with very good meals & a beer drinking pig.
k. s.
Great country pub. Publican cant do enough to make you happy. The kids loved the place especially feeding the pigs the special beer brew
A. T. H.

A. M.

D.
Hands down the best steak I've ever had. Very nice place in a great spot. Would definitely recommend 👍
L. C.
Relaxed country pub👍
M. M.
Friendly staff great beer and don't forget to take a beer to the pig
F.
Old as stated, country old fashioned with a roaring fire. I did not eat here, but enjoyed a crisp, clean and cold Boags beer!
M. M.
Wonderful, good food and very friendly staff, the deserts tasted like they had been frozen and then heated up, but the mains and atmosphere make up for this, very cozy and comfortable to stay and have dinner, love the fire, but probably a bit of a hazard for those with toddlers as it wasn't covered, though they may cover it when there are
B. C.
Awesome pub in the middle of no where, well worth a beer and a bite to eat. Oh and the pig gets thirsty too. Just ask!😊
S. S.
Lots of fun. Definitely a pub in a paddock. Friendly staff, good food.
J. x.
Read some good reviews, but food was really average, but reasonable priced. Service is just ok, not the usual tassie friendly way at least.
J. D.
It was lovely, staff very friendly and even when busy nothing was a bother. So good to find old fashion service with a smile and they meant it
D. S.
I had heard about this place so we had to drop in on the way over to St Helens. The food and atmosphere of the place is fantastic. Well worth the visit.

M. M.
We came in on a Sunday evening hoping for dinner, that sadly wasn't available, so we settled for a drink to go eat dinner later at our camp. The owners were super inviting and friendly, having a nice open conversation about the pub etc. They were that nice we came in the next day for lunch and were not disappointed. The steak sandwich was 10/10, and the schnitzel was pretty good too! Only strange thing is the lady behind the bar who has a copy and paste conversation with everyone that walks in.... Without doubt, you will be asked "where ya from?", "First time here?". On our particular visit "No flathead, It's Whiting" was also a heavy feature. Very entertaining to watch from a distance.
