Great bar to try Tasmanian whisky flights. But it's far from being a great whisky bar. I asked for some 15ml pours of whiskies from their whisky menu, but they told me that's not possible as prices are fixed. The first whisky bar in my experience to have told me such a weird thing. I ordered Springbank 12yo burgundy cask (I twice repeated "burgundy" to make sure they knew it) but they served me Springbank 9yo Gaja Barolo. When I told them about their mistake, they just said "sorry". Any other whisky bar would have corrected such a disappointing mistake. I also asked for a glass of water and never received one. So we left the bar in disappointment.

Great spot for whisky tastings. The cakes are great, the cocktails are good. But make sure you come here for a whisky tasting. The team really know their stuff. Very impressive collection of both international and local whisky's

You can drive all over Tasmania seeking out the best whiskies, or, head down to Salamanca, settle into a lounge chair, and try them without leaving your seat. Given they have hundreds to taste, that may be a bit much in one sitting, but the single distillery flights of whisky here are a great way to get into the local drops. There’s a 11 different options, starting at $45 and each gives you 4 different whiskies from a single distillery complete with separate tasting notes and a great introduction by the barman. They also do some lovely chocolate cakes, and all in a dimly lit setting that seems to have been transported from a Victorian era London gentleman’s club.

Outstanding whiskey den. Their original drinks were outstanding and their off beat single malt selection was top shelf. The staff were friendly and engaging. The French Toast Martini did not disappoint. I was also able to find the only Ardbeg Committee Single Malt I hadn’t already had. Will definitely return.

It’s a bit special here. We were lucky enough to visit during happy hour, $10 cocktails which were the tastiest I’ve ever had. The decor is divine, loaded with flowers, candles and comfy nooks. That butter beer itself is almost worth the trip back to Hobart alone!

Very nice escape from the noise and bustle of Salamanca Place on a Saturday night. This place oozes style and grace - stylish decor, mood lighting and insulated from the cold and noise of a Hobart night. The drinks menu is extensive and they even offer you a seperate whisky menu, which includes comprehensive tasting notes and options. Staff know their stuff and were pleasant about it As well as the signature whisky they offer an extensive Tasmanian gin selection. A bit pricey so if you are staying for a night be prepared for ‘bill shock’.

A great place to sit and admire the incredible world of whiskey and spirits. Been here a few times and normally very good. However this time it was busy and took 40 minutes to get a drink. Need more staff guys.

Great selection of cocktails; Friday afternoon, cocktails were $10 a pop - extremely reasonable compared to the normally slightly exorbitant $20. While the sign said $10, too late to discover those were only a more limited range of traditional cocktails. Comfortable and pleasant decor. Peaceful atmosphere until the Friday mayhem started. We were going to have a second, but the lack of server attention made us move on somewhere else - could do with some additional staff in the predictably busier periods.

Great atmosphere and the tasting flights are a great way to try out some local whisky. 1 star off as I felt a little ignored after the helpful initial seating/ordering. I wanted to get more information on the whisky I enjoyed most, but no one came by to ask... Not a huge gripe and I'd go back, but it did feel a little bit of a let down that the strong initial level of customer attention wasn't maintained.

Very very nice place. Very nice chillaxed atmosphere. There are a few tables and a lot of couches. Very unique and very comfortable to just come and wind down with a few drinks. Half price cocktails at certain times is really awesome. Be warned though, this is a whiskey bar. Most of the drinks are very very intense and strong with whiskey. However the drinks are very good and well made and the service is really good. The air conditioning is a bit awkwardly placed and there isn't really any food to get from here which is to be expected. A nice little corner to just hang out and have a comfortable and good time. Very good music in the background too.

Amazing drinks, setting and ambiance. Premises are fantastically decorated with great attention to detail. Our server was brilliant with a lot of knowledge but unfortunately was on his own so the customer service/experience was lacking. My partner and I waited 25 minutes to order our next drink after finishing one because the guy was on his own in a full bar (would be a 5 star review otherwise). More emphasis should be placed on customer experience rather than labour costs.

Looked in earlier in the day and was passing that night after another bar experience and thought why not? Service was outstanding but we did have some idea what we wanted was impressed by the menus for drinks. Not a cheap experience but all prices are there on the menus and if in doubt ask which I did. Flowers and candles are featured here one of the best displays I have ever seen. Left extremely happy very quick table service. A group of 10 were turned away not enough room doesn't strike me as a group experience at all more personal intimate service.

Ive been once before and again i felt like i was stepping into another world. The ambience and decor is so relaxing, its comfort delightful. The experience is superbly crafted by the knowledgeable staff who give you their time and care in assistin you with picking the right whiskey. Their menu book is brilliant. Each time I visit I am excited and surprised by the quality and variety of beverages available. Leave your mobile phones turned off, cause you won't need them in here...

Dimly lit cosy rustic feeling with many ottoman couches and other comfortable seating. One of the largest selection of whiskey cocktails I've seen and a number of other drinks as well. On the pricier side ($20/cocktail at time of writing) but they have a 2 for 1 happy hour. Very nice bar for good conversation. Would go again

I wanted to like this place but it's clearly catering to the swanky foreign tourist market. The fitout was nice but it was as if you explained to an alien what a fancy whiskey bar looked like and then got them to build it, with an unlimited budget. Too many scented candles. The whiskey selection was great, plenty of local Tasmanian distilleries to choose from, but everything was overpriced.

What a brilliant establishment. Gorgeous decor and ambient music where you don't have to talk over the music or other people in the venue. A great place if you are in a small group or even by yourself. Knowledgeable staff can help you out trying whiskies whether locally procured or from all over the world. Go with the flight sets to immerse in the wonderful whisky production Tassie has to offer!

Good value with the half price cocktails, but it's a bit of a tourist trap. They used to be owned by Nant before it was sold and now their service is a bit sub-par and the whole place feels like a catalog for Pottery Barn. The drinks took about 45 minutes to come out, they forgot one of my groups' drinks, and the whole experience was kind of average. The staff were really friendly and the drink presentation was great, but I honestly wouldn't go out of my way for this place.

If you are traveling to Tasmania and interested in the whiskeys they have to offer and not sure where to start. This place is THE PLACE to start! They really know their whiskey's, they are happy to tell you background stories, and the atmosphere is amazing. What more can a whiskey love want! We visited more than once.
